21 Grams was brilliant. We had the seven course degustation menu with matching wine. The chef stunned us with each course. The sommelier kept producing the perfect wine match moving seamlessly between new world and French wines and Japanese saki. Although my wife and i had the same degustation menu the somelier produced a different wine for each of us so we were able to try twice as many wines. some came from deep in an excellent wine cellar. We have been to Noma in Copenhagen and Wakughin in Singapore. 21 Grams is up there with the best. A wonderful find and a must try if you are in New York.

How on earth has mainstream
How on earth has mainstream media not picked up on this spot yet? Let me be honest: there are a thousand new restaurants in NYC that open each year claiming to be new, fresh and my favorite: innovative.... In reality, they're usually just new names on ordinary dining spots. Finally finally FINALLY something truly unique and equally extraordinary has come along. This Japanese-French fusion of gustatory delight blew me away. Yes, it is pricey....but since eating at the likes of Le Bernardien and Daniel, I have not experienced such true culinary genius with this caliber of service until now. Cannot wait to go back - money well spent.

This relatively new restaurant
This relatively new restaurant has set its sights on high-end diners, but it has a ways to go before it can compete effectively in that space. It has a fanciful and elegant interior, with lots of space. The service is awesome, but that might have been because there were so few diners on hand. The food needs work to be worth the prices. Each dish (except the chocolate souffle which was 100% wonderful) had great elements (wonderful foie gras) and disappointing elements (a piece of sweetbread with nothing to say for itself). It feels as if they have imaginative but are unwilling to really take risks.

Excellent decor, great service
Excellent decor, great service although the waiters are not perfectly prepared to respond to questions about the menu. Great food with outstanding preparation.

Gorgeous, under the radar gem
We recently had the opportunity to get to NYC on short notice for a quick weekend without the kids. My husband and I wanted to take advantage of it and book a special dinner on a Saturday night. The big name places were booked up and it was left to me to find a place that matched my criteria for our night out - high end dining, worthy of a special occasion, fantastic food, exceptional service.
After a significant amount of research, I chose Mihoko's. It did not disappoint.
It's amazing to me that such a place isn't on more top 20 lists. It really was an exceptional dining experience.
The food was fabulous and inventive. Everything was beautifully presented with care and attentive service. It was a wonderful evening.

What a hidden gem of a place!!!!
If you come here, prepared yourself to be pampered by probably the best culinary experience in New York City. I have been at the best restaurants in New York, Paris and Tokyo and despite the numbers of Michelin stars at the others restaurant I have dined before, the culinary experience here, emphasis on delicious and inventive cuisine, topped with the sophistication and elegance of this place, really tops many of other renowned places that are well known in the restaurant business. My wife and I have the 4 courses menu with each dish been better than the one before. When the check arrived the tab was about 30% less than at others places on the same level; yet flavors here and ambience were 100% than in the other places. Don't miss it!!

Great food, great cocktails, great ambiance and great service. It is everything that one can ask for in a fine dining restaurant and more. It is hands down one of the best restaurants I have ever been to and I will definitely recommend it to all my friends.

Over the top excess - awesome!!!
Special occasion place due to price. staff was superb, best ever I experienced. Formal atmosphere is almost tongue in cheeck - excellent but no stuffiness. Foodie food, an experience. Looking for excuse to go back.
5/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
This place is simply outstanding, this is one the best experience you may have in the city. I disagree with people complaining about the portion sizes, they are absolutely decent.
Everything is top of the range: service, food and ambience.
6/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
I had a great experience.
I had a great experience. The foods are great and impecable serviece. I love their decor.

Outstanding but empty!
We went for a romantic anniversary dinner. The food, wines/sake, service and ambience were truly outstanding. This is a gem of a place. But it was completely empty -- we were the ONLY ones there! Still, our surreal experience was like something out of the Great Gatsby!
7/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in a unique fine dining experience. We went for a special dinner for 2 and it was a remarkable night. The service was unparalleled: the waiters were extremely gracious and polite in addition to being extremely knowledgeable about the dishes. The food itself was spectacular. We love both Asian and European food and this was an incredibly successful combination of the two seemingly disparate cuisines. The dishes were all delicious; from the fois gras to the shashimi to the duck, you truly can't go wrong. Seriously a hidden gem.

Fascinating and delicious
This place is one of a kind, not like anyplace you've been. That's the point.
The food will remind you a bit of some stellar Japanese you've had, but better and more generous. The setting is almost a movie set from a movie set in a Star Trek Europe. But it all works.
Don't hesitate, give it a try. Bring friends.
If you want a little weirdness with your dinner, in a way you'll remember, this is your place.
8/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
The design of the entrance and the restaurant itself are outstanding. The service was very professional, but not cold, a great balance of availability and personality combined with near perfection. The food was truly outstanding. The wine list was varied, we chose the signature sake, which was well priced, subtle and well suited for our meal. It was a very special meal which I want to repeat soon!

Romantic spot. Spectacular food!
It was eight of us celebrating a wedding. We could not believe the quality of the food and, especially, it's creative presentation. Every dish was a work of art. The service was quietly attentive. You almost didn't notice it but everything was taken care of, and it was just right. We'll be going back, wedding or not!
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Cannot say enough about the favour and unique presentation. Only one thing better -- the service was A+
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food and service at Mihoko's was amazing. The food was beautiful to look at. It was fun to eat with the different textures and unique but good combination of ingredients. I recommend this l anyone who enjoys trying new things and unique experiences. Some great dishes were the king crab appetizer with apple and sweet potato, their fresh baked bread, and the croquette.

Attractive restaurant. Attentive
Attractive restaurant. Attentive service. THOUGHTFUL, interesting and delicious flavor combinations. And food presentation was tastefully creative.

The $95 prix-fixe dinner is
The $95 prix-fixe dinner is an amazing deal in the city, for foodies. When was the last time you had 4 courses, and many choices in each course, for such a price? And, the ambiance is wonderful: comfortable seating, comfortable distances apart, you can actually talk at normal voice level. The sommelier was very attentive. Perhaps the time of the year, when most people are out of town. I look forward to stopping again later in the fall. A must!
PS- I asked and they said they open for larger parties during lunch or sunday brunch. Great place for a party while it's still a hidden gem!
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was really delicious and interestingly presented. The restaurant was so pretty and the place settings were gorgeous. Service was also excellent. I'd love to go back again.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Gorgeous ambiance, excellent above-and-beyond level service, and well-prepared food. particularly the amouse-bouche of soup in an egg... and the gravlax salmon "cream cheese" roll. both incredible!!! extremely romantic, definitely recommend. only complaint is that it is only prix-fix... and a bit pricey. but definitely worth the experience!
9/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent place. Food was delicious, service was very good and great overall ambiance. The décor and set up is fabulous and pleasingly different than most other places. This is not an inexpensive place, but for what you get and given it is NYC, I think the prices here are to be expected. Highly recommended.
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Impress your wife or girlfriend - they will love this place - totally unique - candlelit - the food I would rate overall as good - some dishes were truly exceptional others average - that being said the menu is truly inventive and I will go back and would highly recommend
9/13/2013 5:00:00 PM
We took 4 course set with wine and sake. Some of the food combinations were not suitable for my taste (they have a mixture of french and japanese kitchens), but wine was great and the whole atmosphere and service - really amazing! Would visit them again.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Perfect in every way. Incredible decor matched by a magnificent meal! The service was excellent and helpful without being obsequious. The room is breathtaking. Everything we ate was special. Can't wait to go again. This is a wonderful place for a special occasion. But we want to experience it all of the time.

Incredible Cultural Infusion
Mihoko's 21 Grams offers a totally unique restaurant experience. I was searching for a gorgeous and memorable celebration venue for my boyfriend's 33rd birthday and I couldn't have found a better place. A romantic dining experience with fabulous attentive service and impeccable menu, we indulged on seven intricately prepared courses and had so much fun sampling the combinations of Japanese and French cuisine. The chef is just sensational and has a unique approach to marrying foods and flavors. Although the total bill made this restaurant suitable for special occasions only, it was very reasonable and totally worth it. What a night to remember!

Sublime Dining Experience, Michelin
While staying at the W, a concierge suggested it for our special evening.
Repeat visit for me. Although the room was simplistically opulent and the food sensually and visually remarkable, it is the people and their commitment to outstanding service that make the experience.
Staff is extremely eager to take care of you (while they are still unknown)
So if food has not surprised you lately, and you've been dining at other WOW factor places, you must try this. Mihoko's is for regulars as well as one-time splurges. A new chef in town I've been told, menu is constantly evolving with seasonal treats. If you're looking for a more than great restaurant in NY to enjoy more than once, this is it, hands down. Music was just OK for the great place.

Excellent food and beautiful
Excellent food and beautiful restaurant. A long time we have not experienced this level of high quality and innovative food.
We would recommend it any time.

Delicious and worth it!
We very much enjoyed our experience at Mihoko's 21 Grams! The food was unique, flavorful and delicious! We loved every course and there were a lot of them!! It was my husban's birthday and all the beautiful details of this retaurant suited our celebration perfectly!

Impeccable service, beautiful table setting and great foods.

A wonderful experience!!!
From the moment that you first see the dining room, with it's elegant and dramatic décor, to the end of the meal that you will be having, this is one of the BEST dining experiences in New York City. The food and the service are both above average, bordering on "heavenly", and while yes, it is an expensive night out, it is also an amazing experience, and one that anyone who enjoys fine dining should have.....
10/25/2013 5:00:00 PM
What a Gem!
The moment we walked into the restaurant we knew it was going to be a special experience, and special is exactly what it was.
We enjoyed the four course dinner while adding 1 custom course ; a beautiful sushimi plate. Everything was outstanding. The service was attentive although we waited a long time for our main course to arrive,
All in all this was a 3 hour dining experience that we would recommend highly!
10/25/2013 5:00:00 PM
Outstanding Food but Very Slow Meal
If you are looking for a unique one-of-a-kind leisurely fine dining experience, this is your place. The ambience is chic and nouveau and the food is outstanding. They only offer a prix fixe menu so be prepared for that and while they say you will get 4 courses with the special between course refreshers, it is more like 8 courses. They top it off with elegantly served cotton candy at the end of the night. Our meal took 4 hours though so we were all pretty tired by the end of the night and that was diminished the experience. If we could have finished in 2.5 or 3 hours, I think we would have all said it was one of the best meals we have had in New York City.
10/25/2013 5:00:00 PM
The experience at Mihoko's
The experience at Mihoko's was impeccable from start to finish. So many delightful surprises for the palate in the 4-course tasting menu. For mine, the turbot en croute was a knock out. Also, not to be missed is the sake souffle! Staff are entirely attentive, yet not intrusive. Top marks.
10/25/2013 5:00:00 PM
Great food, creative and innovative japanese and french fusion. Attention, they do not serve à la carte, only omakase at 150 or 4 courses menu at 95, which is not a bargain considering the portions are on the small side. they are not flexible on the menu and will not accomodate fewer courses. overall great food experience.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
A unique dining experience
We loved the look of the restaurant. We loved the food. The service was impeccable.
We hope more people will experience this inventive cuisine.
10/30/2013 5:00:00 PM
A gorgeous restaurant with crystal chandeliers and candles.went on a Wednesday night and it was pretty empty. The food is Japanese French. It was as beautiful as it was weird. Had Waygu beef sushi -- 3 perfectly small squares of sushi rice with steak tartar on top. Everything was as creative as it was delicious. Piece de resistance? Balloon Opera Cake -- a beautiful slice of layer cake enclosed in a crystal bubble! You break open the spun sugar and eat the cake -- sublime. But very costly. Only a four course meal for $95 or a 7 course dinner for close to $200! Would go back for a special occasion

Tokyo via Paris in New York
From cocktails to chocolate truffles, this restaurant is over the top in ambience, service and food, both delicious and beautifully plated.
The most intimate dinner I have ever had in a public place. The amuse bouche, a "chestnut cappuccino", was extraordinary as was most of the food.
Very pricey but worth every penny for a special occassion.

Mimoko's was great
My fiancé and I went to Mimoko's for her birthday. The dining room is beautiful and the food is amazing. However, to me, the best part of our experience was the staff. We showed up a little late for our reservation, but they were totally understanding. There was an event that we had to be at after dinner, and the staff did all that they could to provide us with an amazing, multi-course meal and yet get us to our next destination on time.
I highly recommend the restaurant for a classy, but quieter romantic evening, or small group special occasion dinner.

An Evening To Remember
I decided to make a reservation after hearing rave reviews from a friend. My date was a special one, and I was seeking somewhat of an unforgettable experience. With the design alone, Mihoko's dining room was attention grabbing from the very beginning.
We were greeted by an extremely warm maitre d', whose name we found out was Carlos. Upon entering the dining room we were both taken back by walls adorned in stunning 19th century art. We felt as though we had been transported to a royal banquet.
*Shrimp uni avocado ceviche roll
Each dish was presented in exquisite detail. Thanks to a wonderful experience, date # 2 is booked, and I'll certainly be back.

Quiet, Romantic & Delight
I chose Mihoko’s to celebrate my 36 birthday and it was a memorable experience; perfectly suited for my birthday.
The staff was very attentive from the time we walked in to the time we walked out of the restaurant. The place is well decorated, beautiful table settings, and the food was unique. We enjoyed the delicious four course dinner, especially the amuse la bouche (chestnut cappuccino) and tasty lamb. Let’s not forget the outstanding cocktails. Everyone from the staff wished me a happy birthday. Once again the staff was great; best part of our experience.
The great attention to detail and impeccable service makes it one of our best dining experiences in NYC thus far. I highly recommend this restaurant and hoping to return soon!

One of the 10 best restaurant meals
We came to 21 Grams for Thanksgiving dinner and we shall return for other celebration dinners in the future. The menu is so creative and the fusion is perfection. The flavor balance is delicate and precise. Don't miss a pre-dinner cocktail, we shared a "Vogue" which was smoky and delicious and since the staff knew we planned to share the drink it was served in two glasses. Such a lovely touch of class. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable. The ambiance maintains a sophisticated edge while being at once amusing and quirky. We had a really good time, never rushed. Worth the money.

Mihoko's 21 Grams was absolutely
Mihoko's 21 Grams was absolutely fabulous. Each course was beautifully presented with a delightful mix of Japanese and French flavors and textures. We savored every bite. The cocktails were creative, tasty and whimsically presented. The sommelier knew his craft and matched each course with lovely sake and wine parings. My husband and I celebrated a special occasion and will definitely return.
Our only question was where is everyone? Mihoko's was empty when people should be lining down the street to get int!
10/9/2013 5:00:00 PM
We really enjoyed every course of the omakase! Each one was delicious and delicate and beautifully plated. Most were inventive as well. I have never had such attentive service in my life, despite having been to several other very good restaurants. I highly recommend this restaurant and hope we will have opportunity to return!
