Food was great. I would have drank more alchohal but service was weak. Had to ask to have my water refilled more than once.

A Pleasant Experience
Cafe Miro was a pleasant surprise. The menu provided an array of interesting choices for both appetizers and entrees. Although described as French fusion there is more of an Oriental influence that made for interesting and flavorful presentations. The wine selection was a surprising array that spanned a wide range of quality and price. Overall we found the experience worthy of a return visit. There are two suggestion: 1. The price fixe menu was confusing and a distraction; 2. Ditch the plastic table clothes and replace them with cloth - growing up with two brothers my mom used plastic table cloths for the ease of cleaning and durabiity, a quality restaurant needs to project an refined image that can't be done with sticky plastic.

Diamond in the Rough
This restaurant is not located in any of the usual Honolulu tourist spots. This is what makes Café Miro great. The food is wonderful, well prepared and elegantly presented. The chef's appetizer plate is a must. Service is excellent.
Wine list is good and reasonably priced.

Good food, laid back
We liked what it is, great food with attentive service.
And we liked what it is not, pretentious, expensive or loud.
We live in Hawaii, eat out upscale often, and will go back to Miro's.

Great food, simple decor.
Food was excellent and worth the money. Service good. Decor very simple, did not match the price of food.

This occasion to surprise and celebrate with my wife and two close friends our 46th wedding anniversary. It was our first dining experience at Cafe Miro. The experience was made very special by Cafe Miro in many ways, from the complementary wine for my wife and me to the very special dessert place with "Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary" on the plate in dark chocolate script. The food was excellent both in taste and presentation. The service felt quite personal and un-rushed. This is a very special place to dine!

A well hidden Gem
You would not think much of Cafe Miro from the outside, as it is situated in a typical commercial area outside of downtown. However, once inside the place is gorgeous. We were greeted as soon as we arrived, and our table was ready ahead of our reservation time. Our waiter was very prompt and provided great recommendations regarding the menu, and he happily answered all of our questions. Everyone on the staff was pleasant. I'm running out of room and haven't talked about the food, which is phenomenal. My wife had the truffle soup and a rather large salad, along with scallops. I had the sampler appetizer and then the chicken, as well as some local fish. Everything we ate was exquisite. It's a bit spendy so save it for a special occasion.

We come here to get away from the crowds, we like to come here for our anniversary, the menu pretty simple you don't have to bust your brain on page after page deciding what to choose...OMG FOOD IS COOKED TO PERFECTION...what can I say...for me
I recommend you give this place a try!!!
7/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good food, great service, but kind of expensive which should be expected. Not too many locals dining on a Thursday evening, looked like they catered to the Japanese tourist. The abalone was excellent!

Great food & service
Service was great from the beginning. Decor seemed outdated, but nice. Server was excellent, knew the menu well. The only thing weird was that he disappeared after serving us the appetizer. He served other tables, but never came back to ours. Another server took care of was and was just as good, so not a big deal. Chef's appetizer sampler was very delicious. Only one of the 5 samplers was so-so... the shrimp with a cauliflower puree. Hubby got the pork belly and it was very soft, with a nice crispy skin - excellent. We got the duck confit and pan fried fish (Opah) with almond brown butter. Very good. Dessert sampler: brownie, creme brulee and sorbet. Brownie was so-so, on the dry side; others were excellent. We would definitely come back!

A Hidden Treasure
I've lived in the Kaimuki-Kahala area for 48 years and remember when this restaurant was a bakery. I've passed by the restaurant for years not knowing what an incredible gem this is! A friend recommended this restaurant and boy do I owe him! The food was fantastic and the service was outstanding. The quaint atmosphere belies the power of the meal and dining experience. I had the three course meal and it was just right. The waiters were very helpful and friendly. By far one of the best restaurants I've been to. I'm just afraid that people will find out about this place and I won't be able to get a table!
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Cafe Miro is off the beaten path and we were told they only advertise in Japan. Place was very quiet on the Wednesday night we ate there, maybe 5 tables occupied during our stay. The menu is a bit confusing at first but the staff does a great job explaining everything and it boils down to a design your own prix fixe 3 or 4 course meal. Small wine list but all the bases are covered. Food and service were excellent. The location, decor and view is missing but the food was great and very unique.

Great on a week night!
Made a last minute reservation for Thursday, for out-of-town guests. They loved it! As always, interesting food, well informed and attentive wait staff.

Staff was very accommodating
Staff was very accommodating to get us in on short notice. Dark parking lot behind restaurant so there might be security concerns later at night, but we didn't have a problem. Décor is tired. Attentive and flexible wait staff. Reasonable prices. Chef makes an effort to be haute, with Asian-French fusion (e.g., kobe abalone fond de veau; fois gras with tropical fruit). A good restaurant for serious diners looking for a little cutting-edge, but could sparkle a bit more.

Big hit with the family
This is my 2nd experience at Miro, the 1st being almost 7 years ago & I recommended it to my dad for my stepmom's birthday since they love foie gras. They were extremely happy & the food was as good as I remembered. The staff was attentive, prompt, friendly, & knowledgable. Only concerned that the portions would be too small for my dad but after 4 courses from the appetizer tasting plate, raw oysters w/cocktail & ponzu sauce, medium rare lamb, and the dessert sampler as well as the foie gras w/truffle sauce & sharing a bottle of wine between the 3 of us, we were all VERY full. Next time, I'll just go with the 3 course & that would be perfect for me.

A number of recent refinements
A number of recent refinements to the menu (expended dishes, new sauces, etc.) highlights Chef Kobayashi's culinary excellence. We frequent Cafe Miro and have never been disappointed.

Cafe Miro for Special Occasions
I recommend Cafe Miro for any delightful night out, but we use it for special occasions, too -- this time was a birthday celebration. The staff was cordial, professional, and helpful. The food, as always, was delightful. Two of the things I like best are the prix fixe menu and the samplers. The appetizer sampler provided five different tastes from shrimp in aspic to an oyster escargot style. It's just fun. And the same goes for the desert sampler with tarts, ice cream, and creme brule. It just makes dinner special and entertaining. In between were wonderful entrees that included duck, chicken, and opah. I tasted all three and they were equally delicious. We had a wonderful time, and they recognized our celebration with candles and a song.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was our second time at the resturant...and loved it just as much. Our son enjoyed and even though quiet he was surprised and thought the food was the best.

I have received a delicious meal
I have received a meal as expected.
Food is also fresh.
No complain seasoning! Also, when a visit to Hawaii, I will always reserved.

A true culinary experience!
Each dish entertained all of the senses. From the spinach, lobster, crab and shrimp turrine to the truffle soup, 6 oz filet mignon.....PHENOMINAL! The service was OUTSTANDING while the embiance could have stood a dimmer lighting and an update. Other than that I give this place five stars! A true gem on Waialae

Diamond in the Rough
Did not expect to find such an excellent restaurant in this neighborhood. It wasn't crowded so I hope that it remains "undiscovered".
The service was great and the food was outstanding! Even three course, Prix Fixe, was too much food.

French with Asian influences. 4 course pre fixe. Amuse bouche of chilled pumpkin cream soup, 5 items of appetizers, seafood salad with tasty orange vinegarette and the best duck confit I've had anywhere. Ends with your choice of cheeses or medley of desserts. Extratirdinary value at $54.

It was a great choice to celebrate my girlfriend's Birthday. Thanks, Cafe Miro ;)

Cafe Miro serves up a fine meal
Cafe Miro has some excellent kitchen work--top notch ingredients and French technique make dining a pleasure. The cafe is strictly prix fixe, at two levels, with a 3-course at $43. Some items have supplements, but the regular priced offerings are terrrific. Cured salmon or ahi carpaccio for appetizers, chicken in a morel mushroom sauce and beef tenderloin with a choice of sauces were prepared and served to a high standard. Dessert is a tray of fine pastries. Service is perfect. The setting is a storefront, which is just fine.
11/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
Cafe Miro a great find
The food and service were both elegant. Our server and the rest of the staff were wonderful. The location is a little hard to find, and is unimpressive from the outside, Inside it's very nice, low back round music, intimate setting. It's well worth finding. My friends and I would all go back again.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
a wonderful birthday dinner
The spacing of the tables are just right. Great ambience! I like how the owner recycles the wine corks...great idea! The noise level was minimal. The food was delicious and they gave great service! I would definitely eat there again.

Great food and service
We had not been here for years and decided to try it again. Food and service were terrific. Small issues...bread not very good and they substituted rice pudding for creme brûlée...:(

a very enjoyable dining experience
cafe miro offers 2 menu options: 3 course pre fixe and 4 course chef's choice. but the range of selections is very vast. loved the opah with brown butter. enjoyed cheese option for dessert. small wine list, but i always bring my own ( $20. corkage).
would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a solid, memorable dining experience with perfectly prepared and presented cuisine.

WOW - WOW!
What a shock to learn that this place has been there for over 10 years, talk about a well kept secret! From the outside, this place is ho-hum, the interior clean and simply decorated. But the food and service . . . absolutely incredible! The staff seemed to work well together, keeping things on-time. Our part-time resident friends were as thrilled as we were. None of us could decide which dish was our favorite for the night, but we all agreed that we'd be returning again, and again! I'm hoping to try them all eventually!
11/16/2013 4:00:00 PM
Our Server was outstanding and made every effort to make our celebration enjoyable. He know all of the dishes and was able to assist in making recommendations to those people who were first timers at your restaurant.
11/19/2013 4:00:00 PM
This restaurant is the definition of "neighborhood gem"! They have been at this location for ten years, but it was the first time dining there for myself and my girlfriend. Was pleasantly surprised with the food and service...exceeded my expectations.
We both had the chef's four course tasting menu which was only $54! What a deal considering the quality of product that was used and how well each dish was presented.
There was just too much food to write about for this menu so I'll just say that you should go and experience it for yourself. I will definitely be back. One other thing is that for a small price you can substitute anything from the tasting menu with something off the ala carte menu. Happy eating!

C'est si bon!
Cafe Miro has got to be one of Oahu's classic/traditional SECRET restaurants. The food was spectacular, meticuliously prepared and presented. The twist to this restaurant is the fusion of some Japanese products that are prepared in French techniques. Combining the two cultural flavors has kept the menu a favorite of locals and tourists. There are 2 prix fixe menus (3 or 4 courses) but a myriad of delicious selections await your tastebuds. Prix fixe menus are normally straight-forward but we found this menu a bit confusing because dish prices were posted. Wait staff is patient, unobtrusive and efficient. As a wine connoisseur, you'll love that they have appropriate glasses & not a one-size fit all.

A Great Time
I just returned from deployment and this was the first date I had taken my wife out on in 8 months and Cafe Miro made it very special. The staff was very inviting and answered any questions we had about the menu. The food looked and tasted great. If you want a quiet night with good food this is your spot.
11/29/2013 4:00:00 PM
This is the place to go in Honolulu if you want great food, easy parking in a up and coming neighborhood in Honolulu. The dinning hall is decorated with Miro paintings and the food is as beautiful as the art.

This restaurant had great
This restaurant had great reviews so we tried it. parking was good and the restaurant was easy to find.
The food quality was excellent. it may have been ordinary dishes but the way they prepared the sauces made the dishes
stand out in flavor and preparation was just right. I love the Kona abalone with scallop appetizer--a must try. Would have loved it for the main course entrée. Dessert was great as it was a medley of small desserts...all excellent except for the cheesecake...not cheesecake at all really. they should give it another title. the only other comment would be to have had a few more vegetable and starch options. Other wise a must try restaurant.
