What a special restaurant.
What a special restaurant. We really enjoyed our dining experience at this new (to us) restaurant. Just a little noise, but we were still able to have a conversation. We would recommend Drew's American Grill to our friends.

Service and management very
Service and management very attentive. Food not exceptional, probably better as a lunch menu, but certainly good. A bit pricey. Great bar, wine choices, scotch, etc. Great table layouts made talking easy. I'd go back ... frequently for lunch, but occasionally for dinner too.

Worth a try
Split an expensive steak-it was enough for two. It also was delicious. Came with a COLD baked potato. Too bad. Good bread. Desserts looked delicious and enough to satisfy two or three diners. Not impressed with the very, very expensive Reuben I had last time. Loved leaving with blue cotton candy. Obvious that the restaurant is trying very hard to please, especially since Drew, the owner, seemed happy to come over and say hello. Will return with friends to try something else.

From the food to the service,
From the food to the service, we found Drew's to be a lovely dining experience.
We ate on the outdoor patio which was surprisingly quiet for where it was located. The only negative about eating outside is that smoking is allowed on the patio and unfortunately we were downwind from the cigars.
The foods we enjoyed most were the prime rib special, the rachel with turkey, the reuben and the steak with broccolin. Everyone reported their meal was delicious! Hector, our server was very attentive and helpful in making recommendations. We will definitely return to try more dishes.

Made the reservation and arrived
Made the reservation and arrived in 15 minutes and they were ready for us. Could not decide on what to get but server said "we are known for our Rubens"....and that is what I got...and he was right....it was a very good choice...give them a try and you will not be disappointed...

First time at Drew's
Extensive selection on the menu - from beef to fish as well as burgers and pizza. We settled for the Catch of the Day - was cooked to perfection. Our waiter, Jeff was totally accommodating when we asked to substitute a side. Excellent wine list - we were there on a Friday night and the restaurant was about half full (Fiesta Week in San Antonio). Will definitely make a return trip!

The food was very good. Large menu and wine list. Menu selections were old faves not new trendy. Scallops were excellent. Corn chowder and artichoke dip were very good. Nice place for lunch or dinner. Business or casual mix.

Great meal and waiter service
We only had an hour to eat dinner before heading to Live and Let Die at the Laurie but decided to see if we could squeeze in Drew's. Our waiter, Austin, said no problem -- he brought our wine within 5 minutes (at a bargain only 2X markup compared to other restaurants), took our order, and we even had time left over for dessert. For entrées we had salmon and escolar, both cooked and seasoned to perfection, with attractive presentations -- 7 perfectly sized asparagus with the salmon, just the right amount of green beans with the escolar. We split a Caesar salad and I also had anchovies on the side -- no problem.

Mother's day brunch at Drew's was fabulous. Along with all the usual breakfast items, Eggs Benedict, lox & bagels, pancakes, etc. Drew prepared the most incredible beef with broccoli-rabe I have ever eaten. The beef was fork tender, but with a flavor that was out of this world. A juicy, flavorful roast pork with seasoned mashed potatoes was a close runner up. While my tablemates enjoyed the oysters on the half shell and the boiled shrimp I had to have a second helping of the roast beef, this time without the horseradish sauce. The horseradish sauce was delicious, but the beef was so flavorful you didn't need it.
Desserts were fun cupcakes and marvelous sugar cookies. My cupcake was a fun rip of a PB&J.

We selected Drews because of the many positive reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor and because of their willingness to accept an OpenTable reservation. We were visiting San Antonio for the weekend and staying in the Stone Oak area. We were looking for a good restaurant that offered a variety of food where we could entertain a local relative. Past experience with other San Antonio restaurants on Friday night told us that having a reservation would be important to avoid a lengthy wait in line or at the bar.
Drews worked out perfectly. We were shown to our table right away and greeted by the waiter promptly. Food and service were excellent. We'll be back the next time were in San Antonio.

Great eating again at Drew's.
Great eating again at Drew's. This time my wife and I both opted for the seafood special, which was perfectly cooked Halibut complemented with red-onions, tomatoes and peppers, as well as fingerling potatoes, which to my surprise all worked very well together. We split a salad and opted for a bottle of Pouilly-Fuissé. Our capable waiter was Jeff.

Had a great dinner at Drew's. I feel like I should be calling it "Mr.Glick's" because the owner, Mr.Glick, introduced himself to my table which impressed us all. Mike provided top-notch service and beef sirloin was delicious. The bar was crowded and pretty lively, but we were seated in a separate dining area. I'll definitely be going back Drew's as it is now one of my favorites.

Very Good Service. Menu is limited; however, there is a little bit of everything to choose from. A bit pricey; however, considering the service, food and ambience it was well worth every penny spent. The cotton candy was a real hit with my family...Good Job!!

An Amazing Find!!!
The service was excellent from the hostess to the servers. Our meal was absolutely the best meal we have had eating out in a long time. From the Salmon to the soups I must say Wow!! Did I mention the cheesecake is one of the best. You will not go wrong and you will be a repeat dinner. We are planning a return on Sunday for brunch. Thanks to Drews special attention to derail.

If you are tired of the whole "Mexican" theme this is a very pleasant change. The food was wonderful. The resterraunt was very clean and put together very well. The owner stopped by our table and could not have been more nice. For myself being from the east coast it brought back many food memories.

Great Experience! Will return
The place is very inviting - the staff provided excellent service - they were attentive to our needs throughout the entire 3 hour brunch! There is a pizza oven with at least 8 different types offered - including ones for breakfast! The space between the tables allowed room so a person could to get in and out of a chair without interfering with another person's table. The seats were comfortable. The menu had so much variety that one could use it to improve their arm strengthen. We tried six different brunch selections. All tasted fabulous, were displayed nicely on the plates and had fresh ingredients! This has become my number one place for brunch on Sat or Sun!

No Ricotta for this cheese lover!!
My coworker ordered the 1/2 sandwich Reuben and Matzo ball soup; we both agreed that the sandwich was the best Reuben we've ever had! I ordered the Al Calzone, described in the menu as stuffed with sausage, pepperoni, mozzarella, and ricotta cheese. I could clearly tell there was NO RICOTTA in it! I returned, given explanation that "cook was new". About 5 min later, another server notified me that they were sorry, but out of ricotta!! I felt deceived; to me, ricotta makes the calzone. I ordered another pizza, but that took long; my coworker was already done. Unfortunately, we didn't get to sample any of their decadent sounding desserts. Overall, it was good and worth trying again.

The food was good and the service was great until the dessert. Our waiter disappeared for like 20 mins and we could see the dessert sitting in the window waiting to be taken to the table. Numerous other wait staff looked at the ticket and left it, a little more team work from the staff would have been nice but other than that everything else was very timely. The owner came by to see how everything was going. Nice place, I will recommend and return.

Great dinning experience!
This place was great for a date night. The rack of lamb is good without the compote if you don't like your mead sweet. Wish they more enter vegetarian options. Their pasta was good but lacked a little bit of seasoning and spices. The spinach dip has to have been the best I have had so far. The service was great. The only thing that was a miss was they didn't have their ginger beer in stock. The night ended well with the giant cotton candy that was given to us. It made out night! We will be coming back with friends.

Awesome food but dessert needs work
Appetizer of caprese salad was visually appealing and the flavors melded perfectly. The shrimp and scallops over pasta were perfectly prepared. But dessert, well, it was good in theory, but didn't really work in practice. It was a huge ice cream sandwich thatwas difficult to eat due to the size and hardness of the ice cream. The cookies were good, but also hard. We left almost half on the plate. I mentioned this to the server. All she said was that she thought the cookies were supposed to be warm. So dessert was the only disappointment.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
I had the crab cake appetizer and was a bit disappointed. You see I lived for a while in Maryland, the home of the Maryland crab cake, which to me is the gold standard. The one I had at Drew's had more "filler" for my taste.

First Time Visit
Went for the first time with my with. Our waitress was great. My wife had the New York strip and I had the Salmon; both were outstanding. For dessert we split a slice of cheesecake, talk about a big slice. We both were very impressed with the menu of drinks, which was bigger than the food menu. Overall we were very pleased and will go back again for another night out.

One big hit, onebig miss
The Friday night my wife and I went, they had Nelgai antelope chops, harvested from ranches in So. Texas. Two big rib portions of dense, delicious and virtually fat-free meat --comparable to choice venison backstrap in flavor and quality. Highly recommended. Call ahead, as it's a special menu item.
On the other hand, my wife ordered the reuben, which at lunch is a classic sandwich. The dinner portion is bigger and served open face, and resembled on the plate an alien version of of a cheesy chicken-fried steak. Unacceptable.
But Drew's overall is a fine restaurant, which also features a lively Sunday brunch, highlighted by eggs benedict and unlimited mimosas for $10.
The owner, Drew, visited every table and truly cares about his patrons.

On a blustery November eve, my husband and I chose Drew's for our 43 rd wedding anniversary dinner. Obviously , we are not Spring Chickens anymore, but the attention we were given and the elegant and delicious rack of lamb topped off with a delightful Argentine Malbec melted away the years and we were once again a young, in love, couple. As always drew stopped at the table to visit with us and on learning of our special treated us to dessert.

Great experience - again
We have been dining at Drew's for several years and keep coming back for good food, good service and overall great experience. The restaurant is very child-friendly, the wait staff is attentive and patient with young children. The kids menu is excellent, also. Perfect for families! This time, we asked for a holiday special that was not on the menu yet, but the owner personally asked the kitchen to make us an order. Luckily, they had all the ingredients! Excellent service all around!

Amazing culinary experience!
Drew's provided an amazing culinary experience and a lovely evening. The evening began with Drew himself coming to our table and welcoming us. I ordered one of the specials - fresh scallops with a fabulous mango sauce - just what a foodie like me would love!!
