Went here for my birthday
Went here for my birthday with my boyfriend and another couple. The food was great, and the waitress brought over sorbet with a birthday candle in it when my friends told her it was my birthday.

The food here is incredible.
The food here is incredible. Also, amazing drinks! Be prepared to drop some serious dough if you want to get full though. Each thing is very small so you'll want to order everything! Which I totally recommend if you can afford it!

I enjoyed the dark clublike decor with ample windows bringing in outside light at the restaurant. Ordering was made easy with a slip upon which you marked your selections. There were many small plates from which to choose. Fried items seemed to be a weakness for the kitchen, while the other plates we tried were quite tasty.

Good food/ great looking restaurant
I love a small plates restaurant and this place didn't disappoint. The service was attentive and helpful and the cocktail list was inventive. I'll be back to try some of the things I missed on my first visit.
4/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
New to dim sum, and our server was helpful and informative. The restaurant has a cool interior, I really loved the sidecar I ordered from the cocktail list, and enjoyed the food we ordered. I will definitely be back!

I highly recommend the fixed
I highly recommend the fixed $20 dim sum menu - great food and variety!

Good food, lots of fun. We've been to the one in Chinatown a few times, but this was our first visit to the one in Dupont Circle. We'll be back!

Brunch was great! Never had
Brunch was great! Never had to ask for a refill on the bottomless drinks, the waitress was on it! Food was also awesome and great choices, even with the limited brunch menu.

Unique dining experience.
Unique dining experience. Portions a little small but we enjoyed it.

Ping Pong Dim Sum is good food with a different and interesting way of ordering and being served. It all makes for a grand time out.
5/2/2013 4:00:00 PM
I brought my mother to brunch for Mother's Day. The place was wonderful, they had a complementary dumpling for my mom. The service was super attentive and helpful. I was actually really impressed. I couldn't believe how great our waiter was and the fact that the manager surprised us with a, according to my mom, delicious sea bass dumpling was so sweet. I also noticed that they had a room that could be sectioned off for parties. Each part of the place was sectioned making our experience there seem private and special. My only negative comment is a personal dislike of the golden vegetable dumpling, it had a werid spice to it that I didn't enjoy. Other then that ping pong's dim sum was wonderous.
5/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food was great! One could eat as little or as much as they were comfortable with given the "tapas-like" menu choices.
The service was quick and efficient, yet we were able to linger and relax as long as we wanted. Will definitely return.
5/19/2013 4:00:00 PM
REALLY need authentic dim sum?
If you do, then don't go here - it's more Asian fusion than true dim sum. But the food was pretty tasty, if a little pedestrian, and happy hour (4-7) is a great deal.
5/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
I went with a group of my girlfriends and we all LOVED the cocktails we got. They were strong but delicious and very well presented. The happy hour specials are great, and I bet the brunch would be well worth the money, too. We all ate plenty but not too much, and the decor was very interesting. Top it off with a easy-to-access location and I'd say it's worth a try for anyone.
Not positive I LOVED the food, but we were also eating vegetarian only food (not my style) so I can't say it was bad.
5/30/2013 4:00:00 PM
Good for vegetarians
Whenever my vegetarian mother comes for a visit, I always spend about an hour looking for a restaurant that has more than one vegetarian choice. About one third of Ping Pong's menu is vegetarian friendly. All the food was very good.
6/1/2013 4:00:00 PM
Different and good!
WE had 3 kids with us and food was coming out left and right which kept them eating and distracted! Ambience was nice and food was excellent. We had the tasting menu for 2 at $50 was good but not a fan of the 7 steamed dumpling items. I would suggest the soft shell crab tempura the Vietnamese spring rolls, the chicken sticky buns and the pork dumplings.. with jasmine rice, that is plenty dont need the $50 for two unless you are starving! Ginger cake for dessert is a must!
6/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went for a Sunday brunch and thinking about going back this Sunday. LOVED the style in which they supply the mimosas. A bottle of champagne at the table with an array of mixers is a brilliant idea! Loved the vegetarian dishes and chicken. Especially the spicy chicken spring rolls. Must try the lemonade, also very fresh tasting.
6/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Very Good Food But Expensive
Be careful, portions are small and you wind up running up your tab before you know it. They say three per person is enough; I say you'll leave hungry.
6/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
I love this restaurant, and
I love this restaurant, and the food is amazing! Our waitress was also excellent. The only problem with outdoor seating right now is all of the construction being done outside the restaurant (which is obviously not their fault). Thanks for a great meal!
6/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good For HH, a bit loud for Dinnner
I've gone here for happy hour before, their wine and cocktail list and happy hour deals are pretty good. Their beer list is a little lacking, but they have yeungling so I'm good. I went for dinner the other night, and we sat outside which was lovely. I went inside though, and it was quite loud, would have been a bit loud for eating inside. Service was also only ok, but I'll attribute that to us ordering slowly and our server ending his shift; he was replaced half way through dinner. The dim sum was very good.
6/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great for celebration
Love being able to choose numerous plates and a wide variety of foods! A few misses, but overall some delicious items, particularly the soft shell crab and pork shu mai - :) We look forward to our next visit!
6/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great for Sharing!
Delicious little dishes that are excellent for sharing with friends. Order a whole bunch and sample them all! Softshell crab is really good; so are the mushroom and spinach dumplings. My favorite are the char sui buns :).

Really great food and service!
Ping Pong definitely knows how to do everything right! After having a little problem with gift cards, they were able to solve it for us. Dinner was wonderful, Friday late happy hour was also really great.

Vegetarian Friendly Option in DC
We had only vegetarian items and they were all well made and presented. Nice variety of sauces. Of particular note was the vegetarian won ton soup: the broth was very rich tasting and that is rare indeed. Our particular server was not the warmest person I've met, but that should not deter you from sampling the outstanding food. There are precious few vegetarian options in DC and this should be on your list.

we love Ping Pong Dim Sum
We eat at Ping Pong about once a month. We love the food and the great service. However, I will tell you that eating inside can be a bit of a challenge because the place is always busy and at times the noise level gets a bit high and it is hard to chat. We found that on most nights if we head there before 6 Pm or after 8PM it is a lot quieter. On this visit we ate outside which was really nice since it was an unusually cool night for DC. I don't think you can go wrong eating here. These are small portions meals so you just keep ordering a variety of different things to excite your taste buds until you are full. There is rarely a long lapse of time between ordering and receiving your food. The mixed drinks are great! Enjoy!
7/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
We didn't order this...
I've been to this restaurant three or four times and each time we've either been served at least one wrong dish or had dishes belonging to another table delivered to ours. And this time the "computer was down," so several dishes took forever to arrive. Initially we wrote it off as opening jitters, but they've been open long enough now that they should have the bugs worked out of their system.

I alwasy enjoy visiting Ping Pong!
I like the food and atmosphere. Great food and drink!!I usually go to China town one which is also very nice but too noisy with the music. This DuPont one is quieter (it would be better if it is even more quiet) as hard to talk to friends.

2nd Time Around is the Test
Visited PP awhile back and was impressed enough to return for a celebratory dinner with family. Middle of the week crowd, so it was only half full. Service was perfunctory, not very warm, but food came out quickly and we feasted on a variety of choices, from meat to vegan. all excellent, though the sea bass was a little too "fishy" for my taste. Ginger pork ribs were excellent as was the fried eggplant. Jasmine tea is among my favorites. Great place to hang out and eat but not come away too stuffed.
8/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food and wonderful service
Ping Pong is one of my favorite places to take my friends! Selections of dishes are excellent!

Great Food and Service
I went to Ping Pong for their price fix brunch. They have a great selection of food options available and the waitress was really helpful in selecting items. The food came out quickly and was DELICIOUS, particularly the fluffly bun pork option (my favorite). Next time I'll try the bottomless mimosas - looked good.

Prix Fixe is the way to go
Had a great dinner here with two other colleagues - we selected the fixed price menu for three which was a terrific value! Only complaint is that the food came out too fast - plates piled up and we felt a little rushed . That said, servers were very attentive and helpful throughout the experience. Definitely will be back.

Amazing as always
I am still in my first year in DC (I know that is no longer new) but this is one of my favorite spots in DC. I have been multiple times now and every time the food and the service are outstanding. I also love how easy it is to reserve on the OpenTable app!
8/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good dim sum, with a DC twist
The dim sum seemed pretty traditional. The pork buns reminded me of Hong Kong dim sum - a good thing!
Unlike every other dim sum experience i have had, this place had you order off a menu and waiters brought it to the table from the kitchen. No carts getting pushed around at this dim sum restaurant. Took away a little from the traditional experience, but then I suppose that would not be "hip" enough for the Dupont location where they spent the money on trendy decor instead.

What a Fun Dinner
I love Ping Pong! Certainly one of my favorite restaurants after first having it in London. I was just delighted to see DC had a couple as well. The dim sum is out of this world and the ambiance of the place just makes for a very fun night out. With the great food and fun tapas style ordering, it is great for a date or just out with friends.

Another Great Meal
We need to be coming here more often. The food was outstanding. The service was lovely. The drinks delicious. I"ve now dined there as a couple (several times), with friends, and thrown a large party (80+ guests) there. Each time Ping Pong has been spot on and appropriate to each different occasion. I was thrilled on this visit to try the calamari and the seafood dumplings, I had missed those on previous visits. Outstanding. And as always the char sui buns are still one of my favorites. The only problem I had on this visit was that my girlfriends were too full for dessert. Next time.

Great Living Social Deal
We got the 5 course Living Social deal that came with 2 cocktails and a bottle of prosecco and were very happy with just about everything. The service wasn't the absolute best as our server seemed to be a bit annoyed with us, the second course was brought before the first course, and two of the courses were piled on top of each other, but overall the food was tasty and the value made any of the other issues easy to overlook. Deserts were particularly yummy. I'm not sure I'd go back again, since the music was cheesy and the restaurant had a definite chain feel to it with all of their desperate-sounding, loudly proclaimed promotions printed everywhere, and the general vibe wasn't quite my scene, but this was a good intro to dim sum.

The service was wonderful;
The service was wonderful; from the time that we arrived for lunch until the end. We had only planned to be there for an hour but it was such a comfortable enviornment that we ended up staying for two hours. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. The food arrived at our table at various times, as they are served immediately after taken off the stove. I enjoyed sampling the small dishes with my friend; about 2 dishes per person and a bowl of soup was enough to satisfy our hunger.

Dim Sum Fun
This was my first experience with Dim Sum dining. The menu is served as small plate items; you order throughout the meal from a checklist style paper menu. if you really like any particular thing you can order additional servings from the checklist. Our waiter was engaging and friendly. He managed to keep track of the checklist in spite of our random voraciousness.
The meal was so much fun.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great change of pace
You can't find many places that serve good quality dim sum for dinner. Normally a bruch/lunch cuisine, it was nice to be able to have it for dinner. Was a little pricier than I anticipated but as in most dim sum places, we just kept ordering. Ordered way too much food! It's not SF Chinatown quality but close!
10/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was good and was not the typical dim sum, which was fun for a change of pace--more of an asian fusion vibe. Service was good but dwindled as the meal went on and as the restaurant got busier.
10/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Sharing Menu Has Hits and Misses
The sharing menu is a smart option if you've never had dim sum, don't know what you like, and want to get a feel for many of the options on the menu. The baked and fried items had a nice balance of crunchy and soft textures and my dining partner and I agreed that our favorite dishes were the vietnamese rice paper shrimp rolls and the crispy potato cakes (think: deep fried mashed potatoes). We were less inclined to the steamed dishes, especially the steamed seafood, which was very mushy and lacked a flavor variety. One tasted like tuna encased in a squishy, steamed breading. The chicken, pineapple and lemongrass dumplings were the exception - excellent in flavor and the pineapple provided a crunchy burst of sweet juice along the way.

We had a dinner with our friends
We had a dinner with our friends on Monday. Such a wonderful place to be. The atmosphere was very comfortable, food delicious and great choice of drinks. On Monday they have few great drinks in the Happy Hour price for the whole evening! We will pay visit there soon...
We also can not forget about the service -our server was very helpful and even manager of the restaurant had few words with us during a dinner- we felt warmly welcome. Thank you!

Really enjoyed the restaurant. The service was wonderful and so was the food! Thanks for an enjoyable experience.
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
good food, a bit overpriced
Went on living social deal. Great service, good food. Don't go there too hungry, its a bit overpriced if you wanted more than 3 parcels of whatever. Think it would be a good pre-show snack/happy hour place.

Good Food, Fun Ambiance, Bit Pricey
The food was very good, except for the fish dishes. No one in our group seemed pleased with those. The ambiance is fun and romantic. The drinks were also very good. Getting our bill at the end of the night was VERY surprising. Just seemed like a lot considering the number of drinks we had and the fact we ate TAPAS all night. Worth checking out though.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Cool, Different and Delicious
This is a fun way to try lots of delicious bites. It's like Chinese tapas. The decor is cool and I loved everything I tried. The sesame chocolate dessert was fabulous.

The food is not great, but its a fun place with good cocktails, Its a great place to jut catch up with friends, with a focus on the company and the ambience rather than the food
