Great neighborhood gem in Georgtown
Great spot in Georgetown just off the main street. Solid French fare at reasonable prices. Went with my French in-laws and the food passed the test! We also had our three young children with us and the owner and wait staff were very friendly and accommodating.

We were in Washington DC for
We were in Washington DC for a special occasion and chose to dine at Cafe La Ruche again after being there one other time. We enjoyed the French cuisine and attentive staff! We were welcomed (I think by the owner) with "Bonjour Madame" and the rest of the evening was equally pleasant! In our party of 6, we ordered 5 different entrees and all were prepared with attention to quality and detail including food allergies. We look forward to returning to Cafe La Ruche!

Good food, pretty good service
I would have preferred the server a little more attentive and the host a big less aloof, but the food was good.

Great Outdoor Dining
A very nice venue is offered for dining outdoors. Very good food with very good service, and the best French onion soup in the city!

Great Georgetown Discovery
Was looking for a quick bite to eat at the end of a long day of touring DC. Found the restaurant using opentable and had a wonderful experience. We asked for a bottle of wine and instead of giving us something off the list the manager brought us something special he suggested. Enjoyed incredible french onion soup as an appetizer. Both of us had the crabcakes for dinner. A solid 4/5 crabcake, though not out of this world incredible. The desserts were great. Banana dessert was awesome!

Coq au Vin
Highly recommend the coq au vin and the quiche. We had a perfect night to eat outside. Great find!

Excellent Food and Dessert
This small and intimate bistro in Georgetown is excellent for couples and family dining. The ambiance is reminiscent of a small Parisian cafe with great food and romantic French music playing in the background. Step outside and you will think that you are in Paris enjoying a glass of wine, or an excellent French meal. The Spicy lamb sausages had just enough kick to enliven your taste buds, and the apple dumpling dessert is not to be missed. Fluffy pastry crust with warm apples with a small chocolate square on top make this a gastronomic feast. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you will feel like you are in heaven. Definitely worth the trip to Georgetown.

A cozy place
Cafe La Ruche never disappoints and the evening I met a friend for dinner was no exception. Although most customers took advantage of eating outside, we decided to stay in and were given a table by the front window. Dinner was unhurried and the staff ensured water glasses were filled as well as our wine (if we needed more). The highlight was, of course, dessert which brought back funny memories of when we use to work in Georgetown (dessert lunch, anyone?) The Cafe gave us time to catch up on things and relax from the humdrum work world. Thank you, Cafe La Ruche for a relaxing evening.

France on the Potomac
If you want to eat a fabulous meal AND you like French food and Georgetown, then Cafe' LaRuche is the place to go. It is consistently great. It is nestled on a side street within view of the Potomac River and the lovely park next to the Georgetown day dock. I have been eating here for years and I have NEVER been disappointed. I have travelled throughout France and work for a French Chef , Chef Bernard. Cafe' LaRuche gets gold stars from me.

Food was excellent, and service
Food was excellent, and service was fine. Some delay caused by kitchen mishap. Overall enjoyable.

Not sure if this is a local attraction or a place for tourists, but it was not very crowded the night I was there. The food was excellent and the atmosphere good. Nice patio for outdoor dining.

Right down to the St. Emilion wine, pate with pheasant and pistachio, and steak frite, what could be more French? We dined outdoors under a beaux-arts sign, the outdoor area could use... something... plants? vines on the wall? umbrellas for the tables (even at night)? Just to up the ambiance.
But the food was great. Fabulous dessert and great coffee to finish, plus a bit of Armagnac, and we were off for an after-dinner stroll along the Georgetown waterfront, just down the hill. We'll come back soon for indoor dining as the weather turns cool.

Outstanding gem in Georgetown
Went there for lunch for the first time and was delightfully suprised. Elegant and understated atmosphere. Had the onion soup and the braised pork and both were outstanding. Great (unfrench) service. Would definitely return.

Nice lunch before boatride
I took my parents for lunch before our fall foliage tour. My mother enjoyed her crab quiche, and she is a picky eater! The gazpacho was also very good. Excellent coffee!

Good place for a girls' brunch. Had a great Eggs Benedict and mimosa, and my friends enjoyed their food as well!

Back after 25 years
My wife and then two young boys got caught one night in an unforecast snow storm trying to get back from an appointment in NW DC. I was stuck in the Pentagon. They found La Ruche and hung out there. I took the new Metro to Rosslyn and walked through the storm like Dr. Zhivago, and we all had a memorable, warm evening at La Ruche, and we still talk about it. This past weekend, my wife and I treated our oldest, his wife and the three grandkids to the Nutcracker Ballet at Kennedy Center and then walked over to La Ruche. It's been modernized and updated, but I felt the same warm ambience when we walked in. The food was delicious, the service was wonderful, and we had a wonderful time. We then walked home to Rosslyn. A perfect day!

Early Saturday dinner
We had not been to LaRuche in a few years and decided to go after taking young daughter to show at Kennedy Center. Beef bourgeognon and coq au vin were very good. French onion soup was ok. Service and price were excellent.
