Went for my birthday with my boyfriend and our waiter, Dane, was excellent. The food was top notch. Note that it is on the pricey side, but you definitely get your dollars worth. Will definitely be there again.

Great Evening & meal!
Loved it! The food was great. We brought our son and his family. We sat at a table near a window overlooking St. Charles Ave. My 3 yr old grandson stood in the open window and waved to the people on the streetcars as they passed by. They have a kids menu. They have a wonderful selection of beers, some local. We really enjoyed the food and topped it off with dessert and Irish Coffee. 6 people at apps, dinner, dessert and had drinks including tip, just over $200. Well worth it! I would recommend. The upstairs is very nice for parties and they are very willing to fulfill special request. There is some off street parking and outdoor seating. While we were there, we were entertained by the live performance of Irish music.

Best of the Irish
Matt Murphy has put together a fun place with great food. Well worth yhe visit.

A true Irish Pub feel but with a great chef. The bartender was great and was full of great advice about the many beers available.

I really like this place
Irish House's food is outstanding. Service is great, and the ambience is perfect. My only wish is that they had more moderately priced items on the menu (other than the Banger and Mash and Fish and Chips), because this place can get really expensive, but it is worth it.

We love the Irish House--the food is wonderful (I had the cider braised pork cheeks--to die for!) We took my mother, sister and brother in law and they loved it too. Our waiter, Emanuel, was friendly and helpful, and Chef Matt Murphy greeted us warmly at the door (a particular thrill for my mother, who had seen the Chopped episode and thought Chef Matt was mighty cute.) The experience was quite enjoyable and a good time was had by all. The only negative was the noise level--the music was extremely loud and relentless, and although the singer was talented, we couldn't converse at the table without shouting.

The food was great, as was the service. It's a nice change of pace from more traditional menus.

Always a Treat
If they were any closer, I'd be walking over regularly. The food and service are excellent. It's getting harder and harder to find both: excellent service and food at the same restaurant.

Uptown New Orleans Irish find
The food was New Orleans Irish- a bit upscale from typical fish and chips. Live Irish folksinger added to the ambience. We went early (7PM) so the place was just getting up to speed with lots of locals dropping by. The owners have five kids, so kids are welcome - there are even toys to play with. Definitely worth a visit.

Great Irish food and spirits! Warm friendly service.

The food exceeded our expectations!
The food exceeded our expectations! The Banana Oatmeal Pancakes with Irish whiskey caramel syrup was absolutely outta sight! I loved the bubble and squeak omelet with side of mashed potatoes and cabbage. The chicken and waffles with ratatouille was savory though the waffle quickly gets soggy, but might have had more to do with the 7-year old who would rather play while he eats. The kids meals including ham and cheese sandwich and buttered pasta were actually quite delicious. Our only minor complaint was the missing English muffin and bacon from my and my wife's plates. Overall, we loved the food and atmosphere and Owner/Chef Matt Murphy himself escorted my family in from the rain with an umbrella--brilliant chef AND gentleman. Thanks

Irish in New Orleans
Beautiful pub house on St. Charles. The drinks are varied and superb- beer, wine, Sazerac, etc. The beet salad, bangers, fish 'n chips, and shrimp and artichoke risotto were excellent. And Dane, our waitter, was friendly, knowledgeable and awesome!
Sending friends already. Our new stop in NOLA,

Great food, too noisy
A nice innovative menu here, something for everyone, and warm "Irish" decor without being cutesy. But oh my heavens is it noisy! Can't hear yourself think. But a good choice for when you are in the Garden District.
5/3/2013 4:00:00 PM
nice change of pace
We had dinner plans fall thru on Saturday night of the second weekend of jazzfest and decided to try the Irish House.
Wow! were we glad we did! It was a nice change of pace from the creole and cajun food we'd been enjoying. I enjoyed a proper pint of Guinness.
My wife is a vegetarian and they have little for vegetarians on the menu. they'll probably not be happy for me telling this, but I have to give kudos to all involved.
Our waitress tried as hard as she could to accommodate my wife's diet but finally called in Chef Justin who came out of the kitchen and consulted with my wife, then whipped up a fantastic dish that delighted and amazed her.
Go to the Irish House.

Have had great experiences every time we have gone to eat here. Great for celebrations large or small. The live entertainment is always a nice touch and its great to have another place for viewing soccer matches.

This was our second time enjoying
This was our second time enjoying The Irish House for Mother's Day brunch. The service this time, however, was a little subpar as food came out in waves and the condiments (ketchup, cream/sugar for coffee, jam for biscuits served) were always having to be requested and took a while to be retrieved. Despite such, the atmosphere is always fun and it's a nice place for a group to go and enjoy a solid meal. The food is good, not spectacular.
5/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
The Irish House has become one of our favorite New Orleans restaurants.
5/11/2013 4:00:00 PM
We had a group of 10. Service was great. The bench seat wasn't very comfortable . It was low and tilted back.
Everyone ate different food- breakfast and lunch fare. All were happy with what they had.
5/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
High quality food in a bar atmosphere. Reasonably priced for the quality an excellent service. A huge selection of beers, and a large selection of cocktails, with a good wine variety. A real chef inspired menu.

Family Pub with Great Grub
Always happy with our trips to the Irish House. Great place for lunch, brunch, and dinner ... even with the kids.

Irish food in New Orleans?
Why, yes, and it was delicious. The chef uses lots of local ingredients so it's more Irish based with local items like redfish. We all enjoyed our dinners.
There was a band playing Irish music that reportedly plays on Monday nights. Nice.
The place is very noisy, but so many restaurants are. That would make it kid-friendly as you won't worry your child is annoying other.
Wine list is mostly grocery store stuff so probably best to stick to beer.

Thank you Irish House
We were in New Orleans for my parent's 50th anniversary and went to Irish House because my sister and niece are fans of Chef Matt Murphy who won an episode of chopped. He was generous and warm-hearted, coming out of the kitchen to meet them and then participated in a traditional Irish music session. His food was absolutely fantastic. I recommend the lamb shank. When he found out it was my parents anniversary he had a lovely desert brought out to mark the occasion. All of his staff were fantastic and he took my young niece and nephew back into the kitchen to meet the staff and have fun - great pix. I can only say that we not only felt welcomed but literally like a part of the family. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Something Other Than Cajan
If you are in NOLA and looking for something a bit different, try The Irish House. The atmosphere is authentic and wait staff were very attentive. Being traditionalist we went for fish and chips all around. Mind you it is American style, well more Japanese tempura fish however the flavor was excellent. The chips on the other hand were not. I've had better fries at McDonald's. We sampled a few of their signature cocktails and were few pleased especially the ginger flavored drinks. As it was a celebration that brought us there we had our own birthday cake for desert but the staff refrigerated the cake and brought us plates, silverware, and a serving knife to use. Overall we enjoyed our meal and would return.

Great Irish Food
Great great food. We brunched, and it was awesome. We toasted the memory of our friend's late father with a couple of "Shots" of Guinness! You can definitely taste the Irish in the cooking. We all were satisfied, even my 3 yr old. She loved her pancake! The only drawback was that the server seemed a little distracted and disinterested in our experience, and it took him a while to get back to our table several times throughout the meal. Tough to get our drinks refilled! Also he was not very helpful with the menu items. However the last time we all went to the Irish House our server was EXCELLENT! Very good we tipped her bigtime! Overall ambiance is phenomenal, and the food is top rate.
Will definitely come again. And tell our friends too!

Hit and miss
Went to the Irish House for dinner. Had a chicken tart appetizer that was absolutely outstanding! They were out of several things on
the menu. Crab cake was good.....fish and chips were not the best. Irish coffee and caramel apple bread pudding were great! Menu had a variety of items on it.....I was in a dilemma over the pan fried farmers cheese salad over crabmeat and tomato. Should have tried crabmeat and tomato instead.

Irish House Review
Enjoyed the ambiance. Service was pretty slow. Waited quite a while between waiter's visits to table.

Better Than Expected
We had heard about the Irish House through newspaper reviews and word-of-mouth, but our experience was even better than we anticipated. The food was excellent. We had a friendly waitress. One thing that my husband and I look for in a restaurant is fine dining food without the stuffy atmosphere. We found that at the Irish House. Patrons can wear whatever they want and not feel under dressed. The restaurant even has a play area set up for kids with toys and books. That was awesome, because it allowed us adults to enjoy our conversation while our 7-yr old was entertained. Definitely going back.
6/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
The service was good and the brunch menu had everything from eggs and bacon to Bangers and Mash. Went with a party of seven and eveyone liked what they ordered and would go again.

Wonderful Irish Restaraunt!!
I had a great Father's Day celebration @ The Irish House. Sunday brunch on the avenue proved to be a memorable and pleasant experience. Can't wait to return for a taste of their dinner menu. Service was excellent. Shepherd Pie was delicious.

One word. "Awesome"!!!!!!!
First time visit great food , prices good, and on site free parking!!!!!

What a fun place to eat!
I ate here with my 4 year old daughter. The table location was perfect, away from the pub area, but close enough to enjoy the live music. My daughter really enjoyed it! The food was delicious. Since it was my first time there, I ordered based on the server's recommendations and was pleased with everything. Try the short ribs - you won't be disappointed! Plan to take a cab or get a designated driver - there is an extensive drink menu. If you drive, there is some parking available on the side of the building. We had a wonderful experience and definitely plan to return soon.
6/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Located on St. Charles makes it super easy to get to. Obviously a popular local spot. The atmosphere is nice. The food is terrific! The only down side we experienced was the noise level inside. The place was full and between the live music and everyone talking, it was very loud. Nevertheless, we will return next time we visit NO.
6/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Highly recommend this a stopping place while visiting Nawlins. Great food -- authentic bangers and mash.

Felt like being on vacation, very pleasing to the senses and very refreshing. Brunch was excellent, service too.considering its in the city and on St. Charles the prices were reasonable. Would go back again.

Great food, fast service, lovely people, and awesome music.

Wow. We had the Bangers and Mash and the Fish & Chips. I've never been to Ireland, but I can't imagine those dishes being better than these!
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Located near downtown, easy parking, friendly people and super food. A little different, in a town filled with foodies and some of the best dining in America. Home-made bread (great), and unusual fare, along with some of the expected. Want to go back for the Irish music at night too! Bar knows how mix as well.
8/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent Irish food and drinks!
We had a party of eight. Everyone ordered something different and everyone loved their meal! The whiskey selection was quite impressive! Loved finishing with desert and an Irish Coffee.

While in New Orleans on business, my wife and I heard about The Irish House...we took a chance and we were really glad that we did. From the moment we entered, we were treated like Irish royalty and taken well care of. The food was astonishingly good. It was pub food, yet not. It was like pub food raised to the highest power. My short ribs melted in the mouth. My wife's chicken was superb. It is very sad that the Irish House is not in Saint Louis where we live...we don't get down to NOLA a lot, and so we won't be able to sample the rest of the menu-- which looked every bit as wonderful as what we picked. Kudos to the Irish House!!

Great experience all the way around! The food was wonderful, the staff friendly and upbeat and the atmosphere was great. There was live Irish music and the chef, Matt Murphy is friendly and takes the time to come to sit and visit at your table.

The food was Irish. Not my favorite, but ok. It lacked the pizazz I like in a dining experience. Just a bit bland for my taste. However, the Irish coffee was to die for. OUr waiter was quite efficient and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our time.

good food and drink
Overall enjoyed our experience. We had a Guinness at the bar then went to a table. The spicy slaw on the oyster appetizer was delicious. I had the scallops and my husband had the pork. The scallops were lovely but the entree was tiny for the price. would not order again. Did not cover 1/4 of the plate. Toffee bread pudding was great and we did an Irish whiskey tasting. Was not offered bread, servers never told us their names, someone bussed all of our silver after the appetizer and we had to ask for more. Was good, I just wanted to LOVE it. Too many other great places in the city. Maybe just an off night?

Great breakfast at The Irish House
We took our 18mo to breakfast Sunday at 8:30am. The food was delicious! The ambiance of the pub is authentic. Very cool place. A great change of pace from the typical NOLA scene.

A bit of Erin in NOLA
we found The Irish house after a vacation in Scotland and Ireland. we were pining for some of the local foods that we had enjoyed when we were introduced to The Irish House. Excellent menu with all the flavors we experienced on the Emerald Isle. when there don't forget desert the sticky pudding is as authentic as it gets. Bon Appetit !

Very pleasant Irish restaurant
Very good food. Reasonable price for NOLA. Some creativity. I had the slow cooked short ribs on top of hash browns and under an andoui sauce. All topped with a fried egg. Yum! For a starter I had the tomato soup with smoked mussels. Excellent. Pleasant sports pub restaurant environment with plenty of TVs. However, it wasn't so noisy that you couldn't have a conversation. Would definitely go back.

Hospitality with Taste
The food choices are mostly upscale, and well-rendered, versions of pub food that we've enjoyed quite a bit. The beer, wine, and especially whiskey choices are great, and the service has been very friendly (though a bit leisurely paced, if that bothers you). The real draw here, though, is the convivial atmosphere; we've had lovely dinners after benefiting from generous happy hour specials, as well as a great brunch and lunch, and each time they've done a great job accommodating medium to large parties. Once, when it was just my wife, baby, and me, our food was very late coming out; the manager came out to apologize and comp-ed us the majority of our meal -- an unnecessary but appreciated generosity. Great place, we'll be back!

We had a great time this past
We had a great time this past saturday nite; we went to celebrate my husband's birthday and needed a place that was kid friendly but still an adult environment- The Irish house was perfect!! they had an irish jam session that included dancing! a ton of fun for all ages and it just felt like being in Ireland! Food was great too but truthfully i only had the pumpkin soup- it was spectacular! i was just having too much fun dancing with my 5 year old!
