A memorable meal!
The rabbit was the best I have ever had. The osso bucco fell off the bone and was absolutely delicious. We drank a bottle of very well priced Sicillian wine that was perfect with both dishes. Finished off with caramel salted pan a cotta which was to die for! We will definitely be back.

Amazing food. We ordered the charcuterie (highlights: whipped rabbit and pâté; lowlight: lardo) as well as the rabbit ragu (subtle but exquisite flavors) and the lasagnette (homemade pasta with to-die-for duck bolognese). No room for dessert, but those looked good too. Yum!

Wonderful charcuterie and rabbit with polenta. Want to come back to try the duck frites I saw at the next table.

Fantastic food! Noise level
Fantastic food! Noise level was high, and service was spotty, but the food was really amazing. Special shout out to the charcuterie. Next time we go, we're just going to order all those tasty bites! Rabbit ragu over polenta was delightful. A bit broader range of desserts wouldn't hurt.

The food was excellent and the staff was very good. The restuarant is relaxing. It is a place that I will return to and recommend to my friends.

Gastro pub overpriced.
Somebody recommended it. It seemed like a nice idea.
The butter lettuce is small and oily. By that I means they drench the salad
in dressing. Which is I guess OK for a pub but I like non drowsed salad.
The house Charcuterie is very nice. But basically this is just a board with some cut meats, pickles and toast.
The Kobe steak was $27 for a few pieces of meat.
So all in all, if you want some fancy food in small portions at a pub.
Then it is all you.
Personally since I can cook and I am especially gifted in slicing salami and pastrami while serving myself a beer. I don't think I would go back due to the high prices.
However this place is miles and miles better than the usual pubs/bars you have around and is an ok mix alb

I went to this restaurant on a Friday evening with two other friends. The restaurant was very full, so make sure you have a reservation to avoid disappointment. Even though they were very busy the waiters would top up our glasses constantly with the drinks that we had on the table which was nice. The food was so good! We had a trio of meats for starter (duck, salami and the rabbit pâté) and then the rabbit ragout for main. It was absolutely delicious! Super flavoursome! Unfortunately we had no room for dessert because all of us cleaned our plates! Definitely recommend!

We placed our selves in the hands of Aurelia after a short chat. We were glad.
She Rxed Her favorites, suggested we share it all & brought it at a nice pace
and didn't hang around too long .
Very Cool & different. You can really taste the difference between all
the meats due to restrained use of spices. All the pickled things are an
& best of all there aren't any vegetarians or vegans bothering the waitstaff
We'll be back!

Amazing Rabbit Palenta
Foodies spot. The Rabbit Palenta was out of this world, one of the best meals I've had in SF over the 9 years I've lived here. One of a kind.

Very rich food and great beer list
It was a great pre-show dinner for Marsh theater. The food is very decadent and rich...we had the charcuterie board with rabbit ciccioli, smoked duck breast (yum!), and pate de campagna. It was all good. Then the bone marrow gratin that was omg rich and delicious with excellent onion relish condiment to balance out each fatty bite. The place is popular and we got there early and service was quick. Burgers were ordered medium and came out medium-well, very cooked inside (not a hint of pink) and charred outside. Good fries.
The only thing to watch out for is they mis-counted our beers (they fixed it) and they charged more than the menu price for each one (they wouldn't fix it). Great food and will be careful to check the bill next time.

Yes its definetly the hare!
Its the hare I tell you loved the rabbit polenta, the trout wasnt bad either, but the hare won this race. We had a mix of the appetizers which were good perosonlly I really liked the duck. The bone marrow was a nice little added touch to mix. But, overall I would have to say the food was very well prepared. Place was not too crowded, so I guess that made things a little more mangeable for the waitresses. Speaking of ours was very versed on the menu and what choices would go together for a better dinning experience. Kudos to the staff!!!

Our French Friends
We wanted to show our French visitors the Mission District so we started with dinner at Beast and the Hare before walking the streets to see local clubs etc. They loved the Wild Hog wine and bacon burgers!

We ate the farm
Sheep cheese, rabbit patè, prociutto, duck lasagnetta:) nice wine, and it was fantastic. The end.

Diamond in the rough
This has to be one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. It is quaint and cozy, the food is delicious and the staff is amazing. A must try!

Everything was great
Started with the charcuterie (x5) and each item was delicious and carefully presented. Shared two entrees between 3 people - the rabbit with polenta was gorgeous, and duck with eggplant unusual and delicious with a crispy skin. Desserts were a stand out. We tried the beignets, panna cotta and trio of ice cream - each one was superb. Nice portions sizes - we were satisfied but not stuffed. Single server did a great job. The only thing that took away from the evening was a super noisy group on the communal table in the middle. Not the restaurant's fault, but it was lovely when that woman left!

Good vibes, but no wow factor
Overall, the food was prepared very well & was quite delicious. We definitely enjoyed the charcuterie dishes over the entree dishes. The restaurant is a bit tight on comfy seating, so it is best to make a reservation in advance (like, at least 1 week in advance, because seats fill up fast). The restaurant gives off a cozy/friendly neighborhood hot-spot vibe. Noise level is very lively, & as I said before, the seating is a bit tight, so be prepared to rub elbows. Putting up a privacy curtain around the front door is a very courteous & delightful touch, so the patrons do not feel the chilling draft when other nosy patrons mistakenly leave the restaurant door propped open. Very friendly & satisfying service/wait-staff to top it all off.

The food was excellent. Had a great salad w/medjool dates and citrus segements. The Lasagnette was great as well. Friends enjoyed the steak tartar and burgers. The service was a bit slow for a not particularly busy time. We had to tell 2 different waiters that we had a show to get to before they switched into gear. Overall a pleasant experience and will go back.

Best salty meat around!
Fantastic, knowledgeable service, fun, unique bites, and a fresh of breath air in the bay area. Great to eat duck that is not duck confit and dim sum!
5/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Beast and the Hare had fresh, delicious food. Really, really good. We followed our server's recommendations for the charcuterie and they were fantastic.
The woman who served us was professional and fine, but she got our order wrong 3 or so times. She apologized for this, which was nice. Overall, I feel like she was probably just having a bad day.
I would recommend that the servers fill up diners' water cups more frequently.

i have been here a few times and each time the food and service have been consistently great. it's on my 'favorites' list!

Great Food, Great Staff
Maybe it's because we rushed to the restaurant but walking in it felt like an oven. Luckily we snagged one of the few outside tables and everything was uphill from there. Good variety of food, the service was considerate and quick, and reasonably priced for what we ordered. Thanks Beast and Hare!

Beast & the Hare: Foodie's Delight
Specializing in eat dishes, everything is made in-house. They have delicious appetizers and charcuterie offerings. They feature a small but focused menu including a vegetarian option and an interesting wine list. Yummy dessert options. I'll be back.
6/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
The burger here is GREAT- it happens to be one of the least expensive things on the menu as well! Two people at my table also tried two of the pasta dishes. They were both delicious but the portions were a bit small

Relaxed brunch spot
Really enjoyed Beast and the Hare for a group weekend brunch - the restaurant wasn't crowded and the staff were happy to give us all a lot of attention. While the menu isn't conventional brunch fare, it isn't intimidating, either - we really enjoyed the duck hash and the brunch salad was well received, too.
Overall, a great, very presentable place to spend a Sunday morning.

First time dining
Went for the first time on Tuesday night. Our waitress could not have been more professional and we had outstanding service. The $20.00 dinner special was excellent and I have recommended this restaurant already to several friends and clients.

the confit duck leg hash is wonderful! Although I think poached eggs might work better than fried eggs.

Good and easy
Got right in, happy friendly staff, über long wait for food, but it was quite yummy.
8/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
The service was excellent and the food was superb. We told our server we had a show to be at, so he rushed our order without making us feel rushed. Romantic atmosphere and each employee we came in contact with (three of them) were very welcoming.

One of Many
22nd and Guerrero has a restaurant on each corner and each has something unique to offer. I had a great time catching up with a friend at Beast and the Hare. The food was delicious, as was the wine. The decor was a little more casual than I had expected. It has a pub-like feeling, but don't let that deter you from good food and good conversation.
9/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
great meal... great value
they are doing a promotion for a tasting menu with beer pairing. it's 5 courses paired with 4 beers. it was my first time at the beast and the hare and it was an excellent opportunity to try out many of their dishes on the menu.
i would definitely go back.

Hidden gem in the Mission
I went to this restaurant with my friends for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the dishes that were offered. The ingredients are fresh and serving sizes just right. They have good beers on tap as well! We were there around 7 PM but quickly filled up towards 8 PM.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
awesome and unique food. Try the rabbit stew...so delicious!
11/18/2013 4:00:00 PM
Not for vegans...
...but really good chacuterie, small but well focused menu, and an similarly interesting wine list. Very friendly and helpful waitress as well. It was extremely quiet early on a week day but the food was very good.
11/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
Was surprised that one quarter of the menu was chacuterie. For main food options there was 2 pastas and 3 meats with one of them being a burger. There were 3 salad options but at $9 each that seemed pricy. Kale salad was grilled and unusual but over dressed so ask for dressing on the side. Did love the rabbit over polenta and would go back for that. Just don't go with vegetarians or non game or non pork eaters.
