I have to admit that I was
I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical of the place, based in part on the über hipster name. The food was excellent, however, and the atmosphere was of a nice, relaxed small neighborhood restaurant. Went after a movie at the Landmark Sunshine and were very happy with this place.

Had dinner with a group of friends here. The service was attentive and friendly. The drinks were tasty. The food was delicious. We had two different appetizers, the calamari and an octopus special for the night, both very good. Our group ordered the skirt steak and two fish dishes and were very pleased. We also ordered sides of butternut squash and kale and were happy with those as well. We had a salted caramel ice cream sundae for dessert which I liked but some thoughts was too salty. That was the only complain in an otherwise outstanding meal and great experience.

Very cute - specialize in
Very cute - specialize in the few dishes they have, great flavors! Didn't drink, but they all looked lovely as well. Very trendy. Would definitely go back!

Lovely spot in the East Village.
Fantastic food, great staff, perfect drink menu and wine list to compliment every dish of this well thought out, deliciously executed menu. Reservations are definitely the way to go, busy place. If you are doing dinner for two be advised that some of the tables are very close together. Also, for desert, you MUST try the Salted Caramel Ice Cream Sundae!!! It's amaze balls.

This is one of the best restaurants I have eaten in in a long time and I highly recommend it. The food was absolutely amazing, the chicken juicy and the trout perfectly cooked. The fries were so yummy as were the appetizers. Then we ordered 2 desserts to share among the 4 of us and felt we were in heaven. Our waiter was friendly, helpful and so nice. I went home after and made another reservation for my son's birthday. Treat yourself to a great meal and not too expensive.

Went here on a Saturday night
Went here on a Saturday night a 8:30. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. Our waiter was really friendly and helpful. He made the dinner comfortable and fun. We each had a kale salad which is great. It has fried onions and apples in it. I had a lamb special and my date had a pasta dish. The dinners didn't blow minds, but they were excellent. Next time, I'd try to find something more interesting on the menu.
The place got very crowded with people around 11. I think they were just there for the bar. It might have been overwhelming to arrive for a late dinner. If you're going to eat, I'd recommend 8:30 or earlier.

Expensive but good
I made a reservation for 6 people the day of and it was no problem (on a Monday). I was a bit worried because it seems that in NYC if your party is more than 4 people it came feel quite crowded They had a great booth in the back that fit the 6 of us, but it would seem that the rest f the tables were made for pair of 2 or 4. The waitress we had was really friendly and patient. We needed some time to look over the menu and she wasn't one of those waitresses that hee and haw over people taking a long time over the menu. She was also very sweet and knowledgeable about the items on the menu. It was quite a expensive but it was a special occasion and I would definitely go back again.

Love Goat Town
I've never had anything but an outstanding meal here, and I love the staff - excellent all around!

The food at Goat Town keeps
The food at Goat Town keeps getting better and better, and it's always been good. Love the fact that so much of the food comes from the vegetable garden out back!

Still my favorite
Can't stop going back to this one. Everything just works. Gorgeous

prices and portions get my goat
yes, its for foodies. and the cocktails are fantastic. including beer cocktails. refreshing, light and made well. I thought the menu had a strong vegertarian leaning. very few appetizers to choose and my dinner usually comes from apps. There was a nice fish, and pasta was good, but for 24.00 or chicken for 26.00, just thought it very overpriced for what I'm used to in E. village. service excellent and friendly. dessert menu needs expanding. good overall, thought there is room for improvement.

A "Fit for Foodies" Charmer
My cousin and her friend were visiting from out of town so I needed to find a restaurant that featured great cocktails, was fit for foodies and had several vegetarian options. Goat Town had availability for three and after cross-referencing reviews on Open Table with Yelp, I decided to give it a go.
Goat Town scored high on all points—food, cocktails, ambiance, service—and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. Simple, elegant food + great cocktails + warm, welcoming service = a 5-star experience.

Great food and service
Loved goat town! All our dishes were excellent, and the service was great too. We were there post theatre so it was a bit quiet, but we still had a great meal and never felt rushed. We'll definitely go back.

We have enjoyed dinner and brunch at Goat Town. The space is busy and energetic! Really enjoyable menu with fresh connections to the garden in the back yard. Service is amiable and makes you feel a part of the place. Overall we love it and will return!

LOVED GOAT TOWN AND TED
Came here on a muggy Monday night with a friend after seeing that there was a reservation available on OpenTable. We had the BEST experience, from the refreshingly delicious shandys to the artichoke and potato salads, made with fresh produce grown directly in the backyard. Our server, Ted, was a dream, focused on making sure we had the best time, and always smiling.
We will be returning again and again.

You gotta go to the Goat!
I dined at Goat Town for the first time and the experience was fantastic that began with a super friendly greeting from the entire staff upon saddling up to the bar. I was joined for dinner by a friend from San Francisco and I was mildly nervous as he is foodie and wine guy and cares a lot more about the food than I ever could.
We started with the grilled octopus that was done to perfection with a slightly crispy crust and firm moist flesh on the inside. My friend and I created our own "surf and turf" by sharing the Branzino and house cut steak. We should have actually ordered it all over again as we swept our plates clean in minutes and we were looking for more.
I highly recommend The Goat especially for folks w/foodies.

such an incredible find
This neighbourhood bistro came highly recommended - so much so that we trekked halfway across NYC to get there. It was worth it! We got a tour of the garden in the back where the staff grow much of what they cook. The food was incredible. Every time we put down a fork, someone was right there with service. It was truly a great experience.

This was a new find for me. Amazing service and the food was unique and delicious!

Great place for a small group
Goat Town was recommended to me by a coworker as a good spot to take my best friend visiting from DC for dinner. She, my boyfriend and I all shared the 5-cheese appetizer and really loved it. Really outstanding cheeses and the food was ready even before we were finished with the cheese. My best friend had the duck special and said it was spectacular. My boyfriend got the roasted chicken and gnocchi and we both loved it. I got the white bean and vegetable cassoulet, and I must admit I was unimpressed. It was fine, I was excited about it knowing that the vegetables came from the garden, but the flavors seemed out of season, it was more of a winter style dish, and fairly static in flavor. A lovely place, though, certainly recommended!

Tucked away neighborhood find
Goat Town is a little off the beaten path although it was a nice discovery! The food was great and the service was good. We went early (6:30) and it was deserted but in one hour it was full and vibrant. The side has fixed benches that are attached to the wall and I am only 5'2" and my feet were dangling like a little kid! Luckily I could rest my feet on the table stand but it was a little uncomfortable!

Creative menu, great use of garden grown vegetables and herbs.
Fennel infused cocktails A++; will return.

Goat Town Rules
Love this place. Always an eclectic, inventive menu with some weird but fresh ingredients. Late summer is a really good time to go - there's a pretty nice sized garden out back and a lot of those things are showing up in the menu now. Good bar, good service, edgy East village vibe.

What a find!
Apparently, the chef at Goat Town, is a former chef at Le Cirque, and it shows big time. Absolutely everything was sublime. The charcuterie with Fennel salami and 2 cheeses (goat was one) came with a very interesting assortment of other things, including tomatillo jam, and honey on the comb. I had the daily special: Hake with 3 kinds of zucchini: blossoms, stuffed with zucchini mousse, fried blossoms and sauteed, with fresh tomato on the fish. The pappardelle with artichoke was to die for. Unfortunately, we needed to run to a movie, or we could have had dessert.
An absolutely MUST!!!

My neighborhood go-to
Charming restaurant, great food, good prices. The service can slip a bit when it's busy, but it's nothing that even I won't forgive. Dinner is delicious, but brunch is even better.

Nothing to complain about
Every time I go to Goat Town the staff is alway very knowledgeable about the menu. Along with the service, the food and drinks are always outstanding.

Great date spot
Had a reservation for a Monday night at 745pm. Waitstaff was very friendly and patient. Fried chicken and waffles was the special for the night. Cocktails were very good and a limited but well thought out beer list. Food was very good and overpriced. Ambiance was nice and intimate, although the tables are pretty close to each other. Overall a vary nice dining experience and we'll be back there

perfect for what we wanted
We went for our 5th anniversary. It wasn't fancy or too expensive, so we got to live it up and try the cheese/charcuterie plate, oysters, crostini, shared salad, and two entrees. It felt like a real splurge without costing a fortune. We enjoyed the food and the lively atmosphere. We had a table by the window and it was a nice evening so we got to enjoy the neighborhood too.

Love Goat Town - been a bunch. Great neighborhood area, good food, great cocktails. Wonderful ambiance!

Goat Town is saved in my phonebook
Although the phone number didn't work to make a reservation, I still saved it in my phone and blamed telephone technology for the disconnect. Goat Town should be on everyone's east village dining list. I have always been satisfied from drinks to dessert. Always a sure-shot for a lovely meal and evening.
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
The service and the food were both outstanding. We will definitely be back on our next trip to New York.

Solid place but that's about it
I liked the overall ambiance and the food was ok. Out of 4 dishes we ordered lamb shank was by far the best. Everything else was okay.
