$25 four-course dinner is wonderful. Many options, several vegetarian. This place is beautiful, and it feels more like an event than just a dinner. A great place to spend a couple of hours over dinner, drinks, and then tea. Make reservations if it's a weekend.

Great food and dancing
Thanks Tanjia for a nice dinner with friends and colleagues. The belly dancer and waitress were were very friendly and accommodated the guests. Service was great, good food and the dancing, music and ambiance was very good. It was not too busy so we had plenty of space and the romantic couples, the families and the business partners all had space, attention and a good time!

Birthday at the Casbah
We weren't the only party celebrating a birthday that night - there were at least three others during the time we were there. All larger parties -- but the service was still terrific. Our waitress was super knowledgeable about the food and recommended a couple of combinations that were spot on. The belly-dancer did a great job. She was entertaining and added to our evening. The seafood cigars were terrific. Only improvement we could suggest - the sangria was on the sweet side. We'll be back!!

i had a girls night with 3
i had a girls night with 3 old friends at Tanjia and it was a perfect evening! the food was delicious - for vegetarians and fish/chicken/lamb-lovers alike. we all started with the soup, then had different bastillas (veggie/chicken/seafood) and different main courses - veggie couscous, fish, chicken and lamb. we loved all of it! we shared a bottle of sangria, which was also fantastic. the place was spotless and well-run...wait staff was attentive, but not too aggressive. and, we enjoyed the beautiful belly-dancing, without feeling any pressure to get up ourselves. i would recommend the restaurant to anyone i know and will definitely go back again - hopefully soon!

A little gem
In the Bay Area, there are so many restaurants it is very easy to overlook or not even notice what is out there. Tanjia, a Moroccan restaurant, is like that. You could easily pass it by and not really notice anything, as it looks like another storefront restaurant.
It is rather intimate, as there are not that many tables, although you do not feel crowded. You do feel transported to Morocco, as they have short tables, so you kind of hover over your food
They have simple dishes (lamb, chicken and fish), but they were prepared very well and presented in these steamer-like bowls. We were also surprised with a floor show, as we had a belly dancer come out and perform. She also gave some light lessons on how to dance. Please check it out.

We enjoyed the prix fixe menu, though the entree was a little light on the couscous for 3 people.
The belly dancer was a special extra we were not expecting and very enjoyable.

A Taste of Morocco
This was a first time visit. We chose "The Royal Crown" at $33 per person for six to give us a sampling of Moroccan cuisine. It was very tasty with the various lamb, chicken, seafood and vegetable offerings. We enjoyed the dining and the lively entertainment. It was a Thursday so the entertainment was provided by a belly dancer.

This restaurant is a little gem that needs to be discovered/re-discovered.
The food is wonderful, a discovery of new spices in dishes that melt in your mouth.
The ambiance is quiet enough so that you can have a wonderful conversation with other members of your dinner party, and still enjoy the belly dancing show.
The wine selection is very interesting because it is not your average around the corner wine, no :-)
You can taste wines from Maroc/ Morocco, Argentina, etc... as well as their Sangria version...simply delicious.

A Taste of Morocco in Oakland
I'm so glad that we found this little gem not far from our house. The service was great, the decor was beautiful, and the food was excellent. The variety on the menu was terrific, and as a vegan I was thrilled to see a tofu plate with vegetables and couscous. I will have to try to the tofu pastilla the next time we go. I would recommend it, especially if you are looking for something a little different.

Food was fairly good, although a bit pricey for the serving size. Belly dancing is always entertaining and kids enjoyed it. Service was adequate.
