This was our forth experience
This was our forth experience dining at Booker-Lewis. We are never disappointed. This particular visit was most pleasant because of the open table reservation. On a more personal note, I prefer the restaurant because of the white table cloth (as opposed to your arms sticking to the table at a "cat fish" joint where they wipe the table with the same rag used to clean chairs, etc.).(restaurants that dismis this concern are off my choice listings)
Our waitress on this occasion was very pleasant and efficient.

My husband and I thoroughly
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Booker-Lewis Restaurant. My steak was outstanding, cooked just like I like it and then improved with the sauce and carmelized onions!! He had the crab stuffed flounder which was absolutely delicious. The sides were just right for the entrees. We will definitely recommend this restaurant to all our friends (and we'll return as often as possible!)

The ambiance was great with a small dining experience. The food was fantastic and was very reasonably priced. The staff was very wonderful, courtious, and always available to fill an empty glass.

Dinner Friday night was exceptional. The Spinach Artichoke was out of this world. My husband and I both had steak, the ribeye and the top sirloin, on the recommendation of a friend and we were not disappointed! The roasted garlic mashed potatoes were so delicious and the vegetable medley was prepared to perfection! Service was fast and friendly. Our server was attentive, but not intrusive! Will be going back soon.

Excellent Find. No Fried Food!
In the heart of rural Louisiana, this was a a wonderful find. Beautiful setting and excellent food especially in an area where fried food is king. I had baked brie that was just right not too sweet and a spinach and strawberry salad that was delicious. There were fresh vegetables too which was so excellent. Not just green beans or corn swimming in butter but a vegetable medley or petite veggies cooked al dente. My husband had a steak that was cooked perfectly to his liking and the dessert was delicious. Not the usual cheesecake or key lime pie or tons of chocolate goo. It was a deliciously crumbly raspberry concoction . Well worth a visit.

Father's Day buffet
My husband, daughter and I dined in on Father's Day for the buffet. My 18 year daughter had not been before and I was looking forward to her first visit ans I was so impressed on my previous visits. She nor I were impressed. The food was good, but it wasn't even close to the meals I've ordered from the menu. I'll be back, just not for the buffets.

We discovered the Booker-Lewis a few years ago on an anniversary trip to the bed and breakfast a few years ago, had an unexpectedly good experience with the restaurant, and have been going back ever since. Chef John is personable and always willing to explain what he did and how he did it, and his "Surprise Me, Chef" entre' more than makes up for the limited menu (if you don't like what's offered, just ask for something else. Does it get better than that?) The wait staff is always helpful and doesn't turn over often, which helps them remember you and your preferences. The restaurant plans to expand the kitchen in the very near future, enabling a larger menu and faster service.

In a town with no chain restaurants, just fast food, this fills what many people consider shortcoming. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is charming! Diners know they are special by attention from the staff and often the chef is going around greeting diners and welcoming them. It is so personal.

Great chef. Dresses the part. Interested in individual response to his meal prepared.

What a pleasant surprise! We started off with the buffalo chicken skewers -- nothing to write home about, but I kept my hopes high. I then had the roasted red pepper soup, which was one of the specials. It was pretty good. For our entrees, I had the chicken cannelloni and my boyfriend had the tilapia, which was on special. We both enjoyed our entrees very much! In fact, we ate every scrap of food off the plates! For dessert, I had the creme brulee -- wonderful! I will definitely be back. The only thing that would have made the food even better would have been some homemade bread of some sort.

You must eat here!
This place is amazing for a date or just a night to take yourself out and celebrate being single. The food is fabulous, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is very elegant and relaxing. If you're in Leeseville you must eat here at least once. Stuffed mushroom caps abs creme brûlée are very tasty.

Great 4 Dates
A great place to take a date. Reasonably priced wines and dishes. The Veal Oscar was excellent. I been here twice enjoyed it both times. Probably the best restaurant in this area. If you're ever in Leesville Louisiana you must eat here.

The menu had a variety of courses that you unable to get anywhere else in Leesville. The only fine dining around. The taste and presentation was like nothing I have seen in this town.

First time ever visiting the Booker-Lewis Resaurant and we were not disappointed. I took my wife for her birthday and couldn't have selected a better place. The staff was excellent and attentive. Food was of great quality and portion size. We will be back.

Wonderful food and excellent service in a quiet charming and classy atmosphere.

I have lived in the area for 16 years and heard about Booker-Lewis but never went. Man, were we missing out! I took my wife to celebrate her birthday. I booked reservations online and when we arrived we were greeted and seated immediately. The hostess was very professional and courteous. When we said it was our first time there she took a moment to explain the menu and offer recommendations. The appetizer was AWESOME!! The meal was prepared in a timely manner and was portioned very well. My wife and I commented to each other how we enjoyed the ambiance (music, setting, lighting, etc.). I will go again and recommend this establishment to my friends!

We enjoyed a very quiet, scrumptious dinner on the veranda. The staff were very attentive without being bothersome. The food was delicious, definitely some of the best steaks I've tasted, cooked to perfection! An excellent location for a nice dinner or a special occasion. We highly recommend them and we will be back.

The best brunch hands down within a hundred mile radius.
9/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and dining experience. Can't wait to come back again. Keep up the good work!!

I'll be honest, Booker-Lewis benefits from being in Leesville, as it's really the only choice for non-chain, inspired food. We had the specials of the week, a lamb with a mushroom sauce that was perfectly cooked, and a sea bass that was brilliantly spiced. Very happy with the food, as we have been the previous 3-4 times we've been. The service is good, but we had to wait a few times, and one time our server forgot a request. She was very apologetic, and it doesn't particularly bother us, but in the interest of honesty I felt I needed to mention it. In a larger city with many options for gourmet food, B-L would have to step things up, but the food is certainly able to compete with comparable places in other locations, and we'll be back.

Had a wonderful evening on the porch listening to the rain and enjoying the wonderful food.

A great date
This was my first time visiting the Booker House. The entire experiences was great. My intent for choosing Booker House was to add some romance to a date and it was a hit. Both my date and myself were very impressed with the service, the food, and the atmosphere. I would recommend Booker House to any couple looking for a quiet romantic place meal.

Love this place.
Great environment for quiet dinner for 2. We look forward to the expanded menu once renovations are done.

Worth a visit
The food is very good and reasonably priced. The service was friendly, but a little too casual for what is advertised as "fine dining," and the waitress was unfamiliar with the menu (she looked across the table to the guest's menu) and the offerings (she was unfamiliar with and unable to pronounce Carbonara). Jeans and shorts and flip-flops are acceptable alongside coat and tie. The restaurant is located in a historic house with beautiful moldings; however there are sports trophies on the fireplace mantle and 1980s drapery on the windows. These issues downgrade the ambiance, but it is the only "special occasion" type restaurant in Leesville.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food is always delicious and the service is above and beyond. Never a disappointment.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
The best place to have lunch if your looking for good food and a quiet atmosphere to be able to talk without having to raise your voice.

Gem in West Central Louisianna
I was surprised to see an Open Table restaurant in the very small town of Leesville LA (Fort Polk). I wanted as special dinner for my son and I for Vetererans Day and his birthday. Great place. The chef and matre de actually read my special request on the reservation and were ready for us. Very nice meal, great service, friendly staff and a small boutique hotel to boot. When we do visit our son at Fort Polk we will definitely be back.

Booker Lewis is a must try if you are in Leesville/Fort Polk. It is the BEST dining you will find in the area. Best food, staff, service, etc. I could rave all day about this place. John Beck's Pub next door is awesome too!!
