Great food and drinks! Slow service
We had a fantastic brunch! Great food and cocktails! Service was a little slow though. Live jazz band was a nice touch.

We were back for another performanc
We were back for another performance by Calamity Chang and her talented colleagues in Room 69 burlesque. The place wasn't that crowded, but it meant we were able to enjoy the show without anyone standing in front of us or having to maneuver for a better view. As always, great food and service in a place we're pleased to visit regularly.

WOW! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Hotel Chantelle as a brunch spot! I have been here many times before at night when it is a lounge/bar and even then it has been a WONDERFUL experience. As far as brunch goes, the ambiance was perfect, especially with the live jazz band playing, and the way it reminded me of central park with the cute benches. The food was absolutely delicious. I normally am not able to finish an entire meal but , I pretty much licked my plate clean. The drinks were delicious as well, strong but not overpowering. My waitress Sophia was a doll; I do not often meet waitresses who always have a smile on their faces and are willing to assist with anything, but she was kind, patient and extremely sweet. I will definitely be returning!

We were back for Calamity
We were back for Calamity Chang's Room 69 Burlesque show, and it was a terrific one! Lots of great performers and a large crowd. I do wish the crowd were more appreciative, and though I've learned a few tricks after numerous visits it can be a challenge to get (and keep) a good view of the show when there are that many folks there. But we still had a good time, a good dinner and enjoyed an amazing show.

Excellent Saturday brunch!!!
Excellent Saturday brunch!!! Great venue for people of all ages. Loved the live music by Dandy Wellington. This is a place you must venture to.

A secluded spot in the city
Here is a great brunch spot. I took one of my friends here and we were completely amazed how our day turned out to be. 3 dollar Bloody Mary's as well as mimosas and bellinis and great food with a magnificent accompanying music, just don't miss it. You will enjoy.

The best food I ever ate.
Me and my friend went to eat here yeaterday. The truffle pizza was out of this world delicious. Aswell as the entrees I had the chixken paillard and my froend had the steak we really enjoyed it. The drinks were awesome and everything was reasonably priced. We will definitely be coming back soon!!!

Crowded Little Slice of Heaven
I had a 12:30 reservation that I was running late for, so I called and let them know I'd arrive at 12:45. They got me seated with no problem though they were beginning to fill up. The waiter was a tad slow to come over the first time, but the staff got us water while we waited and it seemed like everyone chipped in (even hostesses) if things got too slow. The strawberry lime rickey is to die for and so are the grilled cheese & pommes frites. My friends banana's foster waffle was a little over cooked but still tasty. $0.92 drinks and decently priced food, especially in NYC made this place a hit. I suggest getting a reservation that will have you out by 1:15-30ish however. After that things get crowded as seating is close. Still a great time!

Unfortunately we weren't able to sit on the roof because of the rain but the atmosphere in the downstairs bar made up for it. Beautiful fixtures and decor and great service.

Best Brunch Yet
From the beautiful 20s-era setting to the inventive dishes, friendly personnel (who couldn't apologize enough for any delays), live jazz, and cheap artisanal cocktails, this is my best brunch experience to date! I was there one-on-one, but the location accommodates groups well as well.
6/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
great for outdoor eating
Had the Maison burger. Super great. Worth a cheat day if you're on a diet. The cocktails seemed a little strange. (Egg whites in a drink?) But had a great meal for a friend's birthday.

Jazz & 90 cent cocktails @ Brunch
The portions were very small but delicious at brunch. The cocktails are all under half price during brunch and 2 of them are under 1 dollar! The music from the band was very loud, but the scene is beautiful. Very cute brunch.

The Good and the Bad
Good place for food, but really not a good place if you want to have a conversation.
For Sunday brunch, there was a live band/bass player near one corner of the room. My table was across the room from the musician, yet because of the music level, I had a really difficult time hearing anything my friend said.
Food was great. The maison burger and lobster roll were both delicious. Nice display of the dishes too. 92 cent cocktails were weak, but for Sunday brunch, it was a good deal!
Had a reservation for 1:30, slightly late and waited another 10 mins for a table to be cleaned. The roof could actually be closed if rain is incoming. The decorations were very pretty, with streetlamps and park benches as seats.
6/29/2013 4:00:00 PM
awesome sunday brunch
I had read about Hotel Chantelle as a great rooftop brunch place so decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is great, with live music and a clear roof so if it rains (as it looked like it would when we went) you're covered but still feel outside. The roof has a french bistro style feel, quaint. They do have cheap drinks and the food was great. Would definitely return!
6/29/2013 4:00:00 PM
We tried this place on a recommendation and we couldn't of been happier! We arrived 30 mins before our reservation and they sat us early without any issues. The host and wait staff was courteous and as first timers they were happy to explain the menu. Will definitely be back.

Great brunch place!
Food was great. Drinks were great. $0.92 cent drinks were great. Easy passage tastes like a white wine spritzer and is pretty strong. Loved it! Paid under $40 and was there for 3 hours. Jazz band was cool but very loud. Great spot!
7/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great place for brunch!
Although the portions are a bit small, you can't ask for better prices in cocktails! Great terrace to have brunch at in NYC!
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
love the new menu
they changed their brunch menu, they have great new stuff.
the drinks are still fabulous, especially the bloody mary, and they have a great sangria punch bowl. perfect drink for a hot summer afternoon on an open roof!

I came here to celebrate my 23rd birthday and the ambiance was perfect! I had 4 others join me and we sat comfortably. The live music, reasonably priced libations and view were perfect. Definitely an LES gem! I would recommend making a reservation in advance to ensure seating.

Servings should be a little larger, but drink specials are great.

perfect for couples
Although its noisy and you have to speak loud to the person across the table, it was still a great time. I went on a Sunday night and I guess it was reggae night so the music was awesome. My partner and I enjoyed the fish tacos and truffle mac n cheese, the steak was okay. Also, I wish there was a bigger dessert selection. It's a very nice cozy romantic feel to it and with more desserts it would be more enjoyable. Overall, we enjoyed our date and had a great time.

Beware the lobster roll
Overall, an excellent restaurant with a great selection of food and cocktails, and a very nice rooftop dining experience. Perhaps my only issue was the item I ordered: the lobster roll. The portion was tasty but not generous, and there were unfortunately a few small pieces of lobster shell in the sandwich and accompanying (delicious) salad. perhaps the most noteworthy thing was that a large, intact + hollowed out lobster carcass was served with the meal for decor. It was interesting but a little distracting. All said and done, a nice unique place that is a solid place to go for a nice date night!
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great for brunch
Love the live jazz and super cheap drinks ($0.92) but the noise level was a little too much for my taste. Overall I would recommend this place for others to explore as well :)

My go-to brunch spot
Have been to Hotel Chantelle about 5 times for brunch and it's great. I always bring out-of towners here because it has that very "New York" feel (in that you have to enter a shady storefront and climb two stories to get to the roof). But once you get to the roof, it's a little bit of Paris in the city. The tile floors, wooden benches, street lamps and flowers beds make it feel like a little oasis. The live jazz/swing bands are always great too. And you can't beat the 92 cent drinks! The menu is a bit small, but I always get my fill (great burger) and the ambiance more than makes up for it!

Room 69 burlesque never disappoints
We were in the street level bar for Room 69 burlesque, something we do at least twice each month. The staff were polite and welcoming, as usual, and helpful without being annoying. The show, of course, was terrific. If we lived in the city, we'd probably go at least 2 or 3 times per week.
8/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very lively ... Even a little loud. But a lovely rooftop scene, with very good food. I would def recommend for a brunch with friends.
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice feel with rooftop dinning!
wow, what a special feel with roof top dinning even though it is not that high, only 2nd floor, but the feeling with the open top restaurant is totally different!. It was so busy and full of customers, waitress was so busy running around. We ordered app, 2 entrees, portion not big, drink size average, overall was a little pricey, leaving me hungry after $120 for 2 people. the noise was so loud i felt bad for the apartment building nearby. But it was a new experience for us!

We ate here on a wednesday night. The food was outstanding and we were not rushed, we were at the table for two hours. We ordered some food them we decided we wanted more and was not rushed when ordering more.
The spring rolls and pizza were out if this world.

Room 69 burlesque with friends
We were back again for Calamity Chang's "Room 69" burlesque last night. We see the show quite often because Calamity always gets a great lineup of talent, and the food and drinks are excellent. The bar staff and wait staff were all attentive and helpful, and we enjoyed a light meal and drinks before the show began. Talk is cheap, of course. The most important statement of how much we enjoy Hotel Chantelle is the fact that we visit at least twice per month. It's our go-to destination on Friday nights.

Room 69 burlesque
The best recommendation we can give to Hotel Chantelle is that we make sure we're there at least twice per month. Our primary motivation is seeing Calamity Chang's Room 69 burlesque show, which always has a terrific lineup. However, even a great show wouldn't keep us enthralled were the service, food and drinks not top notch. And at hotel, they definitely are. Yes, there are lots of local hipsters in attendance, but they generally behave themselves even if they seldom tip well.
All in all, another great experience - great show and great service.

Terrible service, but worth it
Been here several times. The food is always pretty great especially the French toast and buttered eggs. But the service is always terrible. I've only been for brunch on Saturday and Sunday and they have 2 great jazz style bands that I've seen and it's so much fun. They create this cool atmosphere that's not too loud. If you prep yourself for slow, brutal service, you'll enjoy it!

My wife and I tried this restaurant for the first time. It's on Manhattan's Lower East side in a dramatically changed area. We went on a Sunday night and most of the tables were taken. We ate on a covered roof deck on a clear night. While at the bar, you can see the Williamsburg Bridge.
We had a terrific Kale Salad, A Truffled Pizza and we both had Fish Taco's as an entree. While eating, my wife said, "Wow.....they actually have a chef." The food was really great.
Warning....it's a little noisy and we were the oldest people in the restaurant (we are 52 years old), but, I like being with younger people. Try it....you'll like it.

Cool outdoor dining place!
Fine creative food. The open air setting is a treat. I will go back.

Nice place for drinks. Get the flat bread pizza delicious.

I had the most wonderful experience at Hotel Chantelle. What a hidden gem. The food was great, wine was generously poured, and the rooftop dining truly breathtaking. I can't wait to return!

Great atmosphere with jazz music playing during scrumptious meal

Have been here several times. We rented the top floor last June for a party. Great food. Efficient and friendly staff. Try it!!!

Fun & Energetic Venue
Great view of the Williamsburg Bridge. The food was good and the choices were very interesting and varied. However, the service was slow and waitstaff was not very attentive. We would have definitely had more to drink if they'd only come by more often! We had to ask three different servers for horseradish for our oysters. Great bar scene and definitely a great place for a loud, lively crowd who's just there for drinks and appetizers.

This is a perfect find in
This is a perfect find in the lower east side! Great rooftop bar plus live jazz. Service was wonderful too along with the food.
Such unique food items like captain crunch French toast, which was some of the best that I've had. The icing on the cake was the 92 cent drinks. Those were delicious as well. This place is a rare find!

Room 69 Burlesque
My wife and I regularly visit Hotel Chantelle on Friday nights for Calamity Chang's "Room 69" burlesque show. Though it's a free show, she always gets an excellent lineup of performers, and this past Friday was no exception. Once again, nothing but excellent service, food and drinks from the staff. This time, however, we had a chance to see their security team work. Unfortunately, there was a man who had too much to drink, and he could barely stand. He approached one of the performers and nearly fell onto her. I made sure to alert a staff member, but she was way ahead of me and had already alerted security. They waited until the current performer had finished her routine, then discreetly escorted him out. Exemplary food, drink and staff!

Fun brunch with friends
I brought some friends here for brunch and we had a great time. They have live jazz music, and though it was a bit too loud, it was great. We liked the food but it could have been a little better (truffle tater tots... but no dipping sauce..?!) The weather was great and they had the retractable glass ceiling open so it felt like we were outside. Also- cheap drinks during brunch!

First brunch in NYC
We are not from NYC so we booked our first planned meal in NYC online. Hotel Chantelle did not disappoint - it was fun and energetic (and a little loud). The food was good, band and service were great and cocktails were potent! Very envious of the large groups enjoying big bowls of punch. Would definitely recommend Hotel Chantelle for large or smaller groups looking enjoy an afternoon out on the LES.

Bought a voucher for 4 drinks, 2 appetizers…$39 for almost $90 value. Went there on a Sunday night..very quiet and dark. Server was top notch, excellent drink and apps recommendations. Extremely satisfied with our evening there. Curiously however, "doorman" requested ID's for dinner guests, bartender would not serve us at bar with vouchers, even though hostess stated it was fine. Oh well, it's his tip. Would definitely go again in better weather for open roof bar searing.
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Perfect, just perfect.
My review is for dinner. Everything came in at a reasonable wait time even though there were many customers dining that evening. We always had the hostess come to check on us and made sure we had a wonderful dining experience. The food is amazing! The only downside is there are no desserts there, but the cocktails made up for it.
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
First time at Hotel Chantelle and I will be back! Terrific service, great food and 92 cent cocktails - yes please! Beautiful rooftop room. We had a ball, highly recommend!

Delicious food and great service.
We had a wonderful dining experience. Restaurant was in a trendy area. The food was superb and the two appetizers including rock shrimp tempura and the duck pizza was to die for. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable service staff made for a great weekending meal.

Beautiful space, delicious food, great service, and live jazz band! $6 pitchers of delectable drinks, $ 3 mimosas and bloodys! Awesome place to eat and catch up with friends! Truffle tatertots are sinfully delicious!

the Live Jazz Brunch is a NYC must! the band was absolutely spectacular, the cocktails were on point and the lobster benedict, was, well... it was everything.
