The food seemed better than ever. The execution and the presentation was terrific, especially the octopus appetizer and the striped bass.

Little Fish has become our go to place for special occasions. The Sunday 5 course price fixe tasting is always outstanding and we were not disappointed on Sunday August 4 when we celebrated our wedding anniversary.

Having just moved back to Philadelphia, my wife and I were eager to give Little Fish, one of our favorite restaurants, a visit. It's still very good, though I think the style has changed a bit. My recollection is that in the past, the fish was really the focus, and the food on the sides of the main dish being simpler and not taking away from the fish. That seems to have changed, with the fish being down-played a bit. That's too bad if so, though it's all still very good. The service was fine- no complaints- though sometimes the server seemed a bit sleepy. It's a small place, so easy for one noisy party to make it a bit loud, as happened when we were there, but still, a very nice time and good food. recommended.

One of the best meals I've ever had
Everything was incredible from start to finish. The menu is perfectly small -- only 4 first courses, 4 entrees and 2 types of fresh oysters. One cannot go wrong with any item. My GF and I enjoyed a Blue Crab appetizer, served in a miso-type broth with toasted sesame, ramen, seaweed and cherry tomatoes. She ordered the Ono (Hawaiian white fish) entree and I ordered the Striped Bass which was cooked perfectly and came with clams, sausage, chopped fennel and some pasta in a really nice broth. It was somewhat of a celebration so we brought 2 bottles of wine. As they are a BYOB, I would recommend bringing wines that can stand up to the bold and layered flavors of their plates. Excellent service and intimate atmosphere as well.

Lives Up to Its HIgh Reputation
No disappointment at this high-end, fish-centric eatery. Everything was perfect!

Amazing food - a bit noisy
Great food - had the yellowtail appetizer and tile fish. Both were great, I especially recommend the yellowtail. Great service - not slow at all. Only complaint was it was a bit noisy in the small space.

We are not easy
My wife is a great cook, to the extent that we tend not to go out for dinner because we are too frequently disappointed. No disappointment here. The food is creative and delicious, some of the best we have had anywhere. We always know it was a good meal when we ask for more bread so as not to leave anything on the plate.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
It's all about the food
This place is small and plain. You don't go here for the ambience. You go for the food. And Little Fish delivers! Everything we had was simply delicious. It is a very small menu so we were able to sample from most of it, and there was not a single dish that disappointed.

This is a spectacular restaurant
This is a spectacular restaurant that is understated and without fuss. Everything is perfectly fresh, perfectly prepared, but in a friendly manner that invites one to relax and enjoy.

The Sunday tasting is phenomenal (and only $33 each!). Every time we go, we're excited to see what's next after every course. This week was no different. Delicate salad with homemade mozzarella, followed by the best octopus (charred and served with a corn broth) I've ever had. Next up, the crudo was amazing - picture a double order of sashimi - followed by a delicious ono served with Swiss chard and fresh beans. Finally, the olive oil cake with marscapone was the perfect ending! We left full, happy, and planning our next trip! The staff is friendly, attentive, and shows how much they love the food. This continues to be one of the best restaurants in the city....

One of my prefered restaurant in Ph
Little Fish is one of my favorite in the city. Food is always good, restaurant is small and intimate, and they always have foie gras on the menu, one way or another :-) I recommend for a date or a small group of friends who want to enjoy good food and conversation.
The only negative last time was the outdoor seating. We ended up getting back inside due to a ferocious mosquitoes attack ... Not much you can do!

A neighborhood gem in the heart of Queen Village, Little Fish does not disappoint. The freshness of the fish and originality of preparation are unparalleled. The service is attentive and friendly. As a BYO, Little Fish rates at the top. The feel, the level of service, the quality of the food combine to make the diner think he is eating in a fine restaurant, complete with bar service. We shall definitely return to Little Fish!

After years of visiting various byob restaurants for which Philadelphia is known, I realized I'd never been to Little Fish. SOS when it was my turn to host a monthly dinner club, off we went. Good choice! The fish was perfectly cooked and totally yummy. Really great flavors (I had the tile fish). I found myself wanting a loaf of bread to sop up the juices from the tile fish combined with tomato, squash and a few cavatelli. Really wonderful. The chocolate peanut butter cake for dessert rocked too!

Artistry on a plate
Would never have believed the ingredients put together could be so fabulous.
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
The tuna dish I had here was the best I have ever eaten and that's saying a lot! Really everything we ate here was delicious and perfectly prepared and service was great. Really nothing to complain about. I eat out often and am quick to write a place off it doesn't meet a certain level of quality. This place has definitely made it on my list. Appetizers cost about $10-$15 and entrees cost $35, but the food is worth every penny. Oh and it's BYOB!
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Amazing fish, go here often
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Philly. I go here often with my partner. It's terrifically prepared fresh fish, though a little pricey. BYOB makes up for it. Great staff. Sunday prix fixe is much fun. Highly recommend!

Minimal Menu. Maximal execution
Don't be put off by the limited menu. Every dish is superbly made to create a symphony of flavors and a delightful presentation

Expert service, romantic (if noisy) unpretentious ambiance, and food that definitely has class, freshness, and imagination. I hope for slightly more vibrant/memorable flavor combinations on subsequent visits, based on what I've read. Could have been due to the rather overpowering white Burgundy we brought (that the staff looked after very well). I'll be taking Chablis or a Sauvignon Blanc or Verdicchio next time. Recommended for intimate dates and small groups of close friends who want to splurge a bit.

Best fish I've had in years
Little Fish serves fantastic fish. It's that simple. The Monkfish is the best fish I've had in years, since a trip to Felidia in New York. The flavors in the broth were superb, and the fish was cooked perfectly. Nice and meaty, not dry at all. The scallop appetizer ranks among the best scallops I've had, as well. I did find the restaurant to be painfully noisy at times, though, and a bit slow. It could also use the work of an interior designer, no doubt. But if you are just looking for good fish, this is the place.

Excellant small seafood restaurant.
Excellant small seafood restaurant. Perfect for those who want a small, cozy place and intimate conversation. Definitely popular with 'foodies' and for good reason.
My wife and two adult daughters were anxious going here as they were uncertain about the menu. However, the restaurant accomodated their requests, to avoid red meat and cook the fish thru, admirably. And, even cooked through, their fish was exquisite and wonderful. All of us had a great time.

Best Fish in Town
Little Fish never disappoints. Love that they only specialize in fish. Their dishes are perfection. Really love this place.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Fresh, creatively prepared food at a very reasonable price. We went fof the Sunday tasting menu. What a bargain and what a wonderful experience! Each course was unique and delicious. Service was great, save for one somewhat disinterested waiter. Girls were great though. Loved the music too. Fun but not obtrusive. Small room, but it created s nice intimate vibe. The only, very minor complaint (too strong a word really) is that with the set dining hours, and all the meals being plated and served at once, invariably a few items could have been hotter. But this hardly marred an overall wonderful experience. Would go back for sure!

Little Fish keeps getting
Little Fish keeps getting better and better. The diversity of the menu and extraordinary preparation are truly outstanding. One of the very best in Philadelphia!
10/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
The only reason I only gave it 3 stars for ambiance is because it was a Wednesday and we were the only table. We almost felt like the cooks were watching us the whole time. Otherwise, although expensive, the food was fantastic, the service was perfect. We will definitely be back (for special occasions).
10/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Creative and outstanding
An incredible imagination with the combinations of ingredients. All of it worked so well together. It was our first time at Little Fish and I can certainly say it won't be the last. Chad and his staff have put together something very special in Philadelphia. It was a Wonderful evening.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
I've been to Little Fish twice and twice they have wowed me. Their octopus dish was one of the best things I have ever tasted. If I could afford to, I would eat at Little Fish every week.
10/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great evening at Little Fish
Perfectly sized oysters on the half shell, one west coast selection and one east coast, each prepared differently. A great way to start.
The winner of the evening were the seared scallops, prepared perfectly.
The himachi, in a butternut squash broth, was delicate and excellent. Striped bass and swordfish offerings were also perfectly cooked.
A delicious evening that left us feeling wonderful.
Tiny place, so reservations are a must
Thanks you, Little Fish!
10/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very nice little neighborhood BYOB. Our party of four tried everything on the menu. Easy to do since there is a limited menu. Helps keep the fish fresh and the offerings varied. The scallop starter was our favorite. Expensive but worth it!
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Octopus is outstanding, extremely
Octopus is outstanding, extremely tender. First time I ever tried raw oysters, a wonderful experience - loved the east coast ones from Mass. Steelhead trout was very good and it was with veal - not sure I understood the combo but the veal was so mouth-watering tender I just loved it.
Service was very good. I could come there every week if I could.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was unique and delicious. The scallops and the monkfish were out of this world for flavor.

Considering quality and price,
Considering quality and price, I'm always amazed that we can get a table at Little Fish. Is it possible that there aren't as many shell and fin fish lovers as we think there are? The preparation of the dishes is so skillful and the service so attentive, the price so reasonable that they leave nothing to be desired.

Always Love It
My husband and I have eaten here several times and this past weekend we brought my parents. We have only ever gotten the tasting menu on Sunday nights. It was amazing. The food was excellent. Couldn't have been more pleased.

Little Fish True to its Name
Little Fish is a fantastic restaurant tucked off the beaten path. An ever-changing menu ensures there is always something new and SUPER fresh to try. The cozy dining room is small enough to give you the feel of eating in a friend's kitchen, but large enough to accomodate parties of 6. It's a dining pleasure that's not to be missed.
10/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food is great, but can get LOUD!
We think the food at Little Fish is outstanding, but our evning was disrupted by a very loud group of four who created such a level of noice in the entire restaurant that we ended up with headaches. Anything that could be done to reduce the noise level at this restaurant would be an improvement.

Sunday tasting menu
My husband and I took my parents to little fish for the sunday tasting menu. The food was awesome- every corse was better than the one before. Dessert was just ok, but that could be my tastes. The service was just ok as well. They were very friendly, but the male waiter spoke low (in a loud little restaurant) and was a bit difficult to understand. I wouldn't hesitate to go again or refer someone else. Actually I already have.

Liitle Fish - Pricey
Nice variety of menu ( predominately fish ) for their 1st and 2nd course picks with an asian flare. The entree's are a bit pricey with most in the $30 range. I expected to pay these prices at a restaurant with a full bar and not a small neighborhood BYOB.
However overall a nice dining experience.

Can't say enough good things.
The best food I have had in along time. Excellent, warm, service. Charmng low-key atmosphere.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Four of us made a random decision to try the Sunday tasting menu... Best decision ever!!! Every course was amazing and unique. None of us are generally seafood lovers and we all loved every bite. Service was also great, and they went out of their way to make accommodations for a member of our party sensitive to gluten. The value of the tasting menu is fantastic, I would recommend this to anyone in a heartbeat!

Little Fish - Big Catch
Tiny neighborhood gem. Has been in existence for more than 15 years while consistently producing outstanding seafood cuisine while resisting the all-too-frequent temptation to enlarge/expand, resulting in mediocre offerings. If you want flash and bling, go elsewhere. If you seek a quiet adventure that delivers relaxed dining and superb flavors, this should definitely be on. Your agenda .

Arrived late, which, on a Tuesday was not a problem. Parking in the neighborhood can be a challenge. Welcomed, seated, review of menu and ordering easy and fun. Wine served, bread OK, dinner spectacular. Wonderful presentation. Sauces were special. Did not have dessert.

Little Fish is a consistent performer with excellent food and service. Just go. You'll eat fish prepared like nowhere else in the city.

I live in DC and everytime I go to Philadelphia I make it a point to dine here. Some of the best seafood I've tried anywhere. Super fresh and inventive. Great layering of flavors. Small menu that is always interesting.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Our first dinner at Little Fish will certainly not be our last! We arrived about 10 minutes early for the 8 PM chefs tasting. The restaurant was almost empty and we thought maybe we'd made a mistake. Within minutes the tiny place was packed and the chef and his assistants were plating the first of 5 yummy dishes. Unusual pairings of very fresh ingredients. (our meal included scallops, oysters, yellowtail, octopus and sea bass.) If you love seafood, this is a must try! My only small criticism was the presentation of the rice pudding. A little messy looking, but delicious. We have already made a reservation to return later this month!

Great little resto with two inventive cooks. Specially advised to go by on a sunday night for their 5 course special which is always a surprise! Given the oportunity this is my go to place for sunday evenings with friends in a relaxed atmosphere. And to top it all is BYOB!

The food was incredible... there are meals that are delicious and then there are meals that you savor every bite... and this was one of those meals. We ended up ordering another First course just to try another option. The crab Appetizer was one of the best things I have ever experienced.
