Once again we were not disappointe.
Les and the team at the Norseman continue to provide a great dining experience in Muskoka. Worth the trip from Dorset , Baysville, Dwight, Bracebridge or Huntsville, you will not be disappointed.
If you have not tried the Norseman, you owe it to yourself to do so.

Don't let the exterior scare you
This restaurant is part of a small cottage community and is housed in an 1867 house that could stand some work outside. Don't let this scare you as the restaurant has been listed in where to eat in Canada and once inside the food is fantastic and the wine list extensive. The lobster ravioli starter was some of the best we have ever had. Venison can be quite dry but my entre was done to perfection with a nice sauce. My partner's salmon was superbly cooked and wrapped in a phyllo pastry which was very light. The entrees included rice with the salmon, roast potatoes with the meat and superbly cooked mixed vegetables with both. The German chocolate cake dessert was outstanding. Service by the owner was excellent and the wine choices very good

Came back for Schnitzel
Went to the norsemen for the second time in a week. This time it was for Friday night Schnitzel Night. Best Jager Schnitzel we have had in a long time including the one we had in our recent trip to Vienna. Quite well prepared with accompanying house potatoes and mixed vegetables done to perfection. Price was right at $16.00. As before service was excellent and wine list extensive. Started(again) with the Lobster ravioli which just as good as the previous time. Would have eaten on the screened in porch but it started to rain so went inside. Can't say enough good things about this eclectic restaurant in a peaceful location

This is a great place for
This is a great place for special occasions when in cottage country. The tables are well spaced and chairs comfty and decor is soothing. The exterior may be a tad off-puting for the hyper critical. It is an older building and it is holding up very well as such. The menu is not overly long but there are excellent choices for every palate. The food is good ,salads very fresh , and the preparation is done by a kitchen that cares what leaves their hidden kingdom,
We have been dining here at least twice a summer for a number of years and have never been disappointed.

My wife and I recently dined at the Norsemen restaurant outside Huntsville, Ontario, in celebration of our wedding anniversary. The menu was well presented, service - very good, recommended New Zealand wine at excellent price. Lovely dessert and ambiance.

Dinner in Heaven
We have been to The Norseman a few times, and neve been disappointed. Attentive staff, beautiful location and excellent food all make this one of our favourite places to eat in the Huntsville area.

lovely forest location, great food
service was very accommodating. although it was cool outside, there was no problem for the wait staff to come outside for us. Staff from the restaurant talked to us about the history of the old buildings and area, without giving you the feeling they were being taken away from more important tasks. Food was fresh and well-prepared. View over the lake was beautiful for a late summer dinner. At no time did we feel rushed.

The Norseman was a lovely spot to take a friend to celebrate a milestone in his life. It is a memory- maker restaraunt; with the quiet atmosphere, deer sightings through the window, warm fire and service and excellent food. It is definitely a secluded gem to return to in creating special memories.

We had a great evening in this quiet spot on the water just outside of Huntsville. The lodge is 'Old Muskoka' as is the setting, the service was very good; friendly, warm, and efficient. The food was outstanding. This very competent and creative chef presents a small but comprehensive menu of standards with a twist, expertly rendered.

Thanksgiving @ The Norseman
We were staying nearby and the location was ideal. Nice warm and comfortable athmosphere. We both had the Thanksgiving Special although there were good options on the A La Carte. Food was very good, cooked well and presented well. Staff were friendly and attentive although the restaurant was only half full as we dined early. Would recommend the Norseman for a nice evening out for anyone staying in the Huntsville area.

Always a winner
This was our third time dining at the Norsemen and we have never been disappointed. The exterior still has not been painted but the food and service both continue to be excellent. My wife opted for the onion soup and phyllo crusted salmon. The soup was very tasty and served at just the right temperature and the crust on the salmon was very thin with lots of salmon inside. A lot of places give you all crust and little salmon. My pumpkin soup was just the right consistency and temperature and the bison steak was very tender. The blueberry sauce on the bison was an interesting touch and while it might sound unusual was a very good combination. The bread pudding dessert was to die for. As usual service was attentive but not overbearing.
