Fusion Food at it's best!
Great food!! I hope they keep the angry fish on the menu! It was a burlap entrée, but it is amazing!!
Desserts are to die for!! Loved the crazy experience to have food flavors exploding in your mouth!
Great food and fun place!

There is a great deal of good
There is a great deal of good and exciting energy as you walk into Searsucker. I was immediately impressed with the stylish, imaginative and contemporary interiors. Our table was ready (bravo!) and Amber who took care of us is an absolute gem. Her professionalism, care and discreet service was so appreciated and enjoyed. My loin filet was perfectly done and the jalapeno-chorizo "corn off the cobb" was beyond yummy! It was generally a superb evening filled with happy-looking staff and relaxed patrons. We will be back to this neighborhood oasis of fabulous food and superb style!

Really wanted to try burlap for our anniversary. Was disappointed to hear it closed. But stayed with the Marlarkey restaurant. Shared the Tomahawk ribeye steak. We enjoyed it and the setting. Real good..but not outstanding. The bar scene was hopping. If we lived closer we would go again. Not sure if we would travel just to eat here again.

girlfriend bday bash
Small bites were awesome! Had a great time with the gals.

Went for a birthday dinner and the food lived up to the hype. The Brussel Sprouts were the best I've ever had. Short rib appetizer was amazing and the hangar steak with chimichurri was delicious.

My blackened sandwich and fries were fantastic. I ended with a delicious banana cake for dessert. I can't wait to go back!

Good food & creative drinks
Searsucker is upscale but comfortable. The food is creative and solid - Cheddar Puffs (brought as a complimentary starter), Grits with Bacon and Cheese, and Hanger Steak were all really good. Drinks are creative and cool - Had the Honeybadger - a spin on a Gold Rush, that was solid.
The staff was cool, friendly, and customer focused.
It's got a mixed crowd - some relaxed, some out to be seen, which is what you'd expect for a new cool restaurant in that location.
The only negative is that it can get pretty loud.
Definitely worth a try! We'll be back

Best brussel sprouts ever!
Great experience as a whole, beautiful restaurant, amazing drinks, and delicious food. Everything we tried was phenomenal, especially the filet with lobster butter and those freaken brussel sprouts, yum!! The pig brownie thing was also devine! Try it.

Celebrated wedding anniversary.
Celebrated wedding anniversary. We were greeted with congratulations by the hostess, our server and a gentleman we assumed to be the manager/supervisor. We were given two glasses of champagne and an appetizer. All very wonderful. The only part of the evening that was not in keeping with the surprises was that although they sat us at a quaint table for two our very was of the corner of Del Mar heights Road and El Camino Real.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food and service were excellent. The crab cake was exceptional, ahi as well. The table was a little small but everything else was very good. We would definitely recommend Searsucker.

My boyfriend and I went there for the first time last week and absolutely loved it. The ambiance was great, the specialty cocktails were tasty, but above all.... the food was amazing!! A great place to go and enjoy the next time you want a special night out :)

Awesome food and ambience
Food was incredible. Great ingredients and plating was great. Portions were perfect.
However, the server brought out 2 of the 3 entree's and said she would bring the 3rd out once the hashbrowns were ready. 20 mins later we had to flag down the waitress who took our order to ask where our third order was, as well as the missing hashbrown.
That would have left a bad taste in my mouth had the waitress not then taken the third plate off our bill.
Color me impressed. Not sure if that's what protocol was, but it's how other institutions should recompense their clients.
And with that last icing on top, Searsucker now has themselves a repeat customer.
Oh. Get a reservation on Open Table or you'll be sorry.
I had eggs benedict with kalua pork!

Simple the best
One of the best places to go. Food was amazing and our waiter was above average. Only drawback was there was long waits between check in times between waiter and client. Would have been better if he checked in with every 10/15 instead of every 20/25. Waiter did make up with his attitude and charm. Overall still best in class.90 for school.

A more consistent voice
What was Burlap is now Searsucker. Same owners, but a more consistent theme. It was hard to figure out when to eat at Burlap - the cowboy Asian thing was not working.
Nice wine list, good food, friendly and helpful service. I had the blackened Ahi - could have been a little more blackened, but OK. My wife had the Salmon and thought it was very good. We started with some oysters - which were OK but a little too raw (um, rinsing is not cooking, you can rinse). All in all, a nice dinner and the patio with the coy pond was relaxing.
One hint though, kids will fall into the pond no matter how hard you try to avoid it. Don't sit families with young children outside. At $150 for two I really don't want to listen to the shrieking.

Great Sunday Brunch
Fabulous food, great music, and wonderful service. Not the norm to feel so welcomed at a great foodie spot like this when the kiddos are tagging along. Kudos to the staff for such an enjoyable experience. We will back next week!

This was the location of the Burlap restaurant until a few months ago. This current implementation is a big improvement. It is, however, still way too expensive for our tastes.

Great food, just way too loud!
Great food, just way too loud! The main dining area was so
Loud we could barely speak to each other .
I would dine there again but only outside or in the glass enclosed

Searsucker had phenomenal food and provided a warm romantic ambiance. Their meat was so rich and flavorful yet at the same time extremely tender and ready to be eaten right up. I definitely recommend this restaurant to any fish or meat lover out there.

We had a very nice evening
We had a very nice evening there, I did feel they were a bit pricey however. Therefore I wouldn't return often. but did enjoy everything!
9/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
The menu of the restaurant week is good and the food is good.

Delicious, But Very Rich
The food is spectacular...........and everything is unique. However, there was no way to even attempt to stick to a diet unless you like raw oysters on the half shell. Most of the foods are all sauced up and very rich. As much as I wanted this to be my "go to" place in the neighborhood, I don't think I would go there more than once a year for a special occasion. Wish they would add a couple "spa cuisine" entrees to the menu.

We enjoyed a Restaurant Week lunch.
The meal and the service were great!
We will return.

Great place! We loved our
Great place! We loved our Restaurant week lunch. Staff was very accommodating and service very good. We would definitely go back. Parking, however, was hideous. Don't know what they can do about that, but we went on a Friday around 12:30 and had a very difficult time trying to park.

It was DEAD on a Monday, but can see that place really doing well. Food was great. Cocktails were just ok. Tried too hard in that department.

Was a fan of Burlap previously...total revamp of both menu and decor for Searsucker.
Same energetic vibe. Same outstanding service.
Menu has changed, yet is still interesting and full of flavor!
Burlap had turned me on to Brussel Sprouts, and luckily Searsucker still has a similar offering. The sprouts and the corn...I could make a meal of those alone. Party of 2, we split 2 entrees. The scallops were seared perfectly, yet the sauce was a bit too sweet. The filet was perfection. Appi's - the mushrooms & burratta...OMG.
Tuesday nights are 1/2 price on select bottle of wine.
Atmosphere can be a bit loud, yet they do offer an enclosed quieter area.
I will be a regular!

We had eaten at burlap before, the former site for Seersucker. This experience was so much better. The food was really excellent and inventive. The service cold not have been better. The drinks creative and good! We ate on the glass enclosed patio sine the interior is really super noisy. This was a good option and I wold recommend dining there as well.

Had my wife's birthday here
Had my wife's birthday here and the services was excellent. They had 1 misshap with the order bu more then made up for it.

Love this place! There infusions are great and I was even able to bring my baby to enjoy a nice night out with my husband!
It's our new favorite restaurant. Everything is amazing & the service is top knotch!
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food and atmosphere.
Great food and atmosphere. More like herringbone in atmosphere as opposed to the loud cluster that is searsucker in the gaslamp.
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food and service, but loud.
Four of us went for dinner for my husband's birthday. We all enjoyed our the food. I loved everything I ate which consisted of the strawberry, goat cheese, and walnut salad, the King Crab Mac, a taste of the lobster and potato dumplings, and a taste of the New York "Classic" steak. We shared the Grasshopper Sundae for dessert, which was amazing. The mint ice cream wasn't super sweet and was made with fresh mint.
Our waitress was friendly, informative, and attentive. It was loud which we did not enjoy, since it made it harder to talk to each other. Next time, we'll ask for a table on the patio, away from the bar.

Great food and décor. Lot's of room in the center of the restaurant. Energetic and comfortable outside bar.

First time at the new Burlap
We loved Burlap, but we also love Searsucker downtown, so when we were looking at a place close to our house with family from North County, we decided on Searsucker. Unlike Burlap, Searsucker is quite child-friendly (they even had a children's menu, unlike Burlap who used to say "trust us, the chef will make you something". The waitress even gave the little ones fish food to feed the Koi fish outside. Delicious food and cocktails, great service. Thanks!

Wife and I celibrated our 29th here
Love the place enough for the wife and I to celibrate our 29th wedding anniversary here. Had great time, everything was great, food, wine, desert, service. We have a lot of good choices in our area so us choosing Searsucker for this special occasion makes Searsucker special.
11/2/2013 5:00:00 PM
Food was above average with eclectic combinations and very fresh ingredients. Where the restaurant really shines is its service. Sometimes when they run out of something at brunch they always make up for it, such as by giving you free mimosas. Always good recommendations by the servers who know the menu and provide great service overall.

I love coming here both with my family/older kids, as well as with my girls for HH.
Service is good, and consistent, which to me is the most important.
I love the food. A smaller menu, but very delicious and amazing.
We come here frequently on the weekends for brunch, the bottomless mimosas are the best.
Our last visit we had such amazing service once again, this time from Jerome.
Thanks Brian Malarkey and team, I am a great fan of all of your establishments!
