The very large list of martinis
The very large list of martinis and the fresh oysters are the lure as the name suggests but the mussels appetizer we had was excellent. It was the best mussels dish I've had in some time, incorporating and excellent sauce and pancetta in addition to toast crisps to enjoy all of the above.
The service was enthusiastic and helpful and the ambiance was tasteful country inn, marked down just a bit because the rooms are small and therefor a bit cluttered.
Definitely recommend for lunch, cocktail hour or dinner if you want to get out of the town of Sonoma to mix things up.

Late dinner on a Sunday. Restaurant was moderately busy and the service was attentive.
Items off menu:
Beet and Pear Salad (pretty good)
Pumpkin Ravioli (very good)
Wine Country Cioppino (a different take on it, but still very good)
House Made Buttered Popcorn Ice Cream (really, really good)
Overall a nice place with very good food.

This was our third or fourth
This was our third or fourth time dining there over a period of about 10 years and has never disappointed! We attended a rehearsal dinner for about 20-25 people a couple of years ago and the food was as outstanding and beautifully presented as it is for a single table!

We have eaten many times at the Glen Ellen Inn Restaurant, and they seem to always impress me. The food is so beautiful you almost don't want to eat it! It's one of those special places off the beaten path that not everyone knows about... The wine list is crazy extensive, they offer specialty cocktails, creative wine country cuisine, and mind blowing desserts.

Consistently good! Great wine.
Variety of menu items ever though a very small restaurant. Very nice atmosphere especially at night.

WOW! This was a huge surprise.
WOW! This was a huge surprise. We were expecting a simple little grill in the wine country and did not expect to eat one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Masterfully presented and prepared. The tastes were amazing. Worthy of being one of the best in Sonoma, if not the entire country - a true gem.

Our group had a fabulous lunch
Our group had a fabulous lunch overall. We ate lightly so we could enjoy the fantastic desserts. The vanilla ice cream with coconut and caramel was to die for. Probably the best dessert I've ever had. It was served with a corkscrew of spun sugar--a lovely presentation. Service was wonderful, the room was charming--all in all just a lovely place.
The only thing I found a little lacking was the poached pear, which was nicely spiced but harder than I expected.

after reading wonderful reviews
after reading wonderful reviews on Yelp, I brought in a group of 12 people. Although this place is not on the "best places to eat," it SHOULD be.
excellent choice of food, Great flavor (steak was too greasy, though). Good Service.
only reason it didn't get full stars, the server "accidentally" charged us an extra $100 tip even though the receipt said 18% (almost 40%). Ya, an extra $100 was placed. I find that hard to believe, esp when the charge was not questioned and the $100 cash was immediately placed into our hands.
LUckily, we know our math and the price placed (by them) was NOT 18% of our total.
overall, Great place to eat (just watch the bill).

Great food and reasonably priced!
We love the Glen Ellen Inn! We've been eating there for many years. This time it was for three birthdays in the family. Ate at 4:00 pm from the lunch menu. Had the French Onion Bacon Burger with garlic fries - loved it!

We love the mussels and the cioppino here. They also have a nice library of older wines that are reasonably priced.

More than expected
Got there very early for our reservation, was going to have a drink at the bar in the meantime.........got the impression they did not want us sitting at the small but very nice bar.......they sat us at our table instead. But everything from there was fantastic. The waiter, an older Polish gentlemen was incredible, the food presentation and quality was great. The ambience and the prices were great as well. Can't wait to go back.
5/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was great, my friend and husband had the New York that was on special and our other friend had the cioppino which he was raving it was awesome! I had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. The service was wonderful. Our waiter was so attentive and entertaining that we wanted to take him home with us. The place is quaint an you can eat inside or out. We sat in a booth inside because it was a little cold out but either would be nice. I would definitely reccomend everyone to go there. Their desserts were so pretty I had to take pictures of them. They tastes as amazing as they looked!
5/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
We line in a neighboring town and have tried all the restaurants there. This was a big yummy surprise will return.

Wine Country Gem
Recommended by a friend. Had a great dining experience. Food was exceptional and desserts were spot on. It was a little cool dining outside on a spring evening, but, otherwise, the evening was a true success.
5/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Better than some "name" places!
Not perfect, but very pleasant on the outdoor covered patio. Soup was good, fried oysters with Tabasco butter were excellent. Ginger calamari was OUTSTANDING - come here just to try this, it's a brilliant dish! Burger was good, bacon didn't work (too thick & chewy/tough), bun a little thick. Salad Nicoise fell on the sour side, out of balance and borderline unpleasant. Cappuccinos were excellent. Service was pleasant and cheerful, but the place wasn't crowded. We spent a week eating up and down Sonoma/Mendocino, and Glen Ellen was one of our better meals. With a little more care, they would easily compete with Willi's, Girl & Fig, Bistro 29, and others.
5/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
martinis wine and great food
tons of intriguing and fun cocktails, HUGE wine list with some real cool gems and variance from typical wine country lists, and solid, tasty food. service has been good both times we've dined here. we will continue to visit when in the sonoma area.
5/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
A great neighborhood spot for a good meal. Our table was ready for us - food was good with nice presentation.
5/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Love the ambiance. Love the oysters. Love the grass fed, perfectly cooked beef. Love the salads. The fresh baked scones are TDF.
5/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
I love this restaurant. The food is good and sitting outside is so pleasant.

Just as good as I remembered from a vacation five years ago... Wonderful lamb shank and calamari.

Creative and delicious
This restaurant is easy to miss, but is worth finding it (note, park on Warm Springs Road, parking lot on the back side and enter via the stairs. Excellent service, very prompt service. Nice spacing between tables so it's not cramped. The outside patio is lovely too and private; great for a party on a nice day! Worth going a little out of the way for in the little town of Glen Ellen, between Santa Rosa and Sonoma.

Glen Ellen Inn is a special find
We loved the oyster bar offerings and the 98 page wine list offering! The food was tasty and all the flavors were marvelous. The seating was in a traffic pattern, so we felt like we were being ogled as everyone walked past and the air conditioning was erractic, sometimes too hot then too cool. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the location, next time we will try to be seated outside and see if that improves the evening. They were so nice to even send out their signature dessert compliments of the chef after we decline to order dessert, so we were pleasantly surprised and it was especially yummy, despite being full with appetizers and dinner. Nice touch.

Another Great Date Night
My wife and I have been coming here from the Sacramento area for several years, and we have always enjoyed our 'Date Nights'. The Martini / Oyster Bar is a real treat, the food in the Grill is consistently outstanding, and the service is friendly and efficient. We stay in one of their cottages, which are charming and comfortable, so it's just a quick walk back to our room after dinner!
6/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a wonderful dinner, the oysters and steak was amazing. The view outside was lovely. Great wine and martinis!
6/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was the second time I'd been to Glen Ellen Oyster Bar & Grill and it was just as delicious and enjoyable as the first time. The first was a special date night with my husband, the second was a girls night out with 5 other women. Everyone loved their food, the service is casual yet efficient, and the outdoor space is lovely. Their martinis are fantastic, they come in a big glass and are strong - you definitely know you're getting your money's worth. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a date night or fun group dinner. We're planning to go back for our 5 year wedding anniversary in August. Oh and their guest cottages are also really nice.

Loved this spot!!
A definite for anyone visiting Glen Ellen or Sonoma county. Great food.....great service and a great experience.

Service was ok, not as attentive
Service was ok, not as attentive as one would like but they eventually show up. Food had great flavor. The sea bass dish was delicious despite the sea bass being extremely over cooked. Didn't send it back as the waitress did not come back by until we were finished. Our table was used to prop their back gate open and was in an area of constant traffic. Food was delicious, drinks were very good, service was sub par but ok. I recommend the restaurant but they could definitely improve in a number of areas.

Big Group - Everyone Happy!
There were 12 of us, and everyone seemed happy with their choices. The most popular at our table were the mussels and garlic fries and the grilled prawns. There were plenty of compliments on both. I had the blackened Alaskan halibut special - grilled perfectly without being overcooked. It was nice and tender. There are several ice cream desserts, but I had the truffles. So good! Yum!
The wine was reasonable and the long martini list was hard to choose from, but I managed!
The service was attentive just to the right degree. Go and enjoy!

Glen Ellen Dinner
The restaurant did an amazing job accomodating a large group. I am sorry to say that everyone's food was not hot when it came to our table. I think they tried to serve everyone at once and therefore some plates sat too long before the meal was delivered.

A delightful afternoon on the deck.
Three of us booked for noon on a Friday; got there a bit early and were seated at the table of our choosing, which was on the pretty, shaded deck. Our wait staff was fun, and professional. There when we needed them but not hovering or interrupting otherwise. Our meals were all first rate; interesting preparations. The wine list was ample, the markups were reasonable. There was one hiccup. My 94 year old uncle was so enchanted with the martini menu (which was very clever) that on the way out he asked someone who appeared to be the manager if they had a handout of the list. The manager said no. Given that the menu was just a laser printed sheet inside a clear menu holder, that seemed goofy. But easily solved. I took one. My uncle loves it.

Everything was great from the moment of entry to exit. Our dining experience included wonderful service, pleasant atmosphere ,and was quiet enough for guests to carry on a conversation. Each of us in our party of 4 enjoyed our food and its great presentation. Quite Nice!

To die for!
Easily one of the best resturants I have ever been to. I will be returning soon an often.
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
We dined on Monday 24th, 2013. Our waiter was outstanding. We had a varied assortment of entrees including two specials: one fish (lingcod), one steak (strip), the mussel entree and the ravioli. All were excellent. We will return.

Another wonderful night
Went to Glen Ellen Inn for dinner with friends and my wife Sunday night. The food was, as always, excellent. The wait staff was always there, but you never realized it! Food was prompt but not rushed. I know, I know, it sounds too good to be true...but this time, it is true!!
9/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was very good, however, my meal of the homemade pumpkin ravioli has way too much sauce on it. It would have been excellent with just a hint of sauce. Too greasy. Other than that, I tasted the salmon and mahi mahi special and they were very good. Dessert was excellent. Ambiance excellent.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
I have dined here numerous times and it is always great. The food, service and ambiance is some of the best in Sonoma Valley.
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is my fourth time dining here and my third time at having the filet mignon. I love a great fillet and though it was grilled perfectly and tasted wonderful, at least a third of it was gristly fat! Surely this could be seen prior to grilling! I would have returned it (Bernaise covered it) but had eaten over half by then. For the price, this was very disappointing.
11/1/2013 5:00:00 PM
We dined here on Saturday night and it was excellent !! Our waitress Krystal was the best. The service was great, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was quaint and romantic. Fresh baked focaccia bread and scones. Started with the bacon/potato soup which was yummy, then we had both the fire-grilled oysters and the baked oysters. Both were delicious. My wife had the chili-lime prawns over coconut rice which she loved and I had the Cioppino which was great as well. Great selection of Martini's!! The desserts were also very good. Would highly recommend this place. We'll be back!!
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
A Real Treat!!
Went there with some out of town friends, after spending some time wine tasting in the area. We had a variety of menu items that were all terrific. The Ling Cod special was exceptional. The Chiopino the best I've had, a true stew, and not a fish soup. Shared the Pop Corn Ice Cream Dessert, which sounded very odd, but it was Spectacular. It alone was worth the trip.

Excellent Lunch today
We have been dining at Glen Ellen Inn for years and it is always a great experience. The food, service and atmosphere are consistently top notch. The baked goods are all home made and are wonderful including scones, bread and desserts. The pasta is home made and always great. I highly recommend the mussels and garlic fries. The sauce is to die for.

A dinner you can count on
We had another wonderful dinner experience at the Glen Ellen Inn. We frequently think of it when we're looking for a place to celebrate as both the ambience, food, and service are excellent.

Wonderful ladies lunch spot
Nine ladies dined here for lunch last Friday and we all went away very happy. Salads, burgers, soup, mussels were all delicious. Our waiter could not have been more professional and was very accommodating. The atmosphere was lovely.

Brought the folks, everyone happy
Glen Ellen Inn Oyster Bar is a real wine country find. My wife and I come several times a year for a 'date night'. In addition to the great food and Oyster Bar their killer app are the 'secret cottages'. Very romantic, and after enjoying a wonderful meal with wine, we can stroll back to our accommodation without having to drive home.
For this visit we brought my wife's parents who couldn't say enough nice things about their experience. We started in the Oyster Bar where they chose Champagne to go with the oysters. I had a martini made with China Beach Vodka, an award winning vodka made from grapes. Then on to dinner featuring lamb, steak and salmon all excellent. The wine selection and service were also as good as it gets.
