Comfort food prepared with
Comfort food prepared with panache. Locally sourced and meats smoked/cured in-house. Inventive combinations. Both upstairs and down have great but different vibes. Our favorite East End restaurant.

nice neighborhood place
East Ender is a nice spot for a casual dinner. The menu is limited, especially is you don't want fried food, but it is tasty. The atmosphere and service make it worth going.

Matt and his staff did a great job. The food is excellent as usual and the specials are always amazing. Love the locally sourced and in-house made dishes. This is a Don't Miss restaurant.

Had a wonderful experience at East Ender. Will 100% be back. I had the burger- which sounds simple but was FULL of amazing flavor!! Not to mention the salt and vinegar fries which I will dream about until I have them again...
The other menu item I suggest is a must have is the nachos which are topped with large pieces of lobster :) amazing!

East Ender a Must
Easily an eater's city, Portland is home to many great restaurants. Living amiably next to the popular Duck Fat, The East Ender holds its own. Great service paired with solid cocktails and incredible food makes for a great dining experience. Chef-Owner Mitchell Gerow has put together an interesting and eclectic menu of home-style favorites and strong high-end dining dishes. Highlights include but are far from limited to deviled eggs that change garnish daily an incredible line up of house-made charcuterie. Nothing on the menu comes in a package, it's all in house. If you need something special, just ask for Mitch or Meg. they'll take good care of you.

Best meat in town
Our entrees were outstanding -- really the best meat I've eaten! You can tell that it's local and it's fresh. We enjoyed the veggies too!

Our first time at the east
Our first time at the east ender. Liked the diverse menu. The chilled soup special left a lot to be desired but the rest of the items we chose were good. Would definitely come back.

We will be back
While I have had lunch at EE clients on several occasions I had never had dinner there. When a group of friends were in town over the weekend, I thought I would give it a shot and we were not disappointed. A friendly voice called to confirm our reservations and we were promptly seated at the time we booked.
Once seated, drinks we ordered and served promptly. Although the menu is not large, everyone in our group of eight quickly found something of interest (daily specials looked great) and we were not disappointed. From filling salads, to perfectly fried selections to the Lobster Roll, we ate every last bite. I was a little disappointed in the Salted Carmel Ice Cream Sandwich dessert, but the cheese cake was inventive and delicious.

They're close, but...
Portland seems to have a burgeoning food scene. This was my first time in Portland and based on reviews and menus this sounded really good. However, the execution of the food doesn't quite live up to the inventiveness displayed by the menu. Small things make a difference. I had the Montreal rubbed brisket, but the portion was flooded by a very tangy barbecue sauce, on top of the aggressively spice-rubbed brisket, which pretty much negated the balance of the dish that I expected the polenta to bring. If served with half or 1/3 of the BBQ sauce, the dish might have been saved.

Their menu says that everything is made on site and I believe it. We had a most enjoyable dining experience.

Fun restaurant with great
Fun restaurant with great food! Have to try the deviled eggs... so delicious! The stairs to the upstairs dining area are steep... so be careful how much you drink! Would definitely go back!

The burger and fries I had were really yummy, especially the fries! I love salt and vinegar. The wait staff was really friendly, loved the atmosphere in the restaurant.

A lucky find for weekend visitors
Interesting menu, reasonable prices. Relaxed but attentive service. Casual ambiance with tasteful decor.

I needed a last minute reservation at a restaurant that had good food and interesting cocktails...and nearby parking. I'm not sure why this restaurant isn't always filled since the few times I've been there it has never failed to be excellent. My scallops were delicious and so was the blueberry mojito. My 3 friends also commented that their food was really good. If you've never been here you should try it. It's a comfortable feeling place so I'm not sure it would be great for a romantic meal but I can't find anything really wrong with it.

a nice find...
We were tired and hungry after a day of travel and were completely unfamiliar with the area. Once again Opentable came to the rescue. This restaurant is super convenient to the waterfront Hampton Inn. The hanger steak with salt and vinegar fries was delicious. Our server was very friendly and helpful.

Our server (I think her name
Our server (I think her name was Jo?) was great! I usually get the risotto but changed it up and got the pulled pork. It was Awesome, i could have eaten a whole plate of the cheesy cauliflower. Cucumber Collins is always a great way to unwind after work.

We enjoyed our meal on a Sat.
We enjoyed our meal on a Sat. night. There weren't many other patrons while we dined and that kept the noise level down. Attractive room, delicious food - one of the best salads with exotic greens I've ever had. The dressing was light and subtle and allowed the greens to shine.

Good Comfort Food
We ate upstairs. We got the highly touted lobster nachos but they just didn't do it for us - they were good but not awesome. The burger was great. Salads were delicious. All in all a good Monday night out.

Wonderful neighborhood restaurant
We had a very good, interesting dinner in the downstairs room. After a week of eating mostly fish and seafood, we both chose beef: the short rib special and the Montreal smoked beef from the regular menu. We would order them again as they were flavorful and combined with appropriate sides. Service was efficient and the waitress was helpful. Definitely a wonderful neighborhood restaurant convenient to our downtown hotel.

Consistently great meals
I discovered the East Ender last year when I had guests visiting my business. The restaurant is located near the hotel they were staying at (Hampton Inn across the street). The three of us had a great evening of food and drink. We ate at the bar upstairs. Since then I have returned several times with friends and had a great meal each time.
This weekend I visited again on a Friday night and had a delicious meal of the Mushroom Risotto while my guest had the brisket. There was a large wedding party seated upstairs so it was busy and loud (but pleasant) and we were still served promptly. We also both had salads that were fresh and tasty. The service was attentive and friendly but not constantly checking on us like at some places.

Great for a bite. Huge entrees.
I'm not sure how we missed this place, but it is definitely worth a visit. We visited with 2 teens and although there were few children there, it was great for all of us. Nice ambience. Bar downstairs and restaurant up a steep flight of stairs. We sat upstairs where it was spirited, but not ovewhelmingly noisy the way it can be some places. There was a robust selection of food choices. I will probably come again and next time order a selection of starters rather than an entree as there was no possibility of finishing both an appetizer and entree due to the large portion sizes, and we preferred our appetizers and bar menu items to the standard menu items. Trout fritters and the polenta were particularly amazing. Crab cakes were huge.

The lobster nachos were worth the price of admission. We also shared a pizza and pulled pork sliders. All were yummy. We had a great waitress and sat upstairs, which we liked better than the first floor space.

Creative Bar Fare
Fun atmosphere with creative bar fare. Start with the fried bologna sandwich and go from there!

Girls Night Out
A great dinner for girls night out. We split some appetizers (make sure you try the deviled eggs!), a salad, and each had our own entree. The diver scallops were to die for and the Surf and Turf burger lived up to its reputation.
