Wonderful pick for bday dinner
We had a great night at Seersucker. We ordered a variety of plates - biscuits and the ham plates to start; pork, fried chicken, duck as entrees - and all was incredible! The service was excellent - very attentive and friendly - too, which is hard to find in a lot of restaurants at this price point. They brought us wine while we waited for our table to be ready (not too long but there was a group finishing up when we arrived) and were attentive the whole night. They also brought us delicious soup samples from the chef. It was my birthday and they did one of the desserts with a candle, all super lovely. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends!!
Beautiful space, intimate (though we had 6 and it was fine), not too loud.

The food was outstanding.
The food was outstanding. I had a delicious bowl of heirloom tomato soup with grilled cheese. The grilled cheese wasn't anything special, but the tomato soup more than made up for it. I also had a glass of ginger lime soda, which was delicious. My husband had the angus burger with a spicy mayo and bacon jam. He said it was really good. Our friends had the Quinoa Salad and Pork Dip. They gave both dishes rave reviews.
The service was also excellent. We were seated quickly. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The food was served in an appropriate amount of time.
I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We have been to Seersucker for dinner and for brunch, and have loved every bite. And, their drinks are fantastic. Highly recommended.

My Brooklyn favorite
Original menu that never tries too hard. And they take reservations, which is rare in Brooklyn.

Great dinner, neighborhood fav!
Nice atmosphere and the food and staff are always solid

Seersucker is one of our favorite spots for brunch. The menu has selections we like and the food is good. Everything is presented well and the service is attentive. And the coffee is great.

We all had a wonderful brunch. The food was fresh and served hot and in a timely fashion. We had 2 young children who enjoyed their food as well.

Southern Made Modern
I recently went to Seersucker after reading a great review of the restaurant in The New York Times. Having learned to cook from my Southern grandmother, as soon as I heard grits were on the menu, I rounded up some other Southern friends, and booked a table. The food exceeded all of our expectations. While Southern food has a tendency to be a little greasy & heavy, the food at Seersucker was light, multi-dimenstional and perfectly seasoned. Service too was homey but refined. Wine stewart had great recommendations and service staff knowledgeable about every dish. The only disappointment was the dessert, which missed the mark, but Seersucker is one I'll recommend to others.

Birthday Dinner with friends
I took my husband and a few friends here for a Birthday dinner. As always, the food was excellent and the service friendly. Service was a little slow compared to their very efficient brunch service, which is what I'm used to, but it's possible they were understaffed. Either way, they were very accommodating for our group of 5 and even had a little birthday dessert with a candle for my husband. I didn't even have to request it--all I had mentioned was that is was his birthday. Cocktails are tasty and staff are knowledgable. Seersucker never disappoints!

Great food. Great ambiance.
Great restaurant. Fantastic food, excellent service and wonderful ambiance. The fried chicken was fantastic and both my kids loved it. The duck was succulent and juicy. The scallops buttery and cooked to perfection. The food has so much flavor and is rich that I couldn't finish my dinner portion. We had the collards for an appetizer and my husband who isn't big on the leafy greens oohed and aahed over it. Very well prepared and seasoned. The only disappointment was the dessert menu. As an added bonus, they always have fantastic music playing. Service is OUTSTANDING--Attentive without being in your face.

Had a great dinner here with old friends from out if town.
They loved coming to Brooklyn and dug the neighborhood.
Fantastic cocktails, excellent service and great food.
What's not to like?

Food that you would find in the South with an urban touch is what you'll find at this venue. Minimalist surroundings and concentration on the food and drink is what you'll find at Seersucker. Appetizers are terrific as well as the entrees. The LI chardonnay we had was suprisingly delicious. Well planned and complimetary menu and drinks make this repast an original and memorable nite out.

Great food/service; costly, noisy
Fantastic food, polite and prompt service. My spouse and I had the biscuits and country ham, the catfish, and the duck, and for dessert the peach crumble, all exquisitely prepared. Portions are reasonable, not heaping (though some would probably consider them small). It probably won't be a regular spot for us because of the high prices (we used a $100 gift certificate and still had to pay on top of that), but it's a great spot for special occasions. My only (mild) negative is that the acoustics of the place amplify sound so that even a moderate crowd sounds quite loud.

Absolutely outstanding Food/Service
First time experience was phenomenal. Here is a bulleted breakdown from best to worse.
Food was outstanding. A real mind blower.
Service was Great. Staff is patient and have Attention to detail.
Ambiance was at ease.
Location was on the smaller end. Great interior design.
Decent American Wine list. no imports
Some side dishes are more memorable than the main course.
Meals came out on que. Seems they want a high turnover without rushing anyone which is fine by me.
Little bit on a the loud end of the Noise scale but it is hard to keep the open area quite amongst all guest.
Close to train
I wish they would open a spot in downtown Brooklyn. I would frequent often if that was the case.

Extremely knowledgeable waitstaff and friendly service. Green bean salad was amazing as were the Berkshire Pork and Duck dishes. The waitress was able to suggest a beautiful wine paring. Wasn't in love with the Buttermilk Tart (just based on personal preference) but the Rice Pudding ice cream it was paired with was to die for. Overall a lovely experience with great ambiance, both laid back and romantic.

I loved this place. Decor is bright, open and smart. Service was upbeat, informative and well timed. Food was killer. From appetizers to main courses the food was fresh, beautifully prepared and exquisitly tasty. A real find!

Comfort Food in Brooklyn, NY
Worth the drive.
Start with the biscuits, but watch how many you eat. Do try the corn pancakes, and the dumplings. Follow with the fried chicken and a side of mac and cheese. End with the chocolate ice cream. A slight disappointment were the collard greens.

best fried chicken we have ever eaten and great service to boot!

Post Wedding Lunch
My partner David and I, along with our witness Carla, had a fantastic lunch at Seersucker, right after getting married at Brooklyn City Hall. As soon as we arrived (45 minutes late), we were greeted with smiles and complimentary champagne (thank you !). The service was outstanding, the menu was diverse and fun (we wanted to try it all). We started off with the biscuits (a must) and loved, loved, loved the molasses butter. My (new) husband ordered the fried chicken and it was literally the best he's ever had. We all had a taste and it was heavenly. Carla and I shared the catfish sandwich (I could have had 3 of these...so good) and we also ordered the breakfast taco (those were good). For dessert we shared a chocolate caramel tart. Delicious!

Great Meal, Great Restaurant
We loved our meal here and would return in a minute. Wonderful, fresh food, Southern food with a modern green market approach. We loved the salads, the catfish and the fried chicken. Great and helpful server. The atmosphere was pleasant and quiet, but since we dined on Rosh Hashanah, I'm sure it is normally noisier.
9/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
The moment we stepped into Seersucker,
we felt comfortable and ready to sample
the menu. Cleary the atmosphere compliments the
tasty and gracious southern breakfast fare of organic eggs, grits, fried green tomatoes, hominy hash and some greens.
Only thing missing was corn bread.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was delicious and the staff were extremely attentive. Will go back in the future and will recommend to my foodie friends looking for a tasty dining experience.

Another wonderful Meal!
Once again we had a lovely meal at Seersucker. My only criticism is the noise level (loud!) and we had to wait 15 minutes for our reservation. The food ans service were excellent.
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
delicious, great atmosphere
the food is stellar! creative and expertly prepared using incredibly fresh and flavorful ingredients. plus, they take reservations, a rarity these days! it's a cozy, uncrowded spot, meaning the tables are well spaced and not too many of them. the noise level is low, but it still feels like a warm destination. great!

As recommended by the Barefoot
We recently saw an episode on the Food Network with the Barefoot Contessa and she was at the restaurant. We were in town from San Francisco on business and my husband and I decided to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to experience it. We had the amazing fried chicken. We also had the Bloody Mary
as well as the Cab Franc from upstate in the Finger Lakes are where one of us grew up. Worth the cross country trek as well as the borough walk. Fantastic!!

Really great place.
We had some issues with the G train being down and our new-to-the-city dining partners were over an hour late. Still, they held our table for the vast majority of that time before asking us if we couldn't accept bar seating to make their lives easier. Passed the wait for our friends with great coffee at the bar before tearing into biscuits and poached eggs over sweet potato and hominy hash. Was so pleased that the staff was as accommodating as they were. Can't wait to go back.
9/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
The restaurant was charming. Although the restaurant was crowded, our group of 4 was able to talk easily. The waitstaff was very helpful and the recommended specials were delicious.
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
One of my favorites!!
Great and interesting dishes that never disappoint. Much of the food and liquor is local which is also a plus. If you only order one thing make sure it is the fried chicken, so amazing!
9/26/2013 5:00:00 PM
Great, super fresh delicious food
The food was delicious. The menu had something for every taste. Everything tasted fresh and was perfectly prepared . The service was a bit slow for my taste. Seems like servers need to listen better and be faster. We also needed to wait 30 minutes even when we had a reservation. All the staff was friendly though. The tomato soup and the biscuits were to die for!

They have done it again!!
We have returned to seersucker several times now for special occasions. It is always very well prepared and imaginative. The ingredients are all very high quality and prepared very simply but yet sophisticated.
We look forward to returning again in the near future.

I really liked this food. I got the duck breast. The portion was small but very very tasty. I also tasted the chicken, pork and risotto, all DELICIOUS

Southern food Brooklyn style
As a southerner living in the city, Seersucker is like a taste from home...only better!! Fantastic twists on southern staples like catfish and fried chicken. Fresh ingredients, superior starters and a great selection of seasonal entrees. My 8 year old devoured his Lobster and grits and washed it down with an Arnold Palmer!! It's worth the trip to Brooklyn!
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
First off, this place has great food. Biscuits, drinks... everything. We arrived early but weren't seated until 20 minutes after our reservation time (in spite of 4 open tables for two). Apparently the people sitting at our table were finishing up. We waited at the bar and got coffee. To make up for the delay in seating us, they sent over biscuits as we were being seated which completely made up for the delay. Overall, great place for Sunday brunch in Brooklyn.

Always a Seersucker fan
I have been to Seersucker many times; the food is delicious! It's great for brunch, lunch and dinner. I often consider it for a special occasion, too. The fried chicken is delicious and the grits are to die for. I am also a huge fan of the mushroom omelet at brunch and the catfish sandwich and lunch.
We have noticed that when we first arrive the waitstaff is a bit slow on the uptake (it takes a while to get water and to be greeted by a server- maybe the hostess should serve water). And on this particular visit for brunch, we had a rather cold server (it pains me to say this) but I don't think she smiled once, we felt like we were a burden to her. We normally have a pretty cool guy as our server but I did not see him this time.

Amazing Duck Breast
I had quail, which is a special for the night, as my appetizer. And, I had the duck breast, which was spectacular. Both dishes were delicious but I will definitely go back for the duck breast!

A great neighborhood find in Brooklyn's chic Carroll Gardens. Love that it's located across the street from the park for nice views if seated toward the front. Creative comfort food with Southern flair. Attentive, knowing servers.

#1 Brunch/Lunch Spot in NYC!
Have been incredibly pleased with the food and the service here as of late! I cannot get enough of their biscuits and their bacon is cooked to perfection! The servers are so welcoming as well... hence, why I brunch here 2-3x a month!

Good Spot for Neighborhood Lunch
Enjoyed our weekday lunch -- not rushed and not too loud for conversation. My food (heirloom tomato soup, fried chicken sandwich, collard greens) was delicious, but I prefer dinner here because of the more extensive menu. We were a little disappointed that no desserts at all were offered at lunch.
10/29/2013 5:00:00 PM
Family night out
The food was very good, with lots of interesting variations. Will be going back!

Dressed up Southern goodness
I've been to Seersucker twice, had a great time both times. The fried chicken is great, and don't skip the biscuits, the molasses compound butter is amazing.

Never Fail Deliciousness
We live near here and are frequent diners. The food is always delicious, without fail. Their breakfast is good, lunch is better, but dinner is best. Had the lobster and grits with chanterelle mushrooms and it was out of this world. Great cocktails, small but nice wine list. Pro tip: get reservations. They are often fully committed if you walk in, meaning there is no point to wait because you will never sit down. Love this place!

Fabulous Food in Carroll Gardens
Reservations are a must here. The restaurant is small, but beautifully designed and well appointed. We enjoyed cocktails at the bar while waiting for our dining companions. The cocktail list is unique. The choices include vintage liquor options with ingredients that are special. I was pleased that the sweetness of my cocktail came from maple syrup. There is an excellent list of wines by the glass, including a very nice sparkling white from New Mexico made in champagne style. The food was really excellent with enough choices for the meat eaters among us as well as the vegans. I would love to have tried dessert, but the meal was so satisfying and filling that I could not. The coffee is great, but note that they do not serve espresso.

This is my favorite neighborhood
The food is exceptional, chef bring together southern treats with NY food flavors. The wines are great and they just go with the food. I always get a crock pot of collards, add the hot sauce and it is wonderful. My wife is addicted to the fried chicken, the specials when they have one really are SPECIAL. For me it is the sliced duck breast, LOVE IT! The service is outstanding, the servers, the bar staff are a treat. They are attentive but do not congratulate you on your choice, which is so annoying. They know the wines that go with the meal, ask they do want you to enjoy the meal. Try the cocktail smokey & the bandit. It just were I want to be on Friday night. It is date night for my wife and I and when you walk in the door, it so friendly.

Seersucker is one of our favorite brunch spots. The food is always delicious - Southern style with a NY twist. Fresh ingredients and creative combos. The BEST biscuits. They take reservations which is really nice, because you don't have to stand around waiting for a table.
