Another fine meal at one of
Another fine meal at one of Media's finest restaurants!
Started with the flat bread which had a new combo of delicious toppings.
For the main course, I chose the scallops and my wife had the Pennsylvania trout.
Booth were excellent!
We finished with a great ice cream and cake dessert brought to us by the gracious owner, Courtney!
Musical entertainment came by way of the very talented Andrea Carlson.

A great place to meet and
A great place to meet and catch up with friends who are like-minded foodies. The men enjoyed the specials of the day and the ladies agreed the poussin deserves to be a menu favorite. Lotus creates interesting combinations of sweet and savory in the desert selections. The waitstaff were attentive and helpful. We were never rushed - and spent s couple of hours enjoying the excellent food and conversation.

My husband and I went to Lotus
My husband and I went to Lotus for a birthday dinner and were delighted! He had the steak, I had a mache salad and salmon, and both were excellent. We brought our own wine. Even so, our dinner wasn't cheap, but the portions were plentiful and satisfying. The service was very good. Recommend.

Scallops were the best I ever
Scallops were the best I ever had, striped bass also excellent. Was not crazy about the oysters served with dill pickle. The desert -- olive cake, a basil custard, sweet red wine reduction, and sorbet -- a fascinating combination.

The flavored are fun They excel at uses seasoning and creating savory combinations. I usually don't want dessert but I would like to see them come up with a small bite dessert

Terrific "health food" restaurant in Media. Relaxed service, pretty dining room with an Indian look.

This is the second time that I have been to Lotus. First, a girlfriend took me and then I took my husband. The menu is very creative, putting together foods that aren't seen together. I love the way that the plate looks good coming out and you get to eat something you might not have thought of. I have had sea bass and scallops, my company has had pork belly and pork shank. The veggies were great with special little edible delights like crisp, dehydrated apples or kale adding a nice texture. I didn't have the ramp sorbet but I'm sure that it would have worked as did everything we were served.
I have a feeling that this restaurant will be growing. There are not many places that you can find such culinary creativity. I will be returning

LOVE: Lotus Farm to Table
I always love coming here... The food is fresh, inventive & always delicious.. I love the atmosphere & the staff are always nice, professional & helpful... IMy recent visit was with my sister & Mother. We are not big meat eaters, so it was a little difficult to order at first, however, our lovely server was able to come up with 2 FABULOUS fish dishes for us.... they really do try to make everything possible, & they pulled through for us... the salads are wonderful & fresh....I can't wait to go back!

a small gem for local-vores
Wonderfully prepared locally sourced foods. This means that offerings change regularly, so if you want to order the same thing every time you visit, you will not be happy, but if you want inspired food, it's the place for you. Duck confit and local trout were big hits at our table!
Casual, friendly atmosphere. Not inexpensive, but reliably great food.

A rebuttal to the yelp stuff
After we made reservations at Farm to Table, my wife read on-line reviews which were not good. We almost cancelled our reservation.
However, we had four in our party and the food was very good--interesting items that were well prepared. Good salads with really nice fresh ingredients, and the main courses (trout, pork, rib-eye and lamb) were carefully prepared, nicely sauced and served hot.
Two negatives---charging $2 for very mediocre and NOT warm bread, and the house sparkling water is not cold and kinda flat! But the positives far outweigh these minor, easily corrected negatives and any place with food this good--and that is a BYOB joint--is a great value. They should strive to maintain--and improve--current food quality and service.

great place service too slow
I really love this place and food is really good but the service needs to speed it up a bit. Prices are a bit high but its worth it for the freshness of the food. If they were a bit lower it would be even better.

Great food, some of the decor is a little cheesy but great food!!

Great space, fab burger.
I am a foodie and was wondering why they serve a burger, at a low price, considering the other items would be awesomely prepared given this farm to market dining place. They cannibalize the revenue of the other items. At this night the price went up to $39. My gal ordered the burger, I ordered the duck. It had a little bit of fat that was seared perfectly, providing that crunch. It was supported by beets, potato's and other available items - including shaved foie gras. The burger was fluffly, a nice peice of port loin and a fried egg. She wasn't sharing. I understand why the table to the left of us had 3 orders of the 5 people. I wondered why that happened, it was a blues fest night in the town.
The service: Was really really good.

Great evening at Lotus! It was the Blues Stroll in Media and Andrea Carlson and her Love Police made some mighty fine music for us while we enjoyed our dinners.
Started with the amazing chef’s selection-artisan raw cheese board. My wife loved the grass-fed beef burger, turkey bacon, aged cheddar, house honey mustard, red onion, fried egg, red wine vin, greens. I tried a new item on the board, Soft Shell Crab Sandwich. Most eateries offering this Eastern Shore delicacy serve it too tough and stringy. Not chef Ryan! The crab had a light coating and was delicate and delicious. Ate many soft shells down Maryland, and none were better than this! Great table service, too!

Usually an overall excellent
Usually an overall excellent experience but we made reservations for the Media " Dining under the Stars" event so we ate outside - not a great idea. There was a combo playing music on the sidewalk and it was so loud that you couldn't hear yourself talk. My friend ordered scallops and while the entrée was very good, it arrived with only two scallops and they were average size, it looked like an appetizer or small plate. Hope this is an isolated experience because in the past it has been wonderful.

Always a pleasure to dine here
Lotus is such a pleasure to have in Media! Even on this very busy "Under the Stars" dining night, the food was wonderful.

First Time at Lotus
My son and his wife joined me and my wife for a first trip to Lotus during Dining under the Stars in Media on July 3. If you haven't tried a Wednesday in Media during the summer, you have really missed a fun dining experience. Lotus is definitely one of the restaurants you will want to add to the list. The food was unusual, delicious and presented perfectly. We shared a couple appetizers and had a mix of fish and meat dishes for entrees. My wife found several good gluten free offerings. Since it is a BYOB restaurant the cost of an evening at Lotus is much less than that of a comparable one serving $50 wines. We had three bottles over a two hour dinner watching all the people stroll State Street and enjoying great food and conversation.

Fantastic creative food
The seemingly strange combinations of foods and flavors are wondrous! I haven't had a meal that I didn't swoon over. Definitely my favorite local restaurant, but it is in my top 10 of the region. (and we love to eat out!)
The chef is a creative genius. All the varied tastes work!

We are frequent repeat customers, always a pleasure to eat here, only objection is that the food tends to be too salty, chef seems to love pickled things more than we do.

We picked a bad evening. It was very hot out & the restaurant door was kept open so the heat came in because it was a special night out in Media for out door dining on State St.

Best place we have eaten at in months. Amazing food. We will be back at least once a week!

Always excellent farm to table food
Lotus Farm to Table continues to impress us with each visit with their creative and unique menu selections. Where else can we find items from local farms and vendors including wild boar with pan-fried trout, duck confit with soft shell crab and just about the best hand-pulled fresh mozzarella we've had? I highly recommend this restaurant for an exceptional meal any time!

Great food and healthy too
Dining under the stars in Media. A wonderful night. Good food and good service. Very enjoyable. We will make it a regular dining spot.

Good example of the farm to table movement. Great presentations.

A nice, eclectic menu, attractive
A nice, eclectic menu, attractive setting, and everything they serve looks good. Slightly taken aback when we were seated immediately next to guitar player in back of restaurant, the level of noise was overwhelming, but after some resistance we were reseated (there were five open tables near the front). Heavy emphasis on fresh vegetables. The place was packed because they moved everyone inside who otherwise had reserved a table for dining under the stars.
8/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
great, natural, local alternative
Highly recommended for discriminating palates. Just happened to go two days in a row and was not disappointed either time!!
8/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
A charming atmosphere, delicious food in a place that prides itself on fresh locally-sourced food. Attentive service. The noise was a little loud at first, but they offered to turn it down. The only quibble was I thought the portions could have been more generous.

Lotus has still got it
I confess to finding a little more unevenness lately, but the slips are minor, overall the food is still excellent. It seemed to me that they have lowered some of their prices a little--or maybe it's just that the rib eye steak is no longer on the menu. But once again the house was relatively empty on a Friday night, it's worrying that the only really good restaurant in Media will not survive while the quantity-over-quality schlockhouses down the street endure. Such a sad commentary on Media. Craig LaBan, where are you when we need you?

Farm to table
We were very impressed with Lotus and the food itself was fantastic. All of the dishes required only light spicing due to the imbedded freshness of all the ingredients. We tried the house mozzarella with heirloom tomatoes as well as the phenomenal pancetta with potatoes. For the entree, I had well-seared salmon on a bed of chick peas, apples, cauliflower, and garlic; moist and rich, thoroughly enjoyable. My girlfriend got the local beef burger which was succulent and flavorful, topped with lamb bacon. Needless to say, it was wonderful. Dessert was impressive: a coffee flan with house-made coffee ice cream. Not to mention our bill for this nice meal was less than it would have been at restaurant week in the city; Lotus is great , also BYOB!.

Inventive and delicious
This is a funky little spot, with new age kind of décor that is very appealing and a quiet serenity to the room (except for a light from the fridge in the back!). The food is very inventive and everything we had was delicious--great heirloom tomatoes, lovely salmon with smoked cauliflower--surprisingly successful. It is BYOB and wine is served expertly in lovely glasses. It is altogether an interesting dining experience and lovely.

My husband and I live in Drexel Hill, so getting in and out of Philadelphia to go out for dinner and drinks can be a hassle. Alternatively, getting to and from Media by trolley is easy, so we were very excited to find a restaurant like Lotus. The decor and ambiance felt like a restaurant you would find in downtown Philly, but we didn't have any trouble making a reservation (I reserved a table the afternoon prior) and the prices were reasonable. We accidentally left our bottle of wine at home, but luckily there was a wine and spirits store a few blocks away. The menu was unique and the food was great. We will definitely be back. Ideal for a date night or a night out with another couple.

Another great meal at Lotus
I confess that the beets in the beet salad were under-roasted, both this week and last week in two different salads; just a bit too crunchy and one of my dining companions was unhappy with that; but otherwise the meal was superb. Duck last week, lamb this week, both cooked to perfection. The frozen goat cheese dessert this week was really creative and delicious. Still the best restaurant in Media. Glad to see that the house was fairly full this Saturday night; the previous week, a Friday, was disappointingly slow. But Lotus still seems to be holding its own. I still don't understand why Craig LaBan hasn't reviewed this place.

The food pairings were unusual at first glance, but after tasting my food, I was pleasantly surprised. What a nice restaurant! I will go back for seconds!

Support Locally Grown!
Most of the food was delicious and the portion sizes were quite adequate. We enjoyed the decor and the serving pieces for certain of the courses were so much fun. You can go here for a full on dinner with appetizer or, if you want something smaller, many of the appetizers would be great for a late night snack. BYOB services were very good. Count on nothing less than $17 for a main dish, most were about $25 and the small dishes were between $8-13 and scrumptious. The best part? Locally sourced of course!!
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
With the exception of the food taking 25 minutes, our experience was very nice. We were warned of the long wait, so I was not upset. I would return.
