Thanks for waiting ....:)
We went to Sofia's for Easter and were a bit late for our reservation due to traffic. Upon calling the maitre D, we assured our table would be waiting for us. This was a relief, since we were a party of nine, with four hungry kids anxious to eat. Upon arrival, the staff was very accommodating. The selections were plentiful and the quality of food excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meal, which was prepared scrumptious lay and served without delay. Even though Little Italy can be considered very commercial, Sofia's gave you a special touch.

Great outdoor patio to people watch
Visited for first time. Great dinner on a Saturday night with lots of people watching and the St. Anthony procession. Felt that we might have been over-charged a bit on a special order but overall the prices were reasonable. Would go again.

Friendly welcoming service
Family get together to celebrate Father's Day following game at Yankee Stadium and we were very pleased with Sofia's. We were a group of 11 and our table was set and ready when we arrived. Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing. We ordered the antipasto for the table and it was excellent -- cured meats, roasted vegetables and the best bruschetta I've ever had. Each person was pleased with their entree and the king prawn with black pasta was wonderful. The only complaint was several of the entrees, veal saltimbocca was served without a side of pasta which for the price should have been included. Overall a pleasant experience!

My bf wanted fettuccini Alfredo, but I wanted real Italian food. (Alfredo sauce is an American thing.) So I just resigned myself to bad Americanized food in a tourist trap. I WAS SO WRONG. Great service, actual Italians among the wait staff, and an excellent meal. Yes, it's Italian-American, but it doesn't pander to the tourist trade. The service is fast, efficient, and professional; they do a brisk business and serve quality cuisine.

We had a great dinner and enjoyed the Little Italy neighborhood. We sat outside because the interior of the restaurant was very warm.

Sophia's of Litle Italy
We had reservations & were seated immediately.
They were kind enough to replace a spilled glass of wine & were very helpful to clean it up.
The food was good. It would have been nice to listen to Italian music vs the Beatles, you know- just for ambience.
The prices were reasonable but I always feel, throwing in some pasta as a side can't hurt. It's so cheap so why not?
I would go there again.

A most enjoyable lunch at Sofia's
While in NYC for the weekend, we had a most enjoyable lunch at Sofia's on Sunday Aug 18th. The marinated olives were a nice start. My chicken francese was so tender and flavorful you didn't even need a knife. I loved the red sauce on my pasta. My husband had the veal cannelloni and loved that too! For dessert...although we could have opted to get it at one of the gelato stands on the street, since we were already at a comfy table by the window, we both ordered gelato and it was also very good,
Our server, Dante, did a great job and was very attentive without being pushy or obtrusive. It was a little pricey but we expect that in NYC. A lovely leisurely lunch and I would recommend Sofia's to friends.

We liked this place a lot. The woman I took on a date there told me the food was really good also. Would definitely go back again.

Good food and decent service
Ate here during the Feast of San Gennaro so it was pretty noisy due to the activities right outside. I had the mahi mahi with a side of roasted potatoes and asparagus. Not very Italian but delicious. The rest of my party ordered more southern Italian dishes heavy with tomato sauces but still great. As for drinks my chardonnay was good but the Mojito Italiano was the best. It's pretty much a mojito with sparkling wine in it. VERY GOOD! The service was average. Not good and not bad. Overall I like the place and will go back during a less crazy time to see how they are in the evening

When you need your pasta fix
Go for lunch on a Sunday, then you have time to work it off by bedtime. We were pasta happy by the end of this lunch! Started with Caesar salad which added dried cranberries - simple addition made it really unique and worked with the season as well. I had spaghetti carbonara and it was heavenly even though I prefer mine with peas that were not added here. My husband had veal canelloni - I do recommend it because it is excellent. Service was very good. The waitress even made us a new pot of ice tea when we had an issue with the taste of the ice tea mix. Our only problem we had the "people watcher" table inside by the door on a breezy chilly fall day and tables outside were still in use and it was cold when the door kept opening frequently.

A Night in Little Italy
What a terrific spot, the host sat us very quickly after stating our reservation for two. We had a window seat and were able to watch the activity of Mulberry Street while having the privacy of the restaurant. Drinks were served immediately and food shortly after. We weren't even rushed during dinner, as many NYC spots will look to turn their tables quickly, we were able to enjoy the last glasses of wine uninterrupted. Great spot!

It has been years since we visited Little Italy, NY. Sofia's is a gem. The food and service were outstanding. Perhaps, the BEST meal we have had in years....we HIGHLY recommend Sofia's!

We had a large group and we had a big table in the back where it was easy to talk. We stayed all evening and nobody seemed to mind that lingered. We ranged from 22 to 73 and we all had fun!

Not a tourist trap
We have been going to sophias for years and this time took a group of 8 friends with us. The staff was very accommodating and made us a special antipasto that was almost too gorgeous to eat! All of our guests loved their meals. It is authentic italian food that almost seems out of place on touristy mulberry street. It is definately a great find.
