Ordered the tasting menu, and I've never had so many different flavors in my mouth in just one meal--no, so many flavors in one bite! Niche was truly fine dining and I would go again and again, if only I could afford it. (But our meal was worth every cent!)

lived up to the hype
If you are a bit adventurous, and okay not having many options to choose from, Niche is spectacular. Our first look at the menu left us with a "huh?" type of feeling. But once the courses start rolling out it all makes sense. Completely delicious sense. Can't wait to go back.

Niche has a niche
Niche has a niche in St. Louis as highly recommended according to US Restaurants Top Places to Eat and Best Chefs America 2013. The Chef's Tasting Menu was amazing, light and unique. Creating combinations out of meringue and chives was a fabulous surprise for the palate! My favorite dish was a dessert that included tomato jam and cornbread with celery salt glass. The whole restaurant from Chef to wait-staff to hostess pay attention to all details. My 9 year old had to be along for the ride and you accommodated him beautifully. Between the hostess reassuring me it would be fine to bring him, to our server making small talk with him, to going next door to get him a pasta dish he would like we were impressed with your customer service!Thank you!

We went for our anniversary and were thoroughly pleased. Expensive if you go all the way, but worth it.

New Heights in the Dining Experiene
Niche is in a class all its own. While there are other fine restaurants in St. Louis, Niche presents an opportunity to experience the creations of one of America's cutting-edge culinary leaders, Gerald Craft, as he brings the dining experience to new heights. The food is delicious, with unique taste experiences in every course. It opens the door to what is possible in expanding the creativity of cooking to new frontiers.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Niche this past Saturday evening celebrating my birthday. We chose the chef's tasting menu and each course was more interesting and delicious than the next. Our server was wonderful and was happy to offer more explanation and answer all of our questions. And each server that delivered our courses was fully knowledgeable and offered full explanations of everything. It truly was an experience that cannot be had anywhere else in St. Louis. We cannot wait to return and see what new, interesting and inspiring courses Chef Craft comes up with. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Ended up at Niche because our usual Anniversary spot was booked. Originally from STL but stationed abroad so I had not heard anything about restaurant. Website said they were closed but opentable showed open for research and development. We took a gamble and we were blown away. Table had a waxed sealed card stock envelope when opened it revealed the 5 course meal we would be eating. Waiting staff was friendly and knowledgeable on all matters regarding the meal. If you enjoy wine they had a wine pair for each course for a little extra. The only bad thing I can say is the food was amazing and I wanted more.

This was our first time at Niche. The food and service at Niche was top shelf, as expected. While the preparation and presentation of the food was outstanding, there was nothing that we felt we "had" to return to eat again.

This was our first time to eat at Niche in Clayton. It was a magnificent evening. We had a party of four and everyone enjoyed the food and the experience. A wonderful destination for a special occasion meal or for any night out.

Excellent, knowledgeable and
Excellent, knowledgeable and personal service from the entire staff from the minute we walked in the door. Food interesting, artistically presented, and delicious. Very good wine list and the best sommelier we've ever had the pleasure of being helped by - knowledgeable, friendly, charming and a great sense of humor. Our first visit to the new Niche was a wonderful dining experience - a genuine Wow ! - and is now on our regular rota.
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our expectations for Niche were high coming in the door, yet the experience still blew us away. The service is impeccable. And the food is a total experience for the body and soul. Every bite blooms in your mouth -- sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami full tickled and then completely sated. The plates are presented with such beautiful attention to detail that you may feel compelled to take a photo. But don't mistake this for fussiness. This is the real deal, the flavors and textures specifically designed to make the whole greater than the sum of its carefully crafted parts. Niche is more than a place to eat, it is an experience that you will savor long after the meal if finished.

Dining at Niche is a great
Dining at Niche is a great experience. The entire meal is an experience. I did think that some of the courses were clearly more interesting and better than others. The Zucchini Soup and Hen of the Woods Mushrooms were outstanding.
On the wine pour, I thought the servings were small.

The prix fixe menu had lots of interesting choices - very unique items you won't find anywhere else! I am gluten-intolerant and loved that they could make most of the menu gluten-free, even had little gluten-free rolls that were tapioca based! Yum!

A St. Louis Must!
Niche is a must for St. Louis foodies. The wine tasting menu option is reasonably priced and well worth it. Fantastic service.
9/5/2013 5:00:00 PM
It was wonderful in every way. We each had the "pick four" tasting menu and shared it all. The next night we ate next door at the Pastaria which is owned by the Niche folks. It too was excellent... more casual, lots of kids, more noise but appropriate for the fare. We sat at the bar and chatted with the genuinely friendly bar tenders, watched the Cardinals on a convenient but unobtrusive flat-screen TV, and enjoyed the Italian influenced cooking. I particularly liked the Kale salad with a creamy anchovy based dressing along with a pistachio filled ravioli sautéed in browned butter. On our third and final night it was back to the Pastaria for more Kale and a fabulous pizza.

Niche tasting menu
The chefs put together the most creative combinations of tastes and textures I have ever eaten. Wonderful food presented beautifully. It is a fabulous experience.
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
We enjoyed the way the menu options were laid out. The food was amazing. We went for our anniversary, and would have liked more elbow room btwn us and the tables around us. It didnt seem like there was another option, but it was a little sardine like. This was our only complaint.
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Another Amazing Experience
We were a party of 4 with 2 vegetarians and we all had the Chef's tasting menu. The kitchen/staff seemed to relish the challenge of making a fantastic dining experience for us all, and they were up to the task! The journey through the courses struck the perfect balance of satisfying the palette but leaving you ready for the next dish.
It was a delightful dinner in every regard.

Best meal at Niche yet
It's impressive that although Niche is already the best restaurant in town, it continues to refine and improved the experience for the diner. We had the 9 course tasting menu and each course was executed well and each element was well chosen and in its right place. Highlights of the meal were a farro pasta course, the melted pork shoulder and the broccoli soup, but there were no dips in quality from course to course, just a delicious and interesting meal. They've improved the wine list this year and there are now many interesting choices. The service continues to be well informed and genuinely friendly- a pleasure to interact with. Highly recommend and already planning my next visit.

A Great Experience
Gourmet dining all the way! A small space, but I knew that usually means extradinary food and service. My friend and I were traveling from Chicago and had never been dining in St. Louis, but we were on the hunt for a great experience and good wine. I choose Niche in Clayton. The atmosphere was welcoming and upbeat. Our server Aaron was outstanding. He was knowlegable and explained the menu supurbly, making our food easy to choose. He also brought us wines to taste and choose from. Every course was delicious! He also surprised us with the farro pasta and it was amazing. Every so often the most gracious woman named Sara would come by and make sure we had everything we needed. It was a perfect finish to our trip!

Amazing food in St. Louis
This is one of the best, if not the best restaurant I have ever eaten at in St Louis. You will be amazed by all of the complex flavors and what all for into each dish. I will definitely be going again!

My husband and I really enjoyed
My husband and I really enjoyed niche for our anniversary dinner. The food and service was outstanding! I will try just about anything, my husband on the other hand is a bit more picky. Even he LOVED it!! It was Normal food, perfectly portioned, with a really unique playful twist and a beautiful presentation. I can't wait to go back again!

Amazing, beyond expectations!
Took my husband here for a surprise birthday dinner. We previously discussed having dinner at Niche sometime, and this was the perfect occasion. The experience really began with the night before when the hostess called me to confirm our reservation, which was nice; however, I was pleasantly surprised when she called to ask if there were any food aversions or food allergies. I'm used to the food allergies question, but food aversions -- how thoughtful!
Overall, superb food, fabulous food combinations (pork shoulder with hazelnut ice-cream, who knew?!), and impeccable service! We will definitely return again in the future.

Wonderful little place. Waiter
Wonderful little place. Waiter Todd could not have been more friendly and helpful. Menu is limited and when they say this is a tasting menu, believe them. The portions are very small and you may be looking for a pizza a couple of hours later. However, food is beautifully presented and nearly perfect. Dinner for two was just shy of $200 with a mid price bottle of wine. and the five course meal.

Went for my wife birthday. Creative preparations. My wife has a mushroom special as her third coarse which was one on the most amazing dishes I have ever had. Best restaurant in St. Louis.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
A great experience from the beginning to the end.
The food was very well prepared, using Latin flavors with local farm products to create a foodies dream night.
Excellent and attentive service.
A great experience overall.

Great food and excellent friendly
Great food and excellent friendly service. Anyone worrying about whether the special touches and flavors at the old Niche location would be left behind can fear not. One of the very best restaurants in STL and far better than other supposedly "highly-rated" restaurants at which I've dined in other cities.

Book your reservation to Niche NOW!
I was a little skeptical when making the reservation, would the food be as good as is looks, how will the service be, etc. Boy was i wrong to worry. This is by far the best dining experience i have had in my entire life. Our waiter Henry was amazing, his wine recommendations were both perfect for what we were looking for. Yes, niche is a tasting menu, but we left there way too full, mostly our fault (we couldn't stop eating the amazing food). This was a anniversary dinner for my wife and I, and this made our 7 hour drive down here well worth it.
We will definitely be back!!!!

Every bite its own
Every bite of the Chef's tasting menu was unique. Chef combined ingredients I would never consider to create flavors I previously hadn't experienced. Niche mates outstanding food with outstanding service in an atmosphere that encourages patrons to enjoy both on their own terms. The result is an experience that makes you appreciate the art and science of food.

It was our first time there. Our expectations were unreasonable and they met every one. One of the two or three best meals I have ever had.

Great anniversary celebration
We chose to splurge on the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. It was amazing! The flavor combos were delicious and the wine truly complimented the food. The only course we didn't care for was the sassafras cheese cake.
Our waiter was fabulous. He was excited to be serving us and taking us on this culinary adventure. He was very knowledgable about the food and the wines.
I would recommend Niche for a great date night or to celebrate an important day.
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
We did the Monday pre-fixe - everything was delicious. Fun sitting at the 'chef's table/bar so we could watch the very creative chefs in the kitchen. Really like that they have brought back the Monday 'rustic' dinners. We will be back.
10/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Niche is a place for foodies! Not quantity but true quality. The chef's tasting menu was outstanding. There was a virtually explosion of flavor with several of the courses. What you get is eight (8) small courses from appetizer to dessert. These are based on locally available items so they change from season to season. There is an open kitchen so you can view the preparation.
The real beauty of this restaurant is the skill of the chef in pairing flavors to tantalize and inspire the pallette. My wife and i thought it to be excellent!

We Always Enjoy Dining at Niche
This is our third dinner, and we were as pleased this time as the prior two. Delicious food, cocktails, wine, and terrific service.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
This was our first visit since the move to Clayton, and I'm happy to say the food is still outstanding. We tried the tasting menu, so we could sample more of the dishes on the menu, and every course had a wonderful variety of flavors, some quite unusual (in a good way). We recommend the wine pairings - the selections were more numerous and more interesting than we had recalled. Service was excellent.
Yes, a full-course meal can be expensive, but only for St. Louis, not by East Coast or California standards. My only quibble is still that the ambient noise level is still too much for my taste, despite the high ceiling - a little bit of sound absorbing material would go a long way. But overall, still an amazing culinary experience.
11/19/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food was outstanding !! Our first time visit to Niche, but will not be the last. The service could have been better, as we where for the very first time in this restaurant - we didn't feel like they did care much about us. We where late dine at 8:45 pm, maybe that was the reason.....

On Par with NYC, Chicago, SFO.
A hit on all levels that a top-tier venue would want to achieve.
Open, simple-yet elegant décor. Suits and gowns comingle with urban casual effortlessly. Great energy and vibe on a Friday evening.
Matt, the sommelier was exactly what you would want: friendly and very knowledgeable, without coming off as pretentious as can often be the case. Perfect.
Menu provides fantastic options of both a chef's tasting menu (our choice) and a la carte pairings for flexibility. Of special note: My wife is not a strict vegetarian as she does eat fish and shellfish. The staff was happy to modify her meat portions of the tasting menu to fit her philosophy, which allowed us to experience the tasting menu to its fullest. Bravo!
