Fine dinning in Pt Reyes Station
We went on a busy Friday evening, had submitted a reservation online, and were seated immediately. The oysters, blue-cheese salad, and salmon dishes were both fresh and delicious. We also enjoyed the desserts, which included sassafras ice cream that tasted like minty root beer, paired with a snicker-doodle cookie.

Best Dining in Point Reyes!
In all the years my husband and I have been visiting Point Reyes, Osteria Stellina has stood out as the best dining experience we have ever had there. The amazing food is local and organically grown, they offer some of the best wine we have ever had and their staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. On two occasions our waiter has made impeccable wine suggestions, so we were very impressed by that alone. The menu changes so each time we visit there is always something new and different. We also love the ambience and the décor. Make reservations as this is a hot spot for sure!

Wonderful dinner in Pt. Reyes
Osteria Stellina is a great restaurant not to be missed if you are in the Pt. Reyes area. Everything on the menu is delicious--you may want several first courses for dinner simply to be able to taste more. Dessert is great!

An excellent anniversary meal
My husband and I spent the weekend in Point Reyes for a non-milestone anniversary, and celebrated the occasion at Stellina. Food was delicious, place was very pleasant, friendly, relaxed. The goat stew was really tender (melt in your mouth) and the fresh wild salmon was perfectly prepared. Desserts were also tasty (and the restaurant threw in mine for free for our anniversary). We ate late (8:30) and it was pretty "energetic" until 9-ish, when it started to calm down and the noise lightened up. It wasn't a fancy, formal, romantic place, but it was really good food in relaxed environs perfect for a weekend mostly spent hiking and enjoying nature.

A Culinary Treasure!
Every visit reminds me to eat here more often. A creative menu, with local ingredients, is a true culinary treasure. I don't think I've eaten the same thing yet, and every time I walk away so impressed.

Lovely meal in lovely place
Ate dinner here on the first night of our three day stay in Point Reyes/West Marin. Service was terrific. I enjoyed my strip steak with potatoes and carrots, but my husband should have been more careful about his choice of the chicken; his meal came with polenta and braised greens, which he doesn't especially like, so I ended up swapping my potatoes for his polenta (which I love, and this was excellent). My salad was very nice but the shrimp salad my husband ordered was just ordinary per his judgment. (Warning - he's not much of a foodie.) The desert, however - panna cotta with strawberries - was terrific and enjoyed by both of us.

Nicest in town
We rode the Pt Reyes trails on horseback and were in town for the whole weekend. This was recommended and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, except the group of six, two of which felt the whole restaurant needed to hear what they had to say. The food was good and the cheese plate, one of the best I have had in years. Good service and a really friendly and knowlegable waiter.
We would clearly come back again, just hope the loudmouths aren't there.

I've given the service 4 stars because I have a thing against waiters removing dishes before everyone is finished with their meals.

We were early, 5:30 p.m. It wasn't too full so the noise level was fairly low. The service was excellent, the food was very good. We'd definitely go back.

Something for everyone
If you are a carnivore, you are in luck. If you are not, you will love the non-meat options.
I had my first taste of goat and it will not be my last. My husband had the brisket and it was outstanding. My health conscious teenage daughter took a chance on the oyster pizza and was not disappointed. There is plenty on the menu for vegetarians and vegans--many beans and greens. The side dishes were all tasty and fresh. The cheese tray was perfect. And all is local, local, local. Wines by glass are numerous and unique. A wonderful destination, a beautiful drive to get there, a relaxed, casual atmosphere. Wait staff is friendly, not the least pretentious, despite having every reason to be proud as punch, this place is terrific. We will be back.
6/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had the bone marrow, the goat and the lamb. Everything was wonderful and the service was friendly and efficient.

Tasty gem in Pt Reyes
My wife & I enjoyed excellent service & locally sourced, outstanding menu offerings in house one night; we were so impressed we took out pizza & salad for friends & family the next night. The service is personal & professional but not pushy, the food is fantastic and daring enough, but anchored in traditional excellence. Our impromptu take-out pizza family dinner for 8 featured the 4 special pizzas that week. We devoured them. It's unlikely there can be a winner amongst the various entrees because all were so perfectly done and truly excellent. Not fancy, just outstanding quality and personality from hostess to waiters to chef . Make reservations in advance - you will be amazed and start planning your next visit before the end of the meal.
6/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
The waiter was quietly efficient (but the busboy was way too chatty).
We had the mushroom pizza, a lamb dish, the oysters, a couple of glasses of wine. It was enough. We really didn't feel the need for dessert. But the dishes we had were superb. We were the last seating and there was no hurrying.
A very nice place.

Small town treat
On vacation from New York we were recently in the area on vacation and were very happy to have found this foodie gem. The atmosphere is simple, but the food is spectacular. We loved our oyster and mushroom pizzas which one of the best crispy crusts anywhere.

Notable Restaurant in Point Reyes
Stellina is a destination restaurant for us - we live in the East Bay. The food is always superb and the service is always wonderful.
This time, we arrived at 6:30 and we were glad that we had reservations!

We had excellent service from the time we stepped into the restaurant. We came from Southern Marin and we seated right away even though we arrived 15 minutes before our reservation. Our waiter was very attentive as was the rest of the staff. Everyone in our party of four enjoyed their meal and would definitely make the drive to go again. Our only disappointment is that the salad that featured bleu cheese had very little cheese in it.
7/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Stellina uses the freshest ingredients in imaginative ways. The puttanesca sauce for my swordfish was different: subtler, more delicious than any I've ever had before. The golden watermelon salad with mint and goat feta was wonderfully refreshing.
7/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
This small restaurant focuses on bringing fresh, local, seasonal food to table in imaginative ways, and they succeed beautifully. It's a favorite place, worth a long drive to get there.

Always a pleasure
As an organic gardening enthusiast, Stellina really speaks to my sensibilities and my senses. The ownership's dogged commitment to showcasing the very best food provided by sustainable, local, organic growers is to be admired. And, their use of those ingredients, well, oh my. Divine! Such a treat to go to this Point Reyes Station treasure.

Rarely is the frequency with which I reminisce about a salad; but the arugula salad has me craving a return trip. The bread was wicked good; as was the beans with greens over pasta. My husband had the salmon, which was very well-prepared; however the faro that accompanied it was bland and gelatinous. Pleasant, casual atmosphere with friendly, attentive service. Would return & recommend.

Worth the drive to Pt. Reyes
We have been for lunch twice and have been exceptionally pleased with the food and service. The pizza crust is perfect and toppings (the oysters and leek is excellent) perfect and we especially like the tuna conserve. Great Sonoma wines on tap; Unti Rose and Preston Sauvignon Blanc.

I first dined here on a visit
I first dined here on a visit two years ago, and returned the following night. On this occasion I came each (of four) day, and found my fond memories fully validated. Soups, salads, pasta, and mains were all excellent; the water buffalo gelato was a revelation. The staff was welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable. I look forward to visiting again.

Nice little spot in Pt Reyes
Not that there is too many other options.........Fennel/celery Anchovy salad was 4/5, Penne, white beans, greens 4/5, Braised lamb and polenta 4/5. Nice wine selection. You shouldn't be disappointed with anything on the menu. Great local vibe and employees that seem to like to work there.

Simply authentic Italian cuisine
Simply authentic Italian cuisine at it's best. Faultless exquisite food. The wines were great too not too mention the amazing maiden bread and fine cheeses. If I lived in Point Reyes I would be a regular at this place.

Great place, but a little pricey
I have been looking forward to coming here on a visit to the Pt. Reyes area. We really enjoyed the salad with pecans & blue cheese, the Salmon and Brisket main courses, wine recommendations and a delicious warm chocolate cake dessert. The service was good (though we had to ask for the bread they forgot to bring to our table) but ultimately we felt that our tab of around $100 for two people seemed pretty high for very good - but not truly outstanding food. The main courses at about $24 each and two fairly expensive glasses of wine helped bring that total up - but we shared both the salad and dessert.
Would I come again? Yes - but we would probably come for lunch with the hopes that the prices would be a little lower.

Another fine experience
Food and service were again very good at Stellina. Water glasses were refilled repeatedly. We wanted to share a salad (delicious!) and it came out in bowl with serving utensils and 2 plates for easy dividing. I needed to send my salmon back to kitchen to be cooked longer. I'd forgotten to tell server that I wanted it to flake and to be nearly opaque. It's become common, it seems, for fish to be cooked to what I would consider a "medium rare" degree. I wish that servers would so advise and I regret that I don't always remember state my preference. This having been said, staff was apologetic and got fish cooked to my approval very quickly.

Pt. Reyes Station Gem
Great food! A fun energetic clientele. Waiters have great energy! A high quality evening in an eclectic area. These guys work very hard at being the best in area.

Great as always
In addition to the food being presented well, it is local and always tasty. The staff is attentive and you can tell they work well as a team. The space is well lit with interesting art and a good vibe permeates the place.

Saturday evening dinner
Fresh food, interestingly prepared. Portions are generous.
Staff is friendly and efficient; they provided 2plates when we requested to share an entree.
Great by-the-glass wine selection.

Little gem in Point Reyes Station
This is my second dinner at Stellina. We met some friends after a day riding horses at the park. We were casually dressed but well received. The service from the minute we entered the door was excellent. There was quite a lot of variety on the menu so each couple ordered three courses and shared each delicious course. There was not a loser in the meal. Especially delightful was a marrow bone appetizer, something that my grandmother used to serve but I've never seen on a restaurant menu. And of course, fresh oysters from Drakes Bay. Can't wait to come back when visiting the National Seashore.

Great find in Point Reyes
We had the Oyster pizza and homemade Bucatini pasta dish with clams. Both were excellent and paired well with the house white wine.

Such warm customer service, personal attention by every server, great food served hot from the kitchen, samplings of a few wines before we made our decision, etc. This is probably our fourth time over a couple of years and it just gets better. Love all the local purveyors used on the menu.

Local ingredients, inventive cuisine. Go for the water buffalo gelato! A bit pricey for Point Reyes Station.

Stellina is our go to place in west marin. Solid food, great service and surprisingly great for kids. We have never been disappointed.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
best place in the area
If you find yourself in need of a trip out of town, go to Osteria Stellina in Pt. Reyes. You won't be sorry. Excellent , imaginative, seasonal changes and fun.
10/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Osteria is in the lovely town of Point Reyes Station, north of San Francisco. Ambience was acceptable, as was service. Not sure I would recommend a trip up or over from anywhere to visit, though. If you're in the area, definitely! My salad was very good, the cheese plate marginal. My wife had the clams which she described as excellent. Wine list was nice. Dessert very good. Overall a pleasant experience.
10/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
We love Osteria Stellina and make sure to dine there whenever we're in Pt. Reyes. It's the perfect place to enjoy a scrumptuous meal and feel a bit pampered after a wonderful day at the beach, or on a hike. The food has never let us down, the wonderful server makes us feel welcome each time, and our son is treated like a cherished guest, too. We'll be back again the next time we find ourselves on the Marin coast.

Just the right touch
We met friends for dinner. We were able to enjoy our conversation. Never felt rushed by the friendly wait staff. Lingered over tea and were there 2 hours.
Appreciated the fact we could tweak the entrees to accommodate the vegans in the group. Salmon and chicken done to perfection for the omnivores.
House salad and beans and greens among the favorites.
Italians among us appreciated the correct spellings.

Always yummy and fresh...
Stellina delivers every time. The food is fresh and locally sourced. Italian, with a Cali-Locavore flare. Great pizzas, pastas and salads, and a small but very thoughtful wine list. GO!
10/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
Loved everything about this place. Though the dessert was underwhelming (we got the ice cream sandwich)
10/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
We enjoyed the experience very much. We were late for our reservation, but the table was ready and saved for us, even though the place was full of diners. That kind of service was really impressive.
Our guests from Washington DC loved the food, especially the pizza with the fontina cheese!
I was not crazy about the oyster pizza. i was expecting more traditional sauce or some cheese.

West Marin Italian Osteria
The food was fresh, well prepared, well presented & delicious. Italian & local wines were featured as well as two local beers available on tap. We were happy to find authentic Italian cuisine & hospitality in Western Marin.

not as fantastic as I remembered
We ate at Stellina once a few years ago and I thought it was incredibly good. This time it was quite good but didn't quite live up to my memory of it. The room was very noisy and clattery. We had citrus marinated olives, a mixed green salad with radishes and red wine vinaigrette, a penne pasta dish, and salmon over lentils with cauliflower, and a sandwich of chocolate chip cookies and vanilla ice cream. Everything was delicious with fresh and lovely ingredients and beautifully prepared but I found a slight fault with most things...salad a little too sour, pasta a little too salty, cookies too crisp for sandwich and overly sweet. Still, overall a fine dining experience.
