Will be going back
This was our first time at Ripple and we brought a good friend visiting from NYC. The food was excellent and the service was even better - Hallie was one of the best waitpersons I've ever encountered. We'll definitely return.

Great food, wine and service!
Very welcoming neighborhood restaurant with lovely decor and excellent food and service. Seasonal ingredients are sourced from local farms (listed on menu) and the medium sized dishes are perfect for sharing. The charred octopus was my favorite and quite delicious.

Even better the second time
The way the menu is organized allows one to have a light dinner or a rather robust full meal. Our choices were delicious and included an absolutely wonderful spice-roasted beets with smoked egg salad, prosciutto di parma, and spinach tortellini. After that the more hungry friends were very happy with the Berkshire pork chop and the New York strip steak. And please, try the homemade ice cream. The service was excellent and our waiter was very helpful with the very extensive and somewhat intimidating wine list.

Would not have thought to go to Ripple even though it is nearby home. But we will definitely go back soon.

kids and oysters
Our party included two young boys. They ordered off the grill cheese bar [with very good advice from the wait-person] & loved it.
We had a very good time. If I gave only 4 stars for the food [I think the first time I haven't given Ripple a 5], it was because of my own appetizer: mizo coated oysters. Tasty but incredibly small & terribly precious even by appetizer terms.
The rest of the dinner was up to the excellent standard Ripple has set & I expect these oysters were just an anomaly.

We got put in a semi-private room by the front with just one other table - the server was good, and they seemed to take a team approach - all very friendly. The combinations of food were interesting, and the flavors were rich. The $35 early bird menu is a great deal. The dessert was amazing - I had a chocolate trifle kind of dish with cherries and a crunch.
8/10/2013 5:00:00 PM
The Chef's tasting menu was exquisite. Well apportioned, each course left me ready for more. The carrot cavatelli with lobster and wild mushrooms is one of the best plates I've had in a long while.

A quiet night in August, a great dinner, we hadn't been here since the new chef started and it is still great, love the new cocktails and the menu choices were good. Still small portions which we find perfect...not for folks with really big appetites. Wonderful wait staff.

Ripple always offers fabulous
Ripple always offers fabulous food and great service. Although sometimes it is noisy, it wasn't last night. Of course, we were in the front room which is a treat. Don't miss the chef's hand-made pasta. It's always a treat.

Terrific Early Evening Dinner
We had an early evening dinner following a theater performance. The eary-bird specials were a good value; the food was uniformly excellent. The wine and beer list were both extensive and unusual. Many interesting wines were available by the glass as well. The service was outstanding. The place is pretty, and when we were there relatively quiet -- I imagine it can get noisy later in the evening when the bar is full and more of the tables are occupied. Highly recommended.
8/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was delicious. Server was attentive. New have in Cleveland Park. Their homemade ice-cream is out of this world. The goat cheese berry ice cream was like a hidden gem, the goat cheese flavor slowly ascending at the end until it exploded in your fast buds. Excellent!!!!!

Had a wonderful evening at Ripple. The service was attentive and the staff readily moved us to a more preferable table. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The wine list was complete and creative. The food was all delicious with no exceptions. Would highly recommend Ripple for an enjoyable dining experience.

Though I find their dinner options a bit fussy for my taste since I am a picky, non-adventurous eater, I loved their brunch menu and food. It was varied and delicious. The fresh squeezed juice was so flavorful. And their pastries are, quite simply, amazing. They absolutely have one of the best pastry chefs around.(Their desserts are amazing too!)
8/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
An incredible meal
Dinner at Ripple is better than ever. Service is among the top in the city and all the staff are beyond friendly. Lobster cavatelli and any of their gnocchi dishes are unbelievable, as are many of the chef's dishes in a fresh-as-can-be farm menu. And the wine list here offers amazing selection of hard to find labels - many of which are priced very fairly compared to the city's top restaurants.
8/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good food, a bid pricy
Great European style cuisine, but a bid pricy as waiters, for example, push hard for expensive wines.

Excellent meal for foodies!
I've been to Ripple several times and wanted to try their new chef. I went with a group of women who know and love food, and this was the best meal I've had there yet. Everything was fresh, flavorful, interesting and delicious. The service was also outstanding, food was served hot, water was refilled, great advice was doled out. Our favorite dish may have been the carrot cavatelli with lobster, but everything was fantastic. With Ripple, Palena and Indique in Cleveland Park, we don't need to go downtown to have a fantastic meal in DC.

Fantastic wine list (I love
Fantastic wine list (I love my OR Pinot Noirs), great beer list, outstanding service (our waiter was amazing with his knowledge of everything on the menus!), delectable food, and fabulous cheese/charcuterie menu. I cannot wait to go back.

I'm so happy I live near it
It is a great find, with interesting dishes, and a chef that experiments. Almost everything is successful. bravo

Amazing brunch for the price!
Amazing brunch for the price! Great drinks and pastries. Coffee pourer kind of hovered, which I didn't need, but my coffee cup was always full!
8/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Had a lovely celebration dinner at this Cleveland Park gem! I'd never been before and was really impressed. Lovely, fun ambiance. Great service from the beautiful and brilliant Lucy. And the food was very, very good. From my Gnocchi with Lamb Ragu... to my Muscovy Duck Breast, to my Pannacotta... everything was very TASTY. My friends and I all enjoyed everything about this place. The menu is nicely varied. The wine list filled with many interesting offerings. The entire staff friendly & warm. I will be going back. Perhaps I'll see you there!
8/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good concept... Great Service
I felt the kitchen is doing some really good things with the concept of the seasonal/local menu. Service though was the highlight. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about all wines as well as the food. We will have to come again soon.
8/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food without being pretentious. Scallops were out of this world, gnocchi was amazing, the octopus was superb, and the eggplant was one of the surprise favorites on the table. Must have dessert- the butterscotch pudding is to die for and the chocolate chip cookies were better than homemade!

Great DC Restaurant
We took a mini vacation in DC and were very excited to try Ripple. The food and service didn't disappoint. The porkchop portion was HUGE and unfortunately our hotel room didn't have a fridge, so we cried a little at having to leave it behind. The dessert was great and the cornbread was awesome. Servers were very knowledgeable about the menu and food generally. If we visit DC again, we will definitely head to Ripple again!
9/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very impressive experience from start to finish. Charcuterie and cheese offerings were particularly excellent. Appetizers and desserts were top class. Main course arrived lukewarm; this was handled graciously and the problem was corrected promptly. Very creative chef. Fantastic wines by the glass. Cellar seems extensive and interesting - will be coming back in the future and will order a bottle or two. Only downside is that parking is tough, unfortunately.

They made my birthday special!
My mom had called the restaurant secretly to tell them it was my birthday. The restaurant gave me a menu that said "Happy Birthday", which was a sweet touch. Several of the staff came over to wish me a happy birthday. When my mom had also asked if they would bake me a small cake, the pastry chef, Alison, came through and made me a delicious peanut butter and chocolate cake. The food is amazing, but the fact that they went out of their way to make my day even more special is why I will continue to come back.

Best Restaurant in Cleveland Park
We tried Ripple Sunday night and were so impressed we came back on Tuesday. The menu is interesting, with local and seasonal dishes, and everything was prepared to perfection. Over the two nights, everything we had, the bread, salads, appetizers, meat and fish were all delicious. Staff was friendly and knowledgable, and genuinely cared. I tried a local beer, that while very good was not quite what I expected, and next thing you know we were engaged in a discussion about different brewing techniques and making recommendations for our next beer.
Most of the restaurants I've tried in Cleveland Park have disappointed, but Ripple was a very pleasant surprise. We will be back often.

We were in town for a weekend
We were in town for a weekend and were looking for a nice, local and sustainable restaurant. We liked ripple. The food was very good especially the combination of flavours. there weren't many vegetarian or pesketarian options but i alsed for a dish to be changed and that was fine. The ambience of the restaurant was also great.
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
The people at Ripple are great. Attentive and informed servers. Very friendly hosts. Helpful bartender. The food was very good. Not phenomenal but really good. The free desserts at the end were terrible. They should just give out chocolates and leave it at that. They don't want the last bite they leave a customer with to be terrible. The last thing I would say is that they can dim the lights. It's too bright for dinner.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
Ripple is consistently outstanding
Don't tell anyone. There is a restaurant in Washington DC with great service and incredible food. Staff is gracious and well informed, even charming - as if they enjoy making people happy with food and drink. I go there whenever I really want to show someone a relaxed and delicious good time. Thought I was getting special treatment, but then I could see they are nice to everyone.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
talent in the kitchen
As is so often the case in dc, one finds the best food in unsung places. We had the tasting menu and were blown away by the exciting and delicious plates that were served. I'll take this over any of the 4 star WaPo venues and save a few coins in the process.
9/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
I didn't know Ripple had brunch really...with bottomless mimosas, none-the-less!
I went for a get together with 3 friends; the food was delicious, and the service was great :)
9/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicious, always surprising
Anither excellent, innovative meal. Menu very well constructed--allows tasting or full meal. Veal sweetbreads, cranberry bean soup, and gnocchi w lamb ragout all standouts. Interesting wines. Server is the first who's fallen a little short of expectations

Fabulous Dinner Experience
My girlfriend and I recently dined at Ripple for dinner - overall it was a fabulous dining experience! Our waiter was knowledgeable and knew exactly when to engage us. His wine recommendation was also perfect. We started with a cheese board and let the staff select the cheese - great decision. We then moved to entrees - I had the seared tuna while my girlfriend had the new york strip - both were cooked to perfection. We finished with the peanut butter and jelly ice cream sandwiches, a real treat. All in all, it was the best dining experience we've had in the district - the food was just perfect.

Deserving of the good reviews
This was the first time we dined here after hearing it recommended. It lived up to expectations. The staff was very well trained and attentive without being bothersome. The menu was truly original.

Food From a Different World
I recently returned from a Mediterranean deployment and wondered how I would judge those countries' cuisines back in the States. Ripple had an amazing selection of wine, including wineries that I sampled in Naples, fantastic meat and cheese (the prosciutto was especially of note), and a great dish of gnocchi for an appetizer. For our entrees, we had the New York Strip and the tuna. The steak was cooked to medium-rare perfection, tender and delicious, topped off with chimichurri sauce and coupled with great mashed potatoes. The tuna was thick and seared in a way I've never tried before, and had a peculiar set of vegetables that complimented it perfectly. Overall, everything was amazing with perfect portion sizes and reasonably priced!

Hidden Gem in Cleveland Park
Friends told us about Ripple, gushing about how great it was. We went with friends on a weeknight and it was busy. Everything we ordered was superb and the place has an impressive, if a bit pricey, wine list with selections from around the world. The gent who pored the wine was very knowledgeable about the selections. The service was attentive without hovering. The atmosphere is energetic and noisy, so maybe not the best place for a romantic date. We will definitely return.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
super service, great drinks!
A friend and I chose Ripple for a girls' Friday evening out. We got there early (around 6:00), which was a good thing because not long after 7:00 the place was packed! Our server was very attentive and well versed in the menu, including the sometimes enigmatic (and very trendy) cocktail ingredients. Their selection of wines by the glass is VERY impressive. We sampled a lot of small plates, all of which were good.

Cleveland Park gem
We really liked the food, the service was excellent, and, best of all for having a conversation with our visiting guests, there is a lovely dining area in the back that is quiet. We were very grateful that the host asked us if we were looking for a more quiet spot, as this is a very busy, noisy hot spot kind of restaurant. Their specialty cocktails are fabulous, really liked the peppery, mezcal one.
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
We eat here regularly, and we are always pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful cooking. The use of ingredients is creative, but always in service of the overal flavors, and in support of what the chef tries to accomplish. We are always pleasantly surprised by how much this restaurant cares about what it puts in front of its guests. I need more time to try all the cheeses and meats.
10/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food and Service Were Awesome
I set a reservation for my girlfriend's brithday and made a special request to have a single rose put on the table before we arrived. Not only was the rose in a vase on the table, but multiple waiters came over to wish my girlfriend a happy brithday, the menus were created specifically to say Happy Birthday across the top, we were given glasses of champagne on the house, and the dessert at the conclusion of the meal came with the standard candle. Mind you all I requested was the rose. The fact that the folks at Ripple went out of their way to make sure my girlfrind's night was perfect really speaks volumes about the establishment and the quality of the people that work there. We will definitely be going back soon.

One of DC's Best
Ripple is a great value restaurant in DC. Not cheap, but certainly worth every penny. Great wine list with some real by the bottle deals. By the glass list is nice and varied, but pricey to the point of making bottles a better option. Entree portions are not that big so I would suggest a starter before your meal. Host staff were very friendly and accommodating. My only nit pick was an impatient server. I understand it was a busy Friday night, but I would like some time to go through the menu before I give an order. I also enjoy pairing wine with my meal, so having a server tell me ordering food before wine is " doing it backwards" kind of irked me. I drink wine to enhance food and vice versa; I could have done without her remark.
10/24/2013 5:00:00 PM
This was our third time to Ripple for a birthday celebration. The menu is concise but innovative. The cheese and charcuterie selections are outstanding, my negroni was delicious, there's a great selection of Rhone wines by the glass, and both our meals were perfect. Highly recommend the bacon roasted pecans and the fried brussel sprouts! I really can't say enough good things about this restaurant, except that I wish we came here more often.

Nice seasonal meal
We recently moved to Cleveland Park and finally had a chance to check out Ripple. It was a very nice meal with lots of seasonal ingredients. The food was seasoned well and the wine list was quite nice. Our server was very attentive and had good suggestions for us for both wine and food choices. Definitely a great neighborhood spot!

Seasonal Food Done Right
Ripple's menu changes constantly depending on seasonal availability. I had the Berkshire pork chop and the woman had the Amish chicken. Both were spectacularly prepared (mine with spatzel and hers with artichoke and vegetables). Definitely get the bacon-smoked pecans to snack on (it's like eating a campfire covered in bacon) and the charcuterie is second-to-none. Wine list is large and heavy on organics and biodynamics (if you're into that sort of thing--which I'm not) in addition to Old World classics. You can't go wrong with this place.
11/5/2013 4:00:00 PM
My first time there. It was very good and the service was prompt and friendly without hovering.
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
delicious, locavore, not cheap
Ripple features creative gourmet cooking, done right. Beautifully prepared and presented, delicious to eat, friendly servers. Creative (aka sunchoke soup with raisins and pickled cauliflower). Has never disappointed. We love it. But a bit pricey for our income level, so only for special occasions.
11/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
My supper club visited Ripple for its second time last week. Similarly to the first visit, we had a great time. The meal selection is always creative and seasonal. Among the small plates, the kale salad and sweatbreads were hits at the table, and all of the entrees that were ordered were outstanding (NY Strip Steak, Lamb, Beef Cheeks, and Pampano). The server checked often to make sure things were as we expected, and to keep our wine and water glasses full. All of us had a very positive experience at Ripple and will be back again.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Finally tried it
I finally tried Ripple, 3 years after we all buzzed about its arrival in Cleveland Park. On an early Sunday evening it was quiet but ready for all comers. As it filled up the noise level never got too high and the servers stayed attentive. The wine pours are generous and the food was very tasty. The vegetarian entree was imaginative and satisfying.
