This place is only a block
This place is only a block from my office and a frequent lunch spot for me. I love their tiny pork tacos and their fabulous by-the-glass wine list. It's crowded and friendly downstairs - a little more subdued upstairs.

Superb wine . . two uninteresting deviled eggs (four half-eggs) for eleven dollars ($11) seemed like a great deal of money.

Allways nice to visit Morrells for a good meal and some great wines when in New York!

The wine bar experience was
The wine bar experience was excellent with some great wines at fair prices. We were able to try a somewhat difficult to find Etna Rosso and go next door to the store and buy it at a discount. Staff is well-informed and friendly. Regarding the food, while a bit pricey, the pork ragu with pappardelle was excellent. All components came together perfectly. The mushroom risotto however was uninspiring. (The proper making of risotto seems to be a lost art.) It was little more than under cooked rice that had absorbed little of the liquid. And the liquid which had been billed as a burgundy seemed to be missing the wine. The mushrooms were good but the truffles lacked the characteristic flavor. Disappointing but definitely would try again.

Want a great brunch? Go here. No crowds on Sunday, great food, best wine list by the glass in the city! When we first went here years ago, we were concerned it was a tourist trap because it's at Rockefeller Center. Nothing could be farther from the truth. If you like wine and great food, give this place a shot. Sit at the bar if it's crowded and do the people watching thing while you drink Opus by the glass. Actually, try something a little less well known but equally satisfying. this place will surprise you: it surprised us.

Don't lose the opportunity to dine outside in this great weather we are enjoying!

Perfect date spot. Delicious food, friendly wait staff and an amazing variety of wine

we had to change the time
we had to change the time of our reservation and the hostess was very accomodating over the phone and advised that we could arrive within a 30 min. window and not have any issue being seated. upon arrival, we had to wait 15 min. for our table which, with business guests, was an unfortunate experience. the service overall was good and speedy--just an unfortunate way to start off a meal.

This is always on our list of must-visit restaurants for lunch when we visit NYC!

Wine bar with good food
Even though my wife and wine went to Morell Wine Bar for some wine, we tried some food too. We very much liked it, which a pleasant surprise and surely a good match for wine.

We always stop at Morrell's
We always stop at Morrell's when we're in NYC and are never disappointed. Frank is a great waiter, and his service is impeccable. Only wish that when you decline sparkling water they would offer "tap" instead of pouring their $7 Fugi !

NiceLunch before the 2 o'clock show
Food was good - had the salmon with chive cream cheese and red onion on a 7 grain roll, nice champagne selection, waiter was very accommodating and friendly.

lunch while shopping
While shopping at Saks, Metropolitan Museum store, Faconnable, Legoland etc. this is the perfect place for a quick bite of well prepared food. A touch crowded and noisy but overall wonderful. We have dined there once a year for three years. We no longer drink wine but when we did the choices were extensive and fun.

I enjoyed a lovely salmon
I enjoyed a lovely salmon curry style paired with Merry Edwards Russian River Sauvignon Blanc.

Excellent pre-show lunch
A perfect place to stop for lunch on the way to a Broadway matinee. Sat at the bar, looking out at the Rockefeller Center and people watching. Great wines by the glass. Papardelle with mushrooms, and kale sale with pumpkin were excellent!

I am enamored!!
An absolutely delightful place! Great people, great food, great location! Most restaurants with such an excellent view and location have a tendency to not try too hard but these folks are on their game! Outstanding food, service and ambiance.

Indoors for the first time
Having eaten outside or stood at the bar at the front window, we were reluctant to sit inside. If you get the table we had ( for 4 or 5) in a round booth in the rear right on the main floor, you will be happy. The view facing forward out to Rock Center is lovely; wall murals, art and view of outdoors....very unique.
Nice service and unremarkable but very good food of all types from pasta and risotto to chicken and fish.

Lovely pre-theatre venue
My 20-something daughter and I met for a bite before a show and it was perfect: small plates, a nice glass of wine, and quiet table for two allowing conversation. I would recommend this place!

Yummy but slow service
The food was DELICIOUS. Waiters appeared to take turns waiting on the same table and were often standing on the side. They neglected to see if I wanted more water three times when my glass was empty. The meal for two was extended bc they were not attentive to our table but the food was so good that I'd go back for it

We went to NYC for the day
We went to NYC for the day and ended up making reservations at Morrells for an early dinner (4:30 pm) and it was perfect. The sun had set and you can see the Christmas tree through their picture window. If you were to dine there on a nice evening, you could dine on the patio and people wath people at 40 Rock. The wine list was superb, the service staff was very attentive and the food was scrumous (sp). The bar scene was crowed and very energetic. It appeared to be mostly a middle aged singles scene. However, it was never noisy, as we sat in the dining room. A great New York experience! I would recommend it.

Wonderful Way to Add to NYC Day
For more than a decade, my friend and I have been lunching at Morrell's once a year when we travel to New York City for a shopping day in December. We continue to relish the wonderful food and wine and look forward to returning annually. We have never been disappointed with anything we have ordered. The food is always fabulous, but this year may even have exceeded others. The hanger steak salad is delicious. This year my friend enjoyed the squash soup and pulled pork tacos. I am a crab lover and would highly recommend the crab crostini at Morell's. And, of course, topping it off with chocolate truffles for dessert fortifies us to continue on with our shopping adventures.

Two for two in December
This is the second time I've booked Morrell on the way to the Tree in Rockefeller center. Nothing like eating several delicious appetizers, enjoying a bottle of red, sampling delicious, finely prepared entrees, and dabbling in a waiter-recommended butterscotch pudding.
The only words of caution are: the place isn't huge, so seating is a little tighter than what you might prefer. Not in-each-other's laps tight. There was a loud table of females which I lovingly referred to as "squawking crows", and the sound definitely reverberates in this place. Those aside, I would wholly recommend this place, and I thinks it's the best choice price wise and proximity to Rockefeller Center. Spent 150 and tried pretty hard, $40 bottle of wine included.

Great food with great wine
Small menu but you can't go wrong. Reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. Wine list was extensive but the sommelier was very helpful and allowed us to taste multiple wines before we decided on a bottle. Excellent service and comfortable seating. Definitely coming back!

Cozy vibrant wine bar and cafe
I went to Morrell to celebrate the holidays with a colleague. We were a bit early but we had reservationas and the hostess seated us since we frezzing from enjoying the Rockefeller tree and store lights around Rockefeller Center. I had the hot Morrell muddled spice wine and for my entree the delicious cod. My colleague had the chicken and that too was delicious. We sat upstairs at this cozy establishment and could hear and see the vibrant and energetic crowd at the bar. Threre are chairs outside that is utilized in warmer weather. I would definately go back. Great service.
