Incredible Naan Sandwich for Lunch
Indian like you have never had. We had lunch and they served us naan sandwichs... I know it sounds wierd, just have a taste and you will see what I am talking about!

We had a very enjoyable time
We had a very enjoyable time except that the service was quite slow. The waiter was very pleasant and helpful.

Very good food, but the service
Very good food, but the service staff are what shine in this restaurant. Our waitress was one of the most knowledgeable and friendly servers we've experienced in decades of fine dining. We even commented that she should have her own restaurant.

Nice dining environment and
Nice dining environment and courteous wait staff. Food is good to outstanding but one should be aware that some of their menus could be very hot(spicey hot that is.) The menu does not indicate which ones are mild and which ones are not. I will not order Biriany because it was not what I expected it to be being an Indian person who loves biryani. But, over all, its a fine dining experience although a bit pricey.

As good as Saffron!!!
Raaga was great. Every bit as good as when it was Saffron.
Food and service were outstanding. My only complaint was the uncontrolled young kids running around and making far too much noise for a fine dining experience. Of course this is not the restaurants fault which is why I still give it a great rating.

Amazing vegetarian dishes.
Amazing vegetarian dished. I am not even a vegetarian and all I seem to eat are the vegetarian dishes when I am at Raaga.

Indian dining to a whole new level!
This place takes the indian dining experience to a whole new level. Try any of the traditional indian dished and you will be blown away. Try some of the more fusion dishes and you will crave the place.

The best Butter Chicken you
The best Butter Chicken you will ever have, period. If you haven't tries this place you must. Ask for one of the booths in the back, very romantic/private.

The chicken in my dish was
The chicken in my dish was a bit dry but the sauce was fantastic - lamb, scallops, bread, samosas all terrific.

Everytime we've been there
Everytime we've been there the service and food is outstanding! Each dish has its own unique flavor. Highly recommend this restaurant!!

Raaga surpasses Saffron
Loved this place when it was Saffron, so I was a little nervous that Raaga wouldn't live up to my expectations, but it exceeded them! They have very unique and delicious signature drinks and the food....there aren't words. This is the best Indian restaurant in the triangle and I can't wait to go back and try other dishes!

Outstanding Indian food, many
Outstanding Indian food, many entrees and dishes not found elsewhere. Almost all done and presented to perfection. The two soups on the menu are a disappointment and should be avoided. Excellent bar and their special cocktails are worthwhile if you like that kind of thing.

The food was incredible! I
The food was incredible! I usually don't order a cocktail, but did and was so glad. The Bollywood Lights was top 2 best cocktail ever!!!

Wonderful staff and spectacular foo
We had arrived at the restaurant at 11.30 am since we had made an online reservation for that time, only to see that the restaurant actually doesn't open till noon. However, the staff called us and made special accommodations for us to be able to dine even though they were not open yet. Food as always is spectacular.

They call it Murge K Parche. Wow!
You have to try this strange concoction Raaga has created for lunch - some kind of an indian sandwich to die for. They call it Murge K Parche - it's like a naan indian chicken sandwich. Wow! Thanks you for whatever this is - I love it.

We had a marvelous experience,
We had a marvelous experience, starting with our server, who was great and suggested that we were ordering too much (how rare!). She was right about that, as well as about recommending one of the two appetizers we were considering (banana pepper). That dish and one of the two main courses we ordered (eggplant) were fabulous; the fish main we ordered was fine but not to write home about.

Great food and service. Fun
Great food and service. Fun & creative cocktails. It is nice having the "small plate" option. A small plate was plenty for me for dinner.
4/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
Food was great. However,
Food was great. However, we ordered drinks before dinner and wine with our dinner and the wine came out before the drinks. This was unusual and if I knew this I would not have ordered a drink. Also, the table had crumbs on it after the dinner was over and we felt the table should have been cleaned first before we ordered dessert.

Some of the best in the triangle. When saffron split, this is where the cookin talent went

We had a family dinner at Raaga for Mother's Day and our experience was exceptional. The food and drinks were top notch. For drinks we had the Bollywood Lights and the Early Indian Summer to start. The wine list was also reasonable with a good selection. The pappadums and and naan were remarkable alongside the appetizers. Entrees were reasonably priced and quite flavorful. Both lentil dishes were outstanding. The vegan coconut ice cream however was insanely good. I would highly recommend this to our friends. Good for out of towners and Indian food experts as well.

Continues To Satisfy - 5 Stars!!!!!
Each time I go I seem to find something else I fall in love with. I rarely venture beyond my favorite dish at a restaurant. I urge you to go places you might not on this menu. Raaga continues to satisfy!

Awesome Staff and Delicious Food
The folks at Raaga (formerly Saffron of Chapel Hill) are amazing. It's the same owners and chef as before, just with some re-branding and slight tweaks to the menu. The food is the best you can find in the triangle, and everything I've had over the years has been absolutely delicious.

A distinctive Indian restaurant
The menu is distinctive and not the standard Indian restaurant fare. The chef has added unique twists to the traditional menu to make it unique and flavorful. This is my best Indian restaurant experience thus far and I have been to Indian restaurants in New York, Washington, San Francisco, London, Montreal & Toronto.
Simply the best!

Lovely and Delicious
I had heard about this place but hadn't had a chance to go until last weekend. My dinner partner is vegan and gluten intolerant and they had a vegan menu ready upon arrival plus they provided options for items on the main menu that could be modified to meet his dietary restrictions. My partner asked for something specific that wasn't on the menu and they accommodated his request...that was amazing and very nice of them. My meal was great but it wasn't nearly as spicy as they said it would be. I felt that they understood my needs and were being proactive.
The cocktail list was also fun, I had a mango mojito. The wait staff was professional, accommodating and very nice! I plan to go back again!

The food was really delicious, even though we had to send it back for a "heat" adjustment. It's funny how Indian restaurants are scared to send out "Indian hot" to Americans. After all was said and done, the food was really great. The actual bartender and waitress were amazing. There were a few times that we were left waiting for beer or water refills, but overall the service was fine. The seating was a bit close for our liking, and there were other tables that would have been a better fit but they had most everyone crammed on a long wall. Otherwise, we'll be back!
6/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was absolutely amazing! It was tasty and full of flavor.

Went to Raaga for Restaurant
Went to Raaga for Restaurant Week, and the food did not disappoint. By far the best Indian food in the area, and very different atmosphere than anywhere else around- you definitely don't feel like you're in Chapel Hill once you walk inside! Also a superb option for a group with a lot of vegetarians or vegans as their menu is full of such items that are just as good (if not better!) than the chicken and lamb options. Have been going to Raaga since it opened and will definitely keep going back for more!
6/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
First time at Raaga, and we'd definitely go back. Fried okra was a surprise, but crab cakes disappointed slightly. Spinach with paneer excellent, as we're the scallops. Ala in all, a great dining experience.

You will not find better, anywhere!
I keep finding myself coming back to this place over and over. The inventiveness, ambiance and presentation are more reminiscent of a New York City lounge than your typical indian restaurant. I love this place. And find the food to be consistently on my top 10 of all time. You are going to love this place.

Great Food and Decor...Always Quiet
We love Raaga and the food and service are always great, but it never really seems busy. This is a perfect place for a romantic evening, but by no means is this a place to experience the nightlife of Chapel Hill.
8/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great new (to us) Indian restaurant
We especially enjoyed the fish and seafood dishes which you don't normally find at Indian restaurants. The fish was excellent and the scallops were cooked just right. The vegetarian selections were also interesting. We loved the julienned okra appetizer. Please keep it on the menu!

Best Indian in Chapel Hill/Durham
This is the best Indian food we have found in Chapel Hill and Durham. Food was so wonderful, service was excellent and good portion sizes. Will definitely be back.

As an American family who has traveled all over India, we have been looking for an authentic Indian restaurant.
We found it in Raaga! Delicious choices, beautiful restaurant and just like the best food we enjoyed in India.
Don't let the strip mall location fool you. This is a gem fit for a Raj.

Great Indian Food After the Game
The Restaurant is accommodating and the food is fresh and creative. I wish the wine list was as creative. It pushes you to chose the beer, which is also great with Indian Food. Portion sizes are large. Come hungry!

Great Food and Ambiance
My husband and I love the food at Raaga. The okra appetizers and crab masala are delicious. The lamb shank and tandoori chicken are fsbulous. Our server, Brian was attentive. I highly recommend the restaurant!

Best Indian meals we've ever had!!!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place!!! We could not wait to get back to Saffron (now Raaga) when we were visiting Chapel Hill! When we arrived, we noticed the name had changed, but it was still the best Indian restaurant we've ever been to! The food is incredible! Service was outstanding and the ambiance is awesome in this trendy restaurant. Wish so much we could relocate Raaga to our hometown! Highly recommend to anyone looking for an excellent dining experience/date night/fun, group dinner!

Really good Indian
We've been going to this place since it was called 'Saffron.' Same excellent food, slightly nicer decor. This time, we shared two appetizers: cauliflower in a chili-garlic sauce and 'chicken 65,' a slightly spicy, gingery special that night. For entrées, we went all lamb: lamb chops and lamb shank. Both were amazing. Server was friendly and knowledgeable. She recommended excellent wine pairs for each course and took good care of us throughout the meal. Sizzling platter that neighboring table ordered smelled delicious; wish we could have eaten more!

Trendy Raaga Indian Restaurant
I recently dined at Raaga and had an amazing experience. The ambience and decorations really make you feel like you are dining at an authentic indian restaurant. I've eaten at many Indian restaurants in the area before and would say the food at Raaga exceeded expectations. The staff was very friendly and well versed with the menu. They were able to recommend good dishes for you and your guest. Raaga has a great selection of drinks and food items whether you are vegetarian or non vegetarian. Overall I had a great time and would recommend all of my friends to check it out. I had hot garlic naan and malai kofta and it was very delicious. The new name Raaga is very appealing to me. It's trendy and modern. It is a unique name.
