Small restaurant with nice
Small restaurant with nice ambiance and awesome contemporary Indian food. Definitely very different from typical Indian restaurants with buffets. We went for dinning on eve of my wife's birthday. Service was outstanding and our server helped us with her suggestions. We love spicy food. We ordered Kama Vindaloo as one of the dishes and as mentioned on the menu it was really HOT!! I enjoyed every bite of it. Caution: Be sure to check your comfortable spice level before ordering this dish. Malai kofta was also good. We also ordered Nan, Kulcha and Lachha Paratha to try each of the bread. This was the ONLY disappointment I would say as it didn't gave a feeling of an authentic Indian bread. Overall a must try dining option.

1st but not last Indian diners
My wife & I had never tried Indian cuisine before so we were totally dependent on our waiter. We were not disappointed. He recommended the Tandoori Platter for an entree. Great choice! The chicken, lamb & seafood were all so different and delightful. Next to us was an English couple who are permanent residents in the U.S. & who have been here numerous times. After eating here, we can certainly understand why. If you've never had Indian, like us, or if you're a veteran, you will love Kama.

The owners are so warm and friendly and so appreciative of repeat business. We always have a wonderful meal, ingredients are fresh and well prepared, complex and satisfying. Very consistant. We are excited they may move to a larger location, making it easier for larger group dining.

Best Indian around
Interesting place with great Indian and Indian fusion food. Everything appears freshly and lovingly made. My husband enjoyed his saag paneer and thought it was the best he has had anywhere. My son tried pakora for the first time and love to dip them in the sauces provided. I had the Goan fish curry- well spiced and cooked. This place is a winner!

Fantastic. Best indian Food
Fantastic. Best indian Food we have eaten in the state since leaving the UK. Loved it, spicy enough. Great atmosphere. Wish we had found it sooner. The reviews were what pointed me in this direction.

We have been to Kama many times and it is always amazing. We find ourselves purposely not eating as much so we have leftovers to take home! Sensational flavor, fresh ingredients and great service!

As Good As It Gets
My wife and I come here at least twice a month. Not only is Gluten Free and Vegan option are amazing, but there lamb is top notch. After years of searching for a place with great food and CULTURE, we now have Kama Bistro in our neighboring town. Kama Bistro is taking Indian Food to a whole new level.

Wonderful Indian Bistro
I enjoy the food at Kama very much. I love Indian food in general but Kama Bistro is a bit different. There is a different take on flavors than I have seen in Indian food at other restaurants, which is why I like it. Its nice to eat those flavors but in new and different ways. I highly recommend the sweet potato in tamarind/lime sauce as an appetizer. Everything else I have eaten there has always been good. I have gone and dined strictly on appetizers, like Tapas. Other times with a larger group we each ordered different things and passed it around for all to try. Kama is flexible on the heat of the food. We had friends who cannot eat hot flavored foods and Kama insured the food was mild enough for their stomachs.

The taste of Kama's food is outstanding. The mix of spices in their meals are unbelievably delicious. Andrew, our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable.

Everything about this restaurant was wonderful. The food was fresh and tasty, with creative recipes that were very flavorable. The service was great and our server was able to answer questions about the menu and make good recommendations. The restaurant recently moved locations to a bigger space, and we look forward to going back soon.

Best Indian in Chicago area
Kama Bistro was a pleasant surprise. Delicious food, fresh ingredients delicately prepared. Each dish had its own individual flavor. This is very unlike most Indian restaurants in Chicago area where no matter what you order the sauce is the same. The service at this restaurant is outstanding too. Loved both the veg and non-veg selections.

Loooooove the new space, and the food is just as good! Congrats on making the big move!

Awesome food. Love the new space. Support our "local" non-chain restaurants. Best quality food in town. Kid friendly also. For those picky eaters Nan PB&J.

Ever since our first time there, we've been talking about going back. This time, it was at their new location. Bigger space, larger staff...but still a lot of the same nuances as before. The hostess greeted us with enthusiasm and friendliness. The food was fantastic and our server was great too! Some frustration with the bar, as the server had to come back three times to tell us they were out of the bottle we'd ordered (it's a VERY small wine list--the bartender should have a list at the start of every shift--easy enough, I've worked in the industry before). Very cozy inside, with booths and candles. Might be able to accommodate a big group, too.

Even better than before
We recently ate at the newly relocated Kama Bistro with an out of town guest. Bigger than the original, we found the dining room and bar to be especially welcoming and lovely to look at. The food was great, simply the best Indian food you can get anywhere in these parts. Our hosts Vickram and Agnes were gracious and personable, and we had a simply wonderful evening. You can't go wrong with this gem.

Enjoyed our Dinner
We will be returning. The waitress was very attentive and the food was great. Our local indian restaurant has made some changes and were not too happy with them. Kama might just be our new destination.

The personal touch
It was my 2nd time there, and the waiter (Paul) recognized me right away, even accurately recalling our conversation from the first time. My wife was with me and it was her first sit down experience at an Indian restaurant. Our friends knew the owner, and he came over and helped recommend items from the menu, orchestrating a fantastic meal with all the best of the best, especially for first time or rookie indian food taste buds! Fantastic flavors, and food. The wine was even fantastic. We are so lucky to have such a quality restaurant in our back yard here in La grange!

Great Dining Experience
The food at Kama was fantastic. We started with the Crispy Potatoes, which were awesome. I had the lamb shank and my wife had the spinach masala. The lamb shank was absolutely phenomenal...the meat was cooked perfect and falling off of the bone, while the sauce was perfect. The spinach masala was also delicious, with a little bit of heat. Our server Amanda was very helpful and gave great recommendations.
Also, I love the beer list, as it is an interesting blend of micro brews and imports.

An excellent meal and evening
This was our first time at the restaurant, so we ate fairly basic items-two curry dishes, the seafood sampler, and masala dishes. All were very good, nicely seasoned, and with good portion sizes. Service was impeccable-our server was knowledgeable about the menu, and we never went more than five or six minutes without someone stopping by to check on water, drinks, etc. No problem with the noise level-it was easy to hold a conversation at our table.

Kama Bistro is a great find in La Grange. The restaurant decor is trendy, the staff friendly and efficient. The food is fantastic.

Lamb Taco's good
Place was good but some odd things like ice in a Lassi but flavors were excellent

The food was extremely flavorful. We can't say enough about the taste of each item on the menu. The chef is a master at adding spices to dishes that make the flavor of each food item outstanding.

Great food but...
We have loved Kama Bistro for years. It's always been reliably delicious and had excellent service. The new location is spacious and lovely, and allows for more patrons, but I think that's a problem. They must have been understaffed because we never got refills and the food came out very slowly even though we mentioned we had a show to get to (and we allowed ample time to eat and relax beforehand, that's how slow it was). The chicken, which is normally excellent, was a bit dry, but all the food I tasted was up to the usual par - fantastic! I'm sure once they settle into the new location it will be as amazing as before.

Delicious and accommodating
We had only 75 minutes to eat before dashing to a show at the Theatre of the Western Springs. Our server made sure our food was delivered promptly, checked in with us the right number of times, and brought the check and take-out containers as soon as we asked for them. Food is always delicious at Kama. The Chicken Tikka Masala is wonderful. Serving size is just right for a satisfying dinner and probably with few leftovers or just enough as a side for lunch the next day. I will say that I would like them to serve more rice at once, expecially with a table of 4-5 people who are going to all eat some.
We'll return again.

I love Indian food and a friend recommend this restaurant. IT was fantastic and they don't prepare it "midwest" style ie: sans the spice and flavor! Having moved from south Texas to Illinois i'm continually disappointed that many restaurants have to dumb down there dishes to the "spice sensative" midwest palate. This place remains true to the tastes and spices of the dishes. We tried 3 of the small pates and everyone was wonderful!

Among the best Indian restaurants
Located in a most unlikely location-an affluent, rather homogeneous suburb-Kama was a surprise. The food was excellent. The pakoras were as good as those made at home, as were the chutneys. The entrees were well prepared, seasoned and flavorful, but not overly spicy or greasy, as in most Indian restaurants. We only sampled vegetarian items, so I cannot comment on the non-veg items. The desert was also terrific. We sampled the kulfi, which was fresh and rich, and the ras malai. The paneer in the latter was deliciously fresh and spongy, with just the right texture and sweetness. It was a little heavy in rose-water flavoring, which would probably taste strange to the typical American. Overall, a great find, one we would gladly revisit.

Great Light Indian Food
Kama Bistro in its new space is the same as in its old space, only with more room. Great food. Flavorful. Light fluffy rice. Great spices. GREAT BEER Menu. One of the best Indian restaurants in the region.

Delicious food and good service
We loved our meal at Kama Bistro. The new space is larger, but still feels intimate, and the food is as tasty as ever. The only challenge was the noise level which made it difficult to speak with the person across the table from you.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
As good as it gets.
The subtlety and balance of spices makes Kama's food amazing. The crispy chili potato appetizer is especially delicious: tangy, sweet, and spicy in the most satisfying way. The pickled spices masala (new to me!) was also wonderful: intriguing and fragrant. Excellent range of vegetarian selections. The server was very helpful (especially with the extensive beer list).

Great Indian food & Craft Beer
We have never been disappointed with the dining experience here. Great Indian Food with a great craft beer list. I am vegan---just tell the server and they will modify what needs to be done! Will be back again and again.
