Not all reviews are correct.
I had read some sort of negative reviews about this place but decided to eat here anyway because of the view ( which does not disappoint). All I can say is that some reviewers are just plain wrong. The food was delightful, with a marriage of ingredients you would not expect. This is not your Nonny's kitchen and is not average Italian- American food, although the fried dough dessert could have come from my Nonny's kitchen. Instead, expect delicious combinations of fresh ingredients that surprise the mouth. Our waiter was very knowledgable, attentive and amusing. Eat here if you don't want chain food like Olive Garden.

A great place for Mother's day
I'm a bit late in writing this review. We went to Dante's for mothers day and had a very nice meal. The food and service were excellent as usual. Dante's is our favorite restaurant for special occasions.

Great food!!! with beautiful waterfront views and Boston skyline! Food was wonderful from the small plates including the arancini balls and the meatballs through entrees and then yummy desserts. The salmon entree and the pea tendril raviolis were thoroughly enjoyed. The fried dough balls(profiteroles) with different dipping sauces are a restaurant must!!!

excellent and unique food, especially their small plate. Great service.

This is a nice little hotel
This is a nice little hotel restaurant with an excellent view of the Charles river. The service was quite good, personable, and timely. The cocktail menu is fun offering a play on a personal favorite, the negroni (with prosecco). The gelato is fantastic. It was so good we went back the next night for another scoop.

Dante's in Summer
Dante's never disappoints. The food is creative, well prepared, and delicious. The dining room is lovely, airy, sleek and well appointed. Summer dining on the patio can't be beat with a beautiful view of the Charles River and Boston across the River. I have taken many out of town visitor for dinner and they have always been well fed and very happy. The Sfizi, or little tastes, cannot be beat. Try lots of them and make a meal out of it. Soooo good. The arancini, bruschetta, and meatball sliders are particularly good. It's all good. Love that they offer small bowls of pasta. The house favorite made with Italian sausage and escarole was excellent. Go and enjoy!

Small plate heaven
If you believe that hors d'oeuvres are the perfect meal, Dante is the perfect restaurant. There are plenty of mains on the menu, but the many small plates are what makes this special. From bruschetta to calamari to arancini to mussels.....you get the picture. YUM!

Lovely setting, very good food and nice waitstaff. Bad though if it's too windy. Food and dishes blowing around. They had no solution for that. And the bar crowd got too loud.

Everything we had was delicious
Everything we had was delicious and well made. The arrancini were made differently than I've had before - instead of a marinara sauce, the were finished with a truffled honey - unbelievable flavor combination! Also, the pea raviolis were delicious. We wanted to try some appetizers and share the small portion of raviolis. The kitchen split the dish into two servings for us without us asking. Nice. Drinks, wine, dessert, entree - all contributed to a great night of dining.

Close to MOS
We chose Dante for dinner because it is near the Museum of Science. The Island Creek (Duxbury) oysters for $1.00 each during "happy hour" were great and a real bargain. Appetizers and entrees were all very good as was service.

Great food, great setting
Dante does not disappoint. Very pretty dining room where the conversation feels vibrant but not intrusive. The food is great and the service excellent. One likes the courses to arrive and be removed smoothly and quietly. Interesting choices and very good size portions. We will visit Dante again.

My wife and I met her brother here who was staying upstairs at the Royal Sonesta. We all loved our (chicken, hanger steak, and salmon) meals but the service was especially outstanding. The servers were friendly and always there at the right time. It was raining and I look forward to giving it a try when we can sit outdoors.

Great Service and Amazing Service
The restaurant had amazing service. My girlfriend and I went for her birthday. I just picked the restaurant based on its review and proximity to the science museum. The service was amazing. I really liked that anytime I was about to finish my drink or there was a little left someone was there to fill it up. There is nothing worse than wanting a drink and you not having anything left. The food was great, and you could tell the chef was confident as there was no salt or pepper on the table. It was seasoned perfectly. The only complaint I have is we went on a Friday. This restaurant is in a hotel and was pretty loud for most of our meal. If they could have separated us from that more it would have been perfect.

We sat outside on the patio overlooking the Charles, I had no idea this restaurant had such a picturesque backdrop! So romantic and the food was equal to if not better than Italian from the North End. Pretty sure the bread is homemade as well because it was absolutely delicious.

Single Malt Scotch & $1 Oysters ==
The Best Happy Hour Ever! Especially when you add in the view of the Charles and Boston skyline from the patio bar...

Scenic and Tasty
For a great view of the Charles and Boston skyline it is hard to beat the view from Dante's patio. Our server was attentive without hovering. He went out of his way to answer our inquiry about the delicious pickled vegetables-they turned out to be ramps! The gorgonzola gnocchi was a great use of seasonal peaches and a mint pesto. The portions were not huge so there is room for dessert-the affogato is a perfect closing, strong expresso over vanilla gelato.

Peace in the city
Delicious light Italian food with a quiet terrace overlooking a marina on the Charles River - heaven!

We chose Dante after reading the reviews but were not exactly sure what we would find. We were meeting with friends who we had not seen in a long time and wanted a place that wasn't too noisy so we could catch up. We were offered outside tables with a view of the river which we declined since it was quite muggy that evening. This was not a problem and we were offered a table by the window. The waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. We shared 3 appetizers that were very good, we each had an entrée and we shared two very good desserts. The food was different and excellent, the service was excellent and we were allowed to linger which gave us plenty of time to catch up. It was a very enjoyable evening

Great dishes, wonderful server
We had an amazing meal and dessert. The server was energetic, funny, gave amazing recommendations and really knew to make us happy with each round. We loved trying each dish and hearing him describe the "marriage" that happened as the ingredients combined.
We will definitely come again!

We were very satified with the service and the delicious food at Dante. The bar and outdoor seating are so inviting but we chose a quiet corner in front of the window to enjoy our champagne and meal. The flavors were different combinations than expected- and the flavors worked together- for an Italian restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant which may be overlooked since it is not in Harvard Square and connected to the Royal Sonesta.

Review of Dante
I had a client for dinner here. The food and service was terrific. They warned me that it was going to be noisy as they had a couple of large groups. They were right. I've eaten here often as I really enjoy the food and in the warner months, eating outside overlooking the Charles River is great. Other than the noise, it's a very good stop.

my evening was wonderful except for the temperature. I was cold and left sooner than I would have (and ordered less, too) had I been warm. The oysters deal is outstanding! And the Wellfleets were delicious.

Good food, good wine, great service
Dante was fantastic. The waiter gave us helpful suggestions for wine and appetizers, but didn't push when we said no to any of his suggestions. It wasn't especially crowded for a Saturday night, which helped keep the noise level down. It is fairly expensive so it is definitely a special occasion restaurant, but I would certainly come back again!

Another great experience
We eat here almost every trip to Boston. The food is great and the service flawless. It is a great alternative to eating at crowded, noisy North end traps. The ambiance is wonderful. It is a lovely room. Don't miss the appetizers. Leave room for great desserts.

We were there to celebrate
We were there to celebrate 60 years of friendships. We were treated with the utmost diginity and they even brought us a complimentary desert etched with a wonderful writing.
Waitress was awesome and the atmosphere was wonderful. This was our second time and we loved it.
12/6/2013 4:00:00 PM
We had a great meal here even though one of our party of six was in a rush. The waitress and chef were very accommodating. Food was fantastic. However, when ordering, the waitress was a little pushy trying to add to the bill. There is a fine line between suggesting more food and pushing to add food to the bill and we think it was crossed. Other than that snag the service was great.

Warm spot on a cold, snowy night
We're two couples that alternate picking restaurants every 2 months. My husband wanted Italian. Was glad I chose Dante. It was a cold, stormy night, but warm and welcoming inside. We wanted a quiet place to chat, and were very happy with the noise level. We were welcomed warmly at the door. The food was tasty and tastefully presented, with vegetarian options. Mushroom/chestnut soup special was comforting and seasonally-spiced. Our party's entree choices, all good, spanned vegetarian (cauliflower ravioli), meat (pork), hake, and gnocci with shortribs. Drinks (italian 75), sangria, and martinis were all good too, as was the wine (good selection by the glass or bottle). We had a nice view of the frozen Charles River Basin. Will return!
