The food was very good with several unique twists. The special house cocktails were delish and strong. The three that had the halibut said it was cooked perfectly but were disappointed in the sauce. The rabbit was suburb as we're the scallops. Mixed reviews on the duck from wonderful to OK. The noise level is up there, but not near as loud as Peche Seafood Grill or Couchon. The desserts we tried were great. Overall a fine dining experience.

This was my third visit to Rue 127. I had the oyster appetizer and divers scallops entree and it was outstanding! My only disappointment was the absence of their wedge salad from the menu. I will enthusiastically recommend Rue 127 to all! Truly exquisite!

A delightful cottage tucked within a bustling block of Carrollton Avenue. I had the fried oysters with granny smith apples and jicama. The sauce was amazing with a perfect amount of zing. I had the halibut and artichoke for my entree and I didn't offer to share because I wanted it all for myself! My husband had the sweetbreads risotto and the double cut pork chop. Desserts were special too. A blackberry upside down cake was devoured in minutes. Fun times in a great environment. Making plans to go back again next week!

Fantastic food, somewhat slow
I enjoyed the atmosphere and decor; and the food (duck) was perfect. My party did have to wait longer than expected for our entrees to be served.

Delicious food; nice atmosphere
The review title says it all. My double cut pork chop was juicy and delicious, and the intimate dining area in the traditional New Orleans shotgun house was comfortable and nicely decorated.

I have been planning to try rue for awhile. It was wonderful! I went for lunch but can't wait to go back for dinner!

Excellent as always
I don't know why we don't go here more often. Averaging once about every 6 months is not enough. The food is outstanding! We were not able to decide which apps to try as they all sounded great so we ordered three apps to share and shared an entree as well. Apps were: mussels, sweetbread risotto and spaghetti with clams. The entree was scallops on a cauliflower puree with carrots and brussel sprout leaves. Everything was amazing. It seems like each dish that came out was better than the last. I can't wait to go back.

Charming and Innovative
Rue 127 is a charming restaurant--innovative fare in a delightful setting... a renovated Victorian that has lost the "house" feel, so you're not at Grandma's but rather in an artistic, refined, but still warm and cozy place. Who could imagine a butter lettuce salad worth writing about? It is! The fried oyster appetizer was also perfectly cooked and presented, and the halibut was delightfully light and tasty. There are several heavier dishes on the menu, including even a baked chicken and macaroni & cheese dish worth the trip. The server was very accommodating. We couldn't decide on wine and he let us taste three different ones before springing for the chardonnay. I hadn't been to Rue 127 for almost 2 years.. but I will be back again soon.

Loved this restaurant, set in an old house but done in a contemporary way. Really great cocktail list, loved our service ( perfect balance of informative and nice yet very professional). I had rabbit fettuccini so wonderful and very light). Salads were gorgeous, duck was fantastic too.

Katie is a very attentive and informative waitress

Great Place in Mid City
Excellent place to go in Mid City. Food was excellent and the service was great.

I love this place. Not too big with great food and great service.

Perfect Date Spot
This was my first night out on a date in a while and I couldn't have picked a better place! The food was exceptional. We started w/the risotto (a must try for me when eating out). Never had "sweetbreads risotto" before; it was outstanding. My date had the scallops and I had the duck. Both were excellent. The ambiance was nice and although you're sitting in close proximity to other tables, there was enough privacy to enjoy each others conversation. The price is very reasonable for the quality of food.
The wait staff was very knowledgeable and very helpful when making food / wine decisions.
I will definitely be going back (probably with the same lady!).

Excellent meal and service; Pleasant surroundings with a nice variety of menu choices. Desserts - excellent
7/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Party of 4 loved each dish. Butter lettuce salad, marrow appetizer, grilled salmon, veal chop & chicken entrees were excellent . Only 1 complaint, extremely slow, 30 min between courses. Over all food was worth the wait
7/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Intimate, chic, comfortable
Food quite good. The watermelon salad was perfect.

Best restaurant meal in a while
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. From soup to nuts, everything was delicious, the wait staff was exemplary, and the ambience is romantic.
I particularly recommend the marrow, risotto, roasted chicken, mac & cheese, and blueberry upside-down cake.
It's a little gem (but I kinda hope it doesn't get too popular)!

This was my first visit to Rue 127. It did live up to the reviews. The food is excellent with an original twist. This is a very small place, so it gets crowded quickly. The staff is excellent after you get past the receptionist. There are many things I want to try on the menu so we will be back. Everyone enjoyed all the dishes from salads, soups, gumbo, scallops, chops, pasta, and desserts. They have some very unique cocktails as well. Parking is on the street and limited like many restaurants in New Orleans.

Tiny Place...Great Food
I couldn't believe how small this place was, but they really make it work. I didn't feel crowded at all, it wasn't too loud. The food was delicious and came out fast.
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had outstanding service
We had outstanding service and excellently prepared food. Will recommend to friends. Our table had the Veal chop , duck and scallops. Scallops were seared perfectly and the veal and duck were cooked to our specifications. We had the fried cupcakes for dessert, such a unique preparation. It was a good ending to a delightful meal.
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had the mussles for the first time and they were excellent.
We also love the scallops and the pork chop. Beautiful presentations and great service.
8/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Took my wife there for her birthday and we very much enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Great for couples! Also, the waitstaff was attentive and knowledgable about the wines and menu items. Perfect evening!
8/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
A true gem of a space nestled between busy eateries. Just had Shrimp remoulade salad on a weekday afternoon. Good and generous. Will go back for more adventurous selection.
8/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
small but worth a visit
Watch closely just after Canal or you will miss this great little restaurant. Parking is on the street, and not easy like many small N.O. restaurants. The bar makes excellent very unusual cocktails that change all the time. The receptionist will always try to seat you in a small hallway even when the restaurant is empty. Don't let them unless crowded. Why I do not know, but it has happened on everyone of our 4 visits. The salads and bread are excellent. The pork chop was large and very juicy. The fillet was very tender. All of our meals have been great here. The menu is small but done very well. Rue 127 will remain on our list of great restaurants.

Small gem on Carrollton near Canal
We went mid week for a birthday dinner to have some good food and conversation. Too many of the newest restaurants in New Orleans are way too noisy. This small intimate venue has a comforting feel. The food menu is all well done.
I would recommend this for foodies and it is a neighborhood gem.
9/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice and quiet lunch conversation
Nice place for a quiet lunch conversation with colleague or friend.

Glad to finally get to Rue 127!
I have been meaning to visit Rue 127 for a long time. Finally, I suggested it to friends as a place for lunch. We were delighted with the food and the service--and it is such a cute place!. The gumbo was wonderful ! Each of us lived our entree. I will bring my husband for dinner here soon!
9/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Wonderful birthday dinner
It was one of the best birthday dinners I have ever had. My family and I had an amazing time. All of our plates were as close to licked clean as they could have been. The portions were great. The service was timed perfectly. I 100% would go back time and time again.
9/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was amazing, respectfully portioned, and reasonably priced. Our service was great and very helpful with the food and cocktail menus.
9/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Friends from New Orleans told us about Rue 127. It's small, with a great atmosphere.
Food was amazing, especially the veal chop and the sticky toffee pudding.
Service was perfect. Highly recommend!
9/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Small but mighty!!!
We love, love, love this neighborhood restaurant!! Food is always consistently yummy as well as the presentation!
Wait staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly!! Never make you feel rushed and service is impeccable. Small
restaurant but if you're lucky enough to get a reservation, I highly recommend you going.

Excellent Once Again
Went to Rue for the 20th time and once again it was fabulous. There were 7 of us this time and we were well attended to. Not going to bore you with all the details...
This restaurant is in a small space that offers both the romantic setting and the more "bistro" atmosphere. The food is innovative, well balanced, presented with precision, and overall worth a foodies time. The service is always spot on, good recommendations (wine) and attentiveness.
Bottom line is this little gem is worth the ride out to mid-city for some good eats.

Wonderful Overall Experience
Excellent food and service. Because of my egg allergy I rarely get dessert, but I had their wonderful apple pie sorbet, mana from heaven.
10/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Our lunch was great. We got the gumbo, fried oysters, shrimp remoulade, and tomato soup. My only complaint was that I had included a note that it was our anniversary and a request for something special to be brought out but the request was either overlooked or ignored. But the food was great. And it's a cool space.
10/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great as Usual
An under-appreciated restaurant on par food-wise with the best restaurants in the City. If there is a better bowl of gumbo in New Orleans, I haven't found it. And the risotto is sublime.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicious and Friendly
My husband and I brought our two young boys to eat at Rue 127. We really enjoyed ordering a bunch of the snack items to share and try. My oldest son tried brussel sprouts and loved them and he does not eat lots of veggies. The mussels may have been the best I ever had. I thought about finishing the sauce with a spoon like a soup! Cozy, friendly and delicious.
10/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
This was my first time at this restaurant. The food was very good. I ordered the salmon and my husband ordered the double pork chop. We both enjoyed our choices. I would return. The restaurant is small , so reservations are a must!
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very pleasant dining, off the tourist track but it shouldn't be. We are from out-of-town and were introduced to this reataurant by New Orleans residents. We keep going back whenever we are in New Orleans. Tasty food, elegantly presented.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were a party of 6 and had a wonderful dining experience. The service was great and the restaurant was very accommodating. One person in our group is gluten free and the waitress was able to help with the menu. We also had an eight year old child with us and they were able to make a dish just for her. The menu also had enough variety for everyone at the table. From chicken to duck breast and scallops, everything tasted amazing. I would definitely go back to try more dishes.
10/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
So many great entrees..
Everything we ordered- chicken, pork chop, and salmon were cooked/baked/broiled perfectly. Mac and cheese side was excellent as was the sorbet dessert to finish off the meal. Reasonable prices for bottled wine. We will dine here again.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
I went with 3 friends for lunch. I had Oyster salad - YUM! Also tomato soup with crab! One friend had steak and she said it was so tender and the best she had. It also had grits - that I tried and were so tasty! We had the cupcakes for dessert because all the reviews said it was the best. They were 100% fantastic - save room! They also had a "Purple Drink" on the menu and it was so light and fruity - great for lunch.
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
My date and I sat at the table for 25 minutes without being waited on. I've been here before so I knew it wasn't how they generally operate. It was apparently just a miscommunication, not a huge deal. They gave us some complimentary corn bread which was pretty good. The food as usual was excellent and after that initial hic up the service was great as well. I will definitely go back.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
My husband and I dined at Rue 127 for the first time this weekend. When we arrived, the hostess directed us to a 2-top in a hallway. We asked to be moved and were graciously moved to a 2-top in the main dining room. It made for a much nicer dining experience. Our server, Kate, was very knowledgeable about the menu. She was attentive to our needs and didn't rush us along. All in all, a wonderful dining experience.

Rue 127 Recent Review
Very nice meal with friends. Moderate noise level but food and service excellent.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Amazing little gem!
We were amazed at this little gem of a restaurant tucked away off Carrolton and Canal! The menu is small but varied and we found so many items that we wanted to try so we'll be back soon. The roasted squash, bacon and jicama salad was so delicious, the osso bucco excellent, scrumptious roasted chicken/mac and cheese and brussel sprouts. Apple crumble dessert was a great finishing touch. But the homemade rolls..............oh my!

Talented Chef & Charming Restaurant
The space inside this Shotgun House is a bit tight and can get a little loud when full, but the place is charming, the service is attentive and the food is delicious.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Wow. Great lunch. This chef owned restaurant is tiny and tenacious. Everything is made in house and delicious. We watched the chef cooking in the tiny kitchen through the picture window that made me feel like I was in the kitchen with the crew. My butternut squash soup was delicious. The tiny croutons were incredibly good. The mussels were cooked perfectly. Hanger steak was delicious. The dessert apple crisp with cinnamon ices was excellent. The satsuma sorbet was yummy. Make a reservation for dinner, there are limited tables. This is a foodies delight.
