Awesome, old-school Italian
Awesome, old-school Italian restaurant. Off the beaten path, in that it's not on the "main drag" of Boston's North End, but having Paul Revere's house outside your front window is not exactly playing second fiddle to any other locale. We love their food, service and location as North Square is a quiet, hidden gem of an area. Our waiter Nelson was new to the restaurant but seemed like an old hand. And as usual, Riccardo's was quiet on the night we went, but yet the food was fresh and expertly prepared. And Richie the bartender made our Espresso Matinis (which we had in lieu of dessert) exactly as requested; not too creamy and a touch of extra espresso. Take a group, take your kids or take your spouse but Riccardo's will take care of you....

Fantastic meal! What a gem!
I could not be more pleased with Riccardo's. We were a large group of 22 and the waiter was right on the ball, brining us appetizers offering suggestions and just being very helpful and friendly. The food was sooooo delicious, everyone enjoyed their meal from 6 year old up to folks in their 70's. Outstanding gem. We had been on an adventure in Boston and were ready for lunch and I am so glad that I had made reservations with Open Table and found such a gem of a restaurant. I would highly recommend Riccardo's to anyone. Fantastic meal and great wait staff.

A gem off the beaten path
Rite on north square across a ancient cobblestone street from Paul Revere's house is Riccardo's. I had been told the food and the service are very good. They did not disappoint. We had a wonderful meal and the staff was very attentive. The servers seemed to know we were in for a nice relaxing meal and did not rush us in the least. The pace was perfect. The room is very classy: rich, dark woods but with plenty of large bright windows opening onto the street. There was a large group upstairs in the function room but downstairs it was very quiet and relaxed. As much as I like the North End Hanover Street at times is unmanageable. Riccardo's, being off the beaten path, is a real gem. I will certainly be back as will the rest of my party.

Great Place--Bachelorette Party
We had 16 people for dinner at Riccardo's and it was excellent. The service was great, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic. The restaurant is a good size without being too big and has a really nice bar where you can wait. I would highly, highly recommend it. The prices were also very, very reasonable.

Gem in Boston's North End!
Had a great dining experience at Riccardo's! Service was prompt and professional. Food was well prepared and presented. Location is off the hectic scene of Hanover Street. A neighborhood gem!!!

Very nice experience
I brought a colleague from Kentucky to experience the North End and chose your restaurant because my husband and I had visited before. I knew it was nice, reasonable in cost and just the right experience for her. She loved it. Also I called in advance before you were open and you called me right back to confirm my reservation. I thank you so much, we had a great evening.

Excellent Service/Excellent Food
Go for the specials! My friend had the Bracciolinni special and it did not disappoint. I had a classic shrimp madeira ala riccardo and it too was tender and perfectly cooked. No room for dessert, but try for the chocolate infused sweeet red wine, a perfect last taste to finish the meal. Excellent!

Great night out!
We had a slight delay in sitting down for our 8'oclock reservation, however, the owner went out of his way in accommodating so many large parties on one of the biggest college graduation nights in the city. Once seated, our party enjoyed one of the most authentic and delicious meals this native Bostonian has ever had in Boston's North End! Beginning with a wonderful antipasto right thru till the last bite of dessert, coupled with a wonderful wine selection, it was truly a true experience of the North End at it's finest! A must stop for those seeking the ultimate in North End cuisine!

Delicious, fresh and notable
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Riccardo's. We sat by the window and though it was raining, we were able to look out at the street scene. I had the mediteranean seabass that was fresh, and cooked to perfection. My husband had the Shrimp Riccardo and enjoyed the flavors and plumpness of the shrimp.
The service was attentive and excellent. All of the staff including management was very friendly and made our experience memorable.
If in the North End, you must give Riccardo's Restaurant a visit.

Great Dining Experience!
It was an authentic Italian dinner experience in the North End of Boston! The calamari appetizer was one of the BEST I have tasted--light and crisp--and the dipping sauce was homemade and it was DELICIOUS! I will be back for the calamari and to experience more of their cuisine. Riccardo was there--very amiable host; he greeted us when we entered and immediately made us feel welcomed. I quite enjoyed the ambiance and service!

Very nIce North End restaurant
I have dinned at Riccardo's several times over the years but had not been there for a while. I'm glad to say nothing has changed. The food and services is still great. The dinning room is roomy and warm. The food is tops and the owner will stop buy to see how you are doing. One of the better places in the North End!

Why do almost all north end restaurants serve terrible bread? It weird. But look past that with Riccardos because the rest of our food was wonderful. We live I the north end so are pretty critical when eating out. We fully enjoyed our meals and the prices were reasonable. Nice ambiance. Service was prompt but not too much. We will definitely be back!,

Nice restaurant in North End
Greeted warmly and allowed to choose where we wanted to sit. Small area, and not many people at 8:45 PM. Service was quick and efficient. Food was tasty and filling. Not used to Boston prices though, certainly in line with other prices we paid in Boston. Server presented wine well, but spilled upon pouring in glasses. At $34 a bottle we don't like to see any going to waste. Meatball special appetizers were HUGE, 2 for $9. Salads were fresh and adequate. Eggplant parm was done very well and proportioned nicely. Oldest son and I ordered Seafood Special for $32 each. Certainly enough food, and Fra Diavlo was not too hot. Youngest son ordered Stuffed Calamari which he had trouble finishing due to portion size, and he is a Big Eater!

Excellent North End eatery
I made a reservation through OpenTable because they had a positive review for another larger party. This turned out to be a GREAT decision.
Despite the restaurant being empty, the staff was very inviting. We had cocktails at the bar while we waited for our party. Richie, I believe the owner's son, entertained us with conversation and the bartender (later our waitress) was also very nice. When they couldn't make my drink order (didn't have the right ingredients) they brought us some free olive's to munch on.
Dinner was excellent - specials all sounded amazing and all were delicious! At the end of the night, Richie bought us a round of chocolate liquor. It was amazing and a great end to a great night. I highly recommend Riccardo's!

Great Food - Groups Welcome
There are many wonderful family run restaurants in Boston's North End yet not many can handle large parties & do it well with food and service. RIccardo's does it all! On a recent summer Sunday I had a reservation for 16, they were even able to change my reservation to 20 just 4 hours before the dinner! In addition to their first floor dining room with windows that open into the square - They have a beautiful upstairs dining room with a bar that overlooks Paul Revere's house - with floor to ceiling windows that open to little balconies! We sat upstairs and it was like having a family dinner at home. Our waiter was very attentive - especially to the 6 small children that were part of our party. Oh - the food - delicious and plenty of it!

Street side dining at it's best.
Having a window table street side and being able to relax with great drinks and even better food, what more could you ask for? Portobello and Artichoke appetizer was to die for. Service was great. Meals were all enjoyed. Will go back often.

I dined at Riccardo's on a recent Saturday night with a group of 8. We had a great table and didn't feel crowded. The service was outstanding and the waitstaff was very attentive. The food was excellent. Each of us had very different dishes and everyone was happy with their choices. I would highly recommend it. A very nice alternative to the Hanover Street restaurants.

Excellent North End Spot
My wife, grown daughter and I had a Saturday night dinner at Riccardo's. We were looking for an Italian restaurant in the North End that was not in the middle of the Honover Street huistle and bustle. Riccardo's fit the bill well as it is near Paul Revere's House on a quieter street. Dinner was excellent, with familiar Chianti selections. Service was a little slow at times but it was a busy Saturday evening and we were not in a hurry, so all was well.

A Traditonal North End Spot
We had visitors that remembered the North End from years ago and wanted a traditonal resturant experience. Riccardo's filled the bill. Good food, great service and reasonable prices. It was a bit loud and clearly a popular spot, so reservations would a good idea especially on a weekend evening. I plan to return.
10/11/2013 5:00:00 PM
We had dinner for a party of 10 and everything was spectacular - food - service - ambience.
Not on Hanover St - so a little quieter than some of the other spots.
They even make their own desserts in an area where most restaurants don't try to compete with the famous pastry shops - and it was delicious!

Good North End pick
Our waiter Mike was great and paced our dinner perfectly. We told him we were going to Josh Groban concert and he kept track of our time for us. He described dinner specials but also pointed a few of his favorites. The dinner special was veal and he switched out for chicken to accommodate two of our diners. Tried the squash blossom app - delicious and mushroom app - we were using our bread to finish the sauce. I'll be going back to the North End and now I have a new favorite.

Great food off the beaten path
Went here with two families and food was delicious! Made a reservation and table was ready on time--which given the fact that it was the same day as the Red Sox parade was incredible. Great service! Would highly recommend!

Good for low-cost dining in N. End
We've been here a few times before and have had some good and not-great experiences, but overall I think this is probably one of the best bets for reasonably priced meals in the North End. This time was very good, and we'll likely be back.
