Occupying a great space on
Occupying a great space on the UWS, now setup to feel open and have a Surfer theme Ditch Plains is setup for group, large group and families eating together. Extensive menu of breakfast, brunch and lunch items with a nice list of beers and wine by half bottle and bottle.
Given it's open and given to large family and group hosting the noise level is elevated but you can hold a conversation over your meal without needing to raise your voice.
Seafood is fresh and excellent, great lobster roll

Best place to go if you have kids!
If you like dining out with your little ones this is a great place to consider. Awesome kids menu and each booth has its own tv screen! A welcome distraction for sure!

Really Good Spot
I love Landmarc, so I wanted to try Ditch Plains -- our waiter was terrific, really good wine list, the sangria was awesome too. Jalapeno and cheddar tots were very tasty as were the oysters. I got the special tacos, lump crab, and they were pretty good but nothing super spectacular. I tasted my friend's fish and chips, terrific. Overall, really good spot.

Great for large group with kids
Went with a group of ten, one kid in a highchair. Everyone loved the food and the service was great form the moment we walked in the door. Our server even mentioned that we should get our order in before another large table was about to.
The only reason they don't get five stars is because my toddler's food, which I asked when I ordered it that it be brought out right away, didn't come until the rest of the entrees, and the chicken was rubbery as if it'd been sitting under the heat lamp for too long. Honest mistake, they were packed.
Otherwise, love this place, highly recommend it!

Charred Octopus was truly disappointing flavor wise. The Red Snapper was absolutely delicious including the surrounding vegetables. Any restaurant should be proud to serve such a dish.

Great Place for Seafood
Had a great Sunday dinner at Ditch Plains. We were planning on the lobster pot special, but once there my friend and I were both sidetracked by other things on the menu. I had the fresh Tuna burger which was terrific. The waiter gave me a heads-up that since it's cooked on the rare-side, this is one burger that isn't piping hot. That was fine by me!
My friend had the lobster roll which was fully packed with big chunks of lobster.
In general, a great meal!

Great for families. Food amazing!
This was recommended to us by a friend. We're new in town and wanted a good place to take the kids. This was definitely a success for everyone. The muscles were awesome, the kids meals are plentiful, the wine list was good. Definitely make this a stop if you want a casual, delicious meal.

Lobstah Bake Sunday
My husband and I went on Sunday to take advantage of the $30 lobster bake. We shared that and an appetizer and the churros for dessert. He had 3 beers, I had one cocktail and the bill was less than $100. Lots of kids, but then again we went early. Awesome special stuff they can do for parties/lg groups. Will definitely be going back. Wish they had an outdoor space; we would eat there more bc we often take our dog with us. Inside space is huge. All around, recommend. Also wish they had a waterfront spot because its a surfer themed place.

Best casual beach food
Have been here three times and each time has been great. Things I like:
• Beers I've never heard of and fun, fizzy wines like txakoli
• Delicious, unpretentious beach food like fish tacos and lobster rolls, expertly prepared, plus more serious offerings. [Quibble -- the shrimp in the spicy shrimp salad were a little soggy. And was that iceberg lettuce? Mark Murphy, you have been chopped. :-)]
• Noise level is just right, music is just audible enough to create some atmosphere, but you can easily have a conversation. This may be my #1 favorite thing about this place, given what goes on at other restaurants
• Free salt water taffy
• The surfing theme generally
Plan to go back many more times. Hope it doesn't close.

Enthusiastic, if somewhat green waitress. Look forward to returning

Crab Boil Spoil
We came as people who grew up along Chesapeake Bay and know about blue crabs. While the Old Bay Seasoning on the crabs and corn were delicious, we were a bit shock and very disappointed at the size of the crabs. These crabs were so small that they were barely worth cracking into since there was so little meat in them. To make matters worse, some of the meat was just mushy and inedible. We've been looking forward to this for months and were definitely upset and disappointed about the crabs when we left.
On a positive note, our waiter Tim was terrific - the perfect mix of professional, friendly, knowledgable and attentive. Also, we had a green salad (fabulous dressing) that was delicious as were all the sides that came with the crabs.

Crab Night Event
We went for the special crab night event. This was the best deal in NYC. We first received hushpuppies in a basket along with
potato wedges in a basket , both very good. Next came a bucket of well seasoned crabs and corn on the cob, O my!!!! Yummy! We ate very well. Next came dessert which was a ditchwich (gelato between 2 chocolate cookies) .excellent. We all enjoyed this event and will definitely look forward to having as much fun next year,. hopefully they will repeat again next year.
Staff was very knowledgeable and very friendly.

Good neighborhood Fish
Nice local place in the neighborhood that is tucked away off the street. Great selection of fresh fish, all of the dishes we had were worth returning for. Large salad portions are huge.

Great neighborhood place
I had a friendly reunion dinner here with visitors from out of town. The food was the same reliably delicious comfort fare as their downtown location, however, UWS location is far more spacious. It was remarkably non-crowded for a Friday night and it looks to have ample seating for large groups. The prices are affordable and the ambiance is fun.

Solid choice for family dinners
Without fail, Ditch Plains is a fun, easy, relaxed evening for our family of three (4 year old included). Service is fast, everyone is friendly, most groups include at least one child so we never feel like "that" family - and, added bonus - the children's menu offers healthy, interesting choices that kids will actually eat.

Great food and service - just the food took a long time coming out. Only downside, other than that great.

Kid friendly ... adults okay too!
one of the most child friendly places in manhattan. plenty of stroller parking and kiddie accoutrement. the kitchen turns out great food - a highlight is you can order from the brunch or regular menu at brunch. the servers are amazing in their ability to navigate high chairs and scrambling toddlers and deal with the adults.

Delicious food, kid friendly for our 3 year old, great service, energetic crowd...solid experience! I had the shrimp and andouille over jalapeño grits-- creamy, spicy-- just delicious! The table started with calamari and a side of fried jalapeños. Both crispy and tasty. My friend had the lobster macaroni and cheese which was full of lobster! She and her husband talked about how good it was all the way home! My husband had the steak-- he said it was good. Overall wonderful time! We will return!

Great!!!!, . . . But......
Everything was great about this restaurant, but the service. Great drinks, food, ambiance, story behind restaurant, neighborhood, etc.
I long for the days when the waiter/waitress actually takes care of your needs and leaves his or her "flair" at home. I would love to have my food actually served by the person I ordered it from. It would be nice to not have to review who got what at every course with the person "delivering" the food. Shades of the 99, Applebee's and all those "fun" places. I have seen this trend in other NYC restaurants. Please stop!!!

Picnic in the Hood
So far the ttwo times I have been here have been great. The "Ditch" team is a friendly one.
Food is abundant and the mac and cheese is fantastic!

Wine drinkers beware
Wine is only served by split or bottle. $26 for a split of fair to parly cloudy Pinot Noir with a screw top. Enjoyed the foods

Great menu, lots of interesting choices. We went on a Monday night and the service was great (the restaurant was very quiet). No complaints, we will go back.
