Lovely fare for lunch. The mixed appetizer of three choices from several is still a favorite. This time we included broccoi rabe which was so fresh and tasteful with parmeasan cheese sliced into it. My friend and I split a frittata which was a nice sized portion and we really appreciated the filtered coffee, nice touch.

Like a trip to Sicily
True authentic Sicilian kitchen. Pasta con sarde brings back childhood memories.

A nice surprise!
Really great and tasty dishes -- not at all the generic place I expected this place to be!

We were a group of 13, from L.I., from PA, & Florida. We were accommodated easily & the service was great.
The food was delicious, authentic Sicilian cuisine! Can't wit to go back!

Authentic rare Sicilian cooking!
What a find, a return to my Sicilian heritage in food! Could not believe we tasted food from our childhood. The Pasta con Sarde,as we called it,(Bucatini cu le sarde)was perfect, authentic. I’m sure many Italian foodies haven’t tasted this (these) unique dish.Purpo cu ciciri and Sagnarelli cu ragu di carni more winners.

Worth returning to
Eolo's menu was a welcome change from typical Italian - enjoyed making a selection of Sicilian specialities. Homemade pasta was wonderful and service unobtrusive but attentive. Good selection of wines. I would definitely go back for well prepared food that is reasonably priced.

GO to this restaurant!!
The food at Eolo is some of the best Sicilian food I have ever eaten. The pasta con sarde is delectable, the appetizers extraordinary, the dessert divine. But the place was virtually empty! It could be the disorganized service, or the uninspired ambience, but put that aside and go enjoy some extraordinary food and save this place from going out of business!!

Beautiful spot for excellent food!
I happened to find this restaurant on OpenTable and it was fantastic! The food was so great that we couldn't wait for the next time we go. The service was extremely friendly- our waiter had a smile and great attitude every time he stopped at our table. The only complaint I had was with the wine list- we picked out a bottle from the extensive wine list and after the waiter took the order, the sommelier came out and said the waiter was confused about which bottle we specified, and then it turned out they didn't even have it in stock. The wine they offered instead was very nice, but it was a little concerning that their menu wasn't accurate. But overall, the delicious food made up for this blunder!

outstanding cocktails! not
outstanding cocktails! not sure what the bartender does, but even a simple straightup dry martini, is soooo good! and my wife absolutely loved their watermelon house-infused vodka martini - might be her new favorite cocktail and she's not much of a drinker!

Great food, classic NYC ambiance (as the subway rumbles under you every few minutes). Our waiter seemed in a hurry to get our orders when the whole purpose of being there was to have a relaxed and prolonged dinner....that was explained as he put on his backpack and told us his shift was over before heading out the door. The hostess and runners pitched in and took good care of us in his absence. The food was a delight. Olive oil poached halibut, charred octopus, and handmade pastas are sure bets. Eolo lacks a little polish in ambiance and service, but the food won't disappoint. I'd go back if I were in the area.

The waitress informed us that the portions were a little smaller on the "Restaurant Week" menu, and I appreciated her
honesty and letting us know ahead of time. The portions were fine for us, but I think, in particular, men might still be hungry if they ordered off this particular menu.

good all around
Took my wife out on a date... thx to gramma for babysitting. This was during the nyc restaurant week for the $38 dinner special.
Overall, the food was very good. Everything we chose had beautifully simple and delicious. The only "but" was that portions were small... typical during restaurant week special menus at places all over town. However, we weren't hungry when we left... just wanted more since it was all delicious.
Drinks were good too, but each over $10, so the bill can start adding up.
Can't go wrong with this place if you like good food though... definitely give it a try.

A Great Dining Experience!
We picked this restaurant off of the open table list for restaurant week and had no idea what to expect. What a great dining experience! We ended up not ordering off the restaurant week menu for no reason other than we didn't want dessert . All four people in our party had a different appetizer and entree and all of it was delicious! The service was great, the wine options plentiful (the bartender even came over to our table to assist us with ordering) and it was a great dining experience all around. I would definitely go back!

Great place before the Irish Rep
We made a reservation at Bar Eolo because it was close to the Irish Repatory Theater. We were so pleasantly surprised with the ambiance. The food and wine was Sicilian - some new tastes and both were excellent. The service was a bit haphazardat first but it may have been because we were eating very early in a neighborhood that eats late. That being said the wait staff was very pleasant and did make the small changes in our order that we requested - all with a smile. I highly recommend Bar Eolo.

Recently renovated (and name changed to Bar Eolo) this is the place to go for serious Sicilian food. They've added "bar snacks"--try the fried olives. Melissa, the chef/owner is passiionate about authenticity and it shows.

Restaurant Week made this a "must check out" and we were not disappointed. Everything was well prepared and Sicilian, not just Italian. The service was fine and we just had a really good time with this Chelsea restaurant.

Food was delish!!! Authentic Sicilian /Italian flavors. Fresh pastas and sauces. App, entree and dessert were amazing. My friend and I had the saffron rice balls, bruschetta for apps. Ragu with shirt ribs and eggplant pasta for entrees. Ricotta stuffed doughnuts for dessert. So good. I can't wait to go back.

Sicilian Cuisine at its' finest
We had a wonderful lunch/dinner last Sunday. The food was delicious, wine was excellent, and the service was friendly and prompt. Pasta was outstanding as were arancini. Don't forget the sfinci fpr dessert.

Sicily in Chelsea
Not quite Sicily but so close. It was a pleasure to have dinner here. The food, service and ambience were a delight.

This was my second visit to bar eolo's. The food was just as delicious and the service just as good as my first visit.
I would recommend this restaurant.

Facelift for an old friend
Recently renovated, and lighter looking, hasn't effected the good quality of the food. I was disappointed that Rana, the warm and friendly gal who hosted and served in the past was no longer there to offer her insights into the menu. The waitstaff was more laissez faire and preoccupied. The restaurant has several outdoor tables now but the ambience inside is still preferable. The appetizer with three choices from varied choices is still delicious, this time I tried the lemon asparagus, beets and walnuts and goat cheese and the outstanding caponata, all were tasty. The twisted pasta with pesto sauce and vegetables was very tasty but a bit too salty.

Noise compromises overall experienc
Although the food rates a VERY GOOD, I will probably not return or recommend this restaurant given the level of noise we had to endure. When I spend a hundred dollars per person for a dinner out, I'd like to be able to talk to my party without shouting.
There was some unevenness in the food quality. I found my primavera w/ pesto pasta dish a tad heavy and overly dressed. The octopus appetizer was amazing. And the arugula salad with pine nuts excellent. I really can't speak for what others had but it did seem everyone was pleased enough.
Our waitress kindly added an extension to our table at our request: we were six and found the initial spacing tight; we asked if a table for two could be pushed over; she obliged without hesitation.

I've eaten here twice in the last month. My sister took me here bc homemade pasta was amazing then I had to take my husband bc I loved it so much.

They were out of the special
We arrive at 8:30 and they were out of the special, halibut. I ordered the seared tuna which was delicious!!! Also they were out of beets, so I couldn't get the beet salad. I chose a different salad which was Devine as well.
The bill arrived including a charge for the halibut.

Make sure you flip to page three, we nearly missed the specials. The portion sizes are tremendous and the food (squid ink tortellini, safron rice balls) was amazing.
Service is a bit lacking, but I got the impression our waiter may have been new..

Fantastic food in Chelsea
I had been here before, and they did not disappoint a second time! The food was amazing, both flavorful and simple; the wine list was extensive; and the atmosphere was great. The waitress was a little scarce but otherwise the service was good. I will definitely make a trip back!

The food was fantastic. They served gluten free pasta, which was as stated online. I wish they had offered that to me when we first went over the menu because I was a bit confused. My dish was a bit small for what I paid for but it was delicious nonetheless.

A lovely escape to Sicily
My daughter is attending college in NYC and chose this restaurant for a meal together during our last visit. We really enjoyed a quiet drink at the bar prior to our meal. The waitstaff and bartender were great. The meal was lovely, but rather uninspiring. My husband had a peppered Filet Mignon, which was flavorful but not exceptional. I found the sauce on the duck rather heavy, the duck was cooked perfectly, but the potatoes were soupy and the carrots a bit al dente. The squid ink and lobster pasta were a bit salty, and the flavors didn't mesh well. The Cannoli and cheesecake were fine, but not the best. Please understand, we come from a family of excellent cooks, and almost nothing quite stands up to what we prepare at home.
