Don't judge this by its cover
A great little dining spot tucked away in downtown Winston Salem. Great food & service. We've eaten here several times for lunch and dinner and have never been anything less than pleased. The food is upscale southern cuisine. The sidewalk dining is a great place on a beautiful day for lunch or dinner.

Lovely Dinner on the sidewalk
The weather was perfect, and we got to enjoy eating outside at Mozelle's. The food was great as usual. My husband had his favorite, the fried chicken. Our daughter had the pimento cheese burger. And I had the scallop appetizer. Perfect for a lighter summer meal with wonderful sides of a yummy risotto and a light veggie slaw.

Service was very good with some jostling of tables before setlign in. My companions meals were very good but my Shrimp and Grits was very salty and the grits were almost porridge in consistency. They should lighten up on the sodium.

Went here for our anniversary dinner and it was so, so good! Loved the atmosphere and the food, highly recommend it!!
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
My wife and I eat here regularly, and we always find the food, the atmosphere/ambiance, and the service all to be of excellent quality. This is where we bring friends and family who enjoy fine dining.

We ate outside, which can be a little warm in late afternoon until the sun goes behind the trees. But after that, it's perfect. I had the Pan-seared Salmon which was wonderful. The sides that come with it make it really special and unique. My husband loves the Caesar Salad, and also got the Lobster Sloppy Joes. Strange name, but wonderful, fresh dish. Great servers who have been there many years, and offer consistent, great service.

I am a WS native and have heard about Mozelle's but haven't had the pleasure of dining there until this past Friday night. My husband and I are both foodies and often feel disappointed with our dining out experiences. Mozelle's was a different matter entirely! The food was fresh, innovative and absolutely delicious. The dishes are inspired, creative and delectable. The servers are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about both the food and your dining experience at Mozelle's. I cannot wait to go back again!!

Great Birthday Dinner
We went for my girlfriend's birthday and had a wonderful experience. We were promptly sat at a wonderful table by the window. Our wait person had a wonderful attitude and liveliness about her and was engaging. I had the grouper special and my girlfriend had the fried chicken. Our meals were perfect. This is our second time there and we will go back many times in the future.

Love this place
Mozelles is a favorite amongst the locals here. The food and service are always wonderful. And their wine list is great. I highly recommend this for a special occasion, or for 2 couples.

Love the Southern Cooking!
Mozelle's cuisine ia truly a "taste" of the south with lovely presentation and fit for an upscale restaurant. The only dish that I have sampled that was a bit off the mark was the pimento cheese. Otherwise, everything has been wonderfully filling!
Online reservations were simple and followed up with e-mail and phone reminder!

Food creations are quite frankly show stoppers, tomato pie, meatloaf, catfish tacos. . . Yum yum! Don't miss the fried chicken and end with the bread pudding. What a delicious Southern eating experience. All this and such a friendly place.
8/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
great for date night
We got 2 of our favorite dishes - salad topped with grilled salmon (best in town) and the pork rib-eye which is served over fresh spinach with potato salad and fried green tomatoes. Finished off the meal with wonderful coconut pie and the bread pudding. yum!
8/18/2013 5:00:00 PM
Overall very flavorful meal. Service was great. Fried pickles are delicious crunchy, crispy and delicately pickle flavored...not overwhelming. Tomato Pie flavors very good but the bottom of mine was burned. True comfort food. Grits also great and cheesy.
Vietnamese meat dish not quite up to the other two.
Looking forward to going back and trying the fried chicken and shrimp and grits.

We are not from Winston-Salem
We are not from Winston-Salem but have been in town for an annual event each of the last 3 years and have eaten at Mozelle's each year. We love this place. The food is creative and delicious. My wife had one of the best scallop dishes that we have ever enjoyed anywhere. The location is convenient and there are several options for where you wish to eat, near the open kitchen, on the covered patio or out front on the sidewalk. The staff is friendly and the service very good. The owner, Jennifer, is quite accomodating and her deisre to provide good food and service is evident throughout her establishment. We'll be back for the 4th time next year.

When in Winston-Salem a trip
When in Winston-Salem a trip to Mozelle's Fresh Southern Bistro is a must. If you like southern food - shrimp and grits, collards, fried pickles, pimento cheese, fried chicken, fried green tomatoes - then you will love this place.

Great food, cool place
Cool atmosphere and great spins on classic southern dishes. Nice hidden gem that we will certainly be visiting again!
8/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Always the very best
No matter if its lunch or dinner this very special place is always among the most outstanding dining experiences in the Triad. We had halibut and Salmon with a side of collards...no bad choices here

Excellent Southern food. The mac and cheese is the best! The fried green tomatoes close.

Fun relaxed place to go
Mozelle's has good food in a relaxed atmosphere. We ate outside during one of the few comfortable evening with a nice temperature and without rain. Though the tables are right on the street, it is an enjoyable experience. My husband really enjoyed the scallops.

Mozelle's was great
This was our first visit. We had been looking forward to eating at Mozelle's for a long time, because it is in a very nice location in Winston-Salem. We had a group of 7, and the experience was wonderful. Lots of terrific food options. We enjoyed the fried pickles appetizer and the hummous and baba ganoush. The entrees were all great too. Very filling.

Great place, great food...
We have had the tomato pie several times, as well as shrimp and grits and a trout special of the day. Although the tomato pie will always be a favorite, we are trying to work our way through the menu. Nice wine list. Great service.
One note about noise. One time we took my Dad, who is deaf and wears hearing aids. We asked for a quiet table. They put us in the (separate) dining room to the left of the entrance, but told us they were concerned it might be louder than we wanted because of other diners. The other diners were, fortunately, relatively soft-spoken and all went well. It was on a Monday evening.

We went to Mozelle's to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary. The food was fabulous! We started with the fried pickles which are not to be missed. I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf. It was topped with Havarti cheese and a tomato marmalade. It came with grits and collards. The whole meal was fabulous. And there was so much food on my plate that I brought home leftovers for lunch the next day.
My husband had the fried chicken with mac and cheese. His meal also came with haricot vert but he opted for mashed potatoes instead. He cleaned his plate!
We've been to Mozelle's before and we will definitely be going back again!

Great as usual
Mozelle's never fails to impress. Half price wine on Mondays reels us in, but the food is what has us coming back. Fabulous lobster tacos and scallops as appetizers would have been enough to eat, but we wanted to try other things too. Generous portion of lobster with a great bechemal sauce.. Loved the scallops and the risotto they were served with. I also had the tomato pie with collards on the side, which is something I order often. I had enough left over to have a great lunch. Husband had the Vietnamese beef which he thoroughly enjoyed. Great wait staff, very attentive but not intrusive. Love the patio, watching the people decide which of the 4 restaurants right there to choose. I like them all, but Mozelle's is my favorite.

Not to be missed!
As recent transplants to the Triad we have been on the lookout for our go to restaurant and we found it at Mozelles! The food was great..start to finish. We enjoyed the house made pimento cheese with rosemary crackers, their famous fried chicken with mac n cheese and a succulent pork ribeye. But I would have to say it was the service that set it apart from other places in the area..The service was exceptional ! Attentive, knowledgable and fun :) Thanks again Sam for helping us celebrate our kids birthday!
9/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
Been here before, and has yet to let me down. The fried chicken is my favorite but the shrimp and grits is a close second.

NORTHENERS SEEKING SOUTHERN COOKING
GREAT LOW KEY EXPOSURE TO SOUTHERN COMFORT FOOD. INFORMAL, COMFORTABLE REMARKABLY EDGY FOOD.
TOOK 3 COLLEGE KIDS WHO HAD NEVER BEEN THERE. EVERYONE WAS IMPRESSED AND THE LOCAL STUDENTS PLANNED ON RETURNING. WE ALL HAD DIFFERNT DISHES. THE HIGHLIGHTS WERE THE LOBSTER SLOPPY JOES WHICH SOUNDED ODD, LOOKED QUESTIONALBE, BUT TASTED PHENOMALLY. THE BREAD PUDDING WAS THE PERFECT CAP TO MEALS OF SALMON/TROUT/SHRIMP AND GRITS/FRIED CHICKEN. WE CHOSE THIS RESTAURANT BASED ON AN OPEN TABLE REVIEW. WE AGREE GREAT CASUAL PLACE. SEVICE GOOD. SMALL SPACE TIGHT QUARTERS

A solid West End restaurant choice
I have been to Mozelles several times and I have never been disappointed. Excellent menu and wine list, along with efficient, knowledgeable service. I will be back!

Had a delightful Sunday Brunch. The weather was wonderful and we enjoyed sitting in the covered outdoor area. The menu offered a wonderful variety of selections. Service was prompt and the food was terrific.

My wife and I went here for the first time before attending our grandson's performance at the North Carolina School for the Arts. We hoped for a good bistro dinner and got a great one. The menu was creative and the chef produced delicious results. Service was attentive and informed. We would recommend this restaurant with enthusiasm.

Family weekend at Wake Forest
Conveniently located a short drive off campus, Mozelle's was a great fit for our family. The menu had something for everyone, the place had a nice vibe and our waiter was excellent. We had a 6.30PM reservation and the restaurant was already lively. By 8.00PM there seemd to be a quite a line for walk-in's. Great place if you want something a little "different."
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Mozelle's definitely lives up to the awards that it has received over the years. I have found a new great place for any occassion. Our out of town guests enjoyed and we will be returning!

Excellent ingredients, flawlessly
Excellent ingredients, flawlessly prepared, and served by helpful and knowledgeable staff.
10/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is my second time visiting this restaurant. I liked, but did not love the food. I got the tomato pie which was too cheesy. Conversely, the accompanying cheese grits, while nice and creamy, were not cheesy enough. The lobster sloppy joe appetizer was good, but the sauce was too rich for my liking. My husband enjoyed his eggplant parmesan and my daughter her fried chicken.. We all loved the ambience. I will go again.

A Small Space That Works
Food superb. Watching the staff dance around one another in limited space yet able to serve their customers with grace and calm is impressive. We love the neighborhood feel and intimate dining.

the perfect birthday lunch
Took a good friend there for her birthday. Could not have been more perfect...perfect table....perfect food....perfect day. Oh... and did I say it was perfect??!

Who knew collards could be
Who knew collards could be so spectacular?! Mozelle's does Southern style with a gourmet twist better than anyone we've found. Their tomato pie is better than Mama's, rich and buttery and more than you should eat at one sitting! The menu descriptions made it hard to choose just one entree, and everyone in our group was more than happy with their selections. Desserts are made in-house, should you have room at the end of the meal. The atmosphere is urban and upbeat, employees are friendly and attentive, and you should go!
11/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
Fun and Good Food
Great menu and excellent food. Service is usually very good but as always depends on the wait staffer you happen to get.
Just a great place if you want something dependable and excellent.

This was my first time there
This was my first time there and it did not disappoint. They use fresh ingredients, local produce, and have a great wine list. I definitely recommend this place if you like southern cooking. Look forward to going back!

Great Downtown Restaurant
This was our first time eating here. The wait staff were extremely friendly. We loved the atmosphere and especially liked the window seats. The salads were good but nothing special. The entrees we tried, scallops and the shrimp and grits were very good though a bit salty. Good wine selection. The food + the atmosphere and great wait staff made for a wonderful evening. We will return!

Southern with a twist
Very interesting menu. Worldly take on basic Southern foods. Felt the signature meatloaf was good but it had the feel of reheated food. Would of liked a little fresher taste. Soup was excellent

always good southern food. great with friends. love the blankets in cold weather.
11/23/2013 4:00:00 PM
Nice date night
Pretty and intimate atmosphere. Split spring roll app and had hearty collard, pea and pork soup. Delish and comforting on a cold rainy night. Bottle of j lohr completed the meal. Will is a great server.
