Creative, great ingredients, reliably satisfying. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Tends toward the adventurous. Recommend the pescado a la macho (whole fried fish that you flake off with a fork, surrounded by shellfish). One of the better values in SF.

This was my fourth time at Pasion and each time I am so pleased with the ambiance, the tasty food, and the attentive waitpersons. The bisque with shrimp was exceptional and the ceviche delicious. A true delight!

this is my 2nd time went there w/my family, we have more than 7 people each time, so we sit on the same table both time....
the food is great, especially the Paella (sea food rice plate), little spicy with mixed fresh sea food....
it is a very good place for gathering, we will go again.

I came here for birthday brunch with a friend and I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant; it seemed like everyone was having a good time. It was pretty noisy inside, but that just added to the energy of the place. The food was delicious; had the ceviche trio with plantains to start and I ordered the Pasion Lomito sandwich with sweet potato fries while my friend got a brunch order I'm forgetting, although it did consist of eggs benedict. The sandwich was really flavorful & rich and the ceviche was good. And bottomless mimosas for $12? Not bad at all. I would come back again to try different ceviche & maybe a brunch item.

Went for brunch this past Sunday. We had a hard time finding parking because a street fair blocked off the entrance to some public parking nearby, but we called them and they were chill and saved our reserved table for us. We ordered the guacamole to start and it was served with perfect plantain, taro, and yucca chips. I ordered the hue is al horno and every bite was flavorful with just the right amount of spice and richness. The boyfriend had the tri-tip sandwich, of which I had a bite. The beef was tender and had an excellent rub. They kept my bottomless mimosas flowing: I never had to ask for a refill! All in all, it was a delicious brunch and we will be back.

Can't miss menu --great food!
I've tried the ribeye, the pork chop, the whole fish, the paella, the ceviche, various sides, this place has great food. Of course I didn't eat all these things in one seating but over several visits. :) Fortunately for me I live 5 minutes away and currently my default place to go for a nice predictable and great meal. There is dining available at the bar or you can get an easy reservation via Opentable. Service in my many visits has been consistently great and I've not had any problems with the attentive servers and staff. I will be back and bringing other friends each time.

I love Pasion
Every meal we've ever had here has been a 5 star meal. Ceviche was as fresh as ever. The drinks Pismo's were delicious. Don't leave without trying the lamb meatballs and the ceviche. We were wow-ed for sure. Latin cuisine that is fresh and innovative

Service & food
Great great service- forget his name! And the 2 benedicts we order were delicious
5/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Outstanding Latin themed cuisine
I chose this restaurant based on location and recommendations from Trip Advisor. I was so pleased to have an excellent dining experience. The turn ceviche was to die for! The Ahi Tuna dinner was incredible. Only complaint was the noise level. Made it tough talking during dinner.
5/29/2013 4:00:00 PM
The best tuna & ceviche!
This was the best tuna that we've ever had. Serving it over tiny lentils was so tasty. Loved the halibut ceviche too. We liked that they were served with fried plantain chips too. Wonderful flavors. The service was great too. Attentive & efficient but unobtrusive.

Consistently delicious food
I've been here for the forth time and it's always wonderful food. The ceviche and all the seafood dishes are tasty. The service has always been very good, and was outstanding this last time.

New on Irving
Good, creative and artistically presented Peruvian cuisine. Didn't sample the margaritas and other mixed drinks. Horrible parking. I recommend walking, taking the N- Judah or parking on Lincoln or near the park.

Fun had by all
We didn't walk in with very high expectations, but were looking for a good neighborhood spot to have a nice meal. We picked off the appetizer plates and ordered some drinks. First up was a quartet of ceviches which were quite good. The specialty drinks we ordered (non-alcoholic available as well) were all tasty. We also got the scallops (comes with 3, but added a 4th at suggestion of the waitress) which were tasty, the mussels (sauce was the best part), and prawns in tomato sauce (again, sauce better than the protein, but good). Other than being a little thrifty with the grilled bread (we requested a bit more and were easily obliged), we had a very enjoyable evening. The tres leches cake is also wonderful. We'd happily come again.

Had a super leisurely double
Had a super leisurely double date night. Waiter was available for questions orders, food and drinks were brought in a timely fashion. We never felt rushed for our orders and food was very tasty especially seafood.

Good eggs benedict
Honestly I chose this place for brunch so I could have bottomless mimosas and walk home. When I looked at the menu online, I knew I would be torn between the crab cakes benedict and the salmon benedict. Luckily my friend also wanted those things so we shared! I liked them both equally. The hollandaise sauce was slightly different than I'm used to, but it was good. Staff were attentive and filled my mimosa glass lots and lots of times. The only thing that I didn't find that great were the potatoes. Across the street at Irving Street Cafe they have the best potatoes (home fries) I have EVER had. So that's hard to beat. But I would go back to Pasion and try other things too!

A pleasant dinner
My wife and I really enjoyed dinner at Pasion. The restaurant is intimate and the modern interior design is done with great flair. We enjoyed a ceviche; my wife had the Paella and I had the rotisserie chicken... all superb.
6/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Once again, phenomenal
This place is known for it's ceviche, and not being a ceviche guy, I'm hooked. Everything about the food is out of this world. The service was professional, knowledgeable, and not in your face. I've been hear a handful of times before, and never disappointed.
7/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was great. Different flavors and touches upon many different Latin cuisines.
7/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great dinner in the inner sunset.
Everything about passion was excellent. The service was great and the staff is very knowledgeable, our server recommended a wine, which very tasty, he also made suggestions about our main courses and was spot on. The food is mouthwatering, I had duck on a bed of risotto and my fiancé had trout both were excellent, the flavors both complex and well balanced. The trio of the ceviche was excellent and the dessert ( that I had to take home, because I was so full) was scrumptious . All in all a great restaurant in the neighborhood. They also do brunches on Sunday, I can't wait to try it.
7/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Have a little Pasion on your date
I had a date at Pasion on Sunday night. Food was excellent and the atmosphere was lively. Not a quiet romantic date spot but perfect for a couple who are looking for an adventure and willing to spend a little extra for more delicious specialties like the Pasion Ceviche and the Halibut.
8/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
We really enjoyed all of the
We really enjoyed all of the food at Pasion...great ceviche, excellent halibut, deeeeelicious mango cheesecake! It was a little loud for my preference, but a great place for a nice, filling dinner! Very attentive servers too!
8/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lovely menu, great brunch, bottomless mimosas, dinner is great, people are great, drinks are great etc!

The Best Everything
Everything we ordered tasted wonderful. From the meatballs to the salmon tacos to the paella. Didn't care much for the beef heart, but everyone else loved it.
They need to hire more people for lunch. There was only 1 server for the entire restaurant and the Chef had to serve a few tables while the server waited tables and tended the bar. She's a jack of all trades, however, the wait for the check was a bit irritating, considering we had to get back to work. Other than that, the customer service was wonderful, food was superb.
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
2nd time visit
Great food. Great service. I recommend asking the server for his/her recommendations because the dishes were awesome.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Started with a Pisco Sour...always the way to start. Ceviche was good though not terribly flavorful, duck empenadas...to die for (had to order a second order) lamb albondigas also yummy and I'm not a lamb-lover. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought a delicious cheesecake. Our other dessert was a tres leches cake and had no flavor and wasn't worth the calories.
Overall, it is one of our favorite restaurants and we bring friends to try our neighborhood gem.

Peru in the Inner Sunset?
We picked this restaurant on a whim. We were really pleased with the service and the food. I'd recommend every dish. We had albondingas, wings, swordfish skewers, steak on fries, and the scallops. The scallops were fantastic. Our waiter was very accomodating of us and our child.
8/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
knowing what to order
ceviche and soup were outstanding. Po'boy could have been moist and with less salt. Presentation is excellent. Server/bartender was attentive, organized and very professional. Decor is great. It will take a few visits to figure out which dishes resonate.
8/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
My new favorite SF Peruvian!!
Food was excellent and service quite pleasurable. My boyfriend and I will be back for sure!!
8/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Yummy food, plates and tapas
Great food and vibe! Went for my Moms birthday for lunch. I had went to their other restaurant puerto 27 in Pacifica. Some of the same dishes with a few different Ingredients. Pasion was just as delicious. Great Pisco sours, duck empanadas to die for! Delicious. Would definetly go back for dinner. Notices the dinner menu was more expanded than lunch so I must experience it.

If your looking for a new twist on food, this is your place!
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
the food here is amazing!
We've been twice. The food I ordered on our first visit was so great that I had to get a second time, which means there's a ton of fantastic sounding food on the menu we've yet to explore and will have to go back many, many times.
9/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicious small plates
Try the lamb meatballs, scallops on plantain slices and semifreddo for dessert. I love that the chef comes out to talk to the customers, too. I'll definitely be back to this place!

A night in Peru
Me and my husband were in Peru some time ago and fell in love with Peruvian food.
None of the restaurants in SF offer anything even close . So when our friends, who just came back from their vacation in Peru, invite us to Pasion , we did not expect much.
I have to tell, that we all were pleasantly surprise!
Food was excellent ! I had Hamachi Seviche and Peruvian roasted chicken . Seviche was very tasty. Just a right combination of sour and spicy with a touch of sweetness . Chicken was to die for! Just the way they prepare it in Peru!
Juicy and spicy with almost forgotten flavor!!! OMG
Thank you Pasion! We will be back!
9/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Outstanding flavor combinations!
Good Latin good, heavily Peruvian. Fresh flavors, ever-changing menu. Outstanding service!
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food did not disappointment,
The food did not disappointment, but the noise level was extra ordinary. It was hard to have a conversation. Our server was prompt and attentive and making an effort to be heard over the noise. I had a better experience the first time I came to this restaurant, but would still return as food continues to be the main attraction.
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food mixes sweet with savory in every dish. The food is excellent. Each dish is different from the next, but equally enjoyable. I would recommend the restaurant to any friend I have.
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
2nd visit to Pasion in a nice corner of the Inner Sunset, and again was impressed with the creativity and seriousness of the kitchen in what is really a neighborhood place. Distinctive flavors from Peru (and Spanish influence?) separate Pasion from typical upper middle end tapas and South American restaurants. Especially, the appetizers are fantastic - duck empanada, meatballs, lobster salad.
10/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
Peru with panache
If you like ceviche you have a huge choice here. We tried a sampler of 4 kinds, and it was excellent. The main dishes were beautifully presented, and each was very flavorful. I understand that this restaurant is owned by the same folks who own Fresca. It's a step above Fresca, which has always been good. My only complaint is that the drinks were a bit pricey. If you can find a place to park, this is a great restaurant to try.
10/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
These folks do food well.
These folks do food well. First time there and it was delicious. I can not rave enough about the Quinoa Salad. Wow! While the Hamachi ceviche isn't what you'd find in Peru it was terrific to find on my plate. The scallops were sublime. The Pallea was wonderful, a hard dish to get right and these guys do it. I was watching other plates being served and they all looked great. The menu is designed for serial small plates. It can add up but it was worth it.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a gray time at Pasion. We have been there several times and each time the food is delicious. Would definitely recommend continued patronage.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
excellence when I needed it
I was hosting a business dinner meeting with colleagues from LA. They hadn't been to the Inner Sunset much, if at all. We had a reat dinner here, the service and the food were both EXCELLENT. The staff here are really professional and it helped us in our business meeting. I am taking more and more of my out of town friends here because this place exemplifies why the Inner Funset is a great place to be, and why I love living here. Thanks again to Pasion for the win.
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, outstanding service
Delicious Peruvian cuisine and very attentive, professional, and prompt service. The staff was knowledgable and helpful with suggestions. Outstanding cocktails too. Highly recommend.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Been here many times I'm a repeat customer because the good and service is on another level
11/2/2013 5:00:00 PM
This is serious cooking
The food is beautifully cooked, surprising (for me) in its use of ingredients, with an exciting balance between the best of European cuisine and the chef's own Peruvian and Andean origins. We were disappointed that the coconut risotto was not available but the potato stew was exceptional. My aunt had scallops and my wife and I both had the pork chop which was a point and delicious. I am not a great desert person but had the mango cheesecake with raspberry and mango coulis, and was surprised and very pleased by its lightness and the delicate understatement of sweetness. My aunt's purple corn creme brulee made me laugh it was so good, My wife went straight for the chocolate coconut bread pudding. An Argentinian malbec was perfect.

A treat for out of towners
Since we had a toddler and an infant with us, we chose to dine at Pasion for lunch in case the kids got fussy. It was perfect because it wasn't very crowded and we were able to enjoy our meal and not worry about bothering other diners. The trout was delicious, the duck empanadas were wonderful as well as the Remoulacha salad.
My brother enjoyed his Cuban pork sandwich, the crab sandwich was very good but my foccocia bread ended up soggy. Flavored were good, portions were large. Service was very good and thoughtful. I'm so glad my family visiting from New York enjoyed their dining experience at Pasion.
11/24/2013 4:00:00 PM
Pasion is one of those rare restaurants where the chefs passion meets quality ingredients and results in amazing dishes
11/26/2013 4:00:00 PM
Appetizers make you want to return
Soup is great, empanadas (duck) moist and flavorful with a smoked duck salad, cervicjhes - either chunky or thin sliced - are fantastic, mussels are tasty, but the very best is the albondigas (lamb meatballs in a truffle sauce): yum, yum!
11/30/2013 4:00:00 PM
Come here once in a while.
Come here once in a while. The food is delicious and the service is always great. Plus, can't dislike bottomless mimosas.
