We had the private room for a small(6) of us, s special dinner for dear friends who are leaving the islands.
The service was outstanding and the chef very generous, took the time to say "good by" and also comped
us some special appetizers.

The food was very tasty, and a good value. The smoked salmon hash appetizer was delicious!

The miso salmon was outstanding!
The miso salmon was outstanding! Half of us ordered it and we loved it! The person replenishing the water was very attentive and we all had a full glass whenever it ran low.

Duck salad was outstanding.
Duck salad was outstanding. Ravioli and Mongolian pork were also good. Disappointed that they did not have any escargot.

My favorite downtown venue
I frequent Epic when we have business visitors in town as the food is excellent and it's a short distance from my office. When I saw they were doing a Mother's Day lunch, we signed up immediately. The starter was an egg benedict using kalua pork instead of the Canadian bacon ... simply scrumptious! There were 3 entrees, a bacon wrapped meatloaf loco moco, miso glazed salmon with a furikaki musubi or quiche. Our party of four ordered the loco moco and the salmon. The loco moco was served over mashed potatoes, but it was excellent. I tasted the miso glazed salmon -- wow! The meal was capped off with carrot cake bread pudding ... I'm not a fan of bread pudding but it was simply delicious. I hope Epic does this again. Highly recommended!

First timer, great experience!
It was my first time dining at Restaurant Epic, and I must say it was "Epic" all around. The food was great, service was great, and ambience was great! On top of that, the pricing is quite affordable. I am definitely coming back again!

This was our second time dining at Epic and once again we were very pleased with the quality of the food, the level of service, and the reasonable prices. For three people we ordered 4 drinks, 5 pupus, and 2 desserts, and our bill was only around $90. No way you can order that many items at most places for under $100. The quality of the food is outstanding and the service is top notch. Someone is always around to top off your drinks, remove serving dishes, etc. and they are not even your waitperson. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Our daughter and her family
Our daughter and her family were visiting from California. One of her requests was to eat at Restaurant Epic. We had introduced them to this wonderful restaurant on a previous visit, and they had loved it then. As always, the food and service were excellent!

Special Father's Day menu
We were expecting to order off the standard menu that was shown on their website. However, because it was Father's Day they had a set 4 course menu. It turned out to be very good - options that we would not have chosen but were delicious! We will be back for the standard menu options soon!!

Not as good as Mother's Day
We were able to have both Mother's and Father's Day at Restaurant Epic. Mother's Day menu was certainly better than Father's Day. Both were really good deals, though.

Skip the pricey Waikiki Beach restaurants and saunter down to Restaurant Epic for a great time. The menu has kid-friendly selections, Asian-fusion foodie choices, and with their Happy Hour prices, you'll save yourself some money for drinks at the bar. My family of 8 was on vacation and we were lucky enough to have spent our last evening here for dinner.
A special shout out to our server Zhi who provided us several tasty recommendations including the seared ahi small plate, the short-rib ravioli, and the fish tacos with wasabi.
Although the neighborhood isn't the best, you'll be able to find parking on the street unlike Waikiki beach. Have fun!

1st visit June 29, 2013
First the restaurant is clean and well decorated, nice, modern, hip feel. Receptionist was very friendly and our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. He steered us to the brussel sprouts which were prepared in a way we've never seen, sliced, fried and served with some sort of red wine vinaigrette. Delicious. We also had the seafood curry, arugula & strawberry salad, twin bacon, wrapped lamb chops and the boneless beef short ribs with pablano mac & cheese. All very good and would order again. One note though, the beef short ribs were very salty. Less salt there and the meal was perfect. We enjoyed a bikini blond beer and nice glass of Dynamite Cabernet. Nice meal and highly recommend. Food and service were great.

start with the chinatown tea and you won't be disappointed. the escargot poppers are a must have and they're delicious, the torigashi seared ahi is light and good too. my other half got the miso salmon and i ordered the full moon ravioli and they came out a bit over cooked and broke apart way too easily. we ended our meal with the bacon cookies which were unique and savory and also got the peanut butter souffle.

Epic experience at Epic
Great food, excellent service, really good happy hour! Thought parking would be bad, but it wasn't . Highly recommend, going back tonight! Must try the escargot shooters!

Great Place, a Favorite!
Thought of Epic as a great place for 5 friends to get together for great food and conversation. Some other places were thought of but I felt would be too noisy for good conversation It was a very lovely night and the 4 hours(!) went by so fast. The food was so good. Appetizers, dinner and dessert, we ate family style to taste everything. It was ALL great. Not one bad or neutral dish. I would recommend eating family style. Our server is really good. He's a professional all the way. He added value to our overall experience!

We found this by accident
If they have the rissotto cake over sausage with and egg, you MUST try. Also, bread pudding with whiskey in the ice cream is a very smart dish.
One suggestion: this place would do very well with white tablecloth

I went to Restaurant Epic
I went to Restaurant Epic with a big group of friends and we had a great time. The food was amazing and there is something for everyone. We ordered the escargot, it was garlicky and delish!! We also tried the butternut squash potstickers, crispy risotto cake, braised beef short rib ravioli, and I'm embarrassed to say a few more too. The bacon chocolate chip cookie was incredible. The only bummer was when the check came. There were 5 couples in the party and they said they can only split the check three ways. If we're going to spend several hundred dollars on a dinner the restaurant should be more accommodating.

A must try...again...and again
We ordered a variety of small plates - Brussels sprouts, linguine, asparagus, butternut squash pot stickers, and escargot poppers. The flavors were fantastic! They have something for everyone - sliders, ahi tuna, bacon wrapper jalapeno tater tots, salmon, rib-eye, and cioppino, to name a few. Also try the desserts. I was not disappointed by the Jack 'n coke bread pudding. This is restaurant definitely a new favorite!

An "Epic" Dinner!
Restaurant Epic was a wonderful dining experience. We'd read about it and since it's in our neighborhood, decided to walk over for dinner. The menu offers both small and large plates which is a great feature. We shared a small plate (pork belly) as a first course and it was fantastic.
I stayed with another small plate for a second course, while my wife chose a large plate, which in this case was a bowl of cioppino. Again, we were thrilled with our choices and in particular, how well everything was seasoned. No salt or pepper was on the table, but happily, we didn't taste the need for any--a rare thing today, with sodium level awareness causing many chefs to under-season everything. The desserts were wonderful, too.

loved the food, but dessert was so good! must try the peanut butter chocolate molten cake.

Downtown eclectic food
Great food. A bit pricey. No parking. Have to find parking around downtown.

We were looking for a place away from the crowd in Waikiki
This restaurant was the perfect find!
I recommend it

An epic meal, an amazing restaurant
We actually picked this restaurant initially almost as a joke. We thought the name was funny. Turns out that menu had a wide variety of interesting food. The menu was rather different from most of the places we ate while in Oahu. I have a food allergy and they were very accommodating with it. We had the bacon wrapped lamb as a small plate, and the blackened ribeye as the entree. They both were very outstanding dishes.

Located within the downtown
Located within the downtown area therefore rather quiet neighborhood after working hours. Food and service were superb. Parking very reasonable after in municipal lot or free street parking. Recommend the fresh fish of the day.

Excellent cuisine, service and ambiance once inside the restaurant. Went at 6:30 on a Saturday night and parked on the street down the block. We had the ahi and pork belly appetizers and both were delicious. My cioppino was excellent with crab, scallops, fish and clams in a tasty tomato broth. Service was friendly and professional. Definitely will return.

Great find downtown
This is an unlikely fit for Chinatown, but the food is great and the prices are reasonable. Imaginative dishes that defy categorization.

One of the best in Honolulu
I can't say enough about Chef Brian and his delectable and creative food. We tried small as well as large plates at very reasonable prices. Full of flavor and very generous portions. I would come back in a heart beat, save some money and enjoy the great service.

Great food, watch the portions
Went here with a girlfriend and shared 5-6 small plates but share the larger portions for a proper meal as not all small plates are appopriate for sharing. Great food, nice ambience, confit pork belly is very morish!

A Diamond in the Rough
Lets face it, China Town has some shady spots but this place is a gem. Very well decorated, great ambiance! It was our 5th Wedding Anniversary and we wanted to try a place we had never tried. We had our infant daughter with us and they were very accomodating. The restaurant is nice and quiet. The service was outstanding! Food was a mix of American and Japanese; definitely asian inspired. highly recommend for an Anniversary or just for a date night. Nice selection of different wines and beers. They even had Chimay Red (a plus), wish they offered more Belgian beers but I can't complain.

great get together
The food here is certainly EPIC! It was the first time for my group of friends (5 total). We all decided to order and share. We ordered pretty much everything on the appetizer menu. They were all great, especially the BBQ egg rolls, butternut squash ravioli and short rib ravioli. The steak bruschetta was a little chewy for us, but the flavor was there. Main courses were short rib mac n cheese (awesome), thai jumbalaya with seafood (also tasty), but best of all was the dessert...chocolate peanut butter molten cake....such a great finish to a great meal...oh and not to forget the Chinatown iced tea...subtle, but good...

Great place to enjoy Downrfestivals
We had a great meal, inventive drinks and excellent service. Mahi and vegetable risotto were perfect along with the creative Caesar salad and fried egg.

This meal was truly EPIC
What a wonderful place this is. Our waiter, Aaron, was pure genius at making us feel like his only customer while handling what seemed like the whole restaurant, all by himself! He was on top of EVERYTHING. The meal itself was brilliant in choices for restaurant week tasting. Perfectly prepared and presented. The 6 minute egg touch on the caesar salad was unique and tasty. I hate meatloaf, but because the two main course choices on the prix fixe menu were salmon and meatloaf, I opted for meatloaf because I eat salmon all the time. I now LOVE meatloaf…EPIC meatloaf! Wrapped in bacon, topped with sunny side up egg and grilled asparagus, all on a bed of polenta. I would eat this same meal three nights in a row - it was that good!
11/17/2013 4:00:00 PM
I really enjoyed my first dining experience here. Our waiter was a little aloof, but I guess it's because we ordered from the pre-fixe menu. The food was awesome, and we were surprised that we liked the salmon dish more than the meat.
