Gluten Free Menu---Best I've Seen
We chose this restaurant because of it's gluten free menu. The gluten free pizza was outstanding! The other members of our party selected from the regular menu and were equally as satisfied with their dishes. The wait staff was very attentive and cordial.

Such a wonderful time at Rubirosa. At first they tried seating us in the back by a noisy kitchen but when we requested the recently emptied table up front, they quickly accommodated us. Great food. Pizza is the best but so were the soups and salads. I can't wait to get back there.

Rubirosa had a wonderful gluten free menu for my husband with a wheat allergy. The food was amazing and my entire family that includes three kids ages 15, 12 and 7 all enjoyed our visit.

Almost didn't go but glad we did
It was humid, hot, about to rain--awful--and the lady at the reservation counter told me that I needed to wait outside, and to only come back after everyone in my party showed up. Not exactly good customer service (especially since there were plenty of empty tables at the time). But we decided to give it a shot anyway, and were glad we did. The smoked salmon pizza sounds strange but was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. FYI, most of the dishes are large and can be shared. We saw the table next to us (with two large men) returning an uneaten burger because they'd ordered appetizers before that and were already full.

Took my parents on a Sunday around 1pm. The restaurant was quiet and pleasant. We were seated right away. Food was delicious - they offer both their lunch menu and brunch options on Sundays which is really nice for those that just don't want eggs. Will be back.

great food, a little noisy
we sat at a table in the front corner, right next to the door....it would have been fine except the door had a big curtain around it to keep the AC inside so EVERY TIME someone walked in the restaurant, the huge curtain flew open and would literally cover one of the seats (which my cousin was sitting on)...we asked them to tie the curtain back which helped....the door itself must have been broken or something because EVERY TIME it opened and closed, it made the loudest, most obnoxious squeaking sound ever....not sure if the people working noticed it or not but it was very annoying since it went on throughout our entire dinner...otherwise, the food was amazing...waitress was really nice...

Always love Rubirosa! Vodka pizza and meatballs are delicious.

We were late but..
We go to Rubirosa every time we go to NYC... This time, we went with friends and their kids who were in NYC for the weekend... They arrived 45 minutes after the reservation time, but the people at Rubirosa were nice enough to keep our table until they arrived, even though the place was packed and under assault... We really appreciate that gesture... The pizza was fantastic as always...

What a find!
We were looking for a lunch spot in Little Italy that was authentic, with great food that was not overly pricey, and we found all that and more at Rubirosa. The ravioli were the best i have ever had, the risotto was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the spaghetti and meatballs were great too. The service was attentive, friendly and ideal . I would go back to Rubirosa the next time I return to NYC!

professional chef and 2 foodies
We are born and raised NYC ppll who know food well. Our group consists of a long term pro. Chef and some serious foodies.
This place is a true keeper. Great pizza - by far the best for super- thin crust anywhere. For those of you who don't love a lot of bread (or those who are too terrified to eat it), and for those who shy away from doughy pizza, this is for you!! All you carb-conscious females- you are safe here!! Excellent salads, fabulous pastas- even the chicken did not disappoint.
A definite "must go," for anyone who wants a damn good meal, AND at a reasonable price.
Attentive service, no attitudes. Warm and welcoming environment.
Do yourself a favor and just go!! You'll thank me, I promise.

Having eaten in Little Italy numerous times I didn't think it could get any better, however Rubirosa proved me wrong. My family loved it, pizza thin crust to perfection, seafood, risotto and chicken pram all fantastic. Dessert flourless chocolate cake along with perfect cannoli made this worth the trip. Highly recommended.

A must when in New York
We have made it a habit to visit Rubirosa's when we come to New York. Love the neighborhood it's in and love the quaintness of the restaurant. Took our granddaughters with us and they loved the pizza. My favorite is the spaghetti and meatballs, so good. Would recommend anyone visiting here.

A MUST for locals & tourists!
In order for me to be a repeat customer at your restaurant it has got to be pretty good. I live in a city filled with spectacular food options. I will always go back to Rubirosa and consider it a top italian restaurant (casual).
Everything here is a good, literally. Portions are massive, meant to share. The chicken parm is massive and delicious. Mozz sticks are spectacular. Rice balls are excellent. Stuffed artichoke is GREAT. Rubirosa salad is unique and delicious. All the pastas are great, especially the regular old spaghetti and meatballs (its perfect). The pizzas are also great, especially the vodka pizza.
If you make it to dessert, you are better than I. Enjoy.

I think this is one of the best pizza's in NYC. The restaurant is small so get a reservation. The waiter tried his best to move us in and out at a faster pace than we were ready for. Its a noisy place to have a conversation.

Great food in Little Italy
Among the beaten path of Mulberry Ave is Rubirosa, a great little place with amazing food! I judge every red sauce place I eat at by their spaghetti and meatballs and this place did not disappoint. Very tasty food and excellent service will bring me back here the next time I'm in NYC.

Great place! Just a little too warm on a hot night.
8/30/2013 12:00:00 AM
best pizza in town, poor service
the food was delicious, in particular the thin crust pizza with an incredible tomato sauce. Too bad the service was awful (we waited for a table for 20 minutes eventhough we had a booking and at least 10 tables were available, then our waiter was rude and their was a mistake in the order...). It's worth the visit anyway because the place is nice (in particular the bright room at the back) and the food is excellent.

Love this place! Recommend
Love this place! Recommend it to everyone. Great casual date spot or dinner with friends. LOVE the pizza and pastas, all are delicious. Make a res so you don't have to wait. I like to sit in the very back room by the pizza oven... it's a little quieter.
9/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Three adults for dinner sampled appetizers, entrees and pizza. Excellent antipasta, average chicken parm and stuffed calimari. Huge portions of food. The pizza. Half regular, half vodka sauce was wonderful and stands up to the best New York slice or pie. I would go back to this fun restaurant but probably would not venture far beyond the pizza.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food is amazing at Rubirosa. We had a tie dye pizza that was incredible. The salad portions are huge and the eggplant parmigania as an appetizer was great. The atmosphere is very cozy. Definitely recommend this place!
9/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
The best pizza ever!
Rubirosa was recommended to me by friends and it did not disappoint. The thin crust pizza was the best I have ever eaten. It was accompanied by a side of black kale. Absolutely delicious. Great server too. I will go there again when in NYC.
9/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Pizza, pizza, pizza
I've been here twice (and, truthfully, have never tried the non-pizza entrees), but the vodka and white pizzas are out of this world. Also recommend the rice balls. Service is wonderful!
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
second time around
When I first ate at Rubirosa, I knew right away that I had to find a way to get back there. The specialty salads, soups, and pizza are fantastic. The hostess was sweet and seated us by the window and our waitress was a doll. I'll be back.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great Italian neighborhood place. Busy make a reservation. If you're staying in the area it's great. I had an excellent ricotta ravioli in butter parmesan sauce. My husband had chicken cacciatore that was bigger than the plate. Wine list as I recall is respectable. Warm friendly cozy neighborhood joint.
10/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Found Rubirosa on Open Table...asked our hotel concierge what they thought and they gave it thumbs up. My wife and son split a small and I couldn't resist putting away a large. Great crust --- very good toppings. We could have gone back again. We'll return on our next trip.

True to Italy
We were recommended this restaurant by two different New Yorkers and were glad that we listened to them! The pizza was very similar to what we sampled in Napoli - thin crust, just the right amount of toppings, delicious! The arugula salad and kale side that we ordered were also tasty. The service was excellent, we were catching up with old friends and they let us sit, chat and enjoy our meal without feeling rushed inspite of the crowds waiting for tables. It was dining experience just like in Italy.
I would recommend a reservation. It filled in quickly. Families, groups and dates were all co-mingling in this restaurant, with a cozy, Italian feel. I will definitely be back, and next time I'm ordering the cannoli.
10/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Being gluten-free, I have missed eating (good) pizza, meatballs, arancini and all of those comforting Italian foods that I used to enjoy. Rubirosa has given all of those things back to me with their gluten-free menu, and each dish is great!
This is third time that I have dined at Rubirosa, and both gluten-free and gluten-loving friends relish the food at this place. The service is reliable, and the food coming out of the kitchen is well-timed.
Go eat here. You can thank me later.

If you want to experience the best Pizza in NYC with great service this is the place for you. Make sure you book as it is always busy but that makes for a great atmosphere. Cocktails are pretty good too!

My teens request for a revisit!
Small, narrow restaurant with neighborhood gem, nothing fancy...just charming. Bring your appetite, food is crazy good, fresh, ..from appetizers to main course and don't forget the thin crust pizza!
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Simple but awesome
Everything was excellent. Menu is fairly traditional but has pockets of creativity. Very cool but small dining room. Lots of energy and excitement. I don't see how anyone who loves thin crust pizza and traditional Italian food would no love his pace. One for the most njoyable meals I've ever had in NYC.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
Pizza and Pasta Just Right
Neighborhood gem serves excellent pizza and pasta at reasonable prices. Staff is friendly and attentive. This place is nestled in a quiet neighborhood just north of Little Italy. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

Doesn't get any better or
Doesn't get any better or more real than Rubirosa Old New York feel with new New York quality. Excellent!
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything from the salad through the dessert was wonderful. Mushroom pizza was the highlight for me, while my dining partner really enjoyed the spaghetti and meatballs. Some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten, just a great place.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
The pizza was really delicious. We also ordered the rice balls which were amazing. Would definitely come back to this place in the near future.

I love arugula pizza!!!!
Don't be intimidated by the size of the pizza!!! It's so think and tasty that you going to ask for more!!! Meat balls make a great started, and the not flour chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream is the perfect finish!!!

Great find in Nolita
Rubriosa was a great find on my trip to NY. I love the neighborhood feel and the cool vibe. The food is fantastic. I loved the pizza--I got the classic since it says it's a 50 year old recipe. People have commented on the vodka pizza, I would have liked to have tired that too. Very friendly service too!!!
11/13/2013 4:00:00 PM
Amazing food!! Best pizza
Amazing food!! Best pizza and chicken parm I've had in a while. Artichoke was amazing as well! I can't wait to go back.

Good Italian food and gelato
Found positive reviews about this nice little restaurant on the Internet. I'm glad we did it!
We are about 1/2 hour late for our reservation, but they accommodated us.
We ordered the lasagna for 2. When it first came out we were a little worried because it looked kind of small for a meal for two. The lasagna was good and quite filling.
The gelato was excellent! The pumpkin gelato and carmel gelato were my favorites.

Not the best gluten free pizza
All our dishes were amazing but the gluten free pizza pales in comparison to even the frozen kind. They really need to update the recipe of the crust. It tastes the way gluten free pizza use to taste when people were first trying to come up with alternative doughs. This one is too dense and over powers the sauce and cheese. The gluten free pasta was good though, meatballs outstanding and the salad was amazing.
11/20/2013 4:00:00 PM
The service was excellent and steered us away from ordering too much food, as the smaller size orders were more than enough. We had a salad, a pizza, and pasta. All were excellent. Prices were very reasonable. We especially liked the fact that there was a decent bottle of wine for $35. I would highly recommend Rubirosa.

Loved this place. In a city full of amazing restaurants, I worked hard to find something special. This was a highlight of our trip. Very quaint and vibrant. The food was beyond wonderful. We had the Vodka pizza - mostly because others recommended it. WOW!!!!! So delicious. The crust was perfectly thin with enough chewiness and crunch. The sauce was special. We also ordered the Sunday Sauce which had several meats and a delicious sauce which we had over spaghetti. We shared a bottle of Italian wine and loved very bite, sip, crunch and moment of our experience.

We now have a new number one for Pizza. Must go back and try the rest of the menu.

Try to request seating away from the kitchen as there was something in the air that kept burning our eyes - almost as if we were cutting onions in a room filled with smoke, although you couldn't see the smoke. The vodka pizza is my absolutely favorite pizza in the world - it's amazingly delicious. The beet salad was also delicious. Can't go wrong here, especially with pizza. YUM!

Real neighborhood gem!!
As soon as you walk in, you know you have discovered a hidden gem....along with a cool crowd of others! The place was packed but felt cozy....like you were in your favorite local Italian restaurant. This was a welcome feeling since we had been traveling for several days. Food was excellent, service was friendly and terrific. We felt like we were regulars!
Don't miss an opportunity to experience this place with close friends or family!

We had a great meal at Rubirosa.
We had a great meal at Rubirosa. We arrived late, and they had already given our table away. It was a busy night, with lots of rain outside, so it took over an hour in a cab to go 3 miles from midtown.
We ordered a salad to share, so yummy and fresh tasting. Loved this salad, i believe it was the house salad. We split the rabe and sausage pizza. Excellent. I would strongly recommend this place. The staff was great to accommodate us.
