I had dinner at Gazalas last
I had dinner at Gazalas last weekend and overall it was great! The food was delicious, the service was very friendly and helpful. The best thing we tried was the flaky pastry filled with cheese and spinach, we also had a whole fish and it was amazing. The only downside was that it it was really noisy, but it was a Saturday night so I guess its fine. And also, we sat right across the kitchen window and could hear all the Spanish talking through all the noise (which is weird for a druze restaurant) and every time we asked our waitress for some bread we saw her practically bagging for it... Hmmm... I thought bread is free everywhere. Nevertheless I liked it and will be back!

Nice atmosphere. Shrimp and fish were amazing. Meats were ok. Service was polite but very slow. We had a very long slow meal. Good, but not as good as previously.

Food is excellent
The food was superb. But the place was a bit to noisy for my taste. So if you don't have to have a serious conversation as was the case here for me so OK..But want to eat really good food and fresh, this is the place to go.

We keep coming back to Gazala's with different friends who thank us for bringing them there. The food is great Middle-eastern Druze specialties. Ask the waitresses and they'll tell you about Druze food, culture, history, etc. The service is friendly and competent. There are a few outdoor tables which we haven't tried yet.

The food at Gazala's is sensational
The food at Gazala's is sensational! Everything was delightful and the portions are gracious...The place is charming, quaint and definitely worth visiting. Near the American Natural History Museum, so, very convenient for lunch or dinner before or after... Love visiting this establishment. The Servers are friendly, just a little slow about checking in on you and coming back to the table...otherwise, everything else is stellar!

Started out (7PM) with a good noise level, but got a bit loud by 9:30PM.
Food and service were very good to excellent, as always.

The food is super and the service is excellent. We were there for dinner one night and had 2 extra diners and they were able to accommodate us even thought the restaurant was very busy. Every time I take someone new there its a pleasure to see how delighted they are with the food.

Perfect neighborhood spot!!
Our server was perfect - she had good recommendations (everything that she suggested and we ordered was amazing!), she was attentive, but not obnoxious, and timely. The food was delicious - can't wait to go back!!

Good for the park and museums
A great place for dinner before Shakespeare in the Park or after the Natural History museum. Eclectic wine list with some choices from Israel.

Great appetizers and dessert
The appetizers were all very good (the boureka was amazing), and it has one of my favorite desserts ever at the UWS location: the Osh Al-Saria (yogurt pudding with oranges & rose water). The entrees, however, are eh - the special lamb was too salty, and the mixed grill was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. If possible I'd recommend ordering mostly mezes.
Atmosphere is low key but classy enough, and it was no problem having (6-10 yr old) kids there.

don't miss out on the pudding!
This was a lovely intro to Druze cooking; everything was prepared in a very affable, comfort food style that went hand-in-glove with the Mediterranean, and more specifically, Israeli ingredients and preparation. My large group oohed and ahed over the Gazala's Platter which gave you a nice taste of the hot and cold mezes; the fascinating bread could take an entire review by itself. Think Ethiopian and then shrink it to crepe thickness, but with the stretchy softness almost of cloth. The texture was wonderful; it had a slight char to the bottom, and a melt-in-your mouth goodness I just couldn't get over, except to insist on dipping it in every dish I could. The mains were good; the pudding with orange and rosewater is not to be missed.

Will Dine Here Again & Again.......
Gazala was great!!!! I loved the food and the service was great. We were a party of 8 and we all loved everything - even my picky teens. I would definitely recommend it.

Good Israeli Meal on UWS
Enjoyed a low-key, reasonably priced dinner. Delicious Israeli salad and Gazala Platter. Efficient, friendly service. Also, very convenient to Museum of Natural History and Central Park.

2nd time there in 2 weeks.
This was my second time eating here in 2 weeks. The food is so fresh and light. I could make a meal from just the appetizers, but then I would have to skip the lamb kababas. My friend ordered the whole fish. She was a bit sqimmish about the head. Without batting an eye, the waiter expertly filleted the fish at the table. I would go there again and again. Last week were were 3 people, this time 7. Both times were great.
Their other restaurant Gazala Place is great for theater goers and is BYOB.

The place is great and the food is delicious! Try the lamb dishes or the shrimps... they're yummy!!!

Great Middle Eastern Food
We had a round table for six and everyone loved the food and ambiance. The nuance of Israeli Druse spicing was quite distinctive. Would definitely return. Come hungry!

Authentic and Delicious
I love this place! Everything is good, all the time, but in particular don't miss: the meat cigars, Hummus Mosabahah, the spinach borekah and the chicken kebab dinner.

Solid neighborhood Mediterranean
Split four Meze dishes, each was homemade and terrific. Our table had the lamb and chicken kebabs, perfectly cooked
Simple fare well done!

I didn't know falafel could taste that good. Amazing food all around.

Great Druze food (Middle Eastern but slightly different spices). Their bourekas are the best - wonderful dough with terrific fillings - cheese, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes. Their outdoor seating is limited but it was OK for a gorgeous fall day. The service is helpful and friendly and they like to answer your questions about Druze cooking. I've had just about everything on their menu and its always excellent.

Great food great decor
This is my second time at Gazalas and it great.
The wait staff is great and very nice and the food is amazing.
The only thing is that the sangria was pretty terrible and no one cleaned the table as the food is good but can get messy.
I'll be back tho!

Very good ethnic restaurant!
The food is very good, and the portions are small. The 'pita' is really a fabulously thin, fresh Lavash bread.
We enjoyed several appetizers and Tabouli Salad-Excellent flavor and fresh!

Best hummus (try the mushroom)
Best hummus (try the mushroom) and chicken kebabs we've ever tasted. Ultra thin pita is amazing. They only cook with olive oil, great for folks with soy allergies. Baklava is cinnamon-y deliciousness. Our new favorite restaurant.

Never too much...
.. of Gazala's to me. Good setting, friendly people, quiet (maybe because I usually go at 5:30 pm), convenient location, interesting food. Glad to know them.

Food was excellent!
This restaurant puts the Mise in Druse. One the best restaurants on the Upper West Side.

My friend had a delicious lentil soup; I had terrific hummus - among best ever. And there are a variety of sandwich types I hadn't seen before and those we had were also delicious. Highly recommend for lunch.
