One of my Go To places
My go to Morrocan restaurant. Enough said! From the moment you walk in you are transported to another land of genies and silk and velvet cushions and magic carpets. Best place to go for couscous and tagines, birthday celebration, family dinner, and the most beautiful belly dancer. One of my favorite places!

A wonderful surprise!
We were very surprised with the ambiance. The service was outstanding and the food was very good. I would highly recommend it.

I definitely enjoyed this restaurant! Very vibrant colors and warm feel to the room. It makes you feel like you are inside of a tent and I was about ready for a camel to walk right through the restaurant. The service was amazing with a friendly staff and live talented entertainment! I would definitely return and suggest this spot to everyone looking for a great place to dine is San Fransisco!

(Very very good, and what fun!)
(el-Mansour is the best Moroccan restaurant in SF. It is reasonably priced considering the outstanding food, service, and atmosphere.
Very friendly staff that clearly works very hard!

An Arabian Night in San Francisco
This restaurant was recommended by a SF City College student, who was born in Morocco. She said that it was a unique experience, and that was an understatement. The El Mansour is very well hidden, a block off Geary, in the Richmond District. We entered the simple door and came into a Moroccan sultans tent. Imagine coming in out of the cold fog, on quiet residential street into a scene out of Lawrence of Arabia. The decoration, music, server and belly dancing all created the illusion. The food was authentic, good and plentiful. Early on a Tuesday night, we were the only patrons, so the belly dancer performed only for us. We felt like rahonored guests or perhaps characters in Arabian Nights. It was a unique and delightful evening.

When only the very best will do
Apart from actually being in Morocco everything was truly authentic .
The server greeted us with a smile that instantly made me feel very welcomed.
There was a wonderful feeling in the atmosphere as if being in the home of a beloved friend.
Our server was so relaxed yet professional that his timing on everything , including his attention to detail, was brilliant. He cared for each and every one of us, his patrons. We truly felt loved and very special by this wonderful person.
The food was so perfect in every way, appearance , auroma , texture and flavor, that there is nowhere else in the city of San Francisco to rival it. I believe that someone , somewhere has to be the best and this restaurant , El Mansour , is it !!

We're not in The City anymore.
This is a kool spot for a romantic dinner, group event or just try something new. The ambiance is super kool. The walls and ceilings are covered in Moroccan inspired material. You'll actually feel like your eating in a desert oasis. There's also a belly dancer! You are also encouraged to eat with your hands, but have the option to eat with silverware. Finally, what's really important. The food I'd YUMMY !
5/30/2013 4:00:00 PM
The combination of everything made for a memorable and fun experience worth repeating. The servers were kind and accommodating. The food was tasty though the delivery from course to course seemed rushed (better than taking too long I suppose!). The belly dancer was the icing on the cake - good at working the crowd and easy on the eyes.

All 18 of us enjoyed a vibrant and fun-filled evening at El Mansour.

B-day party fun
We had a great time at El Monsour. The food and service was very good and the atmosphere was lively. The belly dancer was also great. I would say the food was a little rushed and the bread not very tasty. Everything else was great.

Gem hidden in San Fran
Excellent food and service. A little off the beaten path but well worth the trip. The dancers were excellent !!

Great Food & Entertainment
The food was very well prepared if somewhat standard Moroccan food. The belly dancing was the best I have seen over the years. The staff was very attentive.

A great time was had by all
We went to El Mansour to celebrate my husbands birthday. It was empty when our group of five arrived at 7pm on a weeknight, but several groups arrived at the same time, including a group of 11. The waiter was charming but a lot of time passed between each course. The food was wonderful and plentiful, and it is not a cuisine you want to rush through, but slower than we would have liked. Other than that, no complaints. They easily accommodated the vegetarian in our group and everyone was very satisfied with their entrees. We were there one of the two nights a week when the belly dancer performs, and she was excellent. It was a great way to celebrate a birthday. The dessert tray included a chocolate-filled pastry with a candle. Nice!

I was not expecting this place to be this wonderful! The belly dancing show made it very entertaining and a more memorable experience.

Favorite Restaurant Experience
The last time I had been to this restaurant, I had left with an image of a lavish, royal and taste bud exploding experience. When I decided to take my girlfriend a couple of weeks ago, I realized things might have changed or I might have blown it up in my head. I was wrong. Dead wrong. Everything was perfect. Beginning to end. Once you enter through those restaurant doors, you enter a Morroccan palace where you're treated like Morrocan royalty, fed until you burst.

Great For Groups & Kid-Friendly
Came to El Mansour with a group of 9 adults, a toddler and a newborn. The waitstaff was excellent! Attentive and friendly, they don't have a kids menu, but it's family style so plenty for the toddler to eat, plus they bought out extra special food just for her. The belly-dancer adds a wonderful dose of entertainment and truly sets the ambiance! When it came to the bill, we had a combinations of credit cards and cash, and the waitstaff split everything up with no issues. I always get anxiety when you have that many adults and different forms of payment, but the staff didn't blink an eye and made everything work out. The food is tasty and plentiful. Be sure to bring dollar bills for the belly-dancer!

Came here to celebrate my birthday and had a great time because of the belly dancing! The menu is somewhat limited and food was ok, but what made our night was the entertainment.

Moroccan for real
Once through the beautifully tiled doorway, you might as well be in Fez. Hospitality washes over you and you have been ushered into an evening of traditional food, music, and customs from Africa. Meals are pre-fixed but you do have a choice of entree. We had lamb which was cooked delectably in three different ways. All around us, the food was extraordinary and plentiful. The coucous was the finest grain and delicious. Bastilla was traditional and perfectly reproduced with chicken. Harira to start was excellent. Then the belly dancer...I was hesitant being a woman. She was very artistic and talented and quite respectful to all parties. This is a gem of a place and has earned it's credit for an authentic Moroccan experience.

Best Moroccan food anywhere on the planet. Way better than the food I had in Morocco! Whenever friends visit SF we always bring them to El Mansour. Its a beautiful restaurant, a great experience, and tremendous food. (I could do without the belly dancer though)

AuthenticMoroccan neighborhood spot
Just returned from Morocco and had a hankering for Pastilla, Couscous and Tajine. El Mansour was delicious and authentic in a warm, hospitable setting. Friendly waitstaff. Worth a trip to the Avenues!!!

Call to find out dancer's schedule!
I had been for my birthday and wanted to go back for my ten year anniversary, primarily to recreate the decadence of eating delicious food while watching the dancers. Unfortunately, the dancing wasn't scheduled to start until well after we were done with our meal. The food, as always, was crazy good and was still a lovely romantic evening but I was disappointed to miss the show.

Great food, great atmosphere, great fun. We've been there a number of times but not recently. They give you a fork now. Before everyone ate with fingers. It was a little messy but part of the fun!

Loyal costumer for over 10 years
I first went here when I was 14 years old, back when it was at its (next door) location. I always recommend it when my friends head to the city. It is my favorite restaurant - bar none. And as a belly dancer myself, I appreciate the authenticity of the food, the ambiance, and the welcoming atmosphere.

This was fun
Tried El Monsour for the first time for a friends birthday. Moroccan ambience was great, staff was friendly and attentive, making great menu suggestions. The food was delicious and presentation was great. Would return, and already craving the chicken with lemon and olives. The belly dancer was appropriate and added to the ambience.

A great night for Moroccan Food
My father has been coming to this restaurant for 20 years and took me here last week when I was in town.
It's a warm inviting location with relaxing small tables around a central area.
The salad was a highlight: The combination of flavors, marinades was amazing.
Very nice Lentil soup. The main course (we had Lamb and Chicken) was outstanding...
Then came the belly dancer. It was fun, not serous or akward to watch, and it really added a nice air to the night.
Overally ,I'd highly recommend if you're "in the mood" for something a little different.

A wonderful destination
I invited ten friends to meet me at El Mansour for dinner after a Friday night at the Dw Young Museum.
Our group ranged from 13 to 68. It was a very busy packed evening but the atmosphere was festive and our wait was short.
Even with a reservation, you do wait because people don't want to leave.
The host was gracious and welcoming. Settling into our banquettes and figuring our the seating was the only
challenge. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The lentil soup was perfect. The lamb and chicken with honey, almonds and eggplant were succulent and tasty. The cinnamon chicken pastry was warm and delicate.
They provides for the vegetarian in our group easily. I will be back!!

Curate's egg - good in parts
We had a fun evening and arrived with great anticipation, everything pointed to a good time. Great atmosphere, surroundings and loud buzz. This is not for a quiet romantic tryst.
The dancing was fun and involved the audience.
The biggest disappointment was the main course - We both had lamb served in two ways. mine was lamb with aubergine (egg plant). couldn't finish as eggplant (2 large slices) were too oily and the shank of lamb although fall off the bone tender was tasteless. My husband's was the same.
This is such a shame as the other courses were as expected from Moroccan cuisine aromatic and full of flavour.
