A little annoyed that we couldn't
A little annoyed that we couldn't have the Happy Hour menu in the dining room prior to our dinner. Other than that annoyance the experience was great. Excellent food & great service.

comfortably relaxing, prompt appropriate service, flavorful food prepared and seasoned perfectly to capture the true taste of what you eat. Good job team, our new favorite spot.

Consistently Very Good
Wildwood is one of my "go to" restaurants when in Portland. I took 2 business associates from out of state there this week who were impressed by both the Halibut and Rib Eye. We sat in the bar area as we got there before the dining room opened up but we ordered from the full dinner menu - atmosphere was comfortable, laid back, and perfect for business discussion.

All in our party of five enjoyed the food, drink and service. Wildwood is an awesome local restaurant, one of the first with a farm to fork philosophy. They do a great job.

Alive and Well
We hadn't been to Wildwood in years, but had a fabulous meal. Food was honest, flavorful and delicious. Service was attentive and friendly and the ambience remains great. It stays true to its localvore ethos as well. Well done Wildwood.

Great care goes into every aspect of dining at Wildwood, and it shows. Attractive decor, beautiful food, even the dishes are beautiful. The amuse-bouche was limeade, delicious and the perfect greeting on a hot summer's evening. It was difficult to choose from the menu, so many things on it sounded interesting and appetizing. So glad I saved a little room for a dessert of raspberry/cava sorbet.

Although I live on the east coast, I always look forward to a trip to Portland just so I can come eat here. This was my fifth time but first post-Schreiber. I have to say I don't understand people squawking about the drop in quality. The food was at least as good, if not better than before. Ah, some people are just creatures of habit. Well the mussels were definitely better than before and the wine list spectacular as always. Thanks for being there.

Attentive servers without
Attentive servers without hovering - we had a relaxing evening in a lovely environment. Extremely accommodating with gluten allergy and vegan meals. Exceptional meal, excellent wine choice.

Excellent food but very noisy
Loved the food and the location. When the restaurant is full with exuberant people, the noise level is so high that everyone is shouting and you can't hear your table mates or have a conversation. This has happened every time we have eaten at Wildwood. If the food weren't so tasty, I might not return. There is outdoor seating, but it is limited and fills up early with happy hour. When the restaurant is full, service is slower.

Too many mistakes
We enjoyed Wildwood on a previous trip to Portland and looked forward to to another fine dining experience. We ordered cocktails, only to discover a bug in my wife's glass. The waiter promptly corrected the problem and replaced her drink. When dinner arrived, we both had the same entree. My wife's was fine, but my chicken was not fully cooked. I returned it for more cooking time, and was very pleased with the dish after it was prepared correctly. When the check arrived, there were two errors (not in my favor) including a charge for the original and replacement cocktails brought to my wife. Despite these mistakes in food and drink prep, and the billing errors, we did enjoy the final results - which is why I rate 4 stars, not 3.

Review: Wildwood Restaurant
I know the restaurant well and find it a delightful place, It can be very noisy on occasion which makes conversation extremely difficult in parts of the restaurant and Saturday evening was one of those occasions. In other respects it is "top notch" and one cannot fault a restaurant for the loudness of its customers! Staff and food excellent as always. The adequate private parking facility is a real bonus.

Great northwest cuisine
Awesome NW cuisine without being pretentious. Close to where we live so for us its a neighborhood place as well. We says take visitors here.

The food and service could not have been better. I cannot wait to go back.

Consistent Portland gem
Once again, I had an innovative and delicious meal at wildwood (oxtail and tuna? Yum!). The service was attentive and sensitive to our needs given the big group they had to put next to us. We are definitively blessed to have this restaurant in Portland.

An Oasis in a busy Portland
Recently we had lunch at Wildwood and our experience was a marvelous as any we ever had there. The menu and then food are creative and delicious. The chef does a wonderful job not only in taste but in presentation as well. Thanks for our delightful time.

Loved your dishes
Something different from other ordinary dishes and great presentation. We loved it.

Highly enjoyed the food. Local, fresh, and prepared by people who know what they are doing. The curry lamb was fantastic and we really enjoyed the star anise ice cream. Go early if you can, it is a busy spot!

Yummy. Can't wait to go back.
This was my first time using Open Table to make a reservation. It was easy and appreciated. Wildwood is one of my all time favorites and took my son and his bride there for dinner when they came to Portland from Los Angeles to visit me. They loved it. Everything was fabulous, including the service, and the pork chops best ever. I can't wait to go back just for the pork chops. The weather was balmy, and we enjoyed dining outside and watching the many interesting Portlanders stroll by. :)

Hard to express all the exceptional experiences in 700 characters. Chef sends out a small sample of something he/she has created for the day. Each time it's been a little bite of heaven. Smoked salmon bruschetta with a chili cream cheese was an unexpectedly fabulous match. Albacore tuna with slow cooked oxtail was another "out of the box" creation that raised "surf and turf" to a new level. Each was cooked to perfection. Even my non-foodie husband was over the moon about his steak. Wine list is extensive, and should meet everyone's desires. I'm probably one of the most discerning patrons when it comes to service, and these guys hit the mark and then some every time. Prices reflect excellent value. Make a reservation, and go!

Attentive, pleasant and interactive
Attentive, pleasant and interactive staff. Fabulous cocktail: Robin's Nest.
two out of three appetizers were terrific. The snapper so, so.
Would certainly come again.

Wildwood is consistently great!
We love Wildwood. Just a few blocks from our house. Always something new on the menu - very seasonal. Servers are well versed in the food and the wine. We like to share plates. This time we were there with friends. We shared 6 small plates and 2 desserts. All nicely presented with great mix of flavors. Lots of rose on the wine list for summer. If its patio season, that's an extra treat.

Reliable and Fun
As always, superb food and service at really reasonable prices! Service outstanding and attentive and fantastic wine list. It's why it's still standing after so many have fallen!
will be back soon

Our lunch with friends was one of the best ever. HIghly recommend the Oregon Albacore Sandwich. Fabulous!

it did live up to the hype
i live in boston, but visit pdx frequently, and i have wanted to go here for many years. it was worth the wait - food was excellent, ambiance is cool, waiter was great. noise was a bit too loud when we got there, but calmed down a bit after a few large parties left.
yes, it is expensive, but a great dining experience.

Lamb Hater Eats Lamb & Likes It
We had a lovely time celebrating my parents 40th Wedding Anniversary. The cocktails were fantastic and cleverly named after things from the TV show "Arrested Development." The wine menu was fantastic. The wife and my mother raved about their warm peach & green bean salad. In fact my wife said, "I will stab you if you try to take a bite." My wife and mom shared a double portion of their lamb offering. On their plate was a lamb ragu. After finishing of my super moist and tender chicken dish, I took a bite of the ragu. It was AMAZING! I strongly dislike lamb but this was fabulous. I actually had multiple bites. It was so good, I could have eaten it on a bed of pasta and been more than satisfied!

Excellent food, service
We had friends from the east coast who thought everything about the meal was excellent, from the attentive service to the delicious food.

Wildwood gets everything right. My partner and I brought my parents here for dinner and we all couldn't have been more pleased.

Very Creative Menu at Wildwood
Presentation and the creative use of ingredients are the hallmarks of this restaurant. We will definitely go back. One of us had the pork chop and one of us had the baked flank steak and they were both delicious. The blackberry-fig tart and the basil ice cream were amazing. Service was perfect.

Knocked it out of the park!
My fiance' and I had just gotten engaged, and came here to have a nice dinner to celebrate. We are from out of town, and were worried about getting lost and being late, so we showed up early for our reservation. We sat at the bar and the drink menu was full of tongue in cheek references to one of our favorite shows, it gave us something to chat about, and the drinks tasted spectacular. We ordered some of the most delicious pate' I've ever had. When we were escorted to our seats, we were treated to a taste from the chef, it was an excellent palette cleanser. The staff was very attentive and professional, we wanted for nothing. The main dish was amazing, we kept swapping plates, and couldn't decide whose was better!

Perfect anniversary dinner
I admit, I hesitated to go to Wildwood at first; I thought it would be an older crowd, NW shi-shi. Happily I was wrong. I had entered into our open table reservation that this dinner was to celebrate our anniversary, not thinking much of it. The hostess wished us a happy anniversary and immediately offered us complimentary champagne. She sat us in a private booth that felt very intimate and warm: high backs, candle light, wood ceilings, fabulous food smells from the open kitchen. Wait staff were similarly fabulous and perfectly present, no rush. The dishes had the right balance of fresh, local, seasonal, and challenge. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Thank you Wildwood!

Great anniversary dinner
I had been planning on trying out Wildwood for quite some time, but finally went for the first time on Saturday night. It was a great experience. The waiters and bartenders were very friendly and attentive. The lighting and mood were great. The food was delicious and each course was brought out with nice pacing. I would definitely go again and I would certainly recommend this restaurant to friends.

Something for everyone here. Seasonal menu always offers interest. Had a relaxing Saturday lunch with out of town company. Good selection of wine by the glass that pairs nicely with the food options. Our guests chose standbys of fish & chips and the burger, but both had great gourmet twists to them including a spicy slaw and homemade ketchup with harissa. Service was attentive, but not in your face.

A stellar dining experience
The food at Wildwood is delicious and beautifully presented. There is a full list of first courses that you can easily make a meal of, the challenge is limiting your choices to a reasonable number so you can move on to the entrees. The combinations of flavors are unique and complex and work perfectly. For starters we had the best mussels we have ever had, plump and juicy with a sauce that required an extra order of Ken's artisan bread, and two salads, crisp, bright and interesting. Our entrees were the pork chop, steak, and lamb confit, all were excellent, perfectly cooked, with accompaniments that added just the right flavors and textures. Desserts are artful and heavenly. A stellar dining experience!

Food and Service Versus Atmosphere
My wife and I met a friend for a weekday lunch. The selection of items from the menu was broad and interesting; and, was matched by its quality. In fact, the chili relleno that I ordered was the best that I have eaten in decades. Also, even though our waitperson was a trainee, we received friendly and attentive service, with no hint of inexperience. All in all, despite the unavoidable lunch crowd noise level, the food and service more than compensated: far more! So, come prepared to part with some of your hard-earned money and enjoy a delightful experience.

turn up the lights
Have been to Wildwood a couple of times in the last year, we do not live in Portland, this past weekend maybe because it was dark outside it was very challenging for all of us 40-50 year olds to see the menus even after we moved the table top candles. A bit more lighting would help and not kill the ambiance. This was noticed by the whole group and frustrating. Food was good, service good although a bit slow and eager to push another bottle of wine. Will go again but first will try some other gems.
10/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
A classic still worth a visit
The menu variety here is delightful, and always is. There's a core of items they play off, but things really are seasonal and they were pioneers in this particular approach. As a vegetarian, I always look forward to having different options on the menu, and both of my dining companions were wowed by the lamb. Great execution on the 8 items we tried, everyone was very pleased. Our only complaint is the noise level, which makes conversation difficult at times. Their cocktails are always unique and interesting, and they have some unusual wines.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good but small menu, could
Good but small menu, could use a couple more entrees. Food was good, portions on the small side. Drinks were also good albeit a little dated compared to the cutting edge Portland cocktail scene. Biggest negative was the noise; it was ridiculous, almost comedic watching us lean-in trying to communicate with one another. The design and decor was beautiful but the volume obliterated any sense of calm, luxury, or social element of the experience giving the diner a sigh of relief when the meal is done and you finally exit the space onto quite 21st ave.
10/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
The restaurant had a wonderful
The restaurant had a wonderful decor and expansive list of beers. Our waitress was very attentive and we received a couple things courtesy of the chef, which is always appreciative. My only complaint is that there aren't a lot of options on the entree list, but they do have a long list of starters that are delicious. Solid restaurant but with all the restaurants Portland has to offer I don't feel the need to return anytime soon.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
The gnocchi is to die for! I have had the gnocchi at Wildwood twice - once with wild mushrooms and once with mushroom/apple/kale/pumpkin. Both the most memorable dishes I have had. I will always go back for more!
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
A pleasant supper
My husband and I had autumn suppers, artful and delicious melanges build on chantrelle mushrooms, squash, wonderful sausage. My dishes, a gnocchi, was especially memorable with its gnocchi, sausage, crisp kale, winter squas, butter beans (?) and baked apple...such wonderful flavors, rich and satisfying. My husband had soup and green salad (not on the menu) but cheerfully provided. The soup, though a little oversalted for my taste (I had it, too) was a great broth with wonderful sausage, greens, onion and those chantrelles! Our waiter was excellent, professional. It is expensive at Wildwood. Our wines, rich chardonnays, were $14 a piece, the salad cost $9, bread was extra (though lovely) and the soup was $9. But, it was great.

This place is great. Everyone was so nice and pleasant starting with the hostess, to the server, and ending with a gal that got our coats and a lady outside as we were leaving. Unpretentious. Knowledgeable. Food was amazing and perfect. The waitress even knew we were celebrating something without telling her. She just guessed and brought us a complimentary sorbet with two shortbread cookies. And then brought us two more shortbread's of different flavor. It was all so great and helped me score some points with my lady. I will definitely be returning again. And again. And again.

Food that Grabs Your Attention
I was focused on my conversation, enjoying my time with a friend. The food arrived and, still focused on my friend, I pronged a forkful and stuck it in my mouth. Suddenly everything we were talking about flew out of my head, and I help up my hand. "Sorry," I said. "I have to pay attention to this." My friend wasn't offended - she had just taken her first bite as well.

Wildwoood was a wonderful way to celebrate our 11th anniversary! It is where we came immediately after our ceremony 11 years ago-as delightful now as it was then!

This was our 2nd visit to Wildwood, the first was a romantic dinner for 2. This time we went with good friends. We had a wonderful time! Really enjoyed sharing the mussels. They were fabulous as were all our meals.
