good spot near Fed. Bldgs.
Did a very nice job serving our group of nine at lunch. All were pleased with their food and service was quick and accurate.

Nice cozy atmosphere. Make
Nice cozy atmosphere. Make sure you are not in a rush, as the place can get very busy with a theatre and show crowd. Our waitress was very efficient, and always served with a warm smile. Food arrived hot, and was very flavorful. The cocktail list was also very creative. All in all a great experience.

We chose this restaurant for
We chose this restaurant for its good reviews and its proximity to the Asian Art Museum, since there is little else in the immediate area. The food was very good and the service was fine, just a little spotty at times (had to ask for water refill, for example). The atmosphere is very pleasant. I would recommend it.

Not sure where the problem
Not sure where the problem was but our reservation was for 6:30P and the restaurant had us scheduled at 5:45P and we almost lost our table. Which was strange because the restaurant was half empty throughout our whole meal, yet the Maitre'D asked us to wait for 10 minutes.

Don't go before symphony
The food is excellent. Great onion soup, very different. Mac and Cheese is really great too. The problem is that the kitchen is obviously too small for the amount of tables and they can't keep up when the place is full. You have to allow an hour and half for dinner, at least on a Friday night, and that is just too long before going to the symphony.

This is a small but lovely restaurant that is close enough to the ballet to walk to--a big plus. Food was delicious, drinks were generous, and the staff was polite, courteous, and knowledgeable.

My family and I enjoyed everything this little gem has to offer.
Their cocktails were different, but so delightful.
The food was amazing. We will definitely be back

Mother Day Meal
I took Deborah to "272" for Mothers Day. You walk through the bar to dinning room in back. Has comfortable booths as well as regular table. We are boomers, so we did the booth. They feature Chicken and Waffles, which Deborah loves, good wine and great dessert. Well worth trying.

Underrated spot in town
Soluna is a steal. I must go back to try the rest of the menu. Everything was great!!

Excellent for before the opera
We've eaten here often before the opera or before a play at the Orpheum because it's close to both and the food is so good. But, be sure to leave yourself enough time, because service can be slow. We enjoyed the mixed greens salad, and those tiny little biscuit croutons were yummy. Crazy how a tiny touch like that can be so good. The wild mushroom and chicken risotto was delicious, as was the halibut with giant white limas. I have no idea where they found those beans, but they were amazing. The fish was perfectly seasoned. Yes, a good place. Wish we'd have had time for dessert.

We were delayed crossing the Golden Gate Bridge and arrived about a half hour late. They were going to make us wait at the bar & took one look at our age and figured we were't going to buy a bunch of drinks so seated us immediately so we could get to Symphnoy on time. I apologized for not phoning when we realized how late we would be, and they said they'd appreciate that and would be sure to hold our table with a phone call next tile.

Excellent Vegetarian Options
I was in San Francisco for only a short time and wanted to do a rather quick eat-through of the city while wandering around. I had to find a place that would work for the vegetarians in our group and after some research though Soluna Cafe looked nice. We were well rewarded with a well balanced menu and excellent service that allowed for very minor changes to the menu to allow for even more options. Overall a great food experience.

I've eaten both lunch and dinner at Soluna. The food is great. The service is prompt and friendly. The cocktails are made well, and I'm picky about my cocktails. During our last visit the owner or manager came to our table and asked about our experience. His question was genuine. Our response was positive, and he made a point f saying he was pleased to hear his staff was meeting our expectations.
The noise level at Soluna that evening was comfortable. Far from dead, but not deafening.
Given the central location to civic center, the symphony, civic center parking, etc., I'm surprised the place wasn't packed. All the better for us. It's a pleasant alternative to the high-priced, noisy places to the west of Van Ness.

Dropped in on a quiet night before a show at Davies Hall. Attentive service and a great Mary's Fried Chicken.

We picked the restaurant since it was close to Davies Symphony Hall, one stop parking, and were nicely surprised by the food. Great flavors, outstanding FRESH vegetables!!!
In the mood for a refreshing cocktail? Try the Pink Dog!

Civic center tind
Soluna has great sandwiches and burgers and fresh sides to boot. My chicken and applewood smoked bacon sandwich was on a ciabatta bun with fresh greens on the side. Delicious and perfect. Not too crowded the day we went but food and service was excellent.

Great food...unique flavorings.
Great food...unique flavorings. Perfectly cooked with the pork chop moist as was the salmon. Their unique drinks menu attest to the fact that the bar was jam packed the entire time we were there for dinner. Our meal was excellent.

Late Seating but No Rush
My companions got stuck in a Muni Metro Meltdown, and arrived 45 minutes after our reserved time. Thanks to courteous staff and a slow night, we were seated immediately. We told our server that we were going to the symphony, and she indicated that it should not be a problem. Indeed, our entrees arrive swiftly, leaving plenty of time to eat without rushing and even time for dessert! The food was delicious and presented nicely. Everyone had a fish entree, which was cooked perfectly with no signs of rushing (i.e. no cold or raw spots). It was a delightful prelude to the concert!

Best burger in town!
Whenever we're going to the opera, the symphony, the Asian Art Museum, or City Arts and Lectures we consider Soluna for its great food and efficient, but not rushed, service. We love the bar area with its sports TV and the classic movies in the back of the restaurant. Their City Burger is delicious!

Enchanted evening at Soluna
Many restaurants these days are too loud, either because of poor acoustics or loud music - or both. I love the ambiance at Soluna, with soft lighting, quiet music, wonderful food and service. Although it was busy the night I visited with two friends, the service was personal, warm and friendly. And, what a pleasant surprise - that they offer movies in the evening! I will definitely return!

My husband and I were looking for a nice restuarant to eat at prior to the symphony and to also celebrate our wedding anniversary. We found this place thru the symphony website after looking at all of the other choices. The good reviews are all true. Try the Mac and Chees and their cocktails or delightful. My husband had a gin and tonic and I had the best champagne cocktail a girl could have for a romatic perfect evening with her husband.
Koodo's to Mgr Ron watching him is like a perfect choregraphy of taking care of everything from greeting and seating guests to even taking orders and clearing plates when the place got hopping. Mostly big Koodos to Leah who is the most FAB cocktail mixologist and server!

Great option pre-Symphony Hall
For those that don't mind a bit of a walk, 272 Soluna Cafe is a great option before attending a concert or the like at Symphony Hall. Park your car near the Symphony Hall and then walk the approximately 4 blocks each way to Soluna. Soluna has the right atmosphere for those dressed up for a concert, or those more casual for a night one. The menu was solid and the food quite good.

The tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich is terrific. Ditto for the Mac and cheese entre.

Excellent service and food
Our group of 3 needed some food accommodations which I noted on my reservation. They were prepared to discuss those with us before ordering so it made all the difference in the world. Food choices were excellent. Thank you, Soluna!

Perfect for SFS & Opera
I have been here a few times and it has always been a nice experience. First, the food is great, with meat, fish and vegetarian selections and delicious appetizers. Second, the atmosphere is relaxed and not noisy. Third, it is convenient to Symphony and Opera/ballet. It always seemed like a long walk from the Performing Arts Garage, but is across the street from the Civic Center garage - which by the way, cost $6 instead of $15 at Performing Arts! Prices are reasonable (for S.F.) and the setting is calm and romantic.
