Not The Norm....
I go to this place a lot. Great food and ambiance. Sadly, this trip was a big disappointment. Must have been a new cook as the food this time was very sub-par.

Casual, fun and delicious!
Huge variety of great beers and delicious tapas to share! You will not be disappointed!

Our waitress was very courteous.
Our waitress was very courteous. Forgot her name, but she was the tall, brunette, Caucasian woman. Food was good.
My only suggestion would be to add turkey bacon as an alternative to the pork.

Good food, good service
Everything was very good. I can't really say much else beyond that. We went on a weekday at 5:30, so it wasn't remotely crowded. The tapas they had were all very good, although I did not have one that blew my mind. Sangria wasn't so great, but the beer list was quite impressive.

Hands down the best tapas bar ever.
Came back to La Cerveceria , this time with a larger group, so we got to try a much larger array of items on the menu. This place is now my favorite…
Food absolutely delicious, seriously tasty! The portions are small and we needed to order extra plates but wow who cares when it tastes so good!
Beer list extensive and covers almost all world!

Good tapas in the heart of the EV
This is a great spot that's usually not packed, with a few outdoor tables spilling right onto 2nd avenue - so it's great for peoplewatching as you're right in the heart of the east village. Food was great, especially the steak, and the service always very friendly and prompt.
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
This restaurant looks fairly new. It was very cutely decorated with many bottles of beer. The food was good and the service was good. The sangria was watered down.

Fun date night
It was great. Jazz was playing, maybe a bit loud, but for fun date night it was ok.
Staff is great. Food is ok.
Will go back.

La Cerveceria is by fare one of my favorite restaurants , the outdoor dining is relaxing
and great for people watching, the service is very good and the beer menu
unique. Christian, my waiter was very knowledgeable and pleasant , while the restaurant was very busy with three large parties.
I will be back soon with friends to enjoy a tapas night accompanied by beers that I never heard of in my life.

The food is fantastic and the ambiance
Is super cool. The service is great !
Take a date or go with a friend.....just go to La Cerveceria!!!!!
8/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a very good time at La Cerveceria. Food offerings are unique and very tasty - so happy to have tried the causas, ceviche and empanadas. The Tocay argentinian white wine was a great recommendation! Staff took care of us quite well. Will definitely keep visiting this wonderful new find, and bring all my friends as well!
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
A gem of a place in east village
We came here for jazz night. The food was fantastic and the service was very friendly. They had a good wine list which was very reasonable. My boyfriend and I shared the ceviche, empanadas, tacos, and calamari which were delicious. I recommend this place for a couple or for a group.
8/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Best Lobster Guac!!
Everything was great at this place. It was empty when we went but we went late on a Monday night. I have 0 complaints and the lobster guacamole was great.
8/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
A tad pricey for apps, but
A tad pricey for apps, but delicious nonetheless. Great beer selection. Service was slightly overwhelming as they check in too often. One server was difficult to understand. Would recommend and return, overall.
8/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Everything we ordered was delicious! Especially the baby back ribs, the meat was super tender! It's all tapas and the portions are fairly small so I would recommend ordering at least 2 tapas per person, so you won't stay hungry.
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Very good South American cousine
A group of four of us shared a number of their cervichies and found them to be very well flavored. Tasty without being overpowering. We will go back again for other fare.

The food and live music was great! Can't wait to go back.
9/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Loved the food. Not the music.
Delicious smal plates. Particularly enjoyed the lobster guacamole, plantain chips, and fish tacos,. Everything we ordered was extremely tasty and well-prepared. Extensive beer list.
My quibble is the music and the loudness of it. When we arrived, the music was schlocky, muzak-like piano arrangements of classical pieces and standards like "Time to Say Good-Bye." After a while, it improved and the pieces started to seem a bit more appropriate -- actual songs rather than the piano versions, more South American, hipper, less tacky but still too loud.
Also, the decor is a bit odd. The food is South American, but the walls are lined with historic photos of Americans of the sort you would see in a Ken Burns documentary. Didn't really fit.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
SOOOOO good. Just so good. Service, atmosphere, food - this place has it all.
Small plates to share that come out in NO time, so you can do rounds easily. Deadly amazing sangria. Adorable layout and atmosphere and service. Everything we tried was great, I really don't think you can go wrong. honestly didn't have one bad thing. A must try for sure.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
In terms of both food and ambience, this has definitely been one of the best tapas restaurants I've been to in New York. Definitely come with a huge group of people so that you can all order different dishes and share.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Okay okay... If anyone knows me. They know that I DO NOT hand out 5 Stars easily! Yet, I wish I could hand out 6 stars! Hands down, well deserved 5 Stars at la Cerveceria. Beer list is so extensive from all over the world.
If you want to to be delight by many different plates but don't want to stuff yourself, then this an one excellent choice, especially going with a date. It's atmosphere is casual but not trashy, trendy without going to the top yet classy enough to make you feel comfortable. For the food, there's so many different choices and surprisingly, all of them are delicious.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
I really loved this place. We were a group of 4 and we ordered 7 dishes. Each dish was great. Service was great. location and crowd were also nice. Overall, this was a very enjoyable dinning experience. I will definitely come back.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
What a hidden gem in New York! Came here with a group of friends not really knowing what to expect. We walked right past the entrance to the restaurant where the bar stands in the middle with a world map on top showing beers literally from every part of the world! Once we got inside, I was blown away by the decor. Absolutely beautiful! We shared a total of 9 tapas, and I must say the beef causa was AMAZING...I couldn't get enough. Absolutely everything was scrumptious and meticulously designed to tantalize the taste buds.
10/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
Stopped by on a Saturday- early evening for pre drinks and a ceviche or two.
Ended up having 2 glasses of a Chilean Chardonnay, which was very nice and also had the Mexican Style & Ecuadorian Style Cevice--- SOOO GOOD!!!!! Amazing flavor and a nice change of pace to the classic Mixto Ceviche. Sat outside-- great people watching and I will definitely return!
10/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great place for a large party of people; we went with 7 people and the place was super accommodating. It was easy to make a reservation over the phone and they were very nice. This is more of a Latino tapas place than Mediterranean.
I love the whole tapas concept - I get to try a bunch of dishes, and don't get any food envy. Here were the must-haves, good dishes,
Steak skewers, beef causa, lobster guacamole, yuca fries, fish tacos.
Their beer list is so impressive and from all over the world. I asked the waiter how many beer they carry and he mentioned 146. Their sangrias are amazing too. They have 3 kinds
Red, white And champagne!
10/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
gluten-free sensitive gem
very friendly, beautifully designed inside, nice outdoor seating, delicious selection of tapas, great central location

Great Food, Great Beer
Cerveceria provided the perfect setting to catch up with loved ones, drink a delicious beer off of a hefty list, and eat some delicious, yet casual, Peruvian cuisine. The wait staff was attentive without being overbearing and gave good suggestions. Perfect spot for a group of four!
10/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
I just can't get enough
Try the burger sliders, lobster guacamole, and an IPA. Amazing.
10/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicious small plates at this cozy and hip Peruvian Tapas restaurant. Loved the steak skewers, grilled shrimp, nachos mixto & kale salad to mention a few. Will be back to sample the rest of the menu as everything was super delicious. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly.
10/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
A friend of mine suggested the place. He mentioned that they have great tapas with an amazing beer and wine lists and boy was he right. The tapas are delicious and tasty. Lobster guacamole and fish tacos were phenomenal. We tried some lambic and fruit beer that was yummy! Most definitely be there again to try more food.

The service at this place
The service at this place was amazing. I threw a birthday dinner party there and they were very accommodating. I showed up 30 minutes late and with about half of my reservation and they sat us immediately. The food was awesome. We ordered a lot of tapas and were all delish. I loved the Mexican ceviche and also the beef stew which were outstanding. Our waiter was so nice and accommodating. At the end, the owner gave our party a glass of champagne to celebrate my sister's birthday. This place set the mood for an awesome night. Thank you so much.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
great beer and food
We met friends, it was an intergenerational group and everyone had a great time. The staff was very helpful and attentive to our needs. The beer selection is great and the ceviche choices were great. We liked that there was something for everyone to enjoy in terms of food and drinks (beer/wine, etc...).
There was no televisions and that was really nice and conducive to conversations!!! Very nice.
We will be coming back for sure!!

Great tapas place
Love this place, took a friend for her bday and the service was super. Food was great as always. I used a living social and they took it without any problem. I highly recommend this place.
10/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went with a group and everything was delicious. Drinks were great, beer selections are amazing.
11/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
best beer selection ever
We counted , more or less, 140 craft beers from all over the world, Amazing !
The beer wall is spectacular my hat off to the owners.
Great Tapas ! We loved the fish Tacos and steak parilla.
11/2/2013 12:00:00 AM
Peruvian Tapas at their best!
Latin American tapas with sharp Peruvian influences and a concentration on American craft beers and new world wine. La Cerveceria probably has one of the most extensive American craft beer selections ever. Ironically I personally am not a beer drinker, rather a wine connoisseur. However, when you walk in, you will see what appears to be a rather extensive representation of all beer in bottles displayed on the walls around the restaurant. I had the red sangria which was amazing!
The entire menu is Tapas & since our group was comprised of "foodies" & rather adventurous...we shared some amazing plates. While we did have some favorites all were wonderful.

Cerveza...and much more
Nice selection of domestic and international beers as well as wines. Very little noise (Sunday night). Service was quick and attentive.
The tapas were average priced but the portions large! Lobster guacamole: fresh avocados with lobster mixed in and two chunks on top. Peruvian chicken empanadas (3), crispy-fried, very tasty and slightly spicy. The beef skewers (3) were delightful: tender and juicy, with just the right char-broiled taste and drizzled with sauces, came with a lovely avocado salad. The Mexican ceviche was disappointing in comparison. The seafood was small, cooked shrimp. The marinade wasn't too interesting. Billed as containing three spicy chile sauces, it tasted like a sweet-and-sour cocktail sauce with a very minimal bite.

Just went here today for my birthday dinner, a treat from my friend. This place is awesome... The ambiance was great. We had the nachos for an appetizer.. .which weren't typical nachos.. OMG YUM! I ordered the fish tacos which were really great and my friend ordered the peruvian empanadas which was chicken, raisins, tomatoes and some sort of dipping sauce... and lets not forget the panna cotta for dessert... AWESOME!
Oh and I toasted my birthday with a glass of champagne courtesy of the owner and one of the servers and my friend... they were really nice.
This place was DE LISH! Can't wait to go back...

Amazing Peruvian food and beer list
La Cerveceria is one of our favorite NYC restaurants. They emphasize the extensive beer list (go for the smoked beer from Bamburg, Germany), and they don't wuss out on the authentic Peruvian dishes. By that, I mean they include classics like causa, cerviche, yuca fries, etc., to which they give modern twists. Peruvian food is the most acclaimed cuisine in Latin America (check out the World's 50 Best Restaurants 2013 and Latin American's 50 Best Restaurants 2013 lists to see how much they dominate) due to its fusion and creativity, and while other Peruvian places simply try to give a twist to chicken, steak and fish, La Ceverceria gives modern twists on the lesser-known (in the US at least) Peruvian classics.

Tastes like heaven...
So we sit at a small table in the corner and the waiter brings us two menus. The small pamphlet sized menu was for food and the giant menu was the drink menu! Very long list of beers which took up two pages and then another two pages for wines, cocktails and dessert.
We couldn't decide on which beers so we let the waiter pick, and he did a good job! We ordered the lobster guacamole, fish tacos and the fluke ceviche. All so delicious! I could have ate the same plates over and over again. For dessert we went with the panna cotta...so rich and creamy and yummy!

amazing gem in east village!
this is my second time dining here and both times were memorable. the first time i brought my childhood friends from italy for dinner. i wanted them to try different foods and this nailed it. they are still talking about that dinner. kyle was beyond hospitable. my party was late due to traffic i waited an hour! it was one of the best nights i had in new york in the 3 yrs i have been here.
last saturday was my birthday, and i wanted to return bc of my great experience. we were treated amazingly, constant attention, nothing was ever empty from water, to wine to food. we didn't ever have to wait for any of the tapas. my party, this time different set of people raved about the food. everyone was pleased perfect birthday dinner!

A very pleasant Thanksgiving
We thoroughly enjoyed a 3 course Thanksgiving dinner here: it was a particularly pleasant surprise to find out that house sangria, wine and beer (excellent microbrewery beer) was included in the already good price of $55. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding: the wait staff really cared and were frequently asking us if there was anything we needed. I will definitely return!

Great turkey day
We had an amazing time at la Cerveceria. We celebrated thanksgiving with the family and the prix fixe menu was perfect. The ambience is cozy, romantic, and spacious. I highly recommand this place, the atmosphere was very nice and the waitress were super friendly with us even though it took us forever to decide. I will certainly visit again.
