Only poured water for half the table. Water wasn't provided to others until 5-10 minutes later. No refills offered on Ice Tea, just took away the glasses.

Clean, modern Italian in the Loop
The Florentine is located on the second floor of the J.W. Marriott. Expect the crowd to reflect the hotel: road warrior consultants, conference attendees, etc. This review reflects the prix-fixe menu for Chicago's chef's week, which included four courses for $44. The burrata app and the pistachio cheesecake/crème brulée stood out. The entrée was seared char, which was good but forgettable. The wine list included some excellent, affordable ($30-40), and hard-to-find Italian wines. The non-prix-fixe menu looked pretty good but extremely $$$$, which I guess is to expect at a hotel. My main complaint is the music - "jazz," if you can call it that - which was both atrocious & atrociously loud. Completely did not fit the overall vibe!

The service at the Florentine
The service at the Florentine is very good - the wait staff is attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. The food is good, but not spectacular - perhaps I went to the restaurant with too high of an expectation because it was a recommendation from a friend.

The Florentine has become a good standby for client and group lunches. The food is always good, however, the service is hit or miss. This time our server (Marcy) was outstanding and made the experience very pleasant!

Good brunch buffet, Poor service
A group of 6 of us decided to come here for the Easter Brunch brunch buffet. I chose the Florentine because they advertised a wide spread of food and a bottemless mimosa deal. The food was absolutely delicious. They had had all the traditional Easter and brunch foods as well as a raw seafood bar, cheese and meats table, and a great dessert spread. Well worth the $45 for the food. I, however, was not impressed with the service. Our group paid for the bottomless mimosas ($12, a deal) and expected to be served them the entire time we were eating without being given attitude or being avoided, even if that happened to be 3 hours. The waiter asked us to pay our check before we were finished with our meal, which I thought to be quite rude.

Came with a group of nine, made a reservation weeks in advance but they didn't have the table ready. they finally got us seated and comped us with 2 free pizza appetizers, which was a nice "sorry." Otherwise, the experience was good, the food was good, not too loud after about 1 or 1:30, so we were able to have a really nice lunch. Would recommend

Great place for a celebratory lunch
I took 3 of my colleagues from work out to lunch here to celebrate a recent case, and it was definitely the right place to go. The waitress was friendly and prompt without hovering. The good was quite good - I had one of their gourmet hamburgers and French fries, and it lived up to the billing. If I could figure out how to give 4.5 stars for the food and service, I would.

Before opera matinee
This place is a great find for brunch or lunch on a Sunday, with a huge assortment of good courses to choose from. I took my mom before an opera matinee. The service was fantastic.

Worth a trip to Chicago
An amazing find. We walked out of our hotel restaurant simply because of poor service and limited menue. The Florentine will be first choice on our food list each trip. Incredible talent in both the kitchen and dining area. Thank you for a wonderful culinary evening!

Interesting and delicious menu selections; not the expected pasta with red sauce. Nice selection of different Italian dishes. Good portions but not overwhelming, great flavors, great wine list to pair regional wines with the regional fare. Waiter was very pleasant and very helpful with recommendations.

Florentine is by far my favorite
Florentine is by far my favorite business breakfast and lunch restaurant in downtown Chicago. the food is great, the service is wonderful and the restaurant itself is physically inviting with acoustics that permit conversation even when the restaurant is packed. The entire staff, particularly General Manager Amanda Kullman, does a fantastic job of recognizing regular patrons and making regular patrons feel like their business is genuinely appreciated.

This is a great place for lunch, both business and casual. The sandwiches are awesome and the fries with the aioli sauce will keep you salivating. Great atmosphere too.

The halibut steak was fantastic.
The halibut steak was fantastic. My companion ordered pizza which was quite good too. I had the pistachio cheesecake for dessert; while small in portion it was very, very good.

A Special Meal
In my first visit to the Florentine, I was hoping for a good Italian meal. What I got was a spectacularly good one. While the loop is full of decent Italian places, mostly red-sauce Italian, the Florentine re-imagines Italian cooking, in particular Tuscan cooking to produce extraordinarily good food. We ordered three different entrees that were so good (especially the game hen) that we put them in the middle of the table and shared them family-style. Sides were equally good, as were the desserts. Wine was a little more expensive than it needed to be, though still of good quality. Definitely a place to revisit.

Very Accomodating and great food
Our groups was originally 2 reservations that merged into one on arrival but the hostess was able to make some changes and accomodate our larger group. Food, is always good here and we have a good time.

The atmosphere was quiet, but not a library. There was enough noise to know the place was open but quiet enough to hear everyone at my table. I had the ravioli and it was fantastic. Service was good, not great, but nothing to complain about. I'd recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a good business lunch.

good for networking lunch
One of a few great spots in the loop that has great food, good service, and an appropriate ambiance for networking over lunch. I'll probably be back many times!

Nice albeit pricey
This is a good place to meet for lunch, but some of their items are on the pricey side. I had a pasta dish for $28 which, while tasty, I thought was a bit on the high side for what I received. The service was very good though and the food did arrive quickly, making this a good choice for a business lunch if you're trying to impress people. Was pretty noisy when we arrived at 12:45 but it died off a lot after 1 PM.

Celebrating the Chicago Marathon
What a treat to realize that the restaurant that had been recommended to my sister was in our hotel. We knew it would be perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable dinner after my daughter ran the marathon earlier that day. How right we were. The food was delicious, the wine expertly chosen by the sommelier.
Of special note were the scallops appetizer, the winter squash ravioli, the fish and duck entrees and the pistachio cheesecake and cookies. .
It was the perfect ending to a great weekend in Chicago.

My husband and I live in the south loop and always forget about this place. Everything we visit we rave about how delicious it is and how we need to go back.
It's kind of pricey and their menu is set up to order multiple courses. I ordered a pasta with a side and it was just enough.
