Pre-Fenway Upscale Meal
If you're not in the mood for a sausage or a hot dog before a game, Petit Robert is a great alternative. They have an outdoor patio that looks out onto Comm Ave. and you really get to feel the vibrancy of the neighborhood. The food is reliable and good, if not completely innovative. The night we were there the waitstaff seemed a little frazzled and they could not explain the items on the menu particularly well. I tried to order a drink with liquor in it, and the waitress explained to me that they only have a partial liquor license--wine and beer, I think. Again, not a huge problem, but something you should know before going. Make a reservation, because they do fill up. Overall, a nice dining experience in a convenient location.

Totally enjoyed our group dinner at Petit Robert. The wait staff was fabulous, the food was fantastic and the whole evening a great success. I must say the crowning point was the giant profiterole. I would go back in a heartbeat!!

Best eggs benedict in Boston
Petit Robert is wonderful for all meals but my favorite is the eggs benedict with smoked salman! Marvelous!

We have been to Petit Robert
We have been to Petit Robert many times, and always enjoy it. I like the warm bistro atmosphere, the reasonable prices, the availability of reservations usually, and of course the food - nicely prepared typical French bistro food.

We enjoyed a great three course meal before Redsox/Yankees game. No Fenway franks for us--at least this time!

I went here during restaurant
I went here during restaurant week, and the restaurant is so cute! The people are very nice and accommodating, and the food was very good to top it off. I would highly recommend this restaurant to others.

We went during restaurant week. Two of us had the salmon and two of us had the beef stroganoff with beets and beet fetuccini. We split on the appetizers also. Two for the shrimp and two for the beet & goat cheese. Everything were done perfectly and delicious. The rhubard tart and apricot desserts were outstanding.
I find that during restaurant week, some restaurants will give smaller portions on all their offerings. Not so Petit Robert. Everything served were regular portions which we really appreciate.

Tables are very very close together, so you hear everything your neighbors are saying.

Reasonable prices 4 very good food
We always have a good, and often a very good meal here. As usual, we ordered the foie gras appetizer & choc. mousse for dessert & both were excellent. The rack of lamb was good, but a bit tough and less flavorful than expected; the grilled salmon was very good--cooked perfectly. Service from our main server was sporadic; she seemed overwhelmed, but the helpers tried hard to be responsive, e.g., they kept our water glasses filled. The bill for 3 of us was very reasonable. We will continue to go to Petit Robert Bistro whenever we're in the mood for reliably good, authentic French food at what is these days a bargain price.

I've been to Petit Robert Bistro several times; this time didn't realize it was the last night of Restaurant Week (which can be iffy because places are more crowded for the special menus). PRB came through completely - it is wonderful French food, attentive service. One of the things I like is they don't rush you - your appetizers are cleared and then the entrees come with a decent bit of time in between - it makes for a much more leisurely dinner. Only downside - it was quite full and there was a really noisy party of about 8 people there - the restaurant is very small upstairs and loud parties make it hard to hear. They were also seated in the center of the room which made it even noisier. But, a wonderful meal otherwise!

Spectacular Date Spot
Perfect ambience, noise level, and feel for that special someone. My new favorite restaurant in Boston. Also, the Martini Rosso was to die for.

great french food
It is always best to come here before the dinner rush. During peak hours the place seems small over-crowded and the staff are stressed. When it is relatively uncrowded, this place is incredible!

I booked this restaurant because we had tickets to a Red Sox game and it was 2 blocks away and walking distance and a good neighborhood. We were not disappointed. The food was great and our waiter (Luis) was enjoyable and helpful with directions and wine choice. We would go back again if we are in the area again.

Petit Robert Bistro September Lunch
My girlfriend and i had lunch here on one of our first days in Boston and the food was pretty good.. The food portions were big. In the end, we ended up getting a steak frites and another dish, which were excellent. Would recommend this place for an informal occasion, but book ahead as it is cosy.

Consistently Great Restaurant
Whether it's dinner with parents or date, this restaurant has never let me down. It's been at least five years since I last dined at Petit Robert Bistro in Kenmore square, but everything I loved then is still great and there are plenty of good new additions to the menu too. Looking forward to trying more delicious things there soon!

Always enjoy Petit Robert
Always enjoy Petit Robert - our go-to restaurant before or after a Red Sox game. Classic French bistro fare and cozy atmosphere. I had bluefish which was well-prepared.

Always a fabulous meal
It's been ages since I've been to Petit Robert, and I've never checked out the Kenmore Square one. It was awesome! The food was delicious. I had the crunchy poached eggs - amazing!
The desserts were fabulous as well.

I was looking for a nice restaurant without knowing much about the area and it fits really well for dinning out with someone special for the first time. ;). Nice neighborhood, quite, and great food.

Very good food with lovely wait staff.

The place to go
Once again, we enjoyed a lot our evening at the "Petit Robert Bistro".
It is the place where we celebrate all our big events (weddings, family/friends gathering, New Year...) but also, because of the non-expensive prices, it is a place you can come anytime to enjoy great food.
expecially if you want to test French food at very reasonnable prices.
thank you, until next time !

Upscale atmosphere & beautifully appointed. Although there are many tables in a not so large space, we didn’t feel like we were dining with the table next to us nor did we feel that we had to whisper lest the table next to us overheard our entire conversation.
I had to get my favorites: escargots & French onion soup. I think this was the best French onion soup I’ve ever had. The broth was hearty & the onions plentiful. Many delicious sounding entrees to choose from. Like the delicious warm bread they bring & the wonderful starters, the lamb chop was perfectly prepared & beautifully presented. The roasted cod filet was beautifully presented & the ginger lemon sauce added a nice flavor dimension. Great restaurant!

Great place for special occasion
each time I have chosen to dine here ...it has been memorable. the atmosphere and service, and of course the food is too notch.
I have chosen this restaurant numerous times with family to commemorate a special event in our family, most recently as a reunion of special college roommates who came to boston to crew in the Head of the Charles regatta. It was exactly the type of evening we hoped for.....away from the busy and loud bars of Kenmore square...yet convenient to their hotel.
Our out of town guests remarked that the evening was perfect and restaurant choice ideal.
We will definitely be back.

This was our second trip to Petit Robert Bistro while in Boston on vacation. The food is simply the best for the $$$ anywhere in the Kenmore/Fenway area. Often, when traveling, we prefer to have one late lunch/early dinner; but so few good restaurants are open during that 3 PM to 5 PM time frame, and those that are generally have very limited menus. The majority of Petit Robert Bistro's dinner entrees are available on their lunch menu, including Beouf Bourguignon - best I've ever had. We also had the Mushroom Risotto with smoked salmon (they smoke their own); the seasonal Foie Gras (with cinnamon and roasted apple); and Passionfruit Creme Brulee. All were superb. Highly recommend.

Excellent Choice for Pre-Fenway
Though we've had meals here on other occasions, when it displayed a more leisurely atmosphere, Petit Robert is particularly good for a pre-Fenway dinner. Though exceedingly busy, service was snappy and attentive, the meal was quite good and served quickly in keeping with the need for patrons to be on their way - - set us up well for a cold October night at the park.
10/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
We really enjoyed having lunch here. Cannot wait to return for dinner. The food and service were fantastic. French onion soup was awesome.
10/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
I love this place.... And they are the only place in Mass that understands a good macaron! Bravo! And thank you!
10/29/2013 5:00:00 PM
Excellent Small French Restaurant
The food was excellent, the service was great, and, I think because we had booked our reservation through Open Table, a choice table in the front window was ready and waiting for us when we arrived. When in Boston we shall return to this restaurant.
11/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
The location was easily accessible via T. The cocktails and wine were good although the wine suggested by the waitor was $11/glass so that was a little surprising when the bill arrived. The salads were just ok. The romaine was mostly yellow instead of green. The salad that was supposed to be field greens and Boston bibb had no field greens. The entrees were very nice.
The restaurant was quite warm - it had been a very warm November day. It took a few tables complaining about the heat before the air conditioning was turned on.
Overall a nice meal.

Great Food In Kenmore Sq
I had been to the one in the South End many times but never to the location in Kenmore. I prefer the South End location for ambience but the food here was just as good. While food was great, our dinner was delayed. While people who arrived after us were getting theri entrees we were still waiting. I wouldn't have minded if our waiter had just told us about the delay. PS No salad nicoise.

Paris in Spirit
If you have ever enjoyed a meal in a Paris "brasserie" you will be transported back to that meal at Petit Robert. Simple , well prepared, dishes are the specialty. Coq au vin, trout amandine, coquille St. Jaques, steak frites all come with a view of a small model of the Eiffel Tower in the courtyard . Friendly servers explain the choices. The bread and butter are divine!
11/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
Wonderful that they still serve Grand Marnier as well as chocolate soufflé
Be sure to inquire and order when you sit down!
11/10/2013 4:00:00 PM
The venison was outstanding--perfect temperature. And the herring is always solid.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
My only complaint about this
My only complaint about this restaurant is they fall apart when you get to dessert or coffee. Their souffles are lame and the espresso tastes like instant. Good coffee is a must! The rest of the food (and service) is great.
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
BIG ROBERT A+
MY DATE DIDN'T HAVE HIS GLASSES TO READ THE MENU. WITHOUT EVEN BLINKING OUR WAITRESS IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT OVER A PAIR OF "CHIC" READING GLASSES. JUST THAT LITTLE GESTURE WAS LIKE THE WHOLE MEAL - WONDEFUL FROM THE FABULOUS DRINKS, WARM BREAD, PERFECTLY COOKED VEGETABLES (WHICH MOST RESTAURANTS ALWAYS OVER COOK, UNDER SEASON AND SERVE PATHETIC, SMALL PORTIONS), REASONABLE PRICES AND OVERALL GREAT FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE! WE LOVED IT! I WOULD RARELY USE THE WORD "CHARMING", BUT THIS PLACE WAS TO THE CORE - EXCELLENT!
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
Really enjoyed this small gem. Great food and service!

Nice French Bistro
have been here several times for friends' birthdays and decided to bring my mom for her birthday last night. When I reserved with open table I indicated the birthday, thinking it was a discreet way to do so, as I had done this with other restaurants before. However as we were seated, the waitress asked in front of my mom, "so who's birthday is it" and later whispered indiscreetly "who's birthday". Would have preferred more of a surprise with the dessert, but they did give dessert for free. Menu is straightforward French bistro. My venison that I ordered rare came out overcooked and after them initially trying to prove to me it wasn't, they re did the dish. My son liked his coq au vin, my husbands duck was good & mom liked her calf liver.

Restaurant so good, you can propose
I first came here 6 years ago. It was so delicious and such a quaint, beautiful place, that I've taken everyone there. As an added bonus, it's also pretty affordable. The duck is always spectacular, skin crisped, perfectly done and I have to get it every time (but we share our food, so, I've tasted other things). Their desserts are delectable. We got a poached pear once, which was an experience. I'm not sure it's still on the menu, but I would order it again and again.
Lastly, to get an idea of the ambience and the nature of the place, I proposed to my girlfriend here just a few days ago. We had our first official date there and there was no other perfect location. The staff all got on board and the evening went perfectly!

A fine authentic French bistro, perhaps with food not at their best for Thanksgiving, but very good, nonetheless.
11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
Was looking for a non traditional thanksgiving meal...and since I pretty sure the pilgrims didn't dine French we gave it a try. The food, service and ambiance were all excellent. Nice mixed drinks too. Try the profiterole for dessert. Very generous portion so save room!

Never disappointed at Petit Robert!
It is always a delightful dining experience at Petit Robert. On this most recent visit, it was a cold and windy night, but inside was warm and inviting. We left the Boston climate outside and stepped into Paris. Our server was attentive, prompt, and enjoyable to engage in dialogue. All food courses were as good as you will find in France, the wine was exceptional, and the desserts....well.... perfect treats for ending a perfect evening.

Notable Beer List
In addition to an excellent wine list, this restaurant featured an exceptional list of beers.
The roasted chicken and the pate were excellent!
Great desserts, especially the chocolate mousse.
