Down Home French Elegance
The atmosphere is fairly casual, and the service, while slightly casual, is as good as anything you'll find in five-star restaurants. Warm, no attitude, attention to detail, and delectable offerings. It is positioned in an unassuming location, and parking can be a little challenging---but it's worth it when you get there. The music was too loud for our party's taste---we were, initially, the only group in there for about 1/2 hour, and asked if the music could be toned down a bit. That was the only request that was never honored---the rest of the service was outstanding. We all agreed that we would go back, but that the loud disco music was a sticking point. A great meal is better enjoyed when one doesn't have to shout :)

Great neighborhood gem!
Bistro Central Parc is a true neighborhood gem. It's off the beaten path unless you live in that neighborhood. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The wine list is simple, but very good and very reasonably priced. Jacques, the owner is a gracious and humble host. My only suggestion is too add mirrors for more of the classic French bistro feel.

True French bistro by the park
Right off the Golden Gate Park panhandle, this tiny restaurant run by a French staff and an awesome American chef creates real French cuisine and keeps a lovely wine cellar. It feels like a family and you're the visiting cousin. A menu selection that can meet all tastes from tenderloin to ratatouille. Forget the top 100 fou-fou. Central Parc (on Central St at Grove) is the real deal.

We had a great first experience here right from the start. The room is comfortable and the people serving are friendly and helpful. The food was excellent; each course was a revelation of its own. We will definitely go back.

A chef once warned me to avoid "bistros" at all costs, as my wife and I were on our way to Paris. We made the mistake of ignoring his advice, once. However, we are not in Paris, and BCP is not some Starbucks version of french cuisine. The setting was warm and inviting, one could even say "cozy" as you could easily strike up a convo with a neighboring patron and agree to disagree which dish is the most amazing. All the dishes were plentiful in flavor, but easy on the waistline. Even the notorious escargot appetizer had a unique twist that makes even the least inclined to want another bite. They could easily charge twice as much for this quality of food, but they don't, and it's one more reason to make BCP your regular go-to spot.

We're Going Back
We dined here 2 nights ago because it was close to where we are staying in San Francisco, and the menu sounded interesting. The ris de veau was outstanding. My wife had halibut, which she said was excellent. My moules were prepared with a curry sauce and were plentiful and fresh. We enjoyed it so much that we canceled our reservation at another restaurant two days from now so that we can go back to Bistro Central Parc before we leave San Francisco.

Superb food with beautiful presentation in a relaxed, quiet setting. As opposed to many of todays restaurants, conversation was easy at normal voice levels.

This is a friendly place with great food! The nightly specials change so you don't get bored with the menus. We have been to Bistro Central Park before and we will definitely return.

Interesting and unique menu
Interesting and unique menu of dishes, but hard to know exactly what you are getting. In fact, the table next to us left after looking at the menu. Our meal was very good and we were happy with it.

Wonderful Provençal restaurant
Bistro Central Parc is our favorite special-occasion restaurant, perfect for a birthday, an anniversary, or dinner out with friends. It's a lovely, welcoming place with consistently wonderful food. It's the real thing: Provençal specialties that are perfectly made classics. I love the bouillabaisse and the profiteroles. Even a simple roast chicken was spectacular. The owner is a charming man who greets diners like old friends. It's comfortable, unpretentious, reasonably priced deliciousness.

off the beaten path for a tourist
This little restaurant is off the beaten path for a tourist like myself, but very well worth the $12 taxi ride from Union Square!!! Wine list is reasonably priced, excellent service, and amazingly great food! I highly suggest the risotto and frisee salad.

Return Visit as Good as the First!
We enjoyed our dinner here so much several evenings ago that we canceled our reservation at another well-known San Francisco restaurant to dine here again 4 days later. We were not disappointed. The food was outstanding, especially the ris de veau and moules in curry sauce. The servers and owner were extremely friendly and gave perfectly timed service. I wish this restaurant were near our home in Hawaii!

Delicious and hearty
This little restaurant is such a gem. The food is delicious and excellently prepared. Worth every penny and all the difficulty to find parking.

Good as usual
This is one of our family's favorite place in the city. Never disappoints. The only drawback is that it is very difficult to find parking around,

Normally excellent, but half
Normally excellent, but half of the already small filet was a large vein of tough inedible fat that should have been trimmed off.

Fabulous dining !
Lovely neighborhood restaurant with deliciously prepared French food. Ambience is just right -- comortably modern without being too swanky or trendy, and it smells divine. Varied crowd - all ages, comfortably stylish. Very welcoming French host. As Goldilocks says, it's just right. Cheers, f.

Charming and delicious...had mushroom risotto a gem salad with blue cheese and bacon brittle and then on to the fillet mignon. Perfect in every way. Love the owner, always a lovely chat.

Great food, great atmosphere,
Great food, great atmosphere, vibrant on a holiday weekend. Though we followed a couple of large parties, the service and food was still great - a fun place to take friends and introduce them to the neighborhood!

Very relaxed atmosphere
This was our 2nd time, the owner greeted & sat us with a smile. The waiter was fantastic. We sipped on a bottle of 2010 Excelsior Cabernet Sauvignon, could have guiltlessly drank another. We were very pleased with our meals, I had the filet mignon which was cooked medium rare and perfectly cooked at that. My sister had the risotto and scallops with lobster sauce. The portion was small but it was so decadent that she still only made it through half. We'd been trying to get back here for a while but it's pretty much reservation only, and if you want to risk it without you're unlikely to get a table. The bar is sometimes open, that's where my sister and I sat the first time when we decided to try out SF's French scene. So happy we did.

A joyful neighborhood bistro
I feel happy when I eat here. The owner greets us like family, even though we've only been a couple of times, & I want to use my 6 whole words of French to respond in kind. We love the traditional bistro menu: mussels, pommes frites, duck, endive salad. The shortribs were tender and tasty, & the fish and duck breast were cooked perfectly. The negatives: the wine list needs improving, as do desserts. The beignets were not as light as they might be & the crust on a delicious lemon tart had been overworked. The chef has a heavy hand with salt (which seems to be very common in many restaurants these days) but accommodated us by cooking the fish without salt and putting the sauce in a pitcher on the side, so we could add just a taste.

Excellent quality bistro food!
This was our third visit to BCP and once again we enjoyed every bite. The risotto appetizer, one of the best offerings in my opinion, was topped with a generous portion of mushrooms seasoned with truffle oil. The escargots were delicious, but a bit heavy on the parsley and light on the butter and garlic. The duck breast was cooked perfectly, and the slices were served stacked on top of a potato gratin and some spinach. I mopped up every drop of the rich, dark cherry sauce with crispy French bread. The peppercorn sauce accompanying the fillet was also a hit at our tale. The room does not lend itself to an intimate tête à tête (cramped tables and deafening noise) but the food keeps us coming back!

The four of us had a great time at Bistro Central Parc. Loved the food and the various selections.
7/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
In 2010 my girlfriend and I discovered this restaurant on our first trip to SF.
Due to our wonderful experience here, Bistro Central Parc was on the top of our list of places we wanted to eat when we eventually returned to SF.
We returned to SF 3 years later and became engaged.
The food here was just as great, if not better, than it was 3 years ago. I truly do not think you could go wrong w/ any items on their menu. Prices are definitely fair as well.
Aside from the food, the ending of this night was what made it truly amazing. The owner, Jacques, literally drove us back to our hotel because we were unable to get a cab due to other events around the city.
This place goes above and beyond in all aspects of their dining experience.

im so lucky
to have this bistro right in the neighborhood.... such a great spirit, the food is amazing. Love it every time I go there.

Warm and friendly atmosphere. Appetizers and entrees prepared well and very pleasing to the eye. I mentioned on open table.com that we were having a birthday. The staff turned off the lights for a moment and brought out a dessert and sang "Happy Birthday" to our friend. A very nice touch. Looking forward to going back for more of their special treatment.

Amazing food....you must go here!
Stumbled across this place whilst searching for restaurants in San Francisco and didn't know what to expect but the food was unbelievably tasty & it's the best steak I've ever had!
If I was ever to return to San Francisco I'd definitely dine here again.

We can never find restaurants we like! Even though we were some of the last people there, we didn't feel rushed to leave which was so nice! The food was wonderful, the server was very knowledgable, and we will definitely be back!

What a wonderful surprise
I've dined here twice in the last 2 months and have had a wonderful meal each time, a true neighborhood gem. My guests were impressed as well, I'd rate this on par with restaurants I've dined in France.

Cozy neighbor restaurant
Good food and friendly service. Both the quail and the rack of lamb was delicious. The chocolate volcano dessert was very good as well. As for the pricing, average for a french restaurant.

Yummy neighborhood go to
We traveled from San Jose and choose this restaurant based on reviews. I think if you live close this would be a nice go to spot. The salad and brie app were good. The scallop risotto was bit heavy on red lobster sauce (not my fav). The beef cheeks were AMAZING. The wine list is OK. The server did not smile once and was a cold. The owner is personable and friendly (did not match the server's attitude). The dessert was good not great (tried volcano, cream puffs and balsamic strawberry for the table). Overall, if we lived close we would come back but the food/service/ambiance/location was not amazing enough to not want to try other places in the city.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Amazing as usual
Bistro Central Parc is where I keep coming back for more. Their escargots are unforgettable and I always love their streak frites and lamb. The restaurant is located somewhere in a quiet neighbourhood, so if you like to get out of the buzz of the restaurants in the city, this is it!

Niece Hannah's Post-Concert Dinner
We went to Bistro Parc Central after my niece's concert and it was amazing! The owner Jacques was actually ouside waiting for our party to arrive and made parking arrangements for me as it is difficult parking in this neighborhood. The atmosphere, food and wine were excellent, meeting our pretty demanding epicurean standards! This place is a true gem.

Great SF restaurant for those
Great SF restaurant for those seeking a moderately priced dining experienced outside of the downtown.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
A New Find
The portions are big enough that it is easy to share dishes which helps keep the cost down for an evening out. (Which means being able to go more often.) The eggplant soup, bouillabaisse and creme brûlée were delicious and the portions were ample for two people sharing the dishes. The staff were delightful and answered all our questions eagerly. Parking is not easy for if you can walk or take a bus (#5 Fulton for one), do so.
11/2/2013 5:00:00 PM
This small neighborhood restaurant had excellent food and service. Interesting fresh herbs mixed with fresh meats and seafood. Escargot was delicious, not overly buttery or oily. The broth was flavorful but not overpowering. Staff checked in regularly to ensure everything was good. Just the right mix of paying attention, but not overly solicitous. Excellent meal for a fair price.

So happy to eat here
This restaurant is two blocks from my apartment. It has a neighborhood feel to it. People take all their family members there. The owner/host is warm and welcoming. The wait staff is casual and nice but efficient. Love this place.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Everyone at Central Parc made my beau's birthday perfect. The service was awesome (super friendly and knowledgeable), the food was delightful, and the wine was perfect (thanks to Alex who picked it for us). The ambiance is friendly, not snobby, and although the noise level is "energetic" we could still have great conversation (mostly about how good the food was!). I am definitely going to be a regular here.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great neighborhood place
I've been here 5-6 times with different people and they all love the place as much as me. It is a great neighborhood French bistro. The food is very good, Jacques, the owner, is warm and inviting

Visit Paris bistro w/o leaving SF
Four of us enjoyed a leisurely pre-concert dinner; service was professional;owner stopped by twice to check.
The lighting was soft and the noise level quiet enough to allow easy conversation. The halibut t entree was beautifully presented and was perfectly cooked. The wait staff was very attentive and we enjoyed the total experience.

A great place to go
We booked blind , on line, received a great welcome ,despite a busy evening service, prompt friendly and polite and attentive service and food that was globally well seasoned and cooked to perfection. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good meal

Great dining experience
We have dined at Bistro Central Parc previously and always had a wonderful dining experience. This evening was no different. The food was exceptional. We started by sharing an onion soup and beet salad. The onion soup is the best we have tasted. The lamb shank and peppercorn steak were delicious. We finished with the volcano cake which was decadent. Coupled with a bottle of Rhone wine and a glass of port made for a perfect meal. Service was excellent. Our server was Alec who helped us in selecting our meal and wine and was very personable and added to making the overall evening enjoyable. This a go to restaurant in SF for us.
