Noisy but sooooo worth it.
Best Chicken on the bone I've ever had. Very consistent. And I'm very picky about sangria, and I love it here. The Peruvian combo (no fries, sweet plantains substituted) is so good, I have to order it every time. It's that good!

Excellent service, good food, and great value. Come hungry and plan to divide most dishes and/or take home a full doggy bag.

Good for the green sauce and groups
Pio Pio has the most consistent and excellent lunch special in the neighborhood. It $10 for 1/4 rotisserie chicken, side, salad and soda. I've taken large groups for a business lunch here, my dad we he visits, coworkers...everyone. The chicken is good, sides are good, salad so fresh and that green sauce--great. Definitely reccomended.

We arrived late but were still seated. The Peruvian Combo is excellent - $30 for two with enough chicken left over to feed another person. A gear find.

This place was great, a lot
This place was great, a lot of space for groups, and a lot of dishes were meant for sharing (like the Matador chicken combo and the Jalea seafood medley). When we were there, there were several big parties celebrating birthdays so it was quite festive with music and clapping.
I liked this place but would try out some other Peruvian place next time. I think the chicken portion needs to be bigger. The Matador combo is a bit overrated - most of it is the sides, and there definitely needs to be more chicken...you come here for the rotisserie chicken, not the salad or the plantains...

Although the wait staff was
Although the wait staff was friendly and attentive and the food was incredible, our appetizers were VERY slow to come out from the kitchen. We were STARVING! That was our only complaint. Otherwise, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, even all my super foodie friends.
3/25/2013 5:00:00 PM
Came with a bunch of girls to celebrate my sisters birthday. Fun place, definitely a place to go to celebrate something fun. A little touristy and the clientele is a little cheesy but its still fun. My only worry is they have a C health grade which is gross. Service a little slow but very friendly. The roast chicken is amazing!

More Interesting Food Out Far West
From the unassuming storefront in a new building on 10th Avenue, the restaurant opens up afte the long bar to a sunken large dining room with a balcony around it. This is a large place, with a beautiful interior with cieling and walls of bound sticks (I know, sounds strange but works well, with good lighting). A short but good and reasonably priced wine list. The mixed Ceviche was outstanding. Lots of interesting things to try, so we'll be back. Great for pre-dinner at the new Signature Theatre two short blocks away.

Great Place in HK!
I love Pio Pio! Good service, location, ambiance, but above all - amazing food! Whatever I order, I'm never disappointed! And the drinks are pretty good too. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in NYC.
6/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great value - so come hungry! The 2 of us had the Matador Combo with the amazing salchipapa - fries with mild slices of sausage on top. Simple, tender great chicken with flavorful beans. It gets LOUD so go early and sit upstairs rather than the lower pit-bowl if you are just 2 or 4. Good option pre-theatre. Would definitely return.

More than pollo
Pio Pio is touted as a rotisserie chicken restaurant. DON'T PIGEON HOLE IT! We had Corvina Inca, that terrific Peruvian dish, a Tamal Limeno appetizer and a Causa de Cangrejo appetizer, & fantastic cocktails. The Peruvian Kiss is a new favorite. Go to the Andes before your next Broadway show!
6/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, nice space, loud
The restaurant is really quite spacious which is awesome for its location. It is a bit on the dark side so you might want to whip out your phone for light and bring your reading glasses. The food was good, not too pricey. The server was really nice but the kitchen got backed up when the place started filling up and they took a long time to bring dessert. I'd go back again.

Great food and atmosphere!
Pio Pio offers great food (love the chicken!) in a great ambiance. My friends and I had our own private booth downstairs and were delighted by the great service. This was my second time here and I love the energetic ambiance.
6/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
great food and drinks. well located for eating before a show. very reasonably priced. and the staff made it a terrific experience. and they accommodated or request for diff seating at the last minute.

Went to celebrate my husbands birthday after dining at another Pio Pio. Was a great night out. Only negative was the "C" rating.

Two thumbs up
I been here twice in the last week. The food is exceptional, the bar is cool, and the environment is fun. It's pretty loud, but that doesn't matter (at all) when you start eating!!!!
7/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
Outstanding food. extremely affordable. love the ambience downstairs. very loud and energetic. only criticism was servers weren't able to explain the menu particularly well.
7/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Pio Pio went above & beyond after a comment I posted in my reservation. They listened and delivered. Everything was great. This was my friends' first time trying Peruvian food. They had a great time. Thank you!

Delicious, Rustic, Beautiful
Made reservations for 715 on a Monday but got there super early (630) party of 2. We were seated right away downstairs. The decor is great. Very rustic, natural touches, just beautiful. Servers were a little slow but very friendly. Ordered mozzarella appetizer and the Matador combo to share. Food was freaking delicious. Nice portion sizes as well. Had the rice pudding for dessert with fruit again no complaints, really good. Their drinks were tasty too. Had the mojito, caipirinha, and something else I forget all were very good. I will def be returning.
8/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Lovely... Unexpectedly great
Good food, good drinks. My first time having Peruvian food before and I was not disappointed
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was good but the seats are pretty close to each other if you go as a two people group.
I would recommend you to go as a small group so that you can share the combos and drinks.
8/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
Fully enjoyed the ceviche and full line of Peruvian foods a good friend from Lima has introduced me to over the years. The food was excellent, and service good too.
The ambiance is crowded and energetic. Don't look for romance here. The seating area is more like a cafeteria than a restaurant in my opinion. It's designed to pack in the patrons, serve them quick and get the next patron in. That's the only downside.
8/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
The noise level in the downstairs was over the top - we had to move to the upper level to have any kind of conversation with our guests.
8/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
I would recommend Pio Pio if yiu like good food - chicken is amazing. On the downside - people at reception are ignorant and impolite they behave themselves as if a customer is a necessary evil and improper waste of their valuable time and service is rather slow and inefficient. Wine is is limited and rather unimpressive (not from variety but from quality perspective is inferior to similar places).
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
We just couldn't stop eating... everything from seafood ceviche to roast chicken to avocado salad.
8/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food is on point!
Best food and mojito I've had ! Split the any of the combos easily among 3 people.
8/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food, good food but too noisy
Great food - have the ceviche and the chicken (Juanita's)
Good service - wait staff is attentive, enthusiastic
Way too noisy - the main dining room is below ground level and in typical NY style the tables are close together and people packed in. If the restaurant is crowded like it was on the Friday night, it is very difficult to have a conversation without shouting.
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food was very tasteful and comkes in good quantities.
THe Lomo asado was over the top and I recommend the Pinches Pacifico
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great service and friendly staff. Food was amazing also.

Dinner at Pio Pio
The food was wonderful and the staff was efficient and friendly. However, the noise at the Chelsea location was too much to have a nice conversation. I will go back to Pio Pio but not to this location because of the acoustics.
9/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Every time gets better
This was my fifth time and I will be back for more. I need to try every dish.

The food, service and ambiance were wonderful! Can't wait to go back!
10/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good Food! Average service.
I had reservations for a party of 6 and we were seated upon arrival. The wait staff was good but not exceptional. Rather slow and non-attentive most of the evening. We asked how many the Matador combo would feed and the waiter said 2 people. It was easily enough food for 3 and maybe 4. Once we saw the main order quantity we wanted to cancel the 1/2 order of the Matador also ordered but they would not do it. Our biggest complaint was the poor advice from the waiter and no effort to accommodate us. The other dishes at the table were very good as was the wine. Just remember the quantity is large which I guess is good if you are a big eater. Splitting an entre is recommended.
10/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
wonderful Saturday lunch!
Everything was great about our lunch! The food came out really fast and we were out in a little over an hour. I love this place because the food is delicious, reasonably priced, and the ambiance at this location is more modern and feels less cramped than the uws branch.

I come here every time I am
I come here every time I am in New York. It's great for groups and sharing plates. Food is always awesome!.. I took my friends here from Switzerland and they loved it. The meat is very tender and delicious!!.. I wasn't a fan of the pisco sour, for me it is an acquired taste..
The servers was very attentive..and quick..

Try the Cerviche you will not be disappointed also their house wines are excellent.

Unexpected Peruvian Gem
Looks can be deceiving. From the outside, Pio Pio looks like a tiny restaurant with no light, and no place to sit. Instead, what you find upon entering is a long, cozy hallway with intimate tables that opens up to reveal an *enormous* dining space. The decor is a modern take on organic symbolism--vertically spaced tree limbs that create the effect of sitting in a primal cave. The service was excellent--our waiter was incredibly knowledgable about the Peruvian dishes he so obviously enjoyed discussing. We started with the Cebiche, as Pio Pio is known for their selection... very much a good choice. Delicious, highly flavorful, and perfect for sharing. Our meals were all unique--our group of four couldn't help but sample each other's plates.
11/9/2013 4:00:00 PM
Very good food. Cool décor. Pretty loud. Group of 3. Split a tuna cebiche (can't find the name but it was tuna and avocado) and a Crovina and Lime cebiche. Tuna was fantastic. Corvina was also very good. One entrée was Peruvian Combo - really enjoyed - simple (but good) rotisserie chicken. One entrée was Lomo Saltado - basic beef stir fry - also very good. Last entrée was Camarones Cuzco - didn't try and diner enjoyed - but wasn't as "pretty" as the first two.

A memorable dining experience
I had an amazing time dining at Pio Pio for my boyfriend's birthday with some Peruvian friends. The ceviche was amazing and I especially loved the guava pisco and the pisco sours. I don't eat meat (only seafood), so I ordered a bunch of sides which was still cheaper than a dish and I had plenty of leftovers even after sharing my side dishes with my friends. My friends all loved their dishes and had totally clean plates. I asked the waiter to bring out a dessert for my boyfriend's birthday and it was a delicious tres leches cake. The bill wasn't too bad (about $60 per person).
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
Pio Pio is a gem of a restaurant with interesting dishes beautifully prepared. Peruvian dishes use a lot of cilantro, lime and avocado, as well as shellfish. This is the third time eating at Pio Pio though the first time at the one in midtown (others are Upper West Side and Jackson Heights in Queens). This site is beautiful but the noise level is deafening. I will certainly go again but try to find a time when it's less crowded so I can hear myself talk.
11/25/2013 4:00:00 PM
Beautiful restaurant and food is extremely tasteful.

Great chicken special
Matador entree has lots of great stuff and feeds 3-4 people. Shrimp Cuzco is divine. Good ceviche too.
