Our party of four all put
Our party of four all put it at the top of our list for Cajun dining. Great food. Small quaint atmosphere. Personable staff. Definitely a place we will go back to.

A piece of Louisiana in Denver...
Enjoyed the ambiance, food was amazing and great twist to staple cocktails.

It was my first time there
It was my first time there after they moved from downtown. It was a totally different experience, but the food was still very good. We sat inside to begin with, but the music was so loud that we couldn't carry on a conversation. They let us move outside and since the weather was very nice, it was quite comfortable. I had their mussels which were very good. I also had their red and gold beet salad. The greens were very fresh and the beet pesto was an excellent surprise. We will definitely go back. The service was prompt and friendly.

We were there early and had
We were there early and had no problem with parking or getting a table. The service was prompt and exceptional. The food had a beautiful presentation and was delicious. Since we had a birthday in the family, we received a complimentary bread pudding with ice cream. As we remembered, it was to-die-for.
We have told family and friends to try it out at least once - they'll go back on their own.

Love this place
My wife and I love eating here. It's one of our special places. Great food and the service is second to none! All restaurants needs to try and model the service given at Gumbo's.
5/23/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food was delicious, the service was terrific, and the ambience was perfect for our dinner party of 6! Everybody had a great time and will definitely be back!

More intimate than the previous
More intimate than the previous location. Food was still fantastic & waitstaff was better than the last time I went on 16th st. Glad to have you back!

Great Cajun Food
I am a southern girl, who has also lived in New Orleans. I know good N'Awlins type food. And I found it
at Gumbo's. Nice selection, great food, good prices, and good service (thank you Rick.)
I would love to see more oyster dishes. Overall, a great experience.
6/7/2013 4:00:00 PM
I love Gumbo's since they moved to this location. It more cozy and laid back. I would highly recommend this place. It's way better than their downtown location. Parking is a little challenging but overall the patio dining and good food make it worth it.
6/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
We always enjoy our dinner at Gumbo's. Kenzie and Kierstin made this meal and evening memorable. They really love their job and it shows in the excellent service they provide. Thanks for a fun evening!
6/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
I used to go to Gumbos on the 16th st Mall. This is a lot smaller, but it is very quaint. The menu is a little different. We had a Travelzoo voucher and had 2 starters, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. We had mussels and gumbo which were both very good. Had pork loin and sweet potato puree. Pork was very tender. Also had crab cake and chicken breast. The crab cake was excellent. I really liked the okra that came with the meal, but wished there was more on the plate. Desserts were mousse and cheesecake which were both great. The servings are much smaller than they used to be and the prices a bit high, but the food was very good. I would recommend Gumbos.

Glad You're Back
Went for Father's Day ... great meal, service and ambience. Now parking ... that's another thing!! That's city livin' for ya! ;-) We'll be back
6/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
Yay, I found you!
When the 16th Street Mall location closed I was totally bummed but now your up the street on 17th/Downing so I a happy camper again!
6/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
A delicious surprise
I received a special via TravelZoo for Gumbo's and figured since my husband loves Andouille and Gumbo this would be perfect to celebrate his birthday for just the 2 of us. We had reservations for 8pm. It was the perfect time to go not very many diners. Easy to find street parking. The wait staff is top notch. The food was amazing. I am sure we will return another evening for a special dinner out.

Love the food and Service
The food was GREAT, and the service is better. Very intimate, A MUST go back. Go you will love it.
6/29/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a wonderful time at Gumbos! First, the service is amazing. The food is very good.... We very much enjoyed the almond chicken and crab cake. Delicious. The outside patio was lovely. Watching Denver go by is almost as entertaining as watching an Oscar winning movie. The restaurant next door had their music really loud and was unavoidably blaring in our direction. I assume Gumbos has no control over that. And when I briefly went inside, I didn't notice the next door music at all. Overall, Gumbos was a great spot and a lot of fun.

Our Neighborhood Restaurant
Gumbo's is one of our favorites. Even though it isn't in our neighborhood, we look at it as our neighborhood restaurant. There is no other choice for Cajun cuisine. They have the best Happy Hour in town, well worth the drive north from the DTC during the afternoon rush hour. We particularly enjoy meeting friends there after work. Great patio dining.
7/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Happy hour at Gumbo's was an excellent treat, although I would have happily paid full price for the wonderful dining experience I had! I've never eaten in Louisiana, but Louisiana cuisine is something that I love. The food was excellent and the service was even better. I was planning to go back and visit the next day after my first visit, but my schedule wouldn't allow it! I can't wait to return to this wonderful establishment and enjoy the experience all over again! I think this is love... :-)
7/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
I love this joint but they must have changed chefs recently. the foot wasn't up to par as itI normally is. That's not going to stop me from returning tho.

Gem of a place
If you are craving some Cajun food this is the place. Food was very good as was the service. Plus the price point was a value for what we ordered. Recommended

Really like this place. Service
Really like this place. Service is friendly and efficient. Food gives a nice twist to N'awleans cuisine. The gumbo and ettoufee are well spiced without being "hot." I hesitate to recommend it for only one reason. I won't be able to find an Open Table!!!!!!!
8/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
I've been here many times and they never disappoint! Anytime I take someone here for the first time, they love it - even if they say they don't want Cajun food...I think people think you can only get gumbo and jambalaya. There is a lot to pick from and everything has always been delicious. The waiters are friendly and service is great!
8/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
Better than the old LoDo Gumbo's and much more reasonably-priced. Terrific Cajon/Creole in a charming small spot where the head chef can give personal attention to every dish. A fantastic addition to the 17th Avenue restaurant row.
8/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great Cajun Food
We stopped in the other night for some gumbo and found it quite tasty. Other entres include catfish and red beans and rice, all things you would like if you like Cajun food. We had bread pudding and beignets for dessert and both were delicious. The ambience was simple but inviting and the wait staff friendly and attentive. Their happy hour prices are amazingly reasonable. All in all a good experience.
8/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
FrenchQuarter has nothin on Gumbos
Wow we may have been dining on Bourbon Street sidewalk. I don't like brussle sprouts but
They were very special. Had the green beans just to test the chef and he did not let us down. The crispy catfish was superb and the blacked catfish was even better. Try the shrimp and gritz biskets, you will need em to soak up the sauces that are out of this world.

If you like Cajun food or
If you like Cajun food or great food in general you'll love gumbo's. We used to visit their old location downtown which closed and reopened uptown year later, much to our excitement. The new location on 17th is much smaller and quainter and the food is better then ever. We had a great waiter who made great suggestions and we left very happy with our experience. We will definitely go back. Btw they said they still do the killer happy hour they did at the old location plus all day Sunday. Check it out.
8/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
We bought a TravelZoo BOGO offer and were pleasantly surprised at the wonderful food, atmosphere, and service at this quaint restaurant in UpTown Denver. I would call the food Gourmet Southern. The artwork was a topic of conversation as well as the amazing food. The prices were reasonable and the waiter was friendly. We met the owner/head chef and had a lively discussion about Denver and food. Such fun! I highly recommend this restaurant. We were told that the Happy Hour is amazing-large portions of food and libations for great prices, so we will be checking it out soon. We also plan to have a family dinner there in the near future.

5 Stars Not Enough
I am from Mississippi and I love Cajun/Creole food. I can say the Fried Catfish and Crawfish Etouffe is authentic. Sooooo good.

Having dined at Gumbo's previous
Having dined at Gumbo's previous location we knew and liked this restaurant. The new location exceeded our expectations. The quality of the food and the generous servings were exceptional. We will return.
9/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
Excellent as always!
This restaurant never disappoints. Everything was wonderful!
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
A VERY NICE PLACE, GREAT FOOD, VERY GOOD SERVICE. BUT A BIT PRICY AT $110.00 FOR 2 PEOPLE
9/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice to know Louisiana style cafe!
Service quite attentive but food came slowly. Excellent blending of flavors in sauces.Food fresh.
9/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
Great food and great service
We made our reservation and got there early but they were able to seat is right away. The food was amazing and the service was great. This was our anniversary dinner and could not have chosen a better place to dine. Our waiter was friendly and made some great recommendations. We sat outside and it was beautiful. would highly recommend this to everyone no matter the occasion.

Gumbo's is the Place!
I'm from New Orleans and had been craving the good cuisine you can only get in New Orleans. Well, Gumbo's was it. The food brought me back to my hometown. The flavor was superb! It was just the place to bring friends. We were celebrating the 28 anniversary of close friends and took them to Gumbo's. We had a wonderful time. The ambience was very different than what Gumbo's used to be when it was Downtown Denver. However, I'd rather have good food than a fancy place, and that it was, good food. Overall, the food was surprisingly good and I would visit again.
9/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had not visited Gumbo's since they relocated to E 17th Avenue from downtown. It is much smaller and intimate. There were 4 of us and the food was outstanding, from the small plates to desserts. If you want to eat in a hurry, wait until you can dine with plenty of time. The service was excellent and the waitperson was fun and informative and offered suggestions. This is definitely a go-back!!
9/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
Delicious authentic Creole and cajan cooking. The crabcakes, crawfish etouffee, blackened catfish and cod were amazing. Try the sweet potato cheesecake for dessert. It will change your world!
9/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
This is our first trip to this location. We had been the downtown restaurant several times throughout the years. The food is even better now. Most notably the Tilapia Ponchitrain, however, we were impressed with the entire dining experience and we ordered a good portion of the relatively small menu. We will be back.
9/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
A group of us met for book club and found the service to be great! We were there during happy hour and amazed at the really good food for really reasonable prices. We had the BBQ shrimp, Brussels Sprout, Gumbo, Crawfish Fritter, and Sweet Potato Cheesecake. It was all so good. I've already recommended the restaurant to others.

Gumbos it is!
I have been a fan of Gumbo's for years, however this new location has its set backs, weekend evening parking is a JOKE! So plan on arriving early and having a bit of a walk. The owners have down sized dramatically but they have managed to sustain the intimate environment. The menu is small and there is still a pretty good selection not a spot for Vegan, very good crawfish etoufee; more so a cafe style menu and not so much big restaurant chain style. Overall, for a good meal, a night out and a friendly environment this is the SPOT!
11/1/2013 5:00:00 PM
The last time I went to Gumbos it was just so-so. It was if they had a "cheff-in-training" or just a bad day. Either way, I wasn't giving up on my favorite southern restaurants. Upon my return, the food was great, the service was great, everything was great.
Welcome back to my No. 1 spot!
11/4/2013 4:00:00 PM
lovely but scaled back
Was always a big fan of Gumbo's on 16th St. First visit to this new location. Food quality and service did not disappoint. Enjoyed delicious blackened chicken and finished with favorite New Orleans style custard, although portions seemed a bit smaller. Service was enthusiastic and attentive. Nice enough environment but missed trappings of the 16th St location. Will come in future but not a special occasion destination as in past.
11/5/2013 4:00:00 PM
an authentic taste of new
an authentic taste of new Orleans! having spent many years there, it was a pleasure to enjoy the food and ambiance without having to cook it myself! Waiter was knowledgeable and attentive and helped to explain the dishes to a friend who had never had Cajun or creole food before. The gumbo was my favorite, rich and thick with plenty of flavor. Thanks! We'll be back.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Loved the gumbo, mussels, and shrimp with grits. Skip the popcorn crawfish and shrimp.
11/12/2013 4:00:00 PM
Love That Gumbo
This was our first visit to the "new" Gumbo's. We had really enjoyed the old location, but I thought the new space, menu, music and ambience were even better than before!! We both had a cup of gumbo, which is incredible!! The blackened salmon salad was just delicious, and my husband's pork tenderloin was very good! Excellent coffee and bread pudding with vanilla ice cream were a great finish!! Our only concern was not seeing jambalaya on the menu!
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
The food was wonderful and priced very reasonable. The staff was awesome. We will definitely be going back again.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Delicious food and great service! Need I say more? Well, actually there is more I can say. The paternal side of my family is from Louisiana, so much of the types of food served at Gumbo's was part of my culinary experience growing up. Gumbo's serves the most authentic flavors of any of the restaurants in Denver claiming to serve cajun, creole or Louisiana influenced food.
11/15/2013 4:00:00 PM
Great Weekend Happy Hour
The food and service were fabulous. And it was a bonus that there is Happy Hour on the weekends. I would highly reccomend it for good food without blowing your budget. Also it is much easier to access on the weekends than the restaurants downtown.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
We enjoyed our evening at Gumbo's the food and service were superb. Prices were very reasonable $13 to $21.00 for entrees, good wine list and again reasonable prices. I would mention that handicap parking is not to be found, although the restaurant is handicap accessible and they are very accomadating.
11/22/2013 4:00:00 PM
We had a great experience!
We had a great experience! The service and food were outstanding!

We had a wonderful time out
We had a wonderful time out the nite before Thanksgiving. The people were very friendly, the service was exceptionally and the food was awesome. When we next return to Denver from San Francisco this will be the first place on our list to return to.
