My wife and I were celebrating our 15th anniversary. This was a perfect choice. The staff was fun, and very friendly, attending to all of our needs.

Everything about our meal
Everything about our meal was delicious! The ambiance was great........loved that it was full but still quiet enough to have a conversation without having to shout across the table.

Nice Bistro Dinner
We dined in the "basement" room, which is decorated sort of like a French shrine under a cathedral. It was cozy and quiet. The food was nice bistro fare: salads, roast chicken, cassoulet. Portions are large, so consider sharing.

Paris in Savannah
We stop regularly in Savannah when traveling to Florida each year and had a hard time finding a place in Savannah that didn't seem like a tourist stop. We have succeeded with Circa that is a true local gem with an authentic french bistro quality and feel.

a great experience!
I had eaten here with a good friend while visiting Savannah. This was our best restaurant experience by far. We were seated downstairs in the "wine cellar", and Michael was a FANTASTIC and enthusiastic and knowledgeable server. I highly recommend!

We had a wonderful evening of dining here while visiting Savannah. Our server, Rebecca , was friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Her wine parings with our meal was excellent. We enjoyed Cassoulet Maison (excellent;very flavorful) and Steak Frites. The NY strip quality was more of a filet. Everything coming from the kitchen looked and smelled wonderful.
I would definitely return!!

In noisy, traffic-ridden, tourist-trappy Savannah, Circa 1875 was a wonderfully welcome find. Our meals (lamb shank, steak frites) were excellent, the service was just right (our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive), and the atmosphere was subdued -- a little bit formal (i.e. no backward baseball caps and flipflops), very comfortable and cozy, We'd make a detour to Savannah just to repeat our evening at Circa 1875.

Being French, we always try to avoid French restaurants, worried that we would have too high expectations. But my parents visiting, we wanted to give them a night of familiar savors. Our table was very intimate, in the “dungeon”, and our server was very amicable. The menu was genuine, and the food prepared like “home”. We definitively had our fix of French delicacies and great wine. Recommended for special occasion.

I've eaten here almost every time I been in Savannah. The French food is always good and very authentic. The wine list is superb and they also have a full bar. I recommend this restaurant highly as one of the best in Savannah!

Really good french food. I
Really good french food. I had Casolette which is very traditional french dish and it was excellent. Also the country pate. The service was also very attentive and the waitress was even from Paris. It has the look and feel of a Paris bistro which is also nice. The bar is a noisy but is divided from the restaurant by a fairly substantial wall which cuts most of the noise.

Simply wonderful food
A group of 4 of us dined and enjoyed the cassoulet, trout, vichyssoise, Caesar salad, etc. Substantial, well priced ins list. Superb service from a knowledgable server. Great atmosphere.

Nice dinner in a quiet spot
My husband and I had dinner here last weekend. He had the steak frites and loved it and I had the special which was wolf fish which I had never had before and it was delicious. We had crepes suzette for dessert and I've been thinking about those crepes ever since! We plan to go back hopefully in the near future - definitely recommend.

Charming restaurant with great food
Went with two girlfriends. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food. The waitstaff was very helpful and attentive. The portions were surprisingly large, in fact two of us could not finish our meals. The dessert menu did not sound very appealing to any of us so we chose not to order anything from it. Prices were reasonable in my opinion. For $50, I got a cocktail, a glass of wine, half a salad, and an entree.

Special night out
Making a selection from the many outstanding fine dining establishments was quite difficult. We were very pleased that we selected Cicra since eveything about the evening experience was outstanding. The food, the wine and the service could not have been better. The dining area where we were was a bit small and I would describe it more as a bistro. My wife and I would definitely recommend Circa to our friends as a fine dining establishment.

We thoroughly enjoyed are dinner at this French style restaurant. The service was very attentive and pleasant. The restaurant is small and very welcoming along with great food.

Romance ala France
An authentic bistro in Savannah?
Crisp lardons, garlicky snails, warm bread like it come from a bakery in Montmartre, and attentive but not fawning service.
We return again and again, and are always pleased!

My wife and I had a great meal ... good food and good service!

A quick trip to Paris.
Ambience, menu, wine selections all add up to a real bistro experience.
Great escape ..... and no customs lines!

I hate to write about Circa 1875 and give it the glowing recommendation that it deserves, because us local Savannians will not have a perfect gem of a restaurant to go to! Circa is one of our top 2 favorite Savannah restaurants for several years. They never have dissappointed us. The wait staff is excellent, attentative and willing to do whatever it takes to make your visit very special! The food is out of this world good, and prepared perfectly! We love the quaint atmosphere and after a filling dinner, a quick walk around City Market and down to Lulu's for an after dinner drink ...... rounds out a beautiful evening.

A Romantic Dinner
Intimate in scale and layout, with an attentive staff and good food at not-too-high prices, Circa 1875 was a nice find in a town with quite a few very fine restaurants.
We ate in the wine cellar (four tables) where it was extra quiet, dimly lit and quaintly decorated.
Dinner for two with cocktails came to just over $100, so it was not "bargain" fair, but a similar meal at Elizabeth or Local 11 Ten would have run twice that. The wine list was extensive, and featured some quite nice vintages. The food, though not "cuisine", was of fine ingredients assembled well with nothing out of place or over spiced and satisfied both in flavor and portioning.

Oh so very lovely
So we arrived here quite late on Wednesday after our flight got in- and were seated at a wonderful corner table. The building was delightful, the decor fantastic - I felt like I could almost be in Paris. The hostess ( wish I could remember her name) was great, full of energy, perfectly attentive, knowledgeable on the menu and the wine and when I told her I was vegetarian she steered me way from the chips which were fried in duck fat. Not sure how many other people would do have done that.
Our dinner was so relaxed, food delish, I could have sat there all night - and even when we were the only ones left, we were not rushed to leave.
If I return to Savannah - I would definitelty go back.

Evening in Savannah
We enjoyed the evening - our first in Savannah. It was easy to make reservations on line - a plus. The restaurant was wonderful; food was delicious and service outstanding.

This is a very special place
During a weeklong stay, far and above, the best meal I had in Savannah. Not only was the food amazing, every single employee at this restaurant went above and beyond to make our evening wonderful. In a tourist filled town, this restaurant epitomizes Southern hospitality, flavored with excellent French cooking.
7/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
Simply well done
Everything was first rate, perfectly prepared, well presented and reasonably priced for the quality. The décor fits the food and you can hear yourself think. We'll be back.

Couldn't have been better!
We stayed at the Bohemian hotel nearby and the bartender recommended Circa 1875. We went for an early dinner and Lynn was our server. She was incredibly warm, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. The atmosphere was very inviting and the food was fabulous! We have dined in lots of places but we were truly impressed.

Open in spite of a recent
Open in spite of a recent accident where a car drove through the front door (!) My husband and I were visiting Savannah from Calgary, Alberta and went to Circa our last night in town. We were seated in a lovely little cellar room in the basement - warm, interesting, intimate. Food was delicious and well-presented, Service was friendly but professional and impeccable. Highly recommended.

What a find!
We had drinks and a half plate of the "plateau du chef" at the bar because we arrived early. The bartender recommended a couple of wines and let us sample them both. Her recommendations were spot on for the wines and the appetizer! Dinner was superb as well. The waitress recommended a fish special to my wife and it was fantastic! (that is saying a lot because I am not particularly fond of fish). We had a wonderful evening.

Thanks for a great night out in savannah for our anniversary.
Great service, food and drinks

Circa 1875 was a very nice place to celebrate our 28th Anniversary. We always look for a differenct/special place on this occassion, and I would definitly return and recommend it to others.
Thanks for a great experience.

The food was amazing here. The server was very knowledgeable about not only all of the menu items but he wine list as well. The special cream of mushroom soup with cremini mushrooms and the Caesar salad with white anchovies were both outstanding. Both were seasoned just right to enhance, but not makes the flavors of the fresh ingredients. Seafood entrees were great. great spot for a romantic dinner or small groups. The noise level was just right to be able to enjoy conversation at the table and listed to the great dinner music in the background. Will definitely come back here on our next trip to Savannah.

Savannah meets Paris Bistro
Had the flounder en papillote. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The only complain that our table had was that the lamb shank was under seasoned and bland., otherwise 5s all around.
10/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were visiting my son for the weekend and chose Circa 1875 as a spot to meet for lunch. Even though the restaurant's atmosphere made it feel like we were underground the history of the building made it easy to overlook. The staff was pleasant and made our visit very nice. The food was good for a quick lunch and the Bloody Mary's were excellent. I will visit this restaurant again.

Wonderful little bistro in downtown Savannah: great food, great ambience, great service. Classic French food, without the pretense. The perfect spot for our 33rd anniversary dinner!

Best meal in Savannah
Circa 1875 was a wonderful find. After trying all two other recommended restaurants; olde pink house and Elizabeth on 37th, I have to say Circa 1875 was the best. The ambience hits you as soon as you enter. You can imagine that you are in Paris. The wait staff and Maitre'D were extremely attentive. Now the food. The grilled frisee salad should not be missed. The special of the night was Carolina Trout with glazed carrots and capers. It was fantastic and dont forget the sides. The brussel sprouts were like candy. We finished with a wonderful crepes suzette. Fantastic evening.
10/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
the right decision
When we arrived were told that they were out of the 2 entree items we had gone there for. Discussed leaving and going elsewhere. That would have been BIG mistake. Had the plateau du Chef which was very good. Wife had beet salad which was lacking beets and dressing but well presented. For an entree I had the night's special which was a trout with a capers lemon buttter sauce. wife, who doesn't order fish in a resturant tasted it and said it was the best fish she tasted in long time. I agree. In the end staying was the right decision.
10/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
the meal was very good but I thought the service could be better - when I needed a server I had to wave my hand a lot since the wait staff congregated together at the back and were not looking at the patrons - in excusable for this type of restaurant.

Gem In Savannah's Historic District
We always stop in Savannah on our return from FL to NC. First time to Circa 1875 but won't be our last. Great bar, impeccable service. Drinks in the bar before dinner were terrific. Once seated in the cozy dining room, the outstanding warm bread arrived. Nice wine list. I had the cassoulet, my wife the braised lamb shank. Both were superb, esp. on a rainy night as was the case on the night of our visit. We felt like we were back in Paris. Finished the meal with a shared creme brulee. Could not ask for a better meal.

Bistro cozy dining
I enjoyed my mussels in delicious white wine sauce that I needed a spoon to finish -- it was that good. Warm bread, good red wine, my guy enjoyed his scallops. Very pleasant evening out. And attentive friendly but not too precious wait staff.

Wonder dinner and conversation time with my wife on the first real "date night" we've had in months.

Good food with a French flair
Good food with a French flair -- recommend asking to be seated downstairs for a quieter and more intimate experience
Duck, trout and cassoulet dishes were terrific -- downstairs server (we've had him several times) is attentive, pleasant and helpful

Really great food, attentive
Really great food, attentive but not overwhelming service...a good refuge from a cold, rainy night. Couldn't have found a better place to celebrate a major birthday with wife and best friends. Trout was superb, crepes suzettes best I've ever eaten. Even a loud, obnoxious foursome at the next table couldn't ruin this excellent experience. We will definitely be back!
11/14/2013 4:00:00 PM
We ate downstairs on a Friday night the decor was fun had French feeling. There was a larger dining room upstairs,
The very lively bar was next door. My date was from Belgium. Both of us have traveled extensively in Franc. We both ordered fish hers was in paper mine was sautéed. Both dishes very good. The wine was very nice...moderately priced bottle of Argentine, White. We were seated somewhat close to a celebratory group of woman having a grand time. Not too loud. The service was top-notch. We had a very good time. We will go back I'm sure. Maybe week night would be even better.

A cozy & classy restaurant!
Our server was prompt and detail oriented. He anticipated our needs. The food came out hot and delicious. The suggestions were fantastic. Thank you for providing a memorable experience at your restaurant.

Great Savannah Restaurant
We had a great dining experience at Circa 1875. They were remodeling the entrance, but it didn't interfere with the experience. As four foodies who like to experience a variety of foods we highly recommend the Circa 1875. The lamb shank was so tender and delicious we have decided to try that for our own New Year's Eve dinner. The duck was also excellent and they wine list good enough for a second bottle.
