We dined there right after Chef Fong had won the Fire on the Dock competition - well deserved! The mahi was excellent - tender & tasty. The local cheese appetizer was huge and delicious. We shared it and brought some home! Overall a great experience - not cheap, but worth it.

I will recommend this restaurant to all of my friends and family. This restaurant is fantastic for all occasions except for a romantic dinner too noisy.

My husband and I had attended one of the chef competitions in Wilmington this past spring and Gerry was one of the chefs in the competition. He won that evening and we commented that we would like to eat at Persimmons when in the New Bern area. As my husband and I were traveling through New Bern on our way to Wilmington for Thanksgiving, we decided to spend the night and go to Persimmons to try some of Gerry's other dishes. We loved everything we had to eat--the Ahi tuna and scallops for appetizers and the duck and skirt steak for dinner. Everything was prepared perfectly with interesting sides! We wish we lived closer so that we could go to Persimmons more often!

We always enjoy Persimmons - brought our Thanksgiving guests there for a change from turkey leftovers and everyone loved their meals. Only complaint is the noise level - especially downstairs.
