Dark Dining is great
This is a fantastic experience with delicious food. It may seem expensive but you get what you pay for. Without vision you focus on using your other available senses.

This is a great place to go if you want to experience something very unique. You really can't see anything so you have to have a sense of adventure but the servers take very good care of you and you will have a lot of fun! I definitely recommend this for a special occasion.

The experiance is wonderful
The experiance is wonderful and worth the money!! Waiter needs to annouce himself when he comes up to the table and not just touch a person. I got startled many times due to this.

dinning in the dark!
this was the most amazing experience....your server is blind and you dine in the pitch dark!
so romantic and a time to learn so much about yourself.
everyone must try it!

The experience was interesting.
The experience was interesting. Eating and getting around in complete darkness was a first. The food was better than I expected after reading the reviews but not worth the $100 per person set menu (does not include drinks). However, you are paying for the experience and the laughs. Hold onto your drinks when the waiter comes as she knocked over our drinks 3 times during the course of the evening and I was drenched. Also, another waiter knocked into my head with a pitcher of water, some guy walked into our table and my date got her breasts bumped into by the waiter when clearing the table. Few screams and lots of laughs, if you have a sense of humor.

An adventure, not a meal
On a visit to Los Angeles to see my grown kids, I wanted us all to have a "shared experience." Of course, eating here isn't about the food, although the filet mignon was excellent. All of us came out of Opaque with an enhanced sense of, well, our senses.

Definitely an experience,
Definitely an experience, dining in total darkness is not for the timid. Food is average, but that isn't the point. Waitstaff is fun and helpful.

Had a great time with my boyfriend for a special occasion. Definitely an experience neither of us will ever forget, very romantic and adventurous. I felt that the food was overpriced.

My husband and I went for the first time. We had a blast! It was definitely a one time deal where I more than likely will not go back. It was $99 per person and although the food was good, we definitely feel we paid for the experience. We went in knowing that we were paying for the experience. You really gotta go in with an open mind. We definitely would recommend it!

Food for Sight
This was our first visit to Opaque - we live in Vancouver and were just visiting for the week. We arrived earlier than expected, but were immediately greeted by the friendly staff who were more than accommodating. Since this was our first time with dining in the dark the hostess walked us through the process and took our order (you order before entering into the dark). She then introduced us to our server, Michael (up until we arrived we were unaware that all the servers are all partially or legally blind). Michael was nothing short of exceptional. He was kind, friendly, and always attentive - the pitch black is intimidating at first but Michael made sure we felt at ease. The food was spectacular too - highly recommended establishment!

Unique and great experience
Dining in complete darkness is a unique experience, that focuses your senses to touch, taste and hearing. It gives a new appreciation of sight and the difficulties visually impaired people face every day. It can also be a very romantic experience. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Just don't bring your kids.

Everything it says it is. Incredibly dark, almost claustrophobic but very fun once one gets used to the dark. Food was great. Went for a 20th birthday celebration. Not much ambiance since it is so dark but highly recommended for those who wish to indulge in an unique dining experience.

It was a great experience
It was a great experience because of the people I was with. For most of the evening we were the only table seated. It would have been better if there were more groups eating. Unfortunately, our server stood by the wall and talked with another server most the night... as a fine dining experience, it was a bit irritating.

Food was good. Experience
Food was good. Experience was very fun would of like to see a little more of taking advantage of the heighten senses like what was done with the Appetizer. Felt cost was a little high but if portion of the cost goes to help the blind then I have no problem with the cost. I would say it was nothing fancy but fun.

This place gives you a new respect for the blind. This restaurant was very humbling in many degrees. We learned about our amazing server Margarita who was amazing and realized how fortunate we are to be able to use our slight which we take for granted. Not on purposely of course but we do not understand what it's like to loose our sight. Food was delicious and flavorful. We had them split the salmon and filet dish and tried both if the salads and deserts. Deserts were below average to me but my boyfriend ate the whole thing. Hope this review finds you coming there. We will definitely be back.

After reading mediocre reviews I went ahead and checked it out and I was pleasantly surprised! Staff were extremely friendly, the food was delicious, and the experience was memorable. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit! Would recommend for special occasions for people looking for a unique experience. The price was $99 per person.

Fun time and fantastic food
I took my daughter and her friend to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I was visiting from St. Louis and had heard about the restaurant on one of the food channels. We had a wonderful time. From accidentally sticking your fingers in the butter to the delicious food, it was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences. I had read reviews for Opaque before we went, several commenting that the food was good but nothing spectacular. I disagree. I like to cook and am a good cook and make gourmet meals for fun. My salmon was better than any I've ever had. Our server, Marguerite was fantastic. I would recommend asking for her as a server.

Where do I even begin? What
Where do I even begin? What an incredible experience that was. I highly recommend anyone even considering going, goes. You will walk out of the restaurant feeling entirely different and having a new lease on life. You will appreciate everything more...your sight, your sense of taste, smell, touch....
(IF YOU CHECK IN ON YELP, YOU GET A FREE MYSTERY DRINK).
A server who is visually impaired or legally blind, greets you in the light and then leads you into the pitch black room. He will have you hold his shoulder and your date hold yours. The servers are so kind, so patient, so calming and know that this will be a very "different" experience for you.
From there, I'll leave the experience for you.

I found the food to be perfectly fine, with some dishes being too salty. Portions are large. My five stars isn't for the quality of the food, it's for the quality of the experience. At first, I felt helpless and disoriented. I mistakenly dipped my fingers in the butter and was unable to find my food. Eventually, I got acclimated and I appreciated that our server did not seem disoriented at all. I recommend chatting up your server and learning about him or her. Our server had been blind for 15 years. For 90 minutes, we experienced a small fraction of what he has lived for a decade and a half. Opaque isn't about fine dining or dazzling decor; it's about experiencing the rare opportunity to be in someone else's shoes in a very dramatic way.

This dining experience was definitely original in its entirety. The background of this experience is amazing and thoughtful. I love the fact that the wait staff have a definite purpose in being there, It makes the experience all the more enjoyable. Mike, our server, was gracious and very kinda and willing to talk and explain. It was for a good cause and would consider coming back.

Such an amazing experience!
Loved dining in the dark! We enjoyed every moment of living in another persons shoes, even if it's only for dinner. I love the service, food could have been better for $99 a person, but they do donate to a charitable cause. Everyone must try this out! Great for date night, not appropriate for kids. Go go go!!!

One of the time experience
What a one of the time experience, Me and my wife we weren't aware that it will be pitch black there, and that visually impaired people work there. Food was great! Would recommend it to everyone. Great place for unusual cool date.
