One of my favorites in L.A.
Creative cocktails and food. Everything is beautifully executed, delicious, and leaves you wanting to return for the rest. The service is excellent with a very knowledgeable staff. Great place to wow out-of-towners.

Red Medicine is the perfect cure!
Amazing food, brilliant, genius interpretation and execution. Layer upon layer of inventive and unique flavors. How does he think of these? Our waitress was adorable, and the entire staff that served us was very enthusiastic and proud of Chef. A dining experience not to be missed! The one drawback was the loud noisiness of the restaurant...there is a theatre next door which clearly contributed to the amount of early diners and the bursting crowds filling the bar to eat quickly. Otherwise, truly a culinary experience not to be missed.

More than expected!
After reading the menu, my friends weren't excited, but after we were served our first dish, they were thrilled. Our waitress was wonderful as she explained every dish perfectly. From the parsnips, the crunchy crab spring rolls, the sweet potatoes, the indian eggplant to the dungenous crab, the scallops and the coconut dessert, we enjoyed every bite!! I know that we ordered a few more dishes and enjoyed those too! This is a dining experience that should not be missed by any of my fellow foodies! Make your reservation and have a fabulous meal!!! Kudos to the chef!!!

Great food, mediocre service
Food was excellent and service was prompt. However, the waitress was really pushy with respect to the number of entrees she "recommended" we order. Waitress stated that "they" recommended parties the size of ours order a certain amount of dishes and when we asked if we could order some dishes at first and then order more later, she said that it "would not be a good idea to do that b/c they couldn't predict when dishes would come out". As expected, pre-cooked appetizers came out very quickly and we ended up ordering way too much food which would not have happened if the waitress would have been more "patient".
7/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
I love "little plate" places altho they do tend to end up being very expensive because you have to order many dishes.
I think that most of the plates here were very small, very "esoteric" and a bit over priced for what you get. They do have some "large platters" but we did not order any of those
There were 7 of us and we ordered quite a few dishes (maybe 8 or 9) and there were only 2 that we all said were great. The others were good but there are better places to go for this type of dinner especially AOC

A True Treat
A true gem, i would highly recommend this restaurant.

Red Medicine is an e ticket in food
Our foodie family loves dining at Red Medicine. We chose the Tasting Menu for our party of four. The visual appeal is the first thrill. But the taste never cease to surprise, delight, and kind of stun us! Three cheers to Jordan and company! Gadz, you people work hard. We thank you for the ongoing brilliance of your culinary masterpieces.

Really, really great
Creative, exciting, and friggin' delicious! Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating... Even gave us a great table when we showed up 30 min early for our rez. Our waitress did a great job explaining everything on the rather cryptic menu. Actually, the opacity of the menu was ultimately a good thing as it promoted interaction with the waitress and kicked the dinner off to rousingly good start.
The large format porkbelly was the highlight.
7/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
We were seated immediately. Food was paced a bit herky/jerky for our taste, however water was refilled often and new plates were brought for each course.
The food is unusual and tasty, however some dishes really miss the mark. Chicken potstickers were terrific but the pork cheek is quite fatty. When we asked why the response was "that's the way that particular animal part is." When the server suggests that we order 6 dishes for two people, and we're completely stuffed after 4 dishes, it sounds like they've been instructed to up-sell and that leaves a really bitter taste in the mouth. Overall, the staff are professional, but felt a bit mechanical and not warm and welcoming.
Would we return? Probably, but we'd order much differently.

Artistic and great taste
I saw this restaurant on Bizarre Foods, will have to say the food was not bizarre in anyway. We went with the multi-course tasting option, and the flavors for each dish was great. What we liked about this place from the show, was that the presentation for the food was incredible and as mentioned earlier the food was delicious.
I didn't check off the kid-friendly portion, since our reservations were around 5:30-6 PM on a Friday, so during this time period, it seemed acceptable to me, as we had brought our 10 yr old. There are options for the kids to eat, Chicken Dumplings were very good, and presented nicely just like the other dishes. The wait staff was great as they explained each dish and the characteristics to us prior to us digging in.

Amazing synergy of tastes and creative presentation. A unique and special dining experience in an elegant and yet casual atmosphere. Great cocktails! Good service.

Delicious and fun!
Had such a wonderful experience dining here. The food was so unique and creative from anything I've ever had. Flavors that I would never think to put together some how made total sense. Loved it!

I believe this is the 2nd
I believe this is the 2nd best meal I have ever had, the first being the French Laundry in Napa Valley, CA. Rather than a meal, this was an experience. The timing of each dish was perfect, the presentation was fascinating and the flavors were incredible. Expecting to enjoy a meal with family, we were there for over 3 hours and enjoying every moment. The ingredients of each dish were so unusual, that we found ourselves enjoying leaves and flowers without hesitation. I would consider the chef a genius at the way he has envisioned and plated each item on the menu. Although on the more expensive side, worth every minute. I will recommend this restaurant to everyone and am looking forward to returning.

'Fun' dining experience
Food was delicious. Everything is unique and crafted with interesting ingredients. Especially recommend the chicken dumplings, brussel sprouts, and the pork.

How to please your wife
My wife had this joint on her bucket list, so we went on her birthday and it was a very fun experience. The fame and attention this place gets helped in the anticipation of going there. The food is very-good but the portions are small so we ordered 4 plates. Ironically we were full at the end of the dinner. Our waitress was very nice but the bar tender may come across as smug - but thats not his fault/after all he has to deal with the Hollywood crowd all the time - that would make me crazy too. If you are a foodie you will love this place. For the price though, I will stick to my normal Korean BBQ, Dim Sum and "value priced" places but for special occasions Red Medicine is perfect!
8/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
A spectacular meal. All the dishes looked beautiful and were delicious..

Go with an open mind and a willingness to be led through an exquisite dining experience like no other. We got the tasting menu, perfect choice. Combinations of food I never dreamed imaginable, but were magical combinations and once in a lifetime flavors and textures in my mouth. I've told everyone I know. This chef whoever he is, is the Einstein of food. Absolute genius. The only suggestion is to consider some treatment to the ceilings and/or walls to absorb some of the noise.

Party in ur mouth!
Love it...keeps you guessing ...had the chefs tasting menu....highly recommended...!!!!!!!

Halibut and Brussels Sprouts
Halibut and Brussels Sprouts were great. Wine was marked up a bit high. Would probably go back.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a very special meal at Red Medicine. The kitchen executes their dishes to perfection. Fun, inventive, delicious food in a relaxed, casual environment. The cocktails were equally fun and adventurous. We loved everything we ate, though the Trout Roe with rice pudding stood out more than any other dish. Incredible presentation and amazingly well prepared. We had no idea what to expect, but we were left wanting more. Also, their coconut bavarois dessert (coffee ice cream, condensed milk, thai basil with peanut cookie) was totally amazing too.
8/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food and servo were fantastic!
Food and servo were fantastic! Will definitely go back for the tasting menu.
8/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
Good Food & Ambiance...
but expensive. Right up the alley of a Son of a Gun and Animal with shareable plates that will delight the palate but it was very expensive.
8/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
Although Red Medicine has been here for a few years this was our first experience. The menu is very limited but dont let that fool you. The food is absolutely incredible!!! A must try. Well be back
8/28/2013 12:00:00 AM
one of the best restaurant of LA. creative cooking, balanced, surprising, amazing
9/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Went here for the first time before a concert at the Saban. With thoughtful assistance from our server, we ordered an assortment of the best dishes I have eaten anywhere all year. Inventive, delicious, elegant and beautifully presented. A grown-up yet very fun dining experience.
9/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was awesome and each plate was a work of art! If you are a foodie looking for unique dining experience, this place is a must visit dining experience!
9/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
subtly prepared exotic flavors were completely satisfying. very unique
9/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
astoundingly good food!
I went with a group of 6 on the early side, before it became too noisy. The food was fantastic. We shared 6 plates, ordering 2 of each, which was just right for the 6 of us. They included the chicken dumplings, leeks, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, crab, and beef. We also shared 3 desserts. It is definitely not cheap, but each dish was memorable. The cocktails were also unique and delicious. I will definitely go again.
9/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
We heard a lot of good things about Red Medicine before eating here and it did not disappoint. The plating was gorgeous, probably the most unique part of the experience. The flavors were interesting and tasted great. I thought the price for the tasting menu was very fair ($65) compared to other tasting menus. This would be a good place for someone to go who wants to try some of the interesting things you would see on TV.
9/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
The food was excellently prepared and displayed. I found the menu a little hard to read as most descriptions do not include the preparation or all main ingredients. We had to ask our server what everything was, which became a little tedious. But the food was so delicious when it came!
9/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
I researched this place from Australia and was very excited to check it out. It did not disappoint and we had a fantastic night. The decor is great and the place looks fantastic. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. And the food of course was incredibly creative, well executed and had some amazing flavours. We had the chefs menu and loved it. The opening trout roe dish looked incredible and was a really interesting combination of flavours, The Dungeness crab and the young potatoes were our two favorites and had wonderful flavours. The desert was a great finish and I had a fantastic cocktail but cant quite remember what it was. If you want a special evening out then I highly recommend Red Medicine as it is an experience.

SUPERB WINE PARING
DON´T BE SHY NOR STUCK UP, LET THE SOMMELIER RECOMMEND THE WINE PARING. OUTSTANDING JOB FOR VERY UNIQUE DISHES DIFFICULT TO PAIR.

Red Medicine is TOTALLY AMAZING!
I had the Tasting Menu the first time I went, and it was love at first sight - then second love at first bite! The presentation was something to marvel at, and the taste was, was, was...... indescribably DELICIOUS!!!!! The Lamb was succulent, Potatoes were amazingly unique (yes, we are only speaking of potatoes here, but you have never, ever, ever tasted potatoes like these before - trust me!), the Crab with garlic paste around the edge of the bowl was devine. The food was so OUT OF THIS WORLD, that I went back 2-weeks later - and yes, I had the Tasting Menu... again!

Food as Delicious Art
Each plate was artistically designed and created, down to the little details. The flavors were bountiful and very unique. If you are looking for a restaurant that pushes the limit on presentation and flavor combinations, this is the place to go! There is nothing ordinary served. The coconut bavarois had every component desired for a dessert, yet was so uniquely executed. The dungeness crab with black garlic was the highlight. Solid night life past standard dinner hours.

so glad we went
We were going to go here for my birthday & then didn't because festivities of the day were fun but exhausting. So glad we came here to celebrate another occasion. We got the tasting menu with wine pairings. Amazing presentation, texture & taste. Very unusual ingredients, yet local. Also, very important, my bf left stuffed! Sometimes tasting menus can be only 2 bites each, not here. Good size pours, very nice wines. Restaurant open & rustic, nice trendy inside. I appreciated it was not too noisy.
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Food as Art
We tried the tasting menu paired with wine. The entire dinner was phenomenal. Not only were the dishes absolutely delicious and balanced, but the presentation were works of art. Everything was stunning! We appreciated that the food pairings were with International wines, rather than the usual California based wines. We love CA wines, but it was delightful to be exposed to wines from Greece, and Hungary which are more rare. We will absolutely return to try regular items on the menu which I have no doubt will be just as spectacular!
10/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
Totally unique dishes, fully of flavor and fun to eat. I would love it if they improved the wine by the glass options to match. Great service. They clearly explain the the dishes and are quick with great recommendations. I'll definitely return.

The menu is always a seasonal
The menu is always a seasonal gastronomic feast. The mix of unusual items on the menu makes for a great dining experience.
The servers are only too happy to explain each item.
10/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
Overall our dining experience was very good. The service was friendly and efficient and the food really was delicious and interesting. Unusual flavors mixed together that really worked well in your mouth. We will go back. The only downside was that the restaurant had a weird smell that hit you pretty hard when you walked in. It wasn't one of "ahhh" this place smells like good food. It was more like, "uh oh, is that spoiled food?" At first it concerned us, but then as our noses adjusted and the meal turned out to be very tasty.
10/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
Truly fit for foodies
We had the tasting menu, and you will not find a better experimental meal. Inventive (albeit repetitive) presentations, including in fishbowls. Many courses confuse you in a good way -- you can't figure out what you are eating or whether you like it, but you are so fascinated that you keep tasting. Two frustrations: no valet or other easy parking, and they do not supply the utensils you need for each course. They give you assorted utensils in a cup, with not enough of each type for everyone. And they have you re-use them when everything is served family style.
On balance, this place is a must-try for foodies, but I am not sure you need to go there more than once.

Inspired and fanciful, this food offers a culinary adventure that is satisfying to the taste buds as well as to the body and soul.

Loved the whole experience. The food was beautifully prepared and presented.
Each dish had a special presentation.
The portions were ample for sharing.
And the staff was educated and knowledgeable.
Red Medicine was a lovely dining experience.

Explosion Of Flavors
The food is amazing. Very creatively done. Unfortunately, the tables are too close to each other and the place can be a little bit too noisy.
11/8/2013 4:00:00 PM
Unique great food
Enjoyed the presentation. We had a group of 6 people so we ordered 6small dishes & 2 large dishes. It would have been nice to know the price of the larger dishes. Don't know why this is not on the menu. The smaller dishes had prices. Very surprised the scallops were $75 for 6-7 scallops. They were OK but not great. If I knew how much I was paying for this dish I would have sent it back. I often get scallops when dinning out and I give this dish 2 stars. The cocktails were wonderful and we had tasted each one on the menu. We also ordered all the desserts on the menu. Again, presentation was great & the dessert had multiple layers of flavor & texture.
It would have been nice for the food servers to explain how to eat the food! Fish bowl fish.

Really talented chef, everything was delicious and so creative! Flavor were divine. The restaurant was a little too loud.

Different but good
When you walk in this restaurant you ask yourself if you chose a right place to dine. The get a credit card for reservation so you think that they must be really busy to not want any one to cancel on them. No this Resturant was not a busy place. Only 5 other tables. Small menu too but any food we ordered was great. It doesn't look like anything you have tried before. Everything on the menu is fresh so the menu keeps changing to what the chef catches that week. There is no carb on the menu which makes it feel unique. The chef was working really hard cooking and making everything at the time of order (open kitchen). This place has great food and it isn't cheap. You are really paying for the freshness of what you are eating.
