our new favorite!
We discovered Ruka's a little over a year ago, and now it's a must hit restaurant when we are up in Highlands! Fresh, creative and delicious cuisine. Great atmosphere, lively bar, and friendly service!

My wife and I decided to fine
My wife and I decided to fine at Ruka's table after seeing that the chef was nominated for food and wine magazine's top 10 best new chef in America. Our experience more than lived up to expectations. The staff was knowledgable and friendly. We sat in a nice leather booth by the fire. But the food was what was most impressive. The charcuterie board was te best I have ever had and the flounder with hominy was excellent. My was had the crispy pork sausage and the pork loin. All were over the top. We cannot wait to come back on our next trip to highlands!

Our first time and we enjoyed
Our first time and we enjoyed it very much. The food was excellent. Compares well with the best in Highlands, which has several very fine restaurants. We will certainly be back.

We have a house in Highlands
We have a house in Highlands Falls CC but this was our first time for dinner at Ruka's. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back again. Enjoyed the music and our server Elizabeth was terrific.

We had a wonderful dinner
We had a wonderful dinner at Rukas Table. The food was all prepared extremely well, with perfectly seared scallops and venison that hit the mark. The pork belly was fantastic as well. We needed a dash of salt here or there, and wish we'd skipped dessert since dinner ended on a flat note there, but it did not change our opinion of a chef who obviously loves food and loves working with excellent product. Everything was beautifully presented (except for dessert that was extremely uninspired), and our server was very friendly and did a very nice job. We'll definitely be back!

We always have an enjoyable
We always have an enjoyable meal at Ruka's Table. The new chef is doing an amazing job preparing seasonal meals using local farms. The wine list is very good with a mixed price range for all those enjoying wine.
We started with a cheese plate - a good selection but the sauces, chili olives and almond butter pairings with the cheese were outstanding and really made it special. I also had the "killed lettuces" salad which was delicious with the warm bacon vinegarette. The venison is always amazing.
Highly recommended for those looking for a wonderful dining experience in Highlands.

Pricey but delicious. Very
Pricey but delicious. Very slow night when we were there - the service was excellent, not sure how they do "in season" when things are hopping more. Would definitely recommend it, though.

Great Addition to Highlands
Gives you another alternative to Madison's for special dining.

A wonderful experience
Recently took a date to Ruka's and was not let down in the slightest. The food was super and the service was freindly and attentive without being intrusive. Live music was a special touch that really helped make my night better. Highly recommend dinning at Ruka's Table, I know I will be back before the summer is over!

We dined on a night the chef was not there and the soux chef was on his own. This is another testament to Justin (chef) as his soux chef excelled. Our dinner was cooked perfectly. Also, our server Elizabeth, pretty much on her own that night never skipped a beat. And...we had a group of 8!

Menu was eclectic and catered
Menu was eclectic and catered to local produce and meats. Brasstown ribeye was cooked
med. well and was not too fatty as ribeyes can sometimes be . My wife's chicken was also
very good. Place was nearly empty at 7 on Friday night, so it had no vibes at all.
Fireplace was romantic, decor "new rustic". Not a gem, but nice enough
for a casual dinner- best for goodies and adventurous eaters.
Disappointed there was no filet mignon on menu, only steak was ribeye.

I dined alone and sat at the bar. I was so excited to eat here again asI had just eaten at the restaurant in Atlanta where Chef Justin Burdette had developed the menu. And, by the way, that restaurant is up for a James Beard award. Every thing from the bread, soup, free range chicken was top notch. I immediately took a photo of the entree and posted it on Facebook. It was not only beautiful to see, the flavors were beautiful on my taste buds. Thank you Chef Justin for a wonderful meal.

The food is exciting, creative, and my taste buds are happy. Justin, the chef, surprises me every time. Wven though there were only 2 wait staff, and The chef's wife on a very busy night the service was good. As this restaurant becomes more popular, which this is certain, there will be more staff per the management. I can't wait to see what Justin surprises me with next!

Excellent choice in Highlands
All four of us rated this our top choice in Highlands. Truly farm-to-table fresh, well done menu and good portions. My husband had the oyster appetizer and venison entree, said both were the best he has been served. I had the scallop appetizer and quail entree, both were excellent. And the desserts !

We had an excellent meal during a recent stay in Highlands at Ruka's Table. The accomplished chef, Justin Burdette, personally came out and greeted us during our dinner. We had a wonderful appetizer, superbly cooked halibut along with delicious and local fresh vegetables. The restaurant is inviting, cozy and perfect for Highlands. We are eager to dine at Ruka's Table again.

Inviting Dining Choice in Highlands
Ruka's Table has been open for four or five years in Highlands, but never had much of a reputation. However, last summer they hired a well-regarded Atlanta Chef, Justin Burdett, from Miller Union, an impressive farm-to-table restaurant. Justin and his wife (who works the front-of-the-house) have created an impressive restaurant in culinary terms. While I felt that his dishes were a little busy and could have used fewer ingredients, they were thoughtfully conceived and excellently prepared. The pickles were particularly memorable. Service was very fine as well. The greatest problem is that Ruka's Table is not a pretty restaurant, a problem in an upscale resort community, and given its location, it is unlikely to be anything else.

Justin's cuisine never disappoints us. His creativity is unmatched.

Perhaps the best food in Highlands
Justin and his team are creating some of the most interesting, delicious and creative food in the Highlands area.
Ruka's Table should be on everyone's must eat there list when they visit Highlands.

Fresh ingredients, seasonal entrees, a real treat. The servers have been international the last few times we visited, and some have been difficult to understand, but were all delightful, A definite recommend.

Great food, great service!
We have been to Ruka's twice now and we think it is fantastic. The food is awesome and the service is wonderful. We don't know why it is not crowded when we have been there because we think they have just about the best food in town. Only thing we can figure out is that they are not right in the middle of Main Street where a lot of the "action" is. We think people are really missing the boat if they don't try Ruka's.

Quality Food in Quiet Atmosphere
Although there were not many customers, we had a wonderful dining experience at Ruka's Table. The food was prepared and presented in an excellent fashion. Carol's appetizer of tomato & peach was fresh and tasty. I had scallops with tomatoes and an eggplant sauce that enhanced the scallops. Our entrees were grouper for Carol while I had the catfish.
Would return to Ruka's - highly recommended!!!

Unfound Gem - don't miss it
The setting inside if wonderful with a huge old stone fireplace that is so romantic! The food is farm to table fresh with an unusual twist and wonderful - Chef Justin knows how to make it fit for foodies. He was a winner on the acclaimed Chopped series recently ...last year? In any case, if you are in Highlands and looking for a place with great atmosphere inside, and fabulous food with terrific service and no long wait -- this is it. The location is close to main downtown, so a little bit easier to get in and not so hectic. I've been going for 2 years and love it. The peach, tomatoe, and cucumber salad is not to be missed. I've enjoyed several entrees -- all great!

Best Restaurant in Highlands
Chef Justin is amazing! He is creative, uses the highest quality local ingredients, and is unquestionably the best farm to table restaurant in the Highlands area. While I enjoy other restaurants in Highlands like Paoletti's, Lakeside, Wild Thyme, and Rustico, none can match the inventive quality of the food at Ruka's. my wife and I have eaten there a number of times, and the last time we just asked Justin to "bring us food." He seemed to enjoy the challenge and out came four courses of food that inspired us to take pictures of each course as each was wonderful. Do go support this gem of a restaurant. True, the room is average. The service in the past has been uneven but recently has been excellent and the prices are very fair. Enjoy!

A fantastic find in Highlands
First trip to Ruka's. Overall, one of the best meals in a while. Every detail of food prep was top-notch. We split three appetizers - scallops, pork belly, bone marrow - and shared the duck breast entree. Finished with panna cotta. We were oohing and ahhing at every bite of every dish. Surprising ingredients and flavors combined with perfect preparation made each sublime. A jazz duo playing classics made it an almost perfect evening. The only hitch at all was with the bar. We ordered kirs to start and the waiter and bartender seemed confused. We ordered 2 glasses of the same pinot noir but were brought different ones. When asked, waiter checked and said the bartender ran out and substituted another. No problem if we'd been told.

We were very pleased with food. Whoever is frying in the kitchen knows their craft. Fried catfish and okra fabulous. Anson Mills products tell you all you need to know about quality sourcing. Purple cape beans and farro piccolo do not just show up on menu by chance. Very accommodating of our young ones too, made a special plate of pasta and split it for them. Service can be a little off but they are pleasant and try to please, just maybe short handed?

True Farm to Table
Award winning Chef Justin Burdett changes the menu regularly to highlight best of season. I've been here several times and it's always a treat. Everything is great, but don't count on finding the same dish twice. Southern flare but not your Granny's cooking.
YUM! Don't miss this when in Highlands. The fireplace area is romantic.

We come to the Highlands area twice a year and was glad to try a new restaurant. Enjoyed the music and did not feel it was too loud for our group to have conversation...which was nice!
The group felt the food was prepared very well. Compliments to the Chef!
I would definitely eat at Rukas again.

Notable in Highlands
The night we were there, they had some nice music playing in the bar, which provided a good background to the dining area. Ruka's uses locally sourced food and the menu changes based upon what is fresh at the time. The lettuce salad was very fresh and flavorful, with the diced bacon giving a nice salty bite. Portion sizes are generous on the appetizers. For the main course, I had the oyster appetizer which was plenty for an entree portion. The oysters were lightly fried and served with a migonette sauce, my husband ordered the roasted chicken, which was accompanied by a roasted corn puree and nutty, chewy farro with muscadines. The flavors of the overall dish worked very well. We enjoyed dining at Ruka's Table and will return.

Good dinner..crowded Friday night. Food was good, service slow...waitress had too many tables, and worked at the bar too.
We have been here before and will come again..food is good and nice portions.

You must not miss this restaurant!
Dinner was a culinary explosion of vibrant flavors blended to perfection. The cheese plate eclectic and full of flavor, Ahser Bleu the best! The scallops perfectly seared on a creamy base of grits. Pork Belly was crisp with a delicate glaze that was full of flavor. The oysters are the star of show. Perfectly fried with a light texture and the sauce was just delicate enough as to not smother the wonderful flavor of the oyster. Duck seared to perfection, sauce and greens served with this was a treat and compliment to dish. By far one the best meals we have ever had! Do not miss this gem in beautiful Highlands. Service was prompt and very friendly! Chef Justin Burdett is amazing and knows how to pair foods! Can't wait to return.

Fresh food, excellently prepared.
The restaurant is attractive, the food excellent, the servers knowledgeable. The only drawback is slow service, both from the bar and from the kitchen. That's easy to overlook when the food is so good.
