To begin with I thought I
To begin with I thought I had a reservation at the Buffet in the Atrium. Yes I called and made the reservation at The Five Restaurant, but your web site did not indicate which phone number to call for the Easter buffet vs. the Easter Brunch. In fact your web site is your weakest link. Not clear on the two services being separate and requiring separate reservations. Your website needs to clearly separate the Buffet from the Brunch. I use the words interchangeably. The situation was handled with professionalism and we decided to stay at the Brunch. The food is very diverse and interesting, well prepared, and presented elegantly. Service staff is extremely nice.

Our food was excellent - hot, creatively presented and delicious. The service was also excellent - promptly bringing our dishes out while they were still piping hot.
The banana blondie was an outstanding dessert.

Their 5 onion soup is wonderful.

Lunch on a Monday
Wonderful food, service, and an extensive wine list. Mixed drinks not their specialty (I ordered a sour apple martini) but the staff go out of their way to accomodate you. The grounds are beautiful and the interior took me by surprise at the warmth and spaciousness. Very inviting! Comfortable seating. Free birthday dessert for lunch was unexpected and DELICIOUS! Pears and chocolate DO go well together!

Good for foodies. Menu reminded me of many California restaurants.

The filet mignon was the best I've ever had. My husband had the salmon, and he said it was wonderful. We both loved the Onion Soup. The service was terrific. The atmosphere was great. Since 5ive is in the St. John's hotel, and there is also a golf course there, you get a wonderful blend of people. We look forward to going back soon.

Service started out pretty poor as the server was overloaded. We had a group of 8. As the meal continued, the service got better and better.

A Wonderful Evening
I just recently learned about Five. I was excited to hear about their Carribean night on Thursdays during the summer so I made reservations for my dad'sbirthday. He and his wife LOVE St. Lucia (but they are Vegetarians, so I had to be careful!) and I thought this would be a special treat.
The Tapas were wonderful and a great way to get a taste of the dishes. The Velvet corn soup was phenominal. Both the filet and the seafood pasta were out of this world! Presentation is everything here and it means nothing to me, unless the food can stand on it's own...and it did!!
We had a few of the Carribean style rum drinks and dessert, of course! A PERFECT evening! Well worth the money!!!

Great Food in a Beautiful Setting
I loved the relaxed feel of this place - including the beautiful gardens that could be viewed from the windows. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The roasted red pepper soup was amazing and the "Lunch Box" was delicious with salad, vegetable, main course and dessert. Service was well-timed and friendly.

What a wonderful restaurant.
What a wonderful restaurant. We dine out a lot but rarely in the western suburbs. Thus restaurant is a real gem: excellent service, first rate food, lovely interior and patio dining area. We'll be back.

Nice venue but too high priced
4 small carrots, cup of fries and a ribeye steak for $30+ is not competitive. The specials were already all gone for my table and others at other tables.
nice venue but not worth the price. If pricing were to stay the same, the dinners will have to match with more portions, more side selections, larger soup/salads, added bread, etc.

Top notch service, food, and atmosphere. Knowledgeable servers and diverse menu. Everything is prepared the right way.

The 5ive Restaurant, set within
The 5ive Restaurant, set within the spacious and beautiful surroundings of the St. John's Inn and golf course, is an excellent hotel option for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Make sure you reserve a table in advance though, as the place can fill up quickly - especially when a large group is staying at The Inn.

Dined on the patio, beautiful weather, beautiful setting. Everything was very good, we all enjoyed our meal and then visited the facility. Definitely recommend and will go there again.

Not overly crowded... quiet outdoor dining experience away from the very busy downtown Plymouth area for a nice break.

Great for Special Events or Drinks
Our family enjoyed a wonderful dinner for my daughter's 16th birthday. The menu did not have much for my 10 year old to choose from but my daughter is a "Pescetarian" so that's why we chose it was for the fish selections. Anyway the service was fantastic and the food was really good. The only drawback was the 20% service fee which confused me a bit because they also asked for a tip on the receipt. I'm used to seeing the standard "gratuity" but not the service fee. In the end, everyone was happy! That's all that matters.

It was alright
When we arrived, there was no hostess at the stand and we waited a few minutes before she showed up. The restaurant was not busy other than a few couples eating and a large group. We sat down and waited another 5 mins for our waitress to show up. After our drinks arrived, we ordered our appetizers, salads and entree. They all came out in a timely fashion. After the salads came out, we both finished our drinks. When the entree came out, portions are a bit small, for the prices. We also asked for refills on our drinks. Seeing that the place was not busy, we expected our drinks to come quickly. Trying not to eat all my food on my plate before my drink came, 10 mins later our drinks arrive and we were near complete on our meal.

Don't go early!
Open Table offered us a 4:30pm reservation which worked out well after a theater matinee in Ann Arbor. However, the restaurant was not ready for us at 4:30! Dinner menu and Specials not available for announcement until 5pm....not even fully staffed! We wanted to sit outside but air conditioner unit was so loud, we couldn't talk so back inside we went.
The bottle of wine we ordered was not available. Our waitress said there probably was a suitable replacement in the basement/cellar, but she wasn't allowed down there.
We are not old coots looking for the early bird special. We are experienced diners with wine/ food knowledge. Because the food and presentation was quite nice, I would consider returning...but not for early Sunday dinner!

Nice night on the patio
Had a great night to eat on the patio - live steel-drum music, beautiful setting, great food, attentive service. Highest marks were for the 5 Onion soup & Three Little Pigs entree.

Great lunch location
What a beautiful setting on the patio outside for lunch! The server was pleasant and efficient and the food was spectacular. It was my first visit, and I will be back again!

Limited menu but very well
Limited menu but very well done. Enjoyed a few little surprises, like perfectly done flash fried kale (with the pork sampler), fresh spring rolls of pickled julienne carrots wrapped in rice paper (that complemented the salmon perfectly), and sliced hearts of palm in the house salad. The portions did not look very large but I left quite full. The restaurant seemed a bit stuffy at first but the adjacent bar had a lively crowd which I liked.

Breakfast with friends
Great breakfast and conversation setting. Traffic was light, so we were able to visit for a while after breakfast....visiting with old friends from 40 years ago......
9/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
Nice visit overall, personal preference would be for less lighting and the addition of tablecloths at this price level.
10/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
We had a soup there that was so delicious, it was velvet corn soup, topped w/ a little herbed oil.
